Sold-out To The Gospel
“병사로 복무하는 자는 자기 생활에 얽매이는 자가 하나도 없나니 이는 병사로 모집한 자를 기쁘게 하려 함이라”(딤후 2:4)
예수께서 “…너희는 온 천하에 다니며 만민에게 복음을 전파하라”(막 16:15)고 말씀하셨을 때, 이는 모든 그리스도인에게 주어진 사명이었습니다. 당신은 당신의 세상과 그 너머로 복음을 가져가야 합니다. 그리고 예수님은 그 일이 공원 산책길처럼 쉽지만은 않을 것을 명확히 알려주셨습니다.
고린도전서 16:9에서 바울은 복음을 전할 크고 효과적인 문이 자기에게 열렸으나 대적하는 자가 많았다고 말했습니다. 디모데후서 3장 12절에서는 그가 이렇게 말했습니다. “무릇 그리스도 예수 안에서 경건하게 살고자 하는 자는 박해를 받으리라.” 하지만 어떠한 것도 복음전파에 대한 바울의 열정을 막거나 방해할 수 없었습니다.
당신도 그래야 합니다. 복음전파는 무슨 일이 있더라도 우리가 반드시 해야 하는 일입니다. 그래서 바울은 사도행전 20:24에서 이렇게 말했습니다. “내가 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명조차 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라.”
이것이 바울의 결단이었습니다. 바울이 받을 박해 때문에 그가 전도하러 예루살렘에 가는 것을 막으려는 사람들에게 전한 그의 대답이었습니다. 바울은 사도행전 20:22-23에서 말했습니다. “보라 이제 나는 성령에 매여 예루살렘으로 가는데 거기서 무슨 일을 당할는지 알지 못하노라 오직 성령이 각 성에서 내게 증언하여 결박과 환난이 나를 기다린다 하시나.” 하지만 그는 멈추지 않았습니다.
사도행전 21:10-11에서는 아가보라 하는 선지자가 바울이 예루살렘에 갇힌 후 이방인에게 넘겨질 것을 예언했습니다. 그 결과, 다른 제자들은 예루살렘에 가지 말라고 바울을 설득했습니다. 사실 그들은 울기까지 했습니다. 하지만 바울의 감동적인 대답은 이러했습니다. “너희가 어찌하여 울어 내 마음을 상하게 하느냐? 나는 주 예수의 이름을 위하여 결박 당할 뿐 아니라 예루살렘에서 죽을 것도 각오하였노라.”
당신은 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전파하는 일에 얼마나 헌신하고 있습니까? 이것은 게임이 아닙니다! 복음은 우리의 모든 것을 요구하기에 합당합니다. 필요하다면 우리의 생명을 내려놓을 만큼 가치가 있습니다. 그리스도는 모든 것을 받기에 합당하십니다. 그러므로 다른 사람들도 당신만큼 복음에 대한 긴급함, 열정, 확신을 가지도록 동기부여 하십시오

Sold-out To The Gospel
“No one in military service gets entangled in matters of everyday life; otherwise he will not please the one who recruited him”(2 Timothy 2:4 NET).
When Jesus said, “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15), it was a charge given to every Christian. You’re to take the Gospel to your world and the regions beyond. He also made us know it certainly wouldn’t just be a walk in the park.
In 1 Corinthians 16:9, Paul said a great and effectual door for the spread of the Gospel was open unto him, but there were many adversaries. In 2 Timothy 3:12, he said, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” None of these, however, dampened his zeal or impeded his passion for preaching the Gospel.
It should be the same with you. Preaching the Gospel is a job we must do, come what may. That’s why Paul said in Acts 20:24, “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
This was Paul’s resolve. The statement was his response to those who tried to stop him from going to Jerusalem to preach because of the persecution he was sure to face. He had said in the preceding verses 22-23, “And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.” Yet, he was undeterred.
In Chapter 21 verses 10-11, a certain prophet named Agabus, prophesied how Paul would be imprisoned in Jerusalem and delivered to the Gentiles. As a result, the other disciples prevailed on Paul not to go to Jerusalem; in fact, they wept. But here was Paul’s inspiring response: “What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
How committed are you to the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? This is no game! It deserves and demands our putting in everything, including laying down our lives, if we must. Christ deserves it all. Therefore, let others be stirred by the urgency, passion and conviction with which you preach the Gospel.
