“우리로 하여금 빛 가운데서 성도의 기업의 부분을 얻기에 합당하게 하신 아버지께 감사하게 하시기를 원하노라 그가 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내사 그의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮기셨으니”(골 1:12-13)

오늘의 본문 구절이 과거시제를 썼다는 사실에 주목하십시오. 이는 약속이 아니라는 뜻입니다. 이미 일어난 일입니다. 우리는 빛 가운데서 성도의 기업의 부분을 얻기에 합당하게 되었습니다. 아버지께서 우리에게 자격을 주셨습니다. 할렐루야!

13절은 이렇게 말합니다. “그가 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내사 그의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮기셨으니” 여기서 등장한 “셨으니”라는 단어는 구출이 이미 완료된 상태라는 것을 알려줍니다. 하나님은 이미 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 구출하셨습니다.

또한 이 구절에 언급되는 “권세”라는 단어는 “엑수시아(그리스어)로 “통제” 혹은 “지휘권”으로도 번역되며 하나님께서 이미 우리를 어둠의 통제와 지휘권에서 옮기셨음을 강조합니다. 하나님은 우리를 어둠의 통치권, 관할권, 영향력, 권세에서 해방하셨습니다. 이 진리를 묵상하는 것이 중요합니다.

당신은 마귀를 두려워하거나 그들의 행동에 영향을 받을 필요가 없습니다. 당신은 마귀에 대한 절대적인 통치권을 가지고 있습니다. 만일 당신이 밤마다 악몽이나 마귀 혹은 악한 존재들의 괴로움을 주는 공격으로 인해 고통받고 있다면, 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 권세를 주장하십시오. 마귀를 떠나라고 꾸짖으십시오!

예수님의 말씀을 기억하십시오. “믿는 자들에게는 이런 표적이 따르리니 곧 그들이 내 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며…”(막 16:17) 사탄과 그의 어둠의 무리에 맞서 예수 이름을 사용하십시오. 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 정체성과 그분 안에 있는 당신의 위치와 권세 위에 굳건히 서서 초월적인 생명과 성령의 자유를 경험하십시오.

기도

나는 모든 정사와 권세 위에 뛰어나신 그리스도와 함께 앉아 있으며 그곳에서 사탄과 흑암의 권세를 다스립니다. 나는 말씀 안에 살고, 거짓과 조작, 계략, 속임수에 동요하지 않습니다. 나는 승리 안에 삽니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

TELL THE DEVIL OFF

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us

from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”(Colossians 1:12-13).

Observe that the opening verse is in the past tense, meaning that it’s not a promise; it’s happened already. We’ve been qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. The Father qualified us. Hallelujah!

The 13th verse says, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” Again, the use of the word “hath” indicates that this deliverance is a completed action. He has already delivered us from the power of darkness.

The term “power” used here is “Exousia” (Greek), and it translates to “control” or “authority,” highlighting that God has already transferred us out of the control and authority of darkness. He’s liberated us from the dominion, jurisdiction, influence and power of darkness. It’s important to reflect on this truth.

You need not fear demons or be influenced by their actions. You have absolute dominion over them. Perhaps, you’ve found yourself grappling with nightmares and distressing attacks from the devil or sinister entities; assert your authority in Christ. Tell the devil off!

Remember the words of Jesus, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17). Use the Name of Jesus against Satan and his cohorts of darkness. Stand firm on your identity in Christ, your position and authority in Him and experience the transcendent life and liberty of the Spirit.

PRAYER

I’m seated with Christ, far above all principality and power, where I reign over Satan and the powers of darkness. I live in the Word, not swayed by the lies, manipulations and tricks of the adversary. I walk on in victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Be Zealous For Him

“내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 차지도 아니하고 뜨겁지도 아니하도다… 네가 말하기를 나는 부자라 부요하여 부족한 것이 없다…”(계 3:15-17)

라오디게아는 부유한 도시였습니다. 주요 무역로에 위치해 있었고 환전의 중심지였습니다. 지진으로 도시 일부가 파괴되어도 재건할 자금이 충분했기 때문에 제국주의자들의 재정 지원을 거부할 수 있었습니다.

그러나 그들은 부유하고 마음대로 사용할 수 있는 자원이 충분하자 영적으로 미지근해졌습니다. 미지근하다는 것은 차갑거나, 감정이 별로 없거나, 활동적이지 않거나, 수동적이라는 뜻입니다. 이는 오늘날 “네, 저는 그리스도인이긴 합니다만 그렇게 열심히 믿지는 않습니다. 저는 제 신앙을 그저 조용하고 차분하게 유지할 뿐입니다. 저는 온건한 쪽입니다.”라고 말하는 사람들과 같습니다.

그러나 예수님은 라오디게아 사람들에게 “네가 차지도 아니하고 뜨겁지도 아니하도다 네가 차든지 뜨겁든지 하기를 원하노라 네가 이같이 미지근하여 뜨겁지도 아니하고 차지도 아니하니 내 입에서 너를 토하여 버리리라”(계 3:15-16)고 말씀하셨습니다. 즉, 예수님은 그들이 역겨워서 그들을 토해내려고 하셨다는 것입니다. 안타깝게도 사람들은 이에 대해 잘 몰랐습니다. 그들은 자신들끼리 모일 때, 주님께서 교회 안으로 들어오지 않으시고 밖에 계셨다는 사실을 몰랐습니다. 그래서 주님께서 “볼지어다 내가 문 밖에 서서 두드리노니…”(계 3:20)라고 말씀하신 것입니다. 그분은 안에 계시고 싶었지만, 넌더리가 나셔서 그러실 수 없었습니다.

예수님은 라오디게아 교인들에게 그들의 재물을 의지하지 말고 열심을 내라고 권고하셨습니다. “무릇 내가 사랑하는 자를 책망하여 징계하노니 그러므로 네가 열심을 내라 회개하라”(계 3:19) 여기 등장하는 “열심을 내다”라는 표현은 “열정으로 불타오르다, 뜨거워지다”라는 뜻입니다. 하나님은 당신이 차갑거나 미지근하기 원치 않으십니다. 사실 그분은 당신에게 열심을 내라고 명령하십니다.

미지근한 것보다 열정적인 것이 더 낫습니다. 예수님이 “충분하다”고 말씀하시려면 당신이 얼마나 열정적이어야 하겠습니까? 우리가 천국에 갈 때만 충분하다고 말할 수 있을 것입니다. 누구도 당신을 속이거나 하나님을 위해 너무 많은 일을 하고 있다고 말하게 하지 마십시오. 최선을 다하고 그분을 위해 최선을 다하십시오.

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 나는 항상 영 안에서 열정적이고, 활력이 넘치며, 빛이 납니다. 나는 내 세상에 복음을 전할 준비가 되어 있고 불타오르고 있습니다. 나는 불타는, 빛나는 빛이며 내 세상을 영생의 메시지로 비추고, 많은 사람들이 어둠의 속박에서 벗어나 하나님의 아들의 영광스러운 자유 안으로 들어오도록 인도합니다. 내 안에서 그리고 나를 통해 밝게 빛나는 아버지의 빛에 감사드립니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

BE ZEALOUS FOR HIM

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot…. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing…”(Revelation 3:15-17).

Laodicea was a rich city. It was located on major trade routes and was a centre of currency exchange. Even when parts of the city were destroyed by an earthquake, they were able to reject financial assistance from the imperialists because they had enough money to rebuild.

However, because they were rich and had enough resources at their disposal, they became spiritually lukewarm. To be lukewarm means to be cold, expressionless, inactive or passive. That’s like some people today who say, “Yes, I’m a Christian, but I’m not so into it. I keep my Christianity quiet and calm. I’m moderate.”

But Jesus said to the Laodiceans, “…thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16). In other words, He found them disgusting and was about to vomit them out. Sadly, the people didn’t know this. They didn’t know that each time they gathered together, the Master stayed outside and didn’t enter their church. That’s why He said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock…” (Revelation 3:20). He was supposed to be inside, but He was disgusted.

Jesus admonished the Laodiceans not to trust in their riches, but to be zealous. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent” (Revelation 3:19). “To be zealous” means “to be afire or be hot with zeal.” He doesn’t want you cold or lukewarm. In fact, He commands you to be zealous.

It’s better to be zealous than to be lukewarm. How zealous can you be for Jesus to say: “It’s enough?” It will only be enough when we get to heaven. Don’t let anyone deceive you and tell you you’re doing too much for God. Be your best and live your best for Him.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m always passionate, vibrant and aglow in my spirit, fired up and ready to spread the Gospel to my world. I’m a burning and a shining light, illuminating my world with the message of eternal life, leading many out of the shackles of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Thank you for your light that shines brightly in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

당신이 천국의 시민이라는 것을 알고 계셨나요? 당신의 생명은 하늘로부터 났습니다. 당신은 이 세상에 속하지 않습니다. 당신은 지금 하나님의 왕국에 있습니다! 따라서, 당신이 이 세상으로부터 태어났거나 이 세상에 살고 있는 것처럼 생활하거나 문제를 처리하지 마십시오. “너희가 세상의 초등학문에서 그리스도와 함께 죽었거든 어찌하여 세상에 사는 것과 같이 규례에 순종하느냐”(골 2:20)

골로새서 3:1-3은 말합니다. “그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 다시 살리심을 받았으면 위의 것을 찾으라 거기는 그리스도께서 하나님 우편에 앉아 계시느니라 위의 것을 생각하고 땅의 것을 생각하지 말라…” 이 땅에서 천국의 삶을 사십시오. 당신의 삶을 왕국의 관점으로 바라보십시오.

이것을 이해한다면 세상의 어려움과 위기로 인해 동요하지 않을 것입니다. 당신은 그것들 위에 살아갈 것입니다. 우리는 왕국 안에서 승리하고 영광에서 영광으로 성장하기 때문입니다. 할렐루야!

YOU LIVE IN THE KINGDOM NOW

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”(Philippians 3:20).

Did you know that you’re a heavenly citizen? Your life is born from heaven. You’re not of this world. You’re in God’s Kingdom now! Therefore, don’t transact your affairs, don’t live as though you’re of this world or living in the world: “Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (Colossians 2:20).

Your actions and reactions, your thoughts, words and responses shouldn’t be like those of the people of the world. You’re different. You live on God’s terms; you live by His Word. You live by faith, because that’s the lifestyle in our spiritual Kingdom.

Jesus said in John 15:19, “…I have chosen you out of the world….” No wonder the Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, cautioned, “Why are you still living as though you’re in the world, when actually you live in Christ, in the Spirit?”

Then, in Galatians 5:25, He tells us to walk in the Spirit, because we live in the Spirit. Now that you’re born again, you live in two worlds: the physical world and the spiritual world. But you have to be more conscious of the spiritual world because life is spiritual.

Colossians 3:1-3 says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth….” Live the life of heaven—on earth! Let your outlook on life be from the Kingdom’s perspective.

When you understand this, you’ll never be perturbed by the troubles and crises in the world; you’ll live above them. This is because in the Kingdom we only win and grow from glory to glory. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I’m not of this world; I’m born from heaven and live the life of heaven now in the earth! I live above the debilitating principles of this world, walking in victory, health, strength and prosperity. I’m conscious of my heavenly blessings, rights, and privileges and I live in them in Christ Jesus. Amen.

He Has Reconciled Us To Himself

“곧 하나님께서 그리스도 안에 계시사 세상을 자기와 화목하게 하시며 그들의 죄를 그들에게 돌리지 아니하시고 화목하게 하는 말씀을 우리에게 부탁하셨느니라”(고후 5:19)

예수님은 세상을 자신과 화해시키려고 오셨고, 사람들의 죄를 그들에게 돌리지 않으셨습니다. 이는 골로새서 1:21-22을 생각나게 합니다. “한 때는 너희가 사악한 행위들로 인해 멀리 떨어져 너희 생각 속에서 원수가 되었으나 이제는 그분께서 죽음을 통해 자기 육체의 몸으로 화해를 이루사 너희를 그분의 눈앞에서 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 드리려 하셨으니”(한글 흠정역)

그리스도 예수는 십자가의 죽으심으로 하나님과 사람 사이에 화평을 이루시고 세우셨습니다. 사람은 아담의 불순종으로 하나님의 생명에서 분리되었지만, 예수님은 죽음으로 말미암아 육신의 몸으로 아버지와 우리를 화목하게 하셨고, 우리를 아버지 앞에서 거룩하고, 흠이 없고, 책망할 것이 없는 존재가 되게 하셨습니다.

그러면 예수님은 어떤 분이시며, 인류를 위해 어떻게 이런 일을 하실 수 있으셨습니까? 단순히 그가 좋은 분이셔서 그렇습니까? 그렇지 않습니다. 그랬다면 예수님은 우리를 위해 죽을 자격이 없으셨을 것입니다. 성경은 모든 사람이 죄를 범해 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못한다고 말하기 때문입니다. 보통 사람의 피는 우리의 속죄를 위해 충분치 않습니다. 그러나 예수님의 보혈은 신성했고, 그분은 육신을 입은 하나님이셨습니다. 그분은 죄가 없으셨습니다.

성경은 말합니다. “그러므로 형제들아 너희가 알 것은 이 사람을 힘입어 죄 사함을 너희에게 전하는 이것이며 또 모세의 율법으로 너희가 의롭다 하심을 얻지 못하던 모든 일에도 이 사람을 힘입어 믿는 자마다 의롭다 하심을 얻는 이것이라”(행 13:38-39) 성경이 “의롭다 하심을 얻으리라”고 말하지 않았다는 점에 주목하십시오. 이것은 약속이 아닙니다. 모든 믿는 자들은 의로워졌습니다.

당신을 의로운 새 생명으로 재창조하신 예수 그리스도의 부활은 당신이 죄책이나 정죄함 없이 하나님의 면전에서 살 수 있는 자격을 갖추게 해 주었습니다. 당신은 모든 비난에서 자유롭고 그의 은혜로 의롭다 하심을 얻었습니다. 이것이 복음입니다!

당신이 아버지 앞에서 거룩하고 흠 없고 의롭다 하심을 받는 이유는 당신이 행한 일이나 행하지 않은 일 때문이 아닙니다. 그것은 예수님께서 행하신 일의 결과이며 그분이 누구인지 때문입니다. 이제 여러분은 그리스도 예수 안에서 넘치는 은혜와 의의 선물을 받았습니다. 할렐루야!

HE HAS RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation”(2 Corinthians 5:19).

Jesus came to reconcile the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses against them. It reminds of what the Bible says in Colossians 1:21-22, “And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight” (NKJV).

Christ Jesus initiated and established peace between God and man through His death on the cross. Man had become alienated from the life of God through Adam’s disobedience, but Jesus reconciled us with the Father in the body of His flesh through death, to present us holy, blameless and above reproach before the Father.

Now, who is Jesus, and why was He able to achieve this for man? Was He just a good man? No; otherwise, He wouldn’t have qualified to die for us because the Bible says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The blood of the ordinary man wouldn’t qualify for our redemption. But the blood of Jesus was divine, being God in the flesh. He was sinless.

The Bible says, “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:38-39). Notice that the Scriptures didn’t say “shall be justified”; it’s not a promise. All who believe are justified.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ by which you were recreated with a new life of righteousness qualified you to live in the presence of God, without guilt or condemnation; you’re free from all accusations, being justified by His grace. This is the Gospel!

The reason you’re holy, blameless and justified before the Father isn’t because of what you did, or didn’t do; it’s the result of what Jesus did, and who He is. Now you have received abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the resurrection of Jesus Christ by which I’ve been justified by faith. Now, I’m holy, blameless, and above reproach in your sight Thank you for this amazing blessing, and your amazing love and grace, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

We Grow But We Don’t Age

“예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이의 영이 너희 안에 거하시면 그리스도 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이가 너희 안에 거하시는 그의 영으로 말미암아 너희 죽을 몸도 살리시리라”(롬 8:11)

어떤 사람들은 신체가 활동적이고 활기 넘치는 상태를 유지하는 것은 몇 년에 지나지 않고 그 뒤로는 약해진다고 믿습니다. 그러면 그들은 “신체는 얼마나 오래 유지될 수 있나요?”라고 물을 것입니다. 성경은 신체가 아주 오랜 기간 동안 건강할 수 있다고 말합니다. 아담은 930년을 살았습니다. 그는 육신이 더 이상 견딜 수 없기 때문에 죽은 것이 아니라 죄 때문에 죽었습니다.

하나님은 아담에게 “선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라”(창 2:17)고 말씀하셨습니다. 아담은 그 열매를 먹고 죽었습니다. 다른 사람들도 수백 년 살았습니다. 죄가 세상에 들어와서 하나님께서 “나의 영이 영원히 사람과 함께 하지 아니하리니 이는 그들이 육신이 됨이라 그러나 그들의 날은 백이십 년이 되리라”(창 6:3)고 하시기 전까지 어떤 사람들은 아담보다 더 오래 살았습니다.

하나님이 120년보다 더 적은 연수를 말씀하신 적이 없다는 점에 주목하십시오. 어떤 사람들은 시편 90편을 인용하며 하나님이 사람의 수명을 120년에서 70년으로 줄이셨다고 말합니다. 그 특정 시편은 다윗이 쓴 것이 아니고 모세가 쓴 애가였습니다. “우리의 연수가 칠십이요 강건하면 팔십이라도…”

모세는 하나님의 말씀을 말한 것이 아닙니다. 그는 이스라엘 백성들이 어린 나이에 죽는 것을 보고 한탄했습니다. 생각해 보십시오. 모세 자신은 얼마나 오래 살았습니까? “모세가 죽을 때 나이 백이십 세였으나 그의 눈이 흐리지 아니하였고 기력이 쇠하지 아니하였더라”(신 34:7)

WE GROW BUT WE DON’T AGE

“And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you”(Romans 8:11 AMPC).

Some people believe the human body is meant to be active and vibrant for only a few years before it starts getting weak. So they ask, “Just how far can the body go?” Well, the Bible shows us the body can go very far. Adam lived for 930 years before he died. He didn’t die because the body couldn’t take it anymore; he died because of sin.

God had said to him, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). He ate of it and died. Many others lived for several hundreds of years. Some even lived older than Adam, until the sin in the world got so much and God said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years” (Genesis 6:3).

Notice that God didn’t say less than 120 years. Some people however quote Psalm 90 and say God reduced the number of years of man’s life from 120 to 70. But that’s incorrect. That particular Psalm wasn’t written by David; it was a lamentation written by Moses. It says, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years…” (Psalm 90:10).

Moses wasn’t stating something from God; he saw the children of Israel passing away at a young age, and he lamented. Think about it: how long did Moses himself live? “Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished” (Deuteronomy 34:7 NKJV).

If Moses could have had such an amazing testimony, you have something better. In Christ, you’ve been brought into agelessness. When you were born again, you received the same eternal life as Jesus. Eternal life is the life with agelessness. When you received it, you were brought into God’s realm of eternity, into an ageless zone. In Christ, we grow without ageing; we have an endless, incorruptible, and indestructible life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for I’m no longer bound by the limitations of ageing and decay. I have passed from death to life; from age into agelessness. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I’m strengthened, vitalized, energized by Him now and always. Amen.

주님께서 주시는 정말 긴급한 권면입니다! 주님은 빌라델비아 교회에게 가진 것을 굳게 잡으라고 권면하셨습니다. 그것들은 세상의 것들이 아닌 영적인 것들이었습니다. 그것들을 잃어버릴 수도 있기 때문에 주님은 굳게 붙잡으라고 말씀하신 것입니다. 하나님께서 당신에게 주신 것들을 굳게 붙잡은 방법은 그것들을 사용하는 것입니다. 계속 사용하십시오.

항상 영혼을 구원하여 교회로 데려오는 한 그리스도인을 상상해 보십시오. 그러나 어느 날 그가 무언가 때문에 화가 나서 영혼구원을 멈췄습니다. 그가 자신을 기다리고 있는 의의 면류관이 있다는 것을 알았다면 좋았을 것입니다. 그러나 누군가가 그 면류관을 가져가려고 했습니다.

THERE’S A CROWN WAITING

“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown”(Revelation 3:11).

What an urgent admonition from the Lord! He counselled the church in Philadelphia to hold fast to what they had. These weren’t earthly things, but spiritual things. He told them to hold fast to them because of the possibility of losing them. The way to hold fast to what God has given to you is to put it to work; keep using it.

Imagine a Christian who was always winning souls and bringing them to church. But one day, something offended him and he stopped winning souls. If only he knew that there was a crown of righteousness waiting for him; but now, someone else was going to get it.

If it weren’t possible for someone else to get it, God wouldn’t have said so. Read our opening verse again: “…hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” Seeing someone else do what God told you to do is one of life’s deepest pains. Think about Saul for example; when God called Saul to be king of Israel, He promised him an eternal dynasty. Saul however lost it, and David got it (1 Samuel 13:13-14).

Whatever assignment is given to you to carry out in the house of God, hallow it. Do it joyfully and do it as unto Christ. Handle it with great care, because at the end of the day, the Bible says we’ll all give account to God for all that we did. Also, there’s a crown waiting, and it’s a crown of righteousness for all who obeyed Him and fulfilled their assignment.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I recognize the spiritual treasures you have entrusted to me and I hold fast to them diligently. I thank you for the grace you’ve given me to complete every assignment. I refuse to be swayed by offence or distractions, but I remain resolute, steadfast, always abounding in the work of the Lord, committed to fulfilling your purposes, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

He Abolished Death

“이제는 우리 구주 그리스도 예수의 나타나심으로 말미암아 나타났으니 그는 사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신지라”(딤후 1:10)

몇 년 전 제가 오늘의 본문 구절을 접했을 때, 잠시 동안 저는 내용을 이해하지 못했습니다. “바울은 진짜 예수님이 사망을 폐하셨다고 말한걸까?” 저는 이 구절을 깊이 공부하고, 그리스어 원어를 찾아보고, 사용된 모든 단어를 분석했습니다. 그렇게 공부하고나자 이 구절이 말 그대로 예수 그리스도가 사망을 폐하셨다는 뜻이라는 것을 깨달았습니다.

어떤 사람들은 이에 대해 바울이 영적인 죽음을 이야기한 것이라고 이해하려고 합니다. 전혀 아닙니다! 오늘의 본문 구절에서 예수님이 사망을 폐하셨을 뿐 아니라 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신 것을 보십시오.

사망이 영적인 죽음이라면 썩지 않을 것은 무슨 의미입니까? 성경은 영적으로 썩지 않을 것을 말한 것입니까? 그런 표현은 말이 되지 않습니다. 사실 그것은 모순입니다. 따라서, 바울이 썩지 않을 것을 언급한 이유는 그가 육신적인 죽음을 말했기 때문입니다.

그러나 어떤 사람들은 고린도전서 15:26과 같은 내용으로 인해 혼란스러워 합니다. “맨 나중에 멸망 받을 원수는 사망이니라” 그래서 그들은 “우리는 여전히 사망을 다뤄야 합니다. 사망은 가장 마지막에 사라질 원수입니다.”라고 말합니다. 아닙니다. 성경이 말하는 내용은 그렇지 않습니다.

마치 요한계시록에서 “내가 또 들으니 하늘에 큰 음성이 있어 이르되 이제 우리 하나님의 구원과 능력과 나라와 또 그의 그리스도의 권세가 나타났으니…”(계 12:10) 라고 말하는 내용과 같습니다. 그 음성이 말한 “이제 구원이 나타났으니”는 모든 사람이 처음으로 구원받았다는 뜻은 아닙니다.

따라서 성경에서 사망이 멸망받을 마지막 원수라고 말할 때는 불못에 던져질 영인 사망을 말하는 것입니다. “사망과 음부도 불못에 던져지니 이것은 둘째 사망 곧 불못이라”(계 20:14) 그 때에 사망은 멸망될 것입니다. 그러나 우리는 이미 사망을 이겼습니다. 사망의 법은 폐해졌습니다. 주님은 하늘에서 헛되이 오신 것이 아닙니다. 그분은 헛되이 죽지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 사망을 폐하고 그 일을 성취하셨습니다! 하나님을 송축합니다!

고백

사랑하는 아버지, 죽음과 지옥과 무덤에 대한 우리의 승리에 감사드립니다. 우리를 복음을 통해 생명과 썩지 않을 것에 이르게 하시니 감사합니다. 나는 그리스도 예수의 생명을 주는 영으로 태어났습니다. 따라서 나는 생명을 주는 영이며 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법으로 삽니다. 아멘.

HE ABOLISHED DEATH

“But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Timothy 1:10).

When I came across this verse years ago, for a second I thought I didn’t see it. “Did Paul actually say Jesus Christ abolished death?” I wondered. I studied the verse in-depth, looking in the original Greek, and dissecting every word used. I found out after my study that the verse meant exactly what it said: Jesus Christ abolished death.

Some people try to reason it out and say Paul was referring to spiritual death. A thousand times, no! Observe from our opening verse that Jesus not only abolished death, He brought life and immortality to light.

If the death was spiritual death, what about immortality? Could the Bible have meant spiritual immortality? That expression makes no sense; in fact, it’s a contradiction. Thus, the reason Paul made reference to immortality is because he was talking about physical death.

Some people however get troubled by what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:26: “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” So they say, “We still have death to deal with; it’s the last enemy to be destroyed.” No, that’s not what the Scripture is saying and I’ll explain.

It’s like when the Bible says in the book of Revelation, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God…” (Revelation 12:10). The fact that the voice said, “Now is come salvation,” didn’t mean everyone in the world was receiving salvation for the first time. People had been saved before then.

So, when the Bible says death is the last enemy to be destroyed, it’s talking about death as a spirit that would be cast into the lake of fire: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death” (Revelation 20:14). That’s when death will be destroyed. But already, it has been overcome; the law of death has been abrogated. The Master didn’t come from heaven for nothing. He didn’t die for nothing. He came to abolish death and He achieved it! Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for our victory over death, hell and the grave; thank you for bringing us into life and immortality through the gospel. I’m born of the life-giving Spirit of Christ Jesus. Therefore, I’m a life-giving spirit and I live by the law of the spirit of life in Jesus Christ Amen.

The Second Coming Is Not For The Saints

“… 주 예수께서 자기의 능력의 천사들과 함께 하늘로부터 불꽃 가운데에 나타나실 때에 하나님을 모르는 자들과 우리 주 예수의 복음에 복종하지 않는 자들에게 형벌을 내리시리니”(살후 1:7-8)

대부분의 사람들은 휴거와 그리스도의 재림을 구별하는 것에 대해 혼란스러워합니다. 그러나 성경은 이 두 가지 사건을 명확히 설명합니다.

첫째, 그리스도의 재림은 그리스도인들을 위한 것이 아닙니다. 교회의 휴거는 그리스도인들을 위한 것이며 재림 전에 일어날 것입니다.

그리스도의 재림 때 우리는 그분과 함께하겠지만, 재림은 심판의 시기입니다. 그분의 진노의 날, 심판의 날이라고 불리는 때입니다(살후 1:7). 이 심판은 그분의 천년왕국이 세워지기 전에 있을 것입니다. 예수님은 마태복음 24:29에서 친히 말씀하셨습니다. “그 날 환난 후에 즉시…” 이는 그리스도의 재림이 대환난 후에 일어날 것임을 알려줍니다.

마태복음 24:30은 말합니다. “그 때에 인자의 징조가 하늘에서 보이겠고 그 때에 땅의 모든 족속들이 통곡하며 그들이 인자가 구름을 타고 능력과 큰 영광으로 오는 것을 보리라” 그들은 예수님을 기대하지도, 믿지도 않았기 때문에 슬퍼하게 될 것입니다.

그러나 데살로니가후서 1:10에서 말하는 바에 주목해 보십시오. “그 날에 그분께서 오셔서 자신의 성도들 가운데서 영광을 받으시고 믿는 모든 자들 가운데서 칭송을 받으시리니 (이는 너희가 우리의 증언을 너희 가운데서 믿었기 때문이라.)” 이 구절은 예수님이 성도들에 “의해” 영광 받는다고 말하지 않습니다. 성도들 가운데서 영광을 받으신다고 말합니다. 여기서 중요한 점은 예수님이 우리들 가운데서 영광스러워지시고 우리를 보는 사람들이 우리 안에 계신 그분을 경배하게 될 것입니다. 그들은 우리 가운데 있는 그분의 영광에 놀라게 될 것입니다.

이는 요한일서 3장에서 사도 요한이 말한 바와 일치합니다. “…그가 나타나시면 우리가 그와 같을 줄을 아는 것은 그의 참모습 그대로 볼 것이기 때문이니”(요일 3:2) 예수님이 오실 때 우리는 그분과 함께 오고, 그분과 같이 보일 것입니다. 사람들은 우리 안에서 그분의 영광을 볼 것이고, 그 영광에 놀라게 될 것입니다. 할렐루야!

사랑하는 아버지, 하나님의 영과 말씀으로 인해 나는 교회의 휴거를 준비하고, 날마나 주님을 위해 살아갑니다. 나는 사랑 안에서 행하며 내 믿음은 활성화되어 주님이 나타나실 때 그분을 만나도록 끌어올려집니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE SECOND COMING IS NOT FOR THE SAINTS

“…when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8).

The distinction between the Rapture and the Second Coming of Christ, for most people, has been a source of confusion. Nevertheless, the scriptures unambiguously delineate these two distinct events.

First, the Second Coming of Christ is not intended for Christians. The rapture of the Church is meant for Christians, and it will occur before the Second Coming.

In the Second Coming of Christ, we’ll come together with Him, but it’s primarily a time of judgment. It’s called the day of His wrath, the day of His judgment (2 Thessalonians 1:7). This judgment takes place before He establishes the 1000 years of peace. In Matthew 24:29, where Jesus Himself speaks about this, He said, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days…” This indicates that the Second Coming of Christ will occur after the Great Tribulation.

Matthew 24:30 says, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” They will mourn because they weren’t expecting Him, they didn’t believe in Him.

But notice what it says in the 10th verse; this judgment will take place “When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” Observe that it doesn’t say when He shall come to be glorified “by” His saints, but “in” His saints. The significance here is that He will be glorified in us, and those who see us will admire Him in us. They’d wonder at His glory in us.

This aligns with what John said in 1 John 3, “… when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” When He comes, we come with Him, looking like Him; they’ll see His glory in us, and they’ll wonder at it. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, by your Spirit and your Word, I’m prepared for the rapture of the Church, living my life for the Lord, every day. I walk in love, and my faith is activated to be caught up to meet the Lord at His appearing, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Practise For Us

“본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품 속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라”(요 1:18)

오늘의 본문 구절에 등장하는 “나타나다”는 그리스어 “엑세게마이(exegeomai)”에서 유래되었으며, 이는 익히다, 펼치다 등의 의미입니다. 따라서 이 구절에서 말하는 바는 예수님이 우리에게 신성을 보여주셨다는 것입니다. 성경에 기록된 그분이 어떻게 살고 행하셨는지에 대한 내용은 우리가 왕국의 삶을 어떻게 살아야 하는지 알게 하시려고 그분께서 보여주신 것입니다.

성경이 하나님께서 우리에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하셨다고 말하는 것은 당연합니다. “이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라”(벧전 2:21) 예수님은 우리에게 하나님과 같은 생명을 보여주셨습니다. 그분은 우리에게 의를 보여주셨습니다.

예수님은 우리가 하나님이 어떤 분이신지 알 수 있도록 오셨습니다. 요한복음 1:14은 말합니다. “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라” 또한 요한복음 14:9은 말합니다. “… 나를 본 자는 아버지를 보았거늘 어찌하여 아버지를 보이라 하느냐” 놀라운 말씀입니다!

하나님은 당신이 이와 동일한 의식을 갖기 원하십니다. 하나님은 당신이 예수님처럼 생각하고 말하기 원하십니다. 예수님의 인격과 성품이 당신 안에서 그리고 당신을 통해 얼마나 표현되고 있습니까? 에베소서 5:1-2은 말합니다. “그러므로 사랑을 받는 자녀 같이 너희는 하나님을 본받는 자가 되고 그리스도께서 너희를 사랑하신 것 같이 너희도 사랑 가운데서 행하라 그는 우리를 위하여 자신을 버리사 향기로운 제물과 희생제물로 하나님께 드리셨느니라”

“본 받는 자”라는 단어는 모방자라는 뜻의 그리스어 “미메테스(mimetes)”에서 유래되었습니다. 우리가 하나님을 본받을 수 있는 유일한 이유는 예수 그리스도 안에서 하나님을 봤기 때문입니다. 예수님은 하나님을 나타내기 위해 오셨습니다. 예를 들어, 우리가 자주 하나님이 얼마나 우리를 사랑하시는지 얘기하지만, 예수님의 삶을 보기 전까지는 그 사랑을 설명할 수 없었습니다. 이제 우리는 그리스도께서 우리를 사랑하셨듯이 사랑 가운데 행할 수 있습니다. 그리스도께서 하나님의 사랑을 어떻게 실천하는지 보여주셨습니다. 할렐루야!

기도

나는 사랑과 의 가운데 행하며 나의 세상에 그리스도의 성품을 나타냅니다. 나는 예수님처럼 생각하고 말하고 행동하며 내 안에 있는 하나님의 생명을 표현하고 내 안에 있는 하나님의 신성한 성품으로 내 세상에 영향을 미칩니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

A PRACTISE FOR US

“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him” (John 1:18).

The word declared in our opening verse is from the Greek “exegeomai” and it means to rehearse or unfold. So, what that verse is saying is that Jesus rehearsed divinity to us. How He lived, and the things He did, as recorded in the Scriptures, was a practice for us to see and know how to live the life of the Kingdom.

No wonder the Bible says He has given us an example that we should follow His steps: “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving is an example, that ye should follow his steps” (1 Peter 2:21). Jesus rehearsed the God-life to us. He rehearsed righteousness to us.

He came to live before us, so we could know what God is like. John 1:14 says, “And the Word was made (became) flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” He said in John 14:9, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” Amazing words!

God wants you to have the same consciousness. He wants you to think and talk like Jesus. How much of the person and character of Jesus is expressed in and through you? Ephesians 5:1-2 says, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

The word “followers,” is from the Greek “mimetes,” meaning to be an imitator; to copy another. The only reason we can imitate God is because we’ve seen Him in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to unveil Him. For example, we often talk about how God loves us, but we couldn’t describe that love until we saw Jesus in action. Now we can walk in love, as Christ also loved us. Christ showed us how to practice God’s love. Hallelujah!

Dominion Over Darkness

“그가 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내사 그의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮기셨으니”(골 1:13)

그리스도인들에게는 귀신을 쫓아내는 일에 관한 특별한 부르심이나 직분, 독특한 은사가 없습니다. 성경 어디에도 그러한 은사는 언급되어 있지 않습니다. 오히려 성경은 모든 그리스도인이 어떤 예외 없이 귀신을 쫓아낼 수 있는 권세와 능력이 가지고 있다고 말합니다. 이 진리는 예수님의 말씀에 확실하게 나타납니다. “믿는 자들에게는 이런 표적이 따르리니 곧 그들이 내 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며…”(막 16:17-18)

주님께서 말씀하신 내용을 주의 깊게 보십시오. “믿는 자들에게는 이런 표적이 따르리니…” 말씀은 “특별한 은사나 능력을 가진 자들”이라고 말하지 않고 예수님을 믿는 자들이라고 말합니다. 여기에는 당신도 포함됩니다. 사탄에 대한 우리의 통치권과 우월함은 그리스도 안에 있는 우리의 정체성과 예수 이름을 사용할 수 있는 권세 덕분입니다. 따라서, 귀신을 쫓아내기 위해 “강력한 기도”를 해야 한다는 생각은 불필요합니다. 당신이 해야 할 일은 예수 이름 안에 있는 능력을 인식하고, 귀신을 굴복시키는 일에 사용하는 것뿐입니다.

사도 바울은 골로새서 1:13에서 핵심적인 실재를 상기시켜 줍니다. 우리는 사탄의 권세 아래 있지 않습니다. 이 실재는 당신의 삶에서 분명하게 나타나야 합니다. 원수의 방해 없이 자유롭게 사십시오. 당신의 삶은 당신이 원하는 만큼 영광스러울 수 있습니다. 당신은 자신의 갈망을 실재화할 수 있는 권세를 가지고 있습니다.

마귀를 해결해 달라고 하나님께 간구할 필요가 없습니다. 그분은 당신이 이미 오기 오래전에 이미 원수에 대한 완전한 승리를 거두셨기 때문입니다. 예수님은 2천 년 전에 단호하게 마귀를 처리하셨습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “통치자들과 권세들을 무력화하여 드러내어 구경거리로 삼으시고 십자가로 그들을 이기셨느니라”(골 2:15)

그리고 어떤 일이 일어났는지 아십니까? 예수님이 그들을 물리치셨을 때, 당신은 그분 안에 있었습니다. 그리스도 안에서 당신은 사탄을 어둠의 권세를 이겼습니다. 바로 이것이 당신이 그들보다 우월하고 그들을 다스리고 통치할 수 있는 이유입니다. 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 사탄과 어둠의 권세에 대한 교회의 권세와 능력에 감사드립니다. 나는 영광, 통치권, 능력 안에 그리스도와 함께 앉아 있습니다. 나는 오늘 그리고 항상 이 세상의 상황과 요소들을 다스리고 통치합니다. 내가 예수 그리스도의 이름 안에, 그 이름으로 살고 있기 때문입니다. 아멘.

DOMINION OVER DARKNESS

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13).

There’s no specific calling, office or a unique gift among Christians that’s exclusively for casting out demons. Nowhere in the Bible is such a gift mentioned. Rather, what the Bible says is that every Christian, without exception, has the authority and ability to cast out demons. This truth is firmly established in the words of Jesus: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17-18).

I want you to carefully observe what the Master said: “These signs shall follow them that believe,” not “them with special gifts or ability,” but those who believe in Him. That includes you. Our dominion and superiority over Satan is simply because of who we are in Christ and the power of attorney He’s given to us to use His Name. So, the idea of needing someone to pray a “powerful prayer” for you to cast the devil out is unnecessary. What you simply need is the recognition of the power in the Name of Jesus and use it to subdue demons.

In Colossians 1:13, the apostle Paul reminds us of a fundamental reality: we’re not under the jurisdiction of Satan. This truth should be evident in your life; live free from the encumbrances of the enemy. Your life can be as glorious as you desire it to be; you have the authority to make it happen.

There’s no need to implore God to deal with the devil for you, because He has already executed the full victory over the enemy long before you came on the scene. Almost two thousand years ago, Jesus decisively dealt with the devil. The Bible says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15).

And guess what? When Jesus defeated them, you were in Him. In Christ, you defeated Satan and the principalities of darkness. It’s the reason you’re superior to them and can reign and rule over them. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the authority and power you have given to the Church over Satan and the principalities of darkness. I’m seated with Christ in glory, dominion and power. I reign and rule over the circumstances and elements of this world, today and always, because I live in, and by the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
