말씀으로 자라나십시오

Being Raised By The Word

“우리가 그의 것이라고 하면 그리스도를 본받아야 합니다”(요일 2:6)

사람의 영을 위한 훈련이 있지만, 또한 사람의 영의 성장이 있습니다. 이 마지막 때에 우리는 말씀과 성령의 사역을 통해 하나님의 백성들을 효과적인 증인으로 키우고 있습니다.

그리스도의 몸은 자라고 있습니다. 그리고 이를 통해 훨씬 더 많은 사람들이 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 자라날 수 있음에 하나님께 감사드립니다. 마치 갓 태어난 아기들을 지켜보는 것과 같습니다. 자녀가 다양한 성장 단계를 거쳐가는 모습을 지켜보는 것은 부모에게 기쁨을 불러일으킵니다.

아이가 일정 수준의 성장을 하고 나면, 부모가 해야 할 일은 그저 필요한 가르침과, 안내, 감독 및 지시를 하는 것뿐입니다. 그들은 아이가 잘 먹고 있는지, 올바른 대우를 받고 있는지, 적절한 환경에서 자라나고 있는지, 몸을 잘 단련하고 있는지 등을 책임지고 지켜봅니다.

얼마 지나지 않아 아기들은 관찰을 통해 부모처럼 말하고 행동하려고 시도합니다. 그렇게 자라납니다. 당신이 하는 일이 아이들에게 영향을 미치며, 그들은 점점 더 당신처럼 되는 경향이 있습니다. 영적으로도 똑같습니다. 사도 바울은 고린도전서 11:1에서 이렇게 말했습니다. “내가 그리스도를 본받는 자가 된 것 같이 너희는 나를 본받는 자가 되라.”

주님께서 우리와 교제하시고, 말씀하시고, 가르치시고, 먹이시고, 우리 앞에서 사역을 행하십니다. 그리고 우리에게는 좋은 그림을 제시하는 그분의 말씀이 있기 때문에 점점 더 그분처럼 행동하고, 말하고, 그분이 원하시는 대로 다른 사람들과 관계를 맺게 됩니다.

성경은 말씀합니다. “또 어려서부터 성경을 알았나니 성경은 능히 너로 하여금 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암아 구원에 이르는 지혜가 있게 하느니라”(딤후 3:15). 말씀으로 자라날 수 있도록 당신의 마음을 여십시오. 말씀이 당신에게 주는 사랑, 소망, 믿음, 능력, 형통, 진리, 힘, 그리고 건전한 생각을 온유함으로 받으십시오. 말씀을 품으십시오. 말씀은 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암는 구원을 통해 당신을 지혜롭게 만들 수 있습니다. 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 내 삶은 그리스도가 누구인지에 대한 완벽한 표현입니다. 나는 오늘 내 생각과 말과 행동을 통해 그리스도를 내 세상에 드러냅니다. 세상은 나의 눈에서 예수님을 봅니다. 나는 그들이 부인할 수 없는 사랑을 보여줍니다. 그분의 신성한 생명이 나를 통해 나타납니다. 나는 그리스도 안에 있는 신성한 생명과 근원을 의식하며, 그분의 지혜와 역량과 능력이 내 안에서 나를 통해 역사하고 있음을 인식합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

BEING RAISED BY THE WORD

“If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ”(1 John 2:6 CEV).

There is the education of the human spirit, but there’s also the raising of the human spirit. In these last days, through the ministry of the Word and the Spirit, we’re raising God’s people to become effective witnesses.

The Body of Christ is growing, and thanks be unto God for making it possible for a whole lot more people to hear the Word of God and be raised. It’s akin to watching newborn babies grow up; it evokes some kind of excitement in parents as they watch their children go through various stages of growth.

At a certain level of growth, all that the parents are required to do is give the required instructions, guidance, supervision and direction. They ensure the babies are feeding well, getting the right treatment, living in the right environment, exercising their bodies, and so on.

But soon enough, through observation, the babies begin to talk and attempt to act like the parents. That way, they’re raised; the things you do affect them, and they tend to become more and more like you. It’s the same thing spiritually. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”

Now, because the Lord is in fellowship with us, talking to us, teaching us, feeding us and doing things before us, and we have His Word to give us a good picture, we become more and more like Him, acting, talking, relating with others as He would.

The Bible says, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15). Open your heart to be raised by the Word. Receive with meekness the love, hope, faith, power, prosperity, truth, strength, soundness of mind and body that the Word brings to you. Embrace the Word, which is able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, my life is the expression of all that Christ is. I unveil Him to my world today through my thoughts, words, and actions. The world sees Jesus in my eyes; I show them love they can’t deny. His divine life is manifested through me. I live in the consciousness of my divine life and origin in Christ, knowing that His wisdom, ability, and power are working in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Knowing Who The Christian Is

“그러나 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요 거룩한 나라요 그의 소유가 된 백성이니…”(벧전 2:9)

아마 당신은 사복음서를 읽고 난 뒤에도 그리스도인의 삶과 정체성에 대한 그림을 보지 못할 수 있습니다. 이는 복음서가 부활 후 예수님의 삶에 대한 완전한 그림을 우리에게 제공하지 않기 때문입니다. 그분의 부활 이전의 행적은 아주 짧게 적혀 있습니다.

그것이 예수님께서 제자들에게 성령님에 대해 말씀하신 여러 이유 중 하나입니다. 성령님은 진리의 영이시며, 그들에게 장차 다가올 일을 보여주시고, 그들을 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하실 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다(요 16:12-13). 따라서 그리스도인들이 신약을 공부할 때 그리스도인의 삶의 방식을 가장 잘 참고할 수 있는 말씀은 서신서입니다.

어떤 사람들은 “사도행전은 어떻습니까?”라고 묻습니다. 사도행전은 갓 태어난 교회의 행보에 대한 기록입니다. 사도행전의 교회는 이제 막 믿음 안에서 시작했기 때문에, 그리스도인의 삶을 나타낸 가장 최고의 예시가 아닐 수도 있습니다. 하지만 좋은 시작점인 것은 분명합니다. 그러나 새로운 피조물의 삶과 새로운 피조물이 정말 누구인지에 대한 더 깊고 위대한 통찰을 얻으려면 서신서를 공부해야 합니다!

예를 들어, 바울이 로마 교회에 보낸 편지인 로마서는 그리스도의 최고 권위와 그리스도 안에 있는 믿음이 구원의 근원임을 설명하는 교리를 특별하게 풀어냅니다. 또한 에베소 교회에 보낸 바울의 아름다운 편지를 생각해 보십시오. 에베소서는 어떻게 갓 거듭난 사람들이 하나님을 아는 영적인 지식과 왕국의 실재 안에서 성장할 수 있는지 자세히 설명합니다.

베드로의 편지들도 떠올려 보십시오. 베드로후서 1:4은 말합니다. “그 보배롭고 지극히 큰 약속을 우리에게… 신성한 성품에 참여하는 자가 되게 하려 하셨느니라.” 그리스도인이 누구인지에 대한 얼마나 아름다운 설명인지요! 우리는 하나님의 성품에 참여하고 하나님의 신성한 본성을 나누는 사람들입니다. 하나님과 같은 종류의 존재들이며 하나님의 생명을 운반하는 자들입니다. 얼마나 복된 실재인지요!

또한 서신서에는 그리스도의 천년 왕국에 관한 예언적 말씀도 있습니다. 주님께서 천년 왕국에서 유대인들에게 약속하신 모든 것은 이미 오늘날 교회가 누리도록 주신 것입니다.

그러므로 그리스도인의 삶과 그리스도인이 진정 누구인지 알고 싶다면, 사도행전과 서신서에 있는 계시와 훈계, 그리고 천년 왕국의 유대인들에게 예언적으로 주어진 모든 약속들이 필요합니다. 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 나는 그리스도 안에 있는 새로운 생명의 실재를 공부하고 영적 성장을 얻기 위해 양육되며 강건해지고 있습니다. 나는 성령님을 의지하여 발전하고 있으며, 나를 위한 말씀의 유익은 멈추지 않습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

KNOWING WHO THE CHRISTIAN IS

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…”(1 Peter 2:9).

You may read the four Gospels and not get a picture of the Christian life and who the Christian really is. This is because the Gospels don’t completely give us the full picture of the life of Jesus after His resurrection. The account of His life before His ascension was very brief.

It’s part of the reasons He told His disciples about the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of truth—who will show them things to come and guide them into all truth (John 16:12-13). Therefore, the most appropriate reference point for the Christian, as you study the New Testament, is the Epistles.

Someone might ask, “How about the book of Acts?” The book of Acts is a catalogue of the acts of a baby Church. The Church in the Book of Acts had just started out in the Faith, so it might not be the best expression of the Christian life; though it’s a good place to start. But for deeper and greater insights into the life of the new creation, and who the creation is, you’d have to study the Epistles!

For example, Paul’s epistle to the Roman church—the Book of Romans—is an extraordinary exposition of the doctrine of the supremacy of Christ and of faith in Christ as the source of salvation. Also, consider his beautiful letter to the Ephesian church; it details how new converts can grow in their spiritual knowledge of God and in the realities of the Kingdom.

Think about Peter’s writings; in chapter one verse four of his second epistle, he said, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature….” What a description of who the Christian is: we’re participators or sharers of God’s divine nature; associates of the God-kind—carriers or conveyors of the God-life. What a blessed reality!

There’s also the prophetic word on the millennial reign of Christ: everything the Lord promised to the Jews in the millennial reign is what He already gave the Church to enjoy today.

Therefore, if you want to know about the Christian life and who the Christian is, you need the book of Acts, the revelations and admonitions in the epistles, and all the promises prophetically given to the Jews in the Millennium. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m thoroughly nourished, nurtured, sustained, and fortified to attain spiritual maturity through the study of the realities of the new life in Christ. I make progress by the Spirit, and my profiting by the Word is unstoppable, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

예수님은 주님이자 하나님이십니다

“… 그분[하나님]께서 사람의 육신 안에 나타나시고, [성령] 영 안에서 의롭다 하심을 얻으시고, 천사들에게 보이시고, 만국에 선포되시고, 세상에서 믿기시고, [그리고 난 뒤] 영광 속으로 올려지셨느니라”(딤전 3:16, 확대번역본)

오늘의 본문 구절은 예수님이 누구이신 지를 명확하게 보여줍니다. 그분은 하나님이시며, 사람의 육신으로 나타나시고, 성령으로 의롭다 하심을 얻으시고, 천사들에게 보이시고, 온 세상에 전파되시고, 세상이 그분을 믿으며, 영광 중으로 올려진 하나님이십니다! 할렐루야!

이는 마가복음 14:60-63에 나오는 급조된 예수님의 심문을 떠올리게 합니다. 대제사장들은 유대인 공회와 함께 예수님을 사형 처분을 내릴 수 있는 증거를 찾아보았지만 어떠한 잘못도 찾을 수 없었습니다. 그러자 그들은 예수님에게 물었습니다. “…네가 찬송 받을 이의 아들 그리스도냐?”

주님의 대답은 분명하고 명확했습니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다. “…내가 그니라. 인자가 권능의 우편에 앉은 것과 하늘 구름을 타고 오는 것을 너희가 보리라.” 이 말을 두고 그들은 예수님께 사형을 선고하고 끌고 갔습니다. 예수님이 스스로를 육신을 입은 하나님이라고 선언했기 때문입니다. 그러나 그것이 바로 예수님의 정체성입니다. “예수님은 하나님의 아들이시다”라는 말은 그분이 육신을 입으신 하나님이라는 의미입니다.

하나님은 인간의 몸으로 우리에게 오셨습니다. 이것이 예수님이 십자가에 못 박히신 이유입니다. 바울이 삼위일체의 모든 충만, 즉 성부, 성자, 성령의 충만이 예수님 안에 장막을 치셨다고 말한 것은 놀라운 일이 아닙니다(골 1:19).

하나님의 보좌 앞에 설 때, 당신은 눈부신 빛만 보이는 아버지, 그분의 보좌 옆에 서 계신 주 예수님, 그리고 그 보좌 위에 있는 새의 형상의 성령님을 보지 않을 것입니다. 그렇지 않습니다! 예수님은 보좌에 계시며, 아버지는 그분 안에 계십니다. 예수님은 신성의 완전한 화신이십니다. 할렐루야!

JESUS IS LORD AND GOD

“…He [God] was made visible in human flesh, justified and vindicated in the [Holy] Spirit, was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, [and] taken up in glory”(1 Timothy 3:16 AMPC).

Our opening verse leaves no doubt about who Jesus is; He is God, made visible in human flesh, justified and vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory! Hallelujah!

It brings to mind the story of the hastily prearranged prosecution of Jesus in Mark 14:60–63. The high priests conspired with the Jewish Council to find some evidence against Jesus by which they could sentence Him to death, but they couldn’t find any. Then they asked Jesus, “…Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”

The Master’s response was unambiguous and unequivocal. He said, “…I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” For this, they condemned Him to death and took Him away because He dared to declare Himself to be God in human flesh. But that’s who He is. To say “Jesus is the Son of God” means He’s God in human flesh.

God came to us in a human body. That was what He was crucified for. No wonder Paul said, the fullness of the Godhead, that is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—the totality of Deity—is tabernacled in Jesus (Colossians 1:19).

When you stand before the throne of God, you aren’t going to be seeing some blinding light as the Father, and then the Lord Jesus standing beside Him on the throne; neither will you see the Holy Spirit like a bird on top of the throne, no! Jesus is on the throne and the Father is in Him. He is the complete embodiment of Deity. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Blessed Lord Jesus, you’re God who appeared in human form, believed on in the world, and taken up to heaven. How excellent is your Name in all the earth, O, Lord! You’re the complete embodiment of Deity. I worship you for who you are, and thank you for revealing yourself to your Church. Your glory is everlasting. Amen.

Submit To His Will

하나님은 당신이 스스로를 사랑하는 것보다 당신을 더 사랑하십니다. 그분은 당신에게 가장 최고의 것이 무엇인지 아시며 항상 당신에게 그 최고를 주기 원하십니다. 그러므로 당신은 살아가면서 하나님을 신뢰할 수 있습니다. 이사야 1:19에서 하나님은 말씀하셨습니다. “너희가 즐겨 순종하면 땅의 아름다운 소산을 먹을 것이요.” 리빙 바이블 번역은 이 구절을 아주 환상적으로 표현했습니다. “내가 너희를 도울 수 있게 순종하면, 나는 너희를 번영케 할 것이다!”

우리가 그분의 순종하는 자녀라는 사실에 하나님께 감사드립니다! 따라서 당신은 그분이 당신을 부요하게 하시고 당신의 삶을 영광스럽게 만드실 것을 믿을 수 있습니다. 당신이 할 일은 그저 그분의 말씀 안에 살면서 그분의 뜻에 순종하는 것입니다. 그분의 손아귀에서 벗어나려고 애쓰고 고군분투하는 자들은 하나님의 말씀과 사랑에 무지한 자들입니다. 그들은 하나님의 말씀과 뜻과 목적에 완전히 내어지지 않았습니다.

당신이 하나님을 안다면 안식 가운데 거합니다. 당신은 하나님께서 당신의 성공을 위해 더 열정적이심을 알게 됩니다. 몇 년 전, 이 사실을 발견하고 제 인생은 완전히 바뀌었습니다. 이 사실은 제가 하나님의 선택에 순종하고 그분의 말씀을 전심으로 따르게 만들었습니다.

사랑하는 아버지, 아버지의 뜻을 행할 수 있도록 성령을 통해 나를 강건하게 해주심에 감사합니다. 나는 오직 아버지만을 위해 살며, 내 인생에 대한 당신의 계획과 목적에 온전히 순종합니다. 내 삶은 매일 당신의 뜻을 표현하는 도구입니다. 그리고 나는 영광과 기쁨으로 나를 향한 당신의 목적과 운명을 이룹니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

SUBMIT TO HIS WILL

“Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will”(Psalm 40:7).

God loves you more than you love yourself. He knows what’s best for you and always wants the best for you. Therefore, you can trust Him with your life. In Isaiah 1:19, He said, “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” The Living Bible renders it in a rather fascinating way. It says, “If you will only let me help you, if you will only obey, then I will make you rich!”

Thank God we’re His obedient children! So you can trust Him to make you rich and make your life glorious. Your responsibility is to submit to His will by living in His Word. It’s those who are ignorant of God’s Word and of His love that struggle and try to wrest the steering-wheel of their lives from His grasp. They haven’t fully yielded to His Word, to His will and purpose.

When you know Him, you’re at rest. You discover that He’s more passionate for your success than you could ever be. That discovery changed my life many years ago. It made me submit to His choices and follow His Word wholeheartedly.

Accept His love. Colossians 1:13 AMPC says He’s transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. Have confidence in His love. Dare to believe Him, and submit to the destiny that He’s chosen for you. It’s a unique destiny. And in His Word, He’s laid out the blueprint for your life; how you should live. Follow His Word, for that’s how you submit to His will. His Word is His will expressed.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for strengthening me by your Spirit to do your will always. I live for you alone, fully submitted to your plans and purpose for my life. My life is a daily expression of your will, and I fulfil your purpose and destiny for me with glory and joy, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Knowing The Word Of God

“여호와의 교훈은 정직하여 마음을 기쁘게 하고 여호와의 계명은 순결하여 눈을 밝게 하시도다”(시 19:8)

하나님의 말씀을 아는 것의 중요성을 강조할 때, 어떤 사람들은 종종 신학대학이나 종교 기관에서 “성경 지식”을 얻는 것을 떠올립니다. 성경 지식을 얻는 것이 도움이 될 수도 있지만 성령님의 계시와 인도로 말씀을 아는 것과는 다릅니다.

몇몇 성경 학자들은 성경의 지식을 수업 과정으로만 공부해서 진짜 하나님의 말씀이 무엇인지 모르고 있는 경우도 있습니다. 모든 성경 구절은 하나님의 숨결입니다. 즉 성경의 내용과 메시지는 하나님으로부터 왔으며 그분의 성령의 감동으로 쓰여진 것입니다. 성경은 하나님의 진리의 책이고, 믿을 수 있으며 의지할 수 있습니다.

디모데후서 3:16(확대번역본)은 말합니다. “모든 성경은 하나님의 숨결로 (그분의 영감으로) 된 것으로 교리와 책망과 바로잡음과 의로 훈육하기(경건한 삶을 사는 것과, 생각과 목적과 행동에 있어서 하나님의 뜻을 따르기)에 유익하니.” 히브리서 4:12은 하나님의 말씀의 특별한 점을 말해줍니다. “하나님의 말씀은 살아 있고 활력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 판단하나니.”

그렇다면 하나님의 말씀은 무엇입니까? 말씀은 하나님으로부터 온 메세지이며, 사람을 하나님의 사랑의 교제 가운데로 부르신 그분의 사역, 뜻, 생각, 계획, 목적, 추구를 드러내고 전달합니다.

말씀은 그리스도의 계시, 공급, 온전함, 그리고 지시들을 담고 있으며, 이는 교훈과 책망과 바르게 함과 훈계와 의로 교육하기에 유익합니다. 그러므로 말씀을 알고 말씀의 지식을 가지고 있다는 것은 곧 어떤 것에도 하나님의 생각을 알고 있다는 것입니다. 당신은 그분의 생각, 의견, 아이디어 및 계획을 알고 있습니다. 당신은 언제나 어떤 일에서도 하나님의 생각과 그분의 마음을 들여다봅니다. 얼마나 놀라운 일입니까!

KNOWING THE WORD OF GOD

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes”(Psalm 19:8).

When we emphasize the importance of knowing the Word of God, some think we mean acquiring “Bible Knowledge” from a university or religious institution. That may have its place; but knowing the Word by revelation and guidance of the Holy Spirit is different.

There’re Bible scholars who studied Bible knowledge as a course but have no idea what the Word of God is. All scripture is God-breathed; that is, the contents and the message of the Bible came from God and are inspired by His Spirit. It’s His document of truth, and it’s trustworthy, and dependable.

2 Timothy 3:16 AMPC says, “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action)” Hebrews 4:12 further tells us something extraordinary about the Word of God. It says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

But then, what is the Word of God? The Word is that message from God that reveals or communicates His works, will, thoughts, plans, purposes and pursuit to bring men into or promote fellowship with Him in love. It’s His message of truth with the content and power to build His image into the life of the hearers.

Now, the content of the Word is the embodiment of Christ’s revelations, provisions, perfections and instructions, profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction and for training in righteousness. Therefore, knowing or having the knowledge of the Word means knowing God in His thoughts about anything. You know His thoughts, opinions, ideas, and agenda; you’re looking into God’s mind or His heart about anything! What a wonder!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for your Word that propels, empowers, inspires, uplifts, motivates and gives me clarity of purpose. I’m educated to know your thoughts, opinions, ideas, and agenda in the earth, as your Spirit guides me into all truth, teaching me to make the right choices and decisions that are consistent with your perfect will always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Three Important Questions

인생에는 세 가지 중요한 질문이 있습니다. “무엇을?” “어떻게?” 그리고 “왜?” 입니다! “무엇”을 아는 것은 삶을 살아가기 시작하는 것이고, “어떻게”를 아는 것은 성공하기 시작하는 것입니다. 그리고 “왜”를 아는 것은 다스리기 시작하는 것입니다. 그 때가 당신이 목적을 달성하는 단계이기 때문입니다.

THREE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”(John 10:10).

There are three important questions in life: “What?” “How?” and “Why?”! To know “what” is to begin to live; to know “how” is to begin to succeed; and to know “why” is to begin to reign; because that’s when you’re fulfilling purpose.

Whether you’re asking these questions in your personal life, for your personal growth, business, job, finances, family, or ministry, these three questions will locate you. However, the most important of them is: “Why?” It’s the age-old question that mankind through all generations has grappled with.

“Why were you born?” “Why are you here on this earth at this time?” “Why are you a teacher, a doctor, a farmer, a politician, a soldier, a singer, or a minister of the Gospel?” “Why do you do what you do?” Your “Why” is your purpose, your reason for being.

Purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. It refers to intent, design, and the reason for a cause or action; and it also alludes to the relevance or usefulness of a thing.

So have you discovered your purpose? Do you know why you’re in this world? What are the intents, designs or reasons for the actions you take, and the things you do? Why were you recreated in Christ? The Word of God gives clear answers and insights into your purpose in the earth.

For example, 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” You were created to bring God glory—to show forth His praise—to set forth His wonderful deeds and display His virtues and perfections in the earth. Thus, your life should be about living for Him, pleasing Him and fulfilling the purpose for which you were born again. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m filled with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, and your purpose for my life is established in my heart. My purpose is to please you in all things, doing the good works which you’ve prearranged ahead of time. I live to fulfil my destiny in Christ and bring you glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Training For Greater Responsibilities

어제 말씀의 실재에서 우리는 하늘의 왕국(Kingdom of Heaven)의 목적이 이 땅에 하나님의 왕국을 세우는 것이라는 것을 배웠습니다. 그렇다면 하늘의 왕국은 무엇입니까? 이것은 예수 그리스도께서 머리 되신 정부를 뜻합니다. 성경은 말합니다. “… 그의 어깨에는 정사를 메었고”(사 9:6). 이것은 예수님께서 다스리시는 방식과 구조를 보여줍니다.

A TRAINING FOR GREATER RESPONSIBILITIES

“For the Kingdom of God is not just fancy talk; it is living by God’s power”(1 Corinthians 4:20 NLT).

In our previous study, we learnt about the Kingdom of heaven and how its purpose is to establish the Kingdom of God in the earth. But what’s the Kingdom of heaven? It refers to the political government of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “…and the government shall be upon his shoulder” (Isaiah 9:6). This is dealing with His structures and political arrangement.

Even though the Kingdom of heaven is in the earth and functioning, it’s not yet governing the people. To understand this, think of a political party that’s already active with members, but hasn’t assumed authority over the government of the state or nation.

When that party eventually takes over the government, everything changes. In the same way, once the Kingdom of God is truly and duly established in the earth; then, the Kingdom of heaven takes over! But for now, the political structures in the world today will continue to nose-dive, and the world will keep having more problems until the Rapture takes place. The period of tribulation will then follow, after which the Lord Jesus will show up from heaven.

The Bible says in Daniel 7:27 “And the Kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the Kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.” At His second coming, the Lord Jesus gets the Kingdom! He’ll establish His political structures on earth, and take over. Hallelujah! He’ll reign and rule and, in the end, deliver the Kingdom to God, the Father.

Understand that all the things we’re doing for the Lord on earth today aren’t an end in themselves; they’re trainings for greater Kingdom responsibilities ahead. Therefore, serve the Lord wholeheartedly, and make up your mind to accomplish big things for the Kingdom, knowing that there’s a “hereafter”.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I consciously invest time, energy and resources in the education and training of my spirit for greater Kingdom responsibilities ahead. I’m inspired and fortified for the Kingdom-life, in and by the Word. I’m positioned for greatness, living the triumphant, prosperous life through the power and effectual working of your Word in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Advancing The Kingdom

예수님께서 제자들에게 주신 주기도문의 결론 부분에서 그분은 제자들에게 이렇게 말하도록 가르치셨습니다. “나라가 아버지의 것입니다.” 여기서 예수님은 하나님의 왕국(Kingdom of God)을 의미하셨습니다. 하지만 마태복음에는 “하늘의 왕국(Kingdom of Heaven, 역자 주: 킹제임스 및 흠정역에서 사용되는 표현)”이라는 표현도 있습니다. 이 표현은 하나님의 왕국과 같은 의미로 사용되지만, 정확히는 이 둘은 다른 의미를 가지고 있습니다.

ADVANCING THE KINGDOM

“…For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”(Matthew 6:13).

In the concluding part of the format of prayer Jesus gave to His disciples, He taught them to say, “Thine is the Kingdom.” He was referring to the Kingdom of God. But in St. Mathew’s Gospel, there’s another expression, “the Kingdom of heaven,” which, though interchangeably used with the Kingdom of God, is different from it.

While the Kingdom of God refers to the rulership or dominion of God which transcends territories and is universal, the Kingdom of heaven is applied mostly in connection to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and His messianic reign. It’s that part of the Kingdom of God that’s established in the earth and is headed by Jesus.

The vision of the Kingdom of heaven is the establishment and expansion of the Kingdom of God in the earth; it’s the work of Jesus Christ, of which we, the Church, are a vital part. It’s important for us to know our role. Each one of us actually has a responsibility, first, in seeing to the expansion of the Kingdom of God, because we belong in that Kingdom: “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

The Lord’s injunction for us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness calls for every one of us to reappraise our priorities and walk accordingly. Your ultimate desire should be that the Kingdom is advancing through you as you impact your world with the Gospel.

Devote your time, efforts, and resources to the furtherance of the Gospel. There’s so much more you can do to ensure God’s Word prevails in your city, region or country, and the world.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m determined, more than ever, to spread, to the ends of the earth, the glorious news of Christ’s salvation and His wondrous works towards mankind. The Kingdom of God has been set up in my heart: the peace, beauty, glory, grace, and the life of God are fully functional in my spirit; expressed in and through me. Through me, the Word prevails in my city, region, country, and the world. Blessed be God!

오늘의 본문 구절에 나타난 “약속”으로 번역된 단어는 정확한 이해가 필요합니다. 신약에서는 이 “약속”이라고 번역된 동일한 헬라어가 약 50번 넘게 사용되었습니다. 하지만 베드로후서에서 “약속”으로 번역된 또 다른 헬라어가 있는데, 이 단어는 총 두 번 사용되었습니다. 후자는 전자와 다른 종류의 약속이었지만, 성경학자들은 이 둘을 따로 구분하지 않았습니다. 제가 이 둘의 차이를 설명 드리겠습니다.

A DIFFERENT TYPE OF PROMISE

“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”(2 Peter 1:4).

The word translated as “promises” in our opening verse needs to be properly understood. In the New Testament, the same Greek word was translated as “promise” more than fifty times. However, in 2 Peter, another Greek word was translated as “promise” twice. This was a different type of promise, but the Bible translators didn’t distinguish between the two. I’ll explain.

The first type of promise is futuristic. It’s like when one says, “I’ll give you $200,000 tomorrow.” That’s a promise. But there’s another type when someone tells you, “I’ll give you $200,000,” and then proceeds to write a cheque that’s dated today. Now, that cheque is the promise, not the money.

The promise is that if you take the cheque to the bank, the money will be there. So, it depends on whenever you want to cash it. If the first type of promise fails, there might be no consequences; but not the second one; it must not fail. If it fails, that’s a criminal offence in financial terms, because it will be a dud cheque.

This second type of promise is what’s written in our opening verse. These aren’t futuristic promises, but promises backed already with fulfillment. They’re real already, and waiting for whenever you want them “cashed.”

Observe again what the Bible says: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature….” This means that by cashing these precious promises, we become associates of the God-kind. Hallelujah!

It’s time to cash your cheques and start participating in the divine experience. But how do you cash them? It is by speaking God’s language; it’s by declaring words of faith in agreement with God.

Dear Father, I’m immensely grateful for the privilege to participate in the divine-experience. I’m an associate of the God-kind, transfigured in spirit into the image and likeness of the Son of God! I function from the place of advantage, victory, dominion and power, guided and propelled by His divine wisdom to do your will and fulfil my destiny in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

새로운 피조물을 위한 새로운 생명

A New Life For The New Creation

“너희가 서로 거짓말을 하지 말라 옛 사람과 그 행위를 벗어 버리고 새 사람을 입었으니 이는 자기를 창조하신 이의 형상을 따라 지식에까지 새롭게 하심을 입은 자니라”(골 3:9-10)

이 세상에 태어났을 때, 당신은 부모로부터 태어나 인간의 생명을 받았습니다. 이 생명은 당신이 거듭나기까지 살았던 생명입니다. 당신은 또 다른 생명인 하나님의 생명과 본성을 받았습니다. 그러면 당신에게 두 가지 생명이 있습니까? 절대 그렇지 않습니다!

그리스도인으로서 당신은 단 하나의 생명만을 가지고 있습니다. 당신이 가지고 있는 것은 하나님의 생명입니다. 인간의 생명은 하나님의 생명과 본성으로 대체되었기 때문에 더 이상 존재하지 않습니다. 당신은 추가적인 생명을 받은 것이 아닙니다. 당신의 옛 것은 새 것으로 완전히 바뀌었습니다.

고린도후서 5:17은 말합니다. “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새것이 되었도다” 이 구절에서 “피조물”이라는 단어가 사용된 것은 우리에게 이 피조물이 무엇인지 잘 알지 못했다는 사실을 알려줍니다. 이전에 본 적이 없기 때문에 이 세상이 묘사할 수 없는 완전히 새롭고 기이한 것이었습니다.

이는 요한일서 3:1에 쓰여진 내용과 비슷합니다. “보라 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 베푸사 하나님의 자녀라 일컬음을 받게 하셨는가, 우리가 그러하도다 그러므로 세상이 우리를 알지 못함은 그를 알지 못함이라.” 이제 우리가 하나님의 아들들이 되었으므로, 세상은 새로운 피조물이 된 우리를 잘 알지 못합니다.

우리는 더 이상 아픔, 질병, 실패 또는 죽음의 지배를 받지 않습니다. 우리는 새로운 피조물이며, 평범한 인간의 생명을 초월하는 하나님의 생명과 본성을 가지고 태어났습니다. 이것이 바로 그리스도의 메시지이며, 예수님이 이 땅에 오신 이유입니다. “영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니”(요 1:12). 할렐루야!

기도

나는 예수 그리스도가 내 삶의 주인이시고 평범한 인간의 생명을 초월하는 그분의 생명과 본성이 내 영에 전이되었음을 선포합니다. 나의 옛 생명은 신성한 생명으로 완전히 대체되었고, 이 생명은 아픔, 질병, 패배, 그리고 자연적인 인간의 타락보다 우월합니다. 하나님을 영원히 찬양합니다!

A NEW LIFE FOR THE NEW CREATION

“Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him”(Colossians 3:9-10).

When you were born into this world, you came with the human life from your parents. This was the life you lived until you were born again, and received another life: the life and nature of God. Does this, therefore, imply that you have two lives in you: a human life as well as the divine one? Absolutely not!

As a Christian, you only have one life, and it’s the God-life. The human life ceased to be because it was replaced by this life and nature of God. You didn’t receive an additional life; it was a supplanting of the old with the new.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The use of the word “creature” in the verse lets us know that what’s being described is unknown: It’s something new and strange that the world can’t recognize because it has never seen it before.

That’s like what the Bible says in 1 John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” Now that we’re the sons of God, the world doesn’t recognise us because we are changed.

We’re no longer subject to sickness, disease, failure, or death. We’re new creations, born with the life and nature of God that transcends the ordinary human life. This is the message of Christ. This is why He came: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I affirm that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life, and His life and nature that transcends the ordinary human life has been imparted to my spirit. My old life has been completely supplanted by the divine life, which is superior to sickness, disease, defeat and depravities of the natural man. Praise God forevermore!
