Knowing Who You Really Are
“우리는 하나님께서 [직접] 손수 만드시 작품(그분의 솜씨)이며, [하나님께서 미리 준비해 놓으신 길을 따라] 그분께서 우리를 위해 예정하신 (사전에 계획하신) 선한 일을 하고, 그 안에서 [그분께서 우리가 미리 계획하시고 준비하신 좋은 삶을 살며] 행하도록 그리스도 예수 안에서 재창조된 [거듭난] 자입니다.”(엡 2:10 AMPC)
오늘의 본문 구절은 그리스도인이 진정 어떤 자인지를 설명하는 신약의 수많은 구절 중 하나입니다. 그리스도인은 새로운 피조물이며 그리스도 예수 안에서 재창조된 하나님의 탁월한 작품입니다. “재창조”라는 단어를 주목하십시오. 이는 재단장한 것이 아니라 새로 태어났다는 의미입니다. 이것을 이해한다면 당신이 누구인지에 대해 더 정확하게 인식하게 될 것입니다.
많은 사람들이 그리스도인에 대해 알고 있는 점은 그리스도인은 속량받았다는 것입니다. 그들은 시편 기자의 말을 인용하며 노래합니다. “여호와의 속량을 받은 자들은 이같이 말할지어다 여호와께서 대적의 손에서 그들을 속량하사”(시 107:2). 그러나 그리스도인은 죄와 세상과 마귀와 죽음으로부터 구원 혹은 속량받은 자 그 이상입니다.
마귀로부터 구원 혹은 속량받은 사람은 예수님과 함께 무덤에 묻혔습니다. 우리가 주님께 속량받은 자라는 계시는 그리스도인의 특성에 대한 완전한 진리는 아닙니다. 성경이 하나님께서 예수님을 죽은 자 가운데서 일으키셨다고 말한 것을 기억하십시오. 우리는 그분과 함께 일으켜졌습니다(엡 2:6).
우리는 새로운 종류의 존재인 새로운 피조물로 일으켜졌습니다. 당신은 예전의 생명을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 당신의 인간 생명은 거듭날 때 그리스도의 생명으로 대체되었기 때문입니다. 당신은 진전된 신약의 계시를 이해해야 합니다. 속량은 하나님의 자녀, 하나님과 같은 종류의 연합체가 되는 과정의 시작점에 불과했습니다.
새로운 피조물은 결코 속박되어 있지 않았습니다. 새로운 피조물은 결코 죄를 짓지 않았습니다. 새로운 피조물은 자유로운 존재로 태어났고 죄와 무관하게 태어났습니다. 그래서 성경은 이렇게 말합니다. “죄가 너희를 주장하지 못하리니 이는 너희가 법 아래에 있지 아니하고 은혜 아래에 있음이라”(롬 6:14). 그래서 바울도 “너희도 너희 자신을 죄에 대하여는 죽은 자요 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님께 대하여는 살아 있는 자로 여길지어다”(롬 6:11)라고 말했습니다. 할렐루야!
기도
의로우신 아버지, 기독교는 부활로 말미암은 것임을 깨닫게 하시니 감사합니다. 나는 내가 그리스도의 속량 사역의 열매인 것과 하나님의 생명과 본성을 가지고 태어난 새로운 피조물이라는 사실을 기뻐합니다. 나는 그리스도와 함께 일으켜졌고, 그분과 승리와 권세와 다스림의 자리에 함께 앉아있다는 것을 인식하며 새로운 생명 안에서 행합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

KNOWING WHO YOU REALLY ARE
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live] (Ephesians 2:10 AMPC).
Our opening verse is one of the many scriptures in the New Testament that describe who the Christian really is: a new creature; God’s excellent handiwork, recreated in Christ Jesus. Notice the word “recreated,” meaning he wasn’t refurbished, but born anew. When you understand this, you’ll better appreciate who you are.
What many have known about the Christian is that he’s the redeemed. They quote the Psalmist and sing, “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalm 107:2). But the Christian is much more than someone saved or redeemed from sin, from the world, from the devil and from death.
The man that was saved or redeemed from the devil was buried in the grave with Jesus. The revelation that we are the redeemed of the Lord isn’t completely true about the personality of the Christian. Remember what the Bible says about Jesus when He was raised from the dead: we were raised together with Him (Ephesians 2:6).
We were raised up as new creatures, new species of being. You don’t have an old life, because your human life was supplanted, replaced with the life of Christ when you were born again. You need to understand the progression of the revelation of the New Testament. The redemption was only the beginning of the process towards sonship: associates of the God-kind.
The new creature was never in bondage. The new creature never sinned. He was born free, and born sinfree. That’s why the Bible says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14). This is why Paul said, “…reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ Lord”(Romans 6:11). Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Thank you, righteous Father, for the realization that Christianity came from the resurrection. I rejoice, being the fruit of the redemptive work of Christ, a new creation, born with the life and nature of God.
I walk in the newness of life, conscious that I’ve been raised together with Christ, and made to sit together with Him in the place of victory, authority and dominion forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
