We Are Lights
“너희는 다 빛의 아들이요 낮의 아들이라 우리가 밤이나 어둠에 속하지 아니하나니”(살전 5:5)
에베소서 5:8은 말합니다. “너희가 전에는 어둠이더니 이제는 주 안에서 빛이라 빛의 자녀들처럼 행하라.” 그리고 오늘의 본문 구절은 “너희는 다 빛의 아들이요…”라고 말합니다. 당신은 빛의 자녀입니다. 그리고 만일 당신이 빛의 자녀라면 당신은 빛입니다. 그것이 말씀이 정확히 말하고 있는 바입니다. 할렐루야!
주 예수님은 유대인들에게 말씀하셨습니다. “너희에게 아직 빛이 있을 동안에 빛을 믿으라 그리하면 빛의 아들이 되리라”(요 12:36). 그분은 유대인들에게 빛을 믿으라고 하셨고 그러면 그들이 빛의 자녀들이 될 것이라고 하셨습니다. 그러나 유대인들은 그렇게 하지 않았습니다. 우리는 믿었고, 그 결과 영생을 받아 빛의 자녀들이 되었습니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!
요한복음 8:12은 말합니다. “예수께서 또 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 세상의 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어둠에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라.” 놀라운 말씀입니다. 또한 예수님이 요한복음 9:5에서 하신 말씀도 생각해보십시오. “내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라.”
예수님은 당신의 삶이 어떻기를 바라십니까? 그분은 마태복음 5:16에서 우리에게 보여주셨습니다. “이같이 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 그들로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라.” 빌립보서 2:15은 말합니다. “이는 너희가 흠이 없고 순전하여 어그러지고 거스르는 세대 가운데서 하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로 세상에서 그들 가운데 빛들로 나타내며”(빌 2:15).
우리는 어두운 세상에서 빛으로 빛납니다. 우리는 아버지의 마음을 가지고 있습니다. 요한복음 3:16은 말합니다. “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니…” 따라서 우리는 아버지의 사랑으로 사람들을 사랑해야 합니다. 이것은 세상에서 빛으로 나타내는 일 중 하나입니다.
예수님께서 세상이 “너희 착한 행실을 보고”라고 말씀하셨을 때, 그분이 말씀하신 착한 행실이란 의의 일입니다. 복음을 전하고 사람들을 어둠에서 빛으로 즉 사탄의 권세로부터 하나님께로 인도하는 일에 최선을 다하십시오. 그것이 모든 도전적인 상황에 대한 참된 해결책입니다. 복음은 믿는 모든 자에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력입니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!
고백
나는 어두운 세상의 빛이고 내 빛은 어디에서나 빛납니다! 나는 복음이 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력임을 알고 전 세계 복음전파와 영혼구원을 위해 중보하는 일에 전적으로 헌신합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

WE ARE LIGHTS
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5).
In Ephesians 5:8, the Bible says, “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” And our theme verse says, “Ye are all the children of light….” You’re a child of light, and if you’re a child of light, you’re light. That’s exactly what the Scripture says. Hallelujah!
The Lord Jesus, talking to the Jews, said, “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light…” (John 12:36). He told them to believe in the light, that they may be the children of light. But they didn’t. We believed, and we received eternal life and became children of light. Glory to God!
John 8:12 says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” This is amazing. Also, think about the words of Jesus in John 9:5; He declared, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
What does He want your life to be like? He shows us in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Philippians 2:15 says, “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.”
We shine as lights in a dark world. We have the heart of the Father. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son….”
Therefore, we must love the people with the Father’s love. It’s part of shining as lights in the world.
When Jesus said to let the world “see your good works,” He was talking about works of righteousness.
Put your best into preaching the Gospel, turning men from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God. That’s the true solution to all human challenges: the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. Glory to God!
CONFESSION
I’m a light in a dark world, and my light shines everywhere! I’m wholly committed to interceding for the souls of men around the world and the spread of the Gospel, knowing that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
