의 안에서 온전해졌습니다
Perfected In Righteousness
“그가 어떤 사람은 사도로, 어떤 사람은 선지자로, 어떤 사람은 복음 전하는 자로, 어떤 사람은 목사와 교사로 삼으셨으니 이는 성도를 온전하게 하며 봉사의 일을 하게 하며…”(엡 4:11-12)
우리의 의는 하나님에게서 왔기에 완벽합니다. 우리는 스스로 자격을 얻을 필요가 없었습니다. 예수 그리스도께서 아버지 앞에서 우리에게 자격을 주셔서 신성한 본성과 그분의 의에 참여한 자가 되게 하셨습니다. 고린도후서 5:21은 말씀합니다. “하나님이 죄를 알지도 못하신 이를 우리를 대신하여 죄로 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이라” 얼마나 격려가 되는 말씀입니까!
슬프게도, 어떤 그리스도인들은 이것을 이해하지 못합니다. 그래서 그들은 자신을 불의하고 불완전하다고 봅니다. 그러나 거듭났다면, 당신은 거룩한 사람(saint)이자 온전합니다. 당신을 거듭나게 하신 그분이 온전하시기 때문입니다. 히브리서 10:14은 말씀합니다. “그가 거룩하게 된 자들을 한 번의 제사로 영원히 온전하게 하셨느니라” 또 골로새서 2:10(한글킹제임스)은 말씀합니다. “너희도 모든 정사와 권세의 머리이신 그의 안에서 온전하게 되느니라.” “온전한(complete)”이란 말은 완벽하다(perfect)는 뜻입니다. 그분 안에서 당신은 완벽합니다. 그리스도는 당신의 완벽함입니다.
당신은 “오늘의 본문 구절이 성도를 온전하게 하는 것에 대해 말하는 것은 성도들이 온전하지 않다는 것을 암시하는 것이 아닌가요?”라고 질문할 수도 있습니다. 그렇지 않습니다. 그 구절은 성도를 더 좋고 더 온전하게 하는 것을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 성도들이 성숙해지는 것을 가리킵니다. 그것은 사역의 일을 하도록 성도들을 준비시키고 훈련하는 것을 의미합니다.
생각해 보십시오. 아이가 태어날 때, 그 아이는 부모만큼이나 완벽한 인간으로 태어납니다. 그런 후 아이는 적절한 영양분을 섭취하며 자라기 시작합니다. 아이는 훈련을 받아야 하고 지식과 바른 정보를 갖춰야 합니다. 아이는 완전한 인간이지만, 자라기 전까지는 인간이 하는 일을 할 수 없습니다. 아직 활동하는 데 필요한 정보와 지능과 힘을 갖추지 못했기 때문입니다. 그것이 바로 사도 바울이 “성도를 온전하게 하는 것”을 말했을 때 의미한 바입니다.
하나님의 말씀을 당신의 영에 받아들임으로써 당신은 사역의 일을 수행할 준비가 됩니다. 당신은 의의 생명 안에서 훈련받고 있습니다. 하나님의 의가 당신의 영에 있지만, 말씀을 통하여 당신은 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 의에 대한 교리와 그것을 이해하고 적용하는 데 능숙해집니다.
고백
나는 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 의이며, 그분과의 연합 가운데 생명 안에서 통치합니다. 그분의 의를 표현하고 의의 열매를 맺는 것이 얼마나 큰 축복인지요! 그분의 이름에 영광 돌립니다! 하나님을 송축합니다!

PERFECTED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry… (Ephesians 4:11-12).
Our righteousness is of God, therefore it’s perfect. We didn’t have to qualify by ourselves; Jesus Christ qualified us before the Father to become partakers of the divine nature; to become partakers of His righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” How inspiring this is!
Some Christians haven’t understood this; so, they see themselves as unrighteous and imperfect. But if you’re born again, you’re a saint, and that’s your nature, because the One who gave birth to you is perfect. Hebrews 10:14 says, “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” Colossians 2:10 says, “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” The word “complete” means perfected; you’re perfected in Him; Christ is your perfection.
You might want to ask, “Doesn’t our opening scripture suggest that the saints are not perfect, because it talks about “the perfecting of the saints?” No, that verse doesn’t mean making the saints better and more perfect; its translated from the Greek word ‘katartismos’ which means equipping or training the saints for the work of the ministry.
Think about this: When a child is born, that child is born as perfectly human as the parents are. The child then starts growing by feeding on the right nourishment. The child needs to be trained, and equipped with knowledge and the right information, to eventually function as adult humans do. That’s what Apostle Paul meant by “perfecting of the saints.”
As you receive the Word of God into your spirit, you’re being equipped to function and carry out the work of the ministry; you’re being trained in the life of righteousness. The righteousness of God is in your spirit, but through the Word, you become more skilled in the doctrine, understanding, and application of your righteousness in Christ.
CONFESSION
I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and in union with Him, I’m reigning in life. What blessedness, to be the expression of His righteousness and bear fruits of righteousness, to the glory of His Name! Blessed be God!
