Redemption And Remission
“우리는 그리스도 안에서 그의 은혜의 풍성함을 따라 그의 피로 말미암아 속량 곧 죄 사함을 받았느니라”(엡 1:7)
오늘의 본문구절에 등장하는 “속량”에 해당되는 헬라어는 “아폴뤼트로시스(apolutrosis)”인데, 그 의미는 ‘제거(riddance)’입니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 우리에게는 제거가 있습니다. 그리스도께서는 당신에게서 어려움 곧 잘못된 것은 무엇이나 당신의 삶에서 제거하십니다. 따라서 당신은 “잘못된 것은 무엇이나 그리스도 안에서 내게서 제거된다!”고 말할 수 있습니다. 그것이 바로 속량입니다. 당신이 엄청난 곤경에 처해있다고 생각하든 상관없이 그리스도께서 당신을 벗어나게 하신다고 신뢰할 수 있습니다.
그리스도 예수 안에서 우리의 죄 또한 제거됩니다. 킹제임스 성경에서 죄의 “용서”로 번역된 헬라어 원어는 “아페시스(aphesis)”인데, 그 의미는 죄를 제거함, 죄의 전적인 제거 또는 말소입니다. 하나님은 우리를 용서하신 것 훨씬 이상을 행하셨습니다. 그분은 우리의 죄를 말소하셨습니다. 그러므로 당신의 죄에 대한 흔적이나 기록이 전혀 없습니다. 이는 당신이 죄를 지은 적이 없는 것과 같습니다.
그렇기 때문에 그리스도인이 계속 죄의식을 갖는 것은 잘못된 일입니다. 어떤 이들은 항상 죄의식의 짐에 짓눌려서 영원히 하나님께 죄를 용서해달라고 기도하며 구하고 있습니다. 진실은 성경이 우리가 하나님께 죄를 용서해주길 구해야 한다고 말씀하지 않는다는 사실입니다. 하나님은 당신의 “죄를 용서하는 것”을 준비하지 않으셨습니다. 이것이 어떤 이들의 신학을 뒤엎을 수도 있겠지만 그것은 현재시제의 진리입니다.
용서한다는 말은 사면한다는 뜻으로, 그 경우에 당신이 비록 처벌을 받지 않더라도 잘못에 대한 기록이 남습니다. 그러나 이것은 하나님과 우리에게는 해당되지 않습니다. 헬라어의 실제적인 의미는 “완전히 제거하다, 치우다, 말소하다, 분리하다”입니다. “그러면 ‘만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 그는 미쁘시고 의로우사 우리 죄를 사하시며 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요’라는 요한일서 1:9 말씀은 어떻게 된 노릇입니까?”하고 묻겠지요.
그 구절의 의미는 우리가 우리의 죄를 인정(고백)하면 신실하시고 의로우신 하나님이 우리의 죄를 제거하시고 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗케 하신다는 단순한 뜻입니다. 자동적으로 이루어지는 정화가 있습니다. 그것이 바로 요한일서 1:7이 말하는 의미입니다. “그가 빛 가운데 계신 것 같이 우리도 빛 가운데 행하면 우리가 서로 사귐이 있고 그 아들 예수의 피가 우리를 모든 죄에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요”
하나님은 당신이 죄책감이나 정죄에서 벗어나 자유롭게 걷기를 바라십니다! 그분은 당신이 죄책감이나 죄의식에 매몰되지 않고 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 제거함과 의와 의롭게 됨과 거룩함과 거룩하게 됨의 빛 가운데 걷기를 원하십니다.

사랑하는 아버지, 아버지의 말씀에 있는 이 영광스러운 진리로 인해 감사드립니다! 그리스도는 저의 어려움은 물론이고 복음이 예비한 것과 일치하지 않은 모든 것을 저에게서 제거하십니다. 저는 아버지 앞에 바로 서 있는 것과 그리스도 안에 있는 승리의 삶을 의식하며 승리자로 걷습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

REDEMPTION AND REMISSION
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).
“Redemption” in the verse above, is the Greek word, “apolutrosis” and it means riddance. In Christ, we have our riddance. He rids or plucks you out of trouble, and rids your life of anything that’s wrong. So, you can say, “I have my riddance in Christ, no matter what!” That’s redemption. It doesn’t matter what mess you may think you’re in, you can trust Him to get you out. In Christ Jesus, we also have remission of sins. The King James translation uses the word “Forgiveness” of sins, but the Greek word is “aphesis” and it means remission; the total removal or blotting away of sins. God did much more than forgive us; He blotted out our sins. There’s no trace or record of your sins; it’s as though you never sinned. That’s why it’s wrong for a Christian to keep a consciousness of sin. Some are forever praying and asking God for forgiveness, because they’re always overwhelmed by the burden of sin-consciousness. The truth is that the Bible never tells us to ask God for forgiveness. God never made provision for your “forgiveness.” This might upend some people’s theology, but it’s a present truth. To forgive means to pardon, in which case the record of wrong remains, though you’ll not be punished. But that’s not the case with God and us. The actual Greek rendering is “to take away completely, to put away, blot out, separate from.” You might want to ask, “How about 1 John 1:9 that says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness?” What that simply means is that if we acknowledge (confess) our sins, God is faithful and just to put them away, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There’s an automatic cleansing going on. That’s what it says in the seventh verse: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). God wants you to walk free of guilt or condemnation! He wants you to walk in the light of your riddance, your righteousness, your justification, your holiness, and your sanctification in Christ Jesus, not snowed-under by guilt or sin-consciousness.

Thank you dear Father for this glorious truth in your Word! Christ is my riddance; He rids me of trouble, and of anything that’s inconsistent with the provisions of the Gospel. I walk victorious, conscious of my right-standing with you, and my triumphant life in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
