Pray For Your Pastors
“형제들아 우리를 위하여 기도하라”(살전 5:25)
사도행전은 헤롯왕이 어떻게 야고보 사도를 칼로 죽였는지 알려줍니다(행 12:1-2). 헤롯왕은 이 일이 유대인들을 기쁘게 했다는 것을 알고 베드로도 죽이려고 모의하여 체포했습니다.
야고보가 체포되어 죽임을 당했을 때, 교회는 중보기도의 중요성을 깨닫지 못한 상태였습니다. 그러나 베드로가 체포되자마자 그들은 중대한 일이 일어났음을 깨달았습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “… 교회는 그를 위하여 간절히 하나님께 기도하더라”(행 12:5) 교회는 쉬지 않고 기도했습니다. 그들은 변화를 원했고, 그 변화가 일어났습니다.
저는 종종 얼마나 많은 사람들이 그들의 사역자들과 리더들을 위해 기도하는지 궁금합니다. 그들을 위해 기도하는 일은 매우 중요합니다. 그들은 당신에게 필요한 존재이므로 당신은 그들을 위해 기도해야 합니다. 주님은 그들을 그 위치에 두셔서 당신이 성령의 일들을 하도록 돕고 훈련하게 하셨습니다.
사도 바울은 히브리서 13:17-18에 이렇게 기록했습니다. “… 우리를 위하여 기도하라 우리가 모든 일에 선하게 행하려 하므로 우리에게 선한 양심이 있는 줄을 확신하노니” 바울은 왜 “우리를 위하여 기도하라”고 말했습니까? 성경을 더 공부해보면 두 가지 이유가 있다는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
첫 번째 이유는 바울에게 말씀을 주셔서 그가 복음의 비밀을 담대히 전하게 하기 위해서였습니다(엡 6:19). 두 번째 이유는 교회가 바울을 필요로 했기 때문입니다. 그들이 바울을 위해 기도하고 중보하는 가운데, 바울은 그들의 유익을 위해 남아있을 수 있었습니다. “내가 그 둘 사이에 끼었으니 차라리 세상을 떠나서 그리스도와 함께 있는 것이 훨씬 더 좋은 일이라 그렇게 하고 싶으나 내가 육신으로 있는 것이 너희를 위하여 더 유익하니라”(빌 1:23-24)
만일 바울이 하나님께서 그에게 주신 모든 놀라운 계시를 가지고 일찍 세상을 떠났다고 상상해 보십시오. 세상과 교회는 너무나 많은 것을 잃었을 것입니다. 그러나 그들은 기도했고, 바울은 영광스럽게 그의 경주를 마쳤습니다.
따라서 바울은 사도행전 20:26-27에서 다음과 같이 말할 수 있었습니다. “그러므로 오늘 여러분에게 증언하거니와 모든 사람의 피에 대하여 내가 깨끗하니 이는 내가 꺼리지 않고 하나님의 뜻을 다 여러분에게 전하였음이라” 하나님께 영광 드립니다! 당신의 사역자들과 리더들을 위해 기도하십시오. 그들을 위해 기도하는 일은 중요합니다. 그들은 하나님께서 당신에게 주신 선물이기 때문입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 오늘날 전세계 복음의 사역자들과 목사들이 힘을 잃지 않도록 기도합니다. 그들을 통해 성령님의 속도로 복음이 전세계에 빠르게 전파되기를 기도합니다. 기적과 표적과 기사로 복음을 전하는 이들이 더 많은 영혼들에게 복음을 전하는 기회와 말씀을 주시기를 기도합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

PRAY FOR YOUR PASTORS
“Brethren, pray for us” (1 Thessalonians 5:25).
In the book of Acts, the Bible tells us how King Herod had the Apostle James put to death by the sword (Acts 12:1-2). He found that this pleased the Jews and he apprehended Peter also with a plan to have him killed.
When James was arrested and killed, the church hadn’t understood the importance of intercession. Upon Peter’s arrest, however, they immediately realized that they had serious business to attend to. The Bible says “…but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him” (Acts 12:5). The church prayed without ceasing. They needed to have a change and they got it.
Sometimes, I wonder how many people pray for their pastors and leaders. It’s really important to do this. You have to pray for them because you need them. The Lord put them there to help you and train you in the things of the Spirit.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Hebrews 13:17-18, “…Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.” Why did he say, “Pray for us?” As you study more of the Scriptures, you’ll find there were 2 reasons.
The first reason was so that utterance would be given unto him to boldly make known the mystery of the Gospel (Ephesians 6:19). The second reason was because the Church needed him. In praying and interceding for him, he would be retained for their benefit because he said, “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you” Philippians (1:23-24).
Imagine if Paul had passed on earlier than he did, with all the wonderful revelations God gave him. The world and the Church would have lost so much. They however prayed, and Paul gloriously finished his course.
That’s why he could say in Acts 20:26-27, “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men, for I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.” Glory to God! Pray for your pastors and leaders; it’s very important, because they’re gifts of God to you.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I pray for pastors and ministers of the Gospel all around the world today, that their strength fail not; I pray that through them, the Gospel is spreading rapidly around the world with the speed of the Spirit. I pray that you grant them utterance and opportunities to impact many more souls as they preach the Gospel with miracles, signs, and wonders, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
