곤경에 처한 하나님의 백성을 위해 기도하십시오
Pray For God’s People In Distress
“끝으로 형제들아 너희는 우리를 위하여 기도하기를 주의 말씀이 너희 가운데서와 같이 퍼져 나가 영광스럽게 되고”(살후 3:1)
사도행전 12:1-2은 말합니다. “그 때에 헤롯 왕이 손을 들어 교회 중에서 몇 사람을 해하려 하여 요한의 형제 야고보를 칼로 죽이니”(행 12:1-2). 야고보가 잡혔다는 소식이 교회에 전해졌을 때 사람들은 “야고보가 잡혔다고? 그에게는 아무 일도 일어나지 않을 거야. 그는 믿음의 사람이거든.”이라고 생각했을 것입니다. 그러나 야고보가 죽게 되자 그들은 이 일에 관심을 가졌습니다.
하나님은 어디에 계셨습니까? 어떻게 하나님이 그런 일을 허락하실 수 있습니까? 어떤 사람들은 이러한 의구심을 가지며 하나님을 탓하려고 합니다. 그러나 그 일이 일어나도록 허락한 것은 하나님이 아닙니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다. “그 날에는 너희가 아무 것도 나에게 묻지 아니하리라 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 무엇이든지 아버지께 구하는 것을 내 이름으로 주시리라”(요 16:23).
그리고 그분은 마태복음 28:18에서 “하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 내게 주셨으니”라고 선포하시고, 그 권세에 근거하여 “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아…”(마 28:19)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 우리에게 그분의 권세를 주셨습니다. 그분은 우리에게 그분의 이름을 주셨습니다. 따라서 야고보가 죽도록 내버려둔 것은 예수님이 아니었습니다. 기도로 자신의 권세를 사용하지 않은 그리스도인들에게 책임이 있습니다.
그 이후 베드로가 잡혔을 때, 성경은 그들이 (교회가) 쉬지 않고 기도했다고 말합니다. 하나님께서 개입하셔서 베드로는 풀려났습니다(행 12:5). 당신이 기도하지 않으므로 하나님께서 개입하실 수 없었던 것들을, 당신이 기도했기 때문에 하나님께서 “합법적으로” 개입하실 수 있게 된 것입니다.
이것이 우리가 복음 사역자들을 위해 기도하고 이 마지막 때에 화해의 사역을 발전시켜야 하는 이유입니다. 사도 바울은 골로새에 있는 그리스도인들에게 이렇게 썼습니다. “또한 우리를 위하여 기도하되 하나님이 전도할 문을 우리에게 열어 주사 그리스도의 비밀을 말하게 하시기를 구하라 내가 이 일 때문에 매임을 당하였노라”(골 4:3). 하나님께서 이미 그들에게 가서 복음을 전하라고 하셨는데 왜 하나님께 전도할 문을 열어 달라고 기도합니까? 이는 세상에 적들이 있다는 것을 알려줍니다. 그러므로 항상 전 세계의 그리스도의 교회들을 위해 기도하십시오.
세상에서 가장 핍박 받는 집단이 그리스도인이라는 여러 보고가 있습니다. 많은 사람들이 예수 그리스도에 대한 믿음으로 인해 가장 비인간적인 대우를 받는 곤경에 처해있습니다. 그들은 당신의 기도를 통해 강해질 것입니다. 주님께서 그들의 상황에 개입하실 것이고 변화가 일어날 것입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 전 세계의 복음 사역자들과 하나님의 백성들이 힘을 얻도록 기도합니다. 그리스도인에 대한 박해를 조장하고 복음 전파를 방해하는 사람들과 기관들에 대항하여 기도함으로, 우리는 그러한 영향력을 차단하고 그들의 노력이 쓸모가 없게 만듭니다. 그런 상황에서도 복음은 성령의 속도에 따라 빠르게 전파되고 세력을 얻고 있습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

PRAY FOR GOD’S PEOPLE IN DISTRESS
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you (2 Thessalonians 3:1).
In Acts 12:1-2, the Bible says, “…Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.” When the Church heard that James had been arrested, they must have thought, “James arrested? Nothing will happen to him; he’s a man of faith.” But once James was killed, it got their attention.
“Where was God? How did God allow it to happen?” some may have wondered, trying to put the blame on God. But it’s not God that allows such things to happen. Jesus said, “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you”(John 16:23).
Then in Matthew 28:18, He declared, “…All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me”; and on the basis of that authority, He said, “…go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). Jesus gave us His authority; He gave us His Name. So, it wasn’t Jesus that let them kill James; it was the Christians that didn’t do their job by exercising their authority in prayer.
When Peter was arrested next, the Bible says they (the church) prayed without ceasing; God intervened and Peter was released (Acts 12:5-7). So, every time you pray, you’re making it “legally” possible for God to intervene in some ways that He wouldn’t have, had you not prayed.
This is why we must pray for ministers of the Gospel, and advancement of the ministry of reconciliation in these last days. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Colossae, “Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds”(Colossians 4:3). Since God already told them to go and preach the Gospel, why did they need to pray to God to open for them a door of utterance? It tells you that there’re adversaries in the world. So always pray for the churches of Christ around the world.
Several reports confirm that Christians are the most persecuted group in the world. Many are in dire distress, made to face the most inhuman treatments because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Through your prayers for them, they’ll be strengthened; the Lord will intervene in their situations. Praise God!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I pray for ministers of the Gospel and God’s people around the world, that their strength fail not. I pray against men or institutions who foster persecution of Christians and hinder the spread of the Gospel; we cut off the influence of such forces and their efforts are made futile. In spite of them, the Gospel is spreading rapidly, with the speed of the Spirit, and prevailing, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
