Righteousness: A Gift To The Ungodly
“한 사람의 범죄로 말미암아 사망이 그 한 사람을 통하여 왕 노릇 하였은즉 더욱 은혜와 의의 선물을 넘치게 받는 자들은 한 분 예수 그리스도를 통하여 생명 안에서 왕 노릇 하리로다”(롬 5:17)
의는 하나님의 중요한 선물 중 하나입니다. 그러나 의가 그리스도인들이 아닌 세상을 위한 선물이라는 것을 아십니까? 의는 경건하지 않은 사람들을 위한 선물입니다. 로마서 4:5은 하나님은 경건하지 않은 사람들을 의롭게 하시는 분이라는 것을 말합니다. “일을 아니할지라도 경건하지 아니한 자를 의롭다 하시는 이를 믿는 자에게는 그의 믿음을 의로 여기시나니”
이 구절에서 하나님이 그리스도인들을 의롭게 하신다고 말하지 않음에 주목하십시오. 그리스도인은 의의 선물을 “받지” 않았습니다. 그리스도인은 의롭게 태어났습니다. 당신은 거듭났을 때 하나님의 의로 태어났습니다.
로마서에 나타난 의에 대한 바울의 진술, 특히 로마서 5:17의 내용은 아브라함으로부터 예수 그리스도를 믿는 모든 사람에게 전해진 의의 합법성에 대한 포괄적인 주장입니다. 우리는 의가 “우리”에게 선물로 주어졌지만 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 선물의 전부는 아니라고 믿습니다.

성경은 믿는 자마다 영생을 갖는다고 말합니다. 믿는다면 즉시 그 안에서 영생이 시작됩니다. 그러므로 영생은 더 이상 그에게 “주어지는 것”이 아닙니다. 그는 영생으로 태어났고, 영생 안에 있습니다. 그는 그리스도를 영접할 때 영생으로 태어났습니다. 의도 마찬가지입니다.
마치 당신이 어머니에게서 태어났을 때와 같습니다. 인간이 되기 위해 먼저 생명의 선물을 받을 필요는 없었습니다. 당신은 인간의 생명으로 존재하게 되었습니다! 그렇지 않으면 당신은 살아 있다는 말을 듣지 못했을 것입니다.
그러므로 본질적으로, 법적으로 온 세상은 의의 선물을 받은 것입니다. 이 선물을 받으면 어떠한 죄의식, 두려움, 열등감, 정죄감 없이 하나님 앞에 설 수 있습니다. 이 선물을 받는 사람은 누구나 구원을 받습니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 그리스도 안에 있는 영광과 통치권의 삶에 감사드립니다. 내 안에 역사하는 성령의 사역에 감사드립니다. 이제 나는 의롭게 살고, 의로운 일을 행하고, 의의 일들과 열매를 맺을 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있습니다. 나는 그리스도를 통해 날마다 다스리며 살아갑니다. 아멘.

RIGHTEOUSNESS: A GIFT TO THE UNGODLY
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” (Romans 5:17).
Righteousness is one of the cardinal gifts of God; but did you know that it was a gift to the world and not to Christians? It’s a gift to the ungodly. The Bible refers to God in Romans 4:5 as One who justifies the ungodly: “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
Notice it didn’t say He justifies the Christians. The Christian didn’t “receive” the gift of righteousness; the Christian was born righteous. You were born as the righteousness of God when you were born again.
Paul’s submission about righteousness in the Book of Romans, particularly as you’d find in chapter 5 verse 17 is a generic argument on the legality of righteousness as it was accounted to Abraham, and therefore to all who believe in Jesus Christ. We may believe it’s given to “us” as a gift, but that’s not all that God gave us as a gift.
For instance, Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Eternal life is given to sinners, not Christians; that’s what a sinner receives to become a Christian. A Christian is one who has eternal life, not one who’s “receiving” the gift of eternal life.
The Bible says anyone who believes, has eternal life. Once a man believes, right away, eternal life starts up in his spirit. So, eternal life is no longer being “gifted” to him; he was born with it and into it. He came alive with it when he received Christ. It’s the same with righteousness.
It’s like when you were born of your mother; you didn’t have to first receive the gift of life to become human; you came into existence with life—the human life! Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been said to be alive.
So, in essence, legally, the whole world has been given the gift of righteousness; it’s this gift that, when received, enables one to stand in the presence of God without guilt, fear, inferiority, or condemnation. Anyone who receives this gift is saved. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the life of glory and dominion I have in Christ. Thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in me. I have the ability to think right, do right, and produce fruits and works of righteousness, and I reign in life through Christ daily. Amen.
