Something Different About You
“그러나 너희는 선택받은 민족이요 왕 같은 제사장이며, 구별되어 헌신된 나라요, [하나님께서] 친히 사신 특별한 백성이니, 이는 너희를 어두움에서 불러내어 그의 놀라운 빛으로 들어가게 하신 분의 경이로운 행위를 내세우고 그분의 덕과 완벽함을 내보이게 하려 하심이라”(벧전 2:9, 확대번역본)
오늘의 본문 구절에서 “특별한 백성”이라는 부분을 보셨습니까? 당신도 특별한 백성에 포함됩니다. 당신은 특별한 존재입니다. 당신에게는 뭔가 다른 점이 있습니다. 당신은 독특합니다. 당신과 같은 사람은 없습니다. 당신 스스로를 폄하하거나 다른 사람이 당신을 폄하하도록 내버려두지 마십시오.
당신은 신성한 본성에 참여하는 자이며 하나님을 운반하는 그릇입니다. 당신은 신성을 나타냅니다. 당신은 하늘에 속한 존재입니다. 당신은 자신의 세상에서 그리스도의 확장이자 표현입니다. 이는 한 목사님을 찾아 온 가족에 대한 사랑스러운 간증을 떠올리게 합니다.
그 가족은 세 살이 된 소녀를 데리고 왔습니다. 목사님과 인사를 나누고 하나님의 말씀에 관한 좋은 대화를 한 후 그들은 사무실을 떠나려고 했습니다. 그때 그 소녀가 벽에 걸린 사진을 발견하고 멈춰 섰습니다. 소녀는 부모님과 목사님께 “이분은 TV에 나오는 예수 그리스도셔요.”라고 목사님 사무실 벽에 걸려 있던 크리스 목사님의 사진을 가리키며 말했습니다.
이것이 바로 예수님이 우리에 대해 말씀하신 바입니다. 우리는 그분의 신성한 임재를 운반하는 사람들입니다. 예수님은 요한복음 14:9에서 “나를 본 자는 아버지를 보았다”고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 보이지 않는 하나님의 형상이자 상징이십니다(고후 4:4, 골 1:15).
예수님은 하나님의 시각적 표현이시며 모습이십니다. 히브리서 1:3은 그분이 하나님의 영광의 광채이시며 하나님의 본체의 “형상”이라고 말합니다. “본체”를 뜻하는 헬라어 단어는 “케렉터(charakter)”로 복사본 혹은 인쇄본을 뜻합니다. 예수님은 하나님의 복사본 혹은 인쇄본이십니다. 그리고 성경은 “주께서 그러하심과 같이 우리도 이 세상에서 그러하니라”(요일 4:17)고 말합니다!
왜 자신을 평범한 사람으로 여기면 안 되는지 아시겠습니까? 당신 안에 계신 그리스도는 당신을 다른 존재로 만드십니다. 당신은 그분의 영광의 광채이고 그분의 본체의 형상입니다. 할렐루야!
기도
나는 하나님의 독특하고 귀중한 보물이자 그분의 신성한 임재를 지닌 자입니다. 나는 그분의 영광의 광채, 본체의 형상입니다. 나는 내 영 안에 영광, 탁월함, 능력의 초자연적인 생명으로 새롭게 태어났습니다! 오늘 나는 나의 말과 행동으로 나를 영광과 존귀와 탁월함으로 부르신 하늘에 계신 아버지의 경이로운 행위를 내세우고 그분의 덕과 완벽함을 내보입니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT YOU
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
Did you notice the phrase, “a peculiar people” in our opening verse above? That includes you; you’re a peculiar being. There’s something different about you; you’re unique; you’re not like everybody else. Never talk down on yourself or allow anyone talk you down.
You’re a partaker of the divine nature, a God-carrying vessel. You represent divinity. You’re a heavenly being. You’re the extension and expression of Christ in your world. It brings to mind a lovely testimony by one of our pastors of a certain family that came to see him in his office.
The family had a three-year-old girl with them. After they had exchanged pleasantries with the pastor and shared nice thoughts from God’s Word, they turned to leave. As they walked away, the little girl noticed a picture on the wall, stopped, turned to her parents and the pastor and said, “This is Jesus Christ on TV,” pointing to my picture that the pastor had on the wall in his office.
But that’s exactly what Jesus said about us; we’re bearers of His divine presence. Jesus minced no words in John 14:9 when He said, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” Jesus is the image or icon of the invisible God (2 Corinthians 4:4, Colossians 1:15).
That means He’s the visual representation of God, the profile of God. Hebrews 1:3 says He’s the brightness of God’s glory, and the “express image” of His person. The Greek term for the expression, “express image” is “charakter” and it means facsimile or print copy. Jesus is the facsimile or print copy of God. Then, the Bible says, “As He is, so are we in this world!”
Can you see why you must never see yourself as an ordinary person? Christ in you makes you different. You’re the effulgence of His glory, the express image of His person. Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
I am a unique and precious treasure to God, a bearer of His divine presence, the effulgence of His glory, the express image of His person, born anew with the supernatural life of glory, excellence, and power in my spirit! Today, through my words and actions, I manifest the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of my heavenly Father, who has called me to glory, honour, and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
