말씀은 당신이 “행동하게” 합니다

The Word Propels You To “Do”

“너희 안에서 행하시는 이는 하나님이시니 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희에게 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니”(빌 2:13)

하나님의 말씀은 행동하게 하는 힘입니다. 말씀은 추진력을 가지고 있습니다. 말씀은 당신에게 영적인 동기를 부여하고, 당신이 행동할 수 있도록 만듭니다. 말씀은 당신 안에서 효과적으로 역사하여 당신의 꿈을 실현할 수 있는 능력과 열망을 창조하고 활력을 불어넣습니다.

성공은 “보는 것” 만이 아니라 행동하는 것에서 옵니다. 많은 사람들이 사업, 정치, 사역 등 여러 영역에서 위대한 아이디어를 가지고 있지만 행동하지 않았기 때문에 빛을 보지 못합니다. 그들이 말씀을 묵상했다면 결과는 달랐을 것입니다.

여호수아 1:8(확대번역본)은 말합니다. “너는 이 율법 책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며, 밤낮으로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 행하는 것을 보리라. 그리하면 네가 네 길을 형통하게 하며 또한 크게 성공하리라.” 말씀이 “…밤낮으로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜라…”고 말하지 않았음을 주목하십시오. 또한 “묵상하고 행하라”고 말하지 않았습니다. 오히려 말씀을 진정으로 묵상한다면 당신은 행하게 된다고 말합니다. “행동”은 말씀을 묵상한 결과입니다.

골로새서 3:16은 하나님의 말씀이 당신 안에 풍성히 거하게 하라고 말합니다. 말씀을 당신의 영에 풍성히 거하게 하십시오. 말씀이 당신 안에서 하는 일이 있기 때문입니다. 예를 들어, 당신이 교회 안에 있고, 말씀이 선포되고 있다면, 말씀의 사역이 진행되고 있는 것입니다. 그때, 당신의 영이 강화되고 하나님의 영으로부터 오는 동기, 아이디어, 비전에 휘저어집니다. 할렐루야!

THE WORD PROPELS YOU TO “DO”

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”(Philippians 2:13).

The Word of God is a propelling force; it’s a propelling power. It gives you the spiritual motivation, and enables you to do. The Word effectually works in you, energizing and creating in you the power and desire to actualize your dream.

Success comes from “doing,” that is, acting, not from seeing only. There’re many with great ideas—in business, politics, ministry, etc.—that never came to light because they never took action. If only they’d meditate on the Word.

Joshua 1:8 AMPC says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Notice it didn’t say: “…but thou shall meditate therein day and night and also observe to do…”; neither did it say, “Meditate on it and do it”; no! Rather, it says if you’d truly meditate on the Word, you cannot but do it. The “doing” is a result or implication of you meditating on the Word.

Colossians 3:16 says to let the Word of God dwell in you richly; have it in your spirit in abundance because of what it does in you. When you’re in church for example, and the Word is being taught, there’s a ministry of the Word going on at such times; your spirit is being built strengthened, and stirred to act on the promptings, ideas and visions that come to you from God’s Spirit. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for granting me insight into spiritual mysteries and secrets and implanting in me the passion to do your will. I’m propelled by your Word, stirred and motivated to act and walk in the path of success and greatness, in fulfilling my destiny in Christ. Hallelujah!

God’s Plan For The Giver

“각각 그 마음에 정한 대로 할 것[줄 것]이요 인색함으로나 억지로 하지 말지니 하나님은 즐거이(기쁘게, 즉각적으로) 내는 자[주는 것에 자신의 마음을 싣는 자]를 사랑하시느니라 (기쁨으로 여기시느니라, 모든 것보다 귀히 여기시느니라, 무시하거나 없이 행할 수 없으시니라) 하나님께서는 너희에게 모든 은혜(모든 호의와 지상의 축복)을 넘치게 하실 수 있나니, 모든 것을 언제나 너희가 필요한 대로 가질 수 있게 하심으로 [어떤 도움이나 지원도 필요하지 않도록 충분히 소유하고 모든 선한 일과 자선 기부를 위해 풍성히 공급받으므로] 모든 선한 일에 넘치게 하시려는 것이라.”(고후 9:7-8, 확대번역본)

시편 24:1은 말합니다. “땅과 거기에 충만한 것과 세계와 그 가운데에 사는 자들은 다 여호와의 것이로다.” 주님은 학개 2:8에서 이 땅의 자원에 대한 그분의 주권을 선포하셨습니다. “은도 내 것이요 금도 내 것이니라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라.”

그리고 시편 50:10-11에서는 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “이는 삼림의 짐승들과 뭇 산의 가축이 다 내 것이며 산의 모든 새들도 내가 아는 것이며 들의 짐승도 내 것임이로다.” 할렐루야! 무궁무진하고 헤아릴 수 없는 부를 포함해 이 땅과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 소유하고 계신 하나님께서 당신에게 모든 은혜를 주실 수 있으며, 그분이 소유하신 모든 것을 당신이 누리도록 하실 수 있습니다.

하나님은 이 땅에 필요한 모든 은혜가 당신을 향하도록 하실 수 있으며, 이를 통해 당신이 어떤 일을 하는데 어떤 능력도 부족하지 않게 하실 수 있습니다. 누군가는 이렇게 말할 수도 있습니다. “주님, 그렇다면 어서 저에게 모든 은혜를 주십시오.”

성경은 하나님께서 그렇게 하시는 이유가 무엇인지 이미 알려주었습니다. 하나님은 나눠주는 자를 위해 은혜를 쏟아 부으십니다. 오늘의 본문 구절을 다시 읽으며 은혜와 주는 자의 연관성을 발견해보십시오. 축복의 모든 통로는 주는 자에게 집중되어 있습니다! 당신은 주는 사람의 길을 막거나, 그의 발전을 방해하거나, 그의 성장과 축복을 방해할 수 없습니다. 그를 향한 은혜가 온 방향에서 흘러오기 때문입니다.

이것이 전부가 아닙니다. 하나님은 참된 주는 자를 위해 모든 은혜를 주실 뿐만 아니라, 당신이 언제나 나눠 줄 수 있도록 충분한 것 이상으로 더 많이 공급하십니다. 도움이나 지원이 필요하지 않을 만큼 소유하고, 모든 선한 일과 기부를 위해 풍성하게 공급하십니다. 이것이 당신이 주는 자로서 받은 하나님의 말씀과 축복입니다. 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 나를 축복하고 풍성하게 만드신 그리스도의 복음에 감사드립니다. 복음전파를 위해 심을 수 있고, 죄인들을 어둠에서 하나님의 아들들의 영광스러운 자유로 구출하는 일에 참여할 수 있는 특권에 감사드립니다. 모든 은혜가 나에게 넘치게 하셔서 내가 화목케 하는 사역을 효과적으로 할 수 있게 하시니 감사합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

GOD’S PLAN FOR THE GIVER

“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].”(2 Corinthians 9:8 AMPC).

Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” In Haggai 2:8, the Lord declares His sovereignty over the earth’s resources saying, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.”

Then in Psalm 50:10-11, the Lord said, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.” Hallelujah! This same God that owns the world and everything in it, including all its inexhaustible and inestimable wealth, is able to direct all grace towards you for you to enjoy everything He owns.

God is able to direct all the grace you require for anything in this life towards you such that you’re never behind in competence or ability. Someone might say, “If that’s the case, then, go ahead and do it, Lord; direct all grace towards me.”

The scriptures already told us what prompts Him to do it: He does it for givers. Read our opening scripture again and see the connection: all channels of blessings are focused on the giver! You can’t block the giver’s way, impede his advancement, or stymie his growth and blessings, for he’s graced on every side.

That’s not all. As a true giver, not only does God direct all grace towards you, He ensures you have more than enough to give all the time. You’re always, and under all circumstances, and whatever the need, self-sufficient; possessing enough to require no aid or support, furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation. This is God’s Word and blessing for you as a giver. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the Gospel of Christ that has blessed and enriched me. I’m grateful for the privilege to give for the furtherance of the Gospel and bring sinners out of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Thank you for making all grace abound towards me, to be effective in the ministry of reconciliation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Associates Of A Greater Pantheon

“이로써 그 보배롭고 지극히 큰 약속을 우리에게 주사 이 약속으로 말미암아 너희가 정욕 때문에 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여 신성한 성품에 참여하는 자가 되게 하려 하셨느니라”(벧후 1:4)

사도 베드로가 오늘의 본문 구절을 통해 우리에게 보여주는 그림은 그리스 신화에서 비롯된 것입니다. 그리스의 판테온, 즉 주신인 제우스가 이끄는 신들의 모임을 떠올리게 합니다. 따라서 “신성한 성품에 참여하는 자”의 실제 표현은 그리스어 “테아스-파세오스(theias-phuseos)”로 “하나님과 같은 종류의 존재”를 뜻합니다.

따라서 베드로는 예수님이 이끄시는 더 위대한 판테온을 설명하고 있는 것입니다. 우리는 거듭났을 때 하나님과의 교제 혹은 하나님과 같은 종류의 존재와 하나됨 안으로 들어왔습니다. 우리는 신성과의 교제, 하나님과 같은 종류의 존재와의 연합 안으로 들어왔습니다. 어떤 성경 학자들은 이에 대해 문제를 제기했습니다. 그들의 의견이 달랐던 이유는 베드로의 생각이 틀렸기 때문이 아니라, 말씀이 말하는 바를 믿기 두려웠기 때문입니다.

어떤 이들은 베드로가 그리스의 역사와 문화, 그리스의 신들과 관련된 단어를 사용하지 말았어야 했다고 주장합니다. 하지만 베드로가 기록한 서신서에는 해당 구절 외에도 헬레니즘 문화의 영향을 많이 받은 구절들이 있습니다. 예를 들어, 베드로는 베드로후서 1:2에서 처음으로 “에피그노시스(epignosis)”라는 단어를 사용합니다. “에피그노시스”는 헬레니즘에서 비롯된 단어로 성경에서 20회 사용되었고 그 중 16회는 바울의 서신서에서, 나머지 4회는 베드로의 서신서에 등장했습니다(벧후 1:2, 벧후 1:3, 벧후 1:8, 벧후 2:20).

에피그노시스는 더 높은 차원의 지식을 뜻합니다. 오직 하나님으로부터 나올 수 있는 명확하고, 정확하고, 절대적인 지식을 의미합니다. 헬라인과 고대 그리스인들은 그들의 종교적 사상에 의해 오직 신들만 모든 것을 알 수 있다고 생각했습니다. 오직 신들만 절대적 지식을 가지고 있을 수 있었습니다. 이렇듯 헬레니즘을 기반으로 한 단어가 성경을 엮는데 사용되었다면, 베드로가 이해를 돕기 위해 헬레니즘에서 비롯된 단어나 판테온을 인용한 점을 폄하할 이유가 있습니까?

당신은 하나님의 수준으로 거듭나서 그분의 신성한 생명을 당신의 영 안으로 받으므로 하나님과 같은 종류의 연합에 속했습니다. 이제 당신은 평범한 인간의 영역에서 하나님과 같은 초자연적인 수준으로 옮겨졌습니다. 그러므로 당신은 패배할 수 없고, 난공불락이며, 언제나 승리합니다.

ASSOCIATES OF A GREATER PANTHEON

“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”(2 Peter 1:4).

The image the Apostle Peter conjures in our minds in the verse above stemmed from a Greek mythology. It had to do with the Greek pantheon, or the collective group of gods headed by Zeus, king of the gods. So, the actual expression, “partakers of the divine nature,” is the Greek “theias-phuseos,” which means “associates of the God-kind.”

Thus, peter was referring to a greater pantheon headed by Jesus. Being born again, we’ve been brought into fellowship or oneness with the God-kind. We’re in that league; meaning that we’re in a fraternity of divinity; a communion of the God-kind. Some Bible scholars have had issues with this. Their disagreement isn’t because Peter’s thoughts were wrong, but they were so afraid to believe what the Word says.

Others argue that Peter shouldn’t have used words that primarily centre around or relate to Greek history, culture or the Greek gods. But there are several other texts attributed to Peter in the epistles that were written and influenced by Hellenistic culture. For example, Peter, for the first time in 2 Peter 1:2 uses the term “epignosis.” The term epignosis is Hellenistic, and it’s used 20 times in the Bible, out of which 16 of them were all from Paul. Four of them are from Peter (2 Peter 1:2; 2 Peter 1:3; 2 Peter 1:8; 2 Peter 2:20).

Epignosis is a higher form of knowledge; it means exact, precise or absolute knowledge that can only be attributable to God. The Hellenistic or Grecians in their religiosity believed that only the gods knew everything; only the gods can have absolute knowledge. If these Hellenistic thoughts woven into scriptures are accepted, why should anyone disparage the Hellenistic inference or understanding of the Pantheon that Peter seeks to communicate?

You belong in the fraternity of the God-kind, having been born into God’s class, with His divine life in your spirit. Now, you’re indestructible, impregnable, and always victorious having been translated from the ordinary realm of mankind to the supernatural class of the God-kind.

예수님은 영원히 동일하십니다

He’s Forever The Same

“예수께서 이르시되 너희가 성경도 하나님의 능력도 알지 못하므로 오해함이 아니냐”(막 12:24)

성경은 말합니다. “예수 그리스도는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시니라.”(히 13:8) 그러므로 예수님은 성경 시대에 하신 일을 오늘날에도 여전히 하고 계십니다. 예수님은 동일하십니다. 예수 이름은 듣지 못하는 귀를 고치고, 눈먼 자의 눈을 뜨게 하고, 절름발이의 다리를 고치고, 불구가 된 팔다리를 고치고, 심지어 죽은 자를 살리는 동일한 능력과 권세를 가지고 있습니다.

“누구든지 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 받으리라.”(롬 10:13) 이 구절은 “누구에게나” 적용되며, 여전히 참되며 유효합니다. 따라서 당신의 상황에 대해 당신이 혹은 다른 사람들이 어떻게 생각하는지는 중요하지 않습니다. 당신이 주님의 이름을 부르면, 그분은 들으시고 응답하실 것입니다.

예수 이름은 구원하고, 구출하고, 보호하고, 치유하고, 보존하고, 온전하게 합니다. 의사가 당신이나 당신이 사랑하는 사람을 신부전, 심장병, 또는 신경 쇠약이라고 포기했을 지도 모릅니다. 조급하지 마십시오. 우리 주님은 은혜롭고, 친절하며, 전능하십니다! 예수 이름을 부르십시오. 그러면 변화가 있을 것입니다.

세상에는 하나님의 말씀인 성경보다 더 참된 책은 없음을 기억하십시오. 하나님의 말씀은 그분의 뜻입니다. 우리는 그분의 뜻을 통해 누구든지 그리스도를 믿는 자는 구원을 받는다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 당신이 해야 할 전부는 그저 믿는 것입니다. 당신이 신성한 건강과 승리 가운데 걸을 수 있도록 하나님의 계획, 곧 그분의 말씀을 받아들이고 말씀을 따라 행동하십시오.

마가복음 9:23은 말합니다. “…믿는 자에게는 능히 하지 못할 일이 없느니라 하시니.” 이 구절은 진부한 표현이 아닙니다. 이 구절은 예수님의 입술을 통해 나왔습니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다. “천지는 없어질지언정 내 말은 없어지지 아니하리라”(마 24:35, 막 13:31, 눅 21:33). 예수님은 동일하십니다. 예수님의 영광스러운 이름에 영원히 영광 드립니다!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 우리에게 예수 이름을 주셔서 감사합니다. 예수 이름은 능력 있고, 일관성 있고, 신뢰할 만하고, 시대를 초월하여 의지할 수 있는 이름임이 증명되었습니다. 예수 이름은 희망 없는 상황에서 변화와 기적을 일으키는 능력을 가지고 있습니다. 나는 건강, 강건함, 활력 가운데 걷습니다. 나는 내 세상에서 당신의 뜻과 의를 세웁니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

HE’S FOREVER THE SAME

“And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?”(Mark 12:24).

The Bible says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Therefore, what He did in Bible days, He’s still doing today; He’s consistent. His Name has the same power, the same authority to unstop deaf ears, open blind eyes, heal lame legs, restore maimed limbs, and even raise the dead, as it did in Bible says.

The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). This applies to “Anybody” and it’s true and still relevant. So, it doesn’t matter how bad you or others might think your case is; if you’d call upon the Name of the Lord, He’ll hear and answer you.

The Name of Jesus saves, delivers, protects, heals, preserves, and makes whole. Perhaps the doctors have given up on you or on a loved one to die, maybe because of kidney failure, a heart disease, or a nervous breakdown. Don’t fret; our Lord is gracious, kind and all-powerful! Call on His Name and there’ll be a change.

Remember that there is no document in the world that is truer than the Bible—the Word of God. God’s Word is His will. And we know through His will that anybody who calls on Him shall be saved. All you have to do is believe; receive His message—His plan for you to walk in divine health and victory—and act on it.

Mark 9:23 says, “…If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” These words aren’t mere clichés; they came right out of the lips of the Master; they’re forever true. He said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33). He’s consistent. Blessed be His glorious Name forever!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for giving us the Name of Jesus, a name which has proven its power, consistency, reliability, and dependability from age to age, and its capacity and ability to alter and effect changes in hopeless situations and produce miracles. I walk in health, strength and vitality; I establish your will and righteousness in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

부활의 의식을 가지십시오

Have A Resurrection Consciousness

“우리는 우리 자신이 사형 선고를 받은 줄 알았으니 이는 우리로 자기를 의지하지 말고 오직 죽은 자를 다시 살리시는 하나님만 의지하게 하심이라”(고후 1:9)

성경은 하나님께서 아브라함에게 노년에 낳은 외아들 이삭을 바치라고 명하신 장면을 보여줍니다. 아브라함은 주저하거나 원망하지 않았습니다. 아브라함이 이삭을 바치려 할 때, 하나님은 바로 그를 막으셨습니다. 히브리서에 따르면 아브라함이 이삭을 생명으로 일으켰습니다.

하나님이 보시기에 그것은 부활이었습니다. 아브라함이 이삭을 완전히 포기했기 때문입니다. 하나님은 “아브라함아 그만해라! 그 아이를 해치지 말아라”고 말씀하시며 아브라함을 제지하셨습니다. 아브라함은 부활에 대한 믿음이 있었습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “그가 하나님이 능히 이삭을 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살리실 줄로 생각한지라 비유컨대 [잠재적으로 제물로 바쳐진] 그를 [실제로] 죽은 자 가운데서 도로 받은 것이니라.”(히 11:19, 확대번역본)

이는 오늘의 본문 구절에서 바울이 자신과 동료들이 힘에 부칠 정도로 짓눌려 있었고, 상황이 너무나도 절망적이어서 사형 선고를 받은 것처럼 느꼈던 것과 동일합니다.

따라서 그들은 스스로를 신뢰하고 의지하기보다 죽은 자를 살리시는 하나님을 의지했습니다. 얼마나 놀라운 사고방식입니까! 그들은 자신의 생명을 포기했었습니다. 자기 자신에게 사형 선고를 내렸지만, 부활의 의식을 가지고 있었습니다.

마치 하나님께서 다시 살리실 것을 알고 자신을 버리신 예수님과 같습니다! 우리는 믿음의 자녀이며, 아브라함의 자녀입니다. 우리는 아브라함처럼 행동합니다. 우리는 우리의 영에 부활의 의식을 가지고 있습니다.

이런 의식을 가졌다면 주님께 드리지 않을 것은 아무것도 없습니다. 그분이 죽은 사람을 살리시는 하나님이심을 알기 때문입니다! 무엇이든지 구하는 것은 천 배로 돌아옵니다. 아브라함은 이삭을 드렸고, 여러 민족의 조상이 되었습니다. 아브라함의 자손들이 해변의 모래와 같이 많아졌습니다.

그러므로 주님을 참되게, 기쁘게, 온전히 섬기십시오. 당신이 부활의 의식을 가지고 있다면 모든 것을 그분께 드린다는 생각이 당신을 괴롭히거나, 불안하게 하거나, 잠 못 이루게 하지 않을 것입니다. 할렐루야!

HAVE A RESURRECTION CONSCIOUSNESS

“But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead”(2 Corinthians 1:9).

The Bible tells us that God asked Abraham to offer up Isaac, his only son, whom he had at an old age. Abraham didn’t hesitate or complain; as he went ahead to offer Isaac, God promptly stopped him. As the book of Hebrews reveals, Abraham had Isaac raised back to life.

As far as God was concerned, it was a resurrection because Abraham had totally given up Isaac. It was God who said, “Abraham, stop! Don’t hurt the child.” Abraham had faith in the resurrection. The Bible says, “For he reasoned that God was able to raise [him] up even from among the dead. Indeed in the sense that Isaac was figuratively dead [potentially sacrificed], he did [actually] receive him back from the dead.” (Hebrews 11:19 AMPC).

It’s the same thing that Paul was talking about in the opening scripture where he narrated how he and his companions were so weighed down beyond their strength, and their situation was so devastating that they felt within themselves the very sentence of death.

So instead of trusting in and depending on themselves, they depended on God who raises the dead. What a mindset! They had given up on life as far as they were concerned; they had the sentence of death in themselves but they had a resurrection consciousness.

That’s just like Jesus who gave Himself up, knowing that the Father will raise him back to life! We’re the children of faith, the children of Abraham, and we act like Abraham. We carry the resurrection consciousness in our spirits.

In that condition, nothing is kept back from the Lord, because you know that He is the God who raises the dead! Anything He asks you to give is multiplied back to you a thousandfold and more. Abraham offered Isaac and he became the father of many nations. His descendants became as countless as the sand on the seashore.

So, serve the Lord truly, joyfully and fully. The very idea to give your all to Him shouldn’t trouble, destabilize or give you sleepless nights when you have the resurrection consciousness. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I have the resurrection consciousness, being convinced that you’re able to raise the dead. Therefore, I’m always active in my service to you, in truth, with all my heart, rejoicing in hope, and patient in times of trouble. I remain steadfast and unmovable, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

누가는 사도행전 19장에서 사도 바울이 복음을 전파하면서 겪었던 불쾌한 경험을 생생하게 묘사합니다. 누가는 사도 바울이 겪었던 개인적인 위협과 감금, 은세공자 데메드리오가 이끌었던 폭동, 그리고 22장에 나온 천부장이 그를 막사로 데려가 채찍질하고 심문했던 일에 대해서도 기록했습니다.

바울이 이렇게 회고하는 것도 당연합니다. “…내가 수고를 넘치도록 하고 옥에 갇히기도 더 많이 하고 매도 수없이 맞고 여러 번 죽을 뻔하였으니.”(고후 11:23) 바울은 고린도 교회에 보낸 첫 번째 서신에서 에베소에서의 경험을 회상하며 다음과 같이 말했습니다. “내가 에베소에서 맹수와 더불어 싸웠다면…”(고전 15:32)

바울은 두 번째 서신에서 아시아에서 너무나 심한 고난을 당해 마치 사형선고를 받은 것처럼 느꼈지만 은혜로 초자연적인 구원을 받았다고 설명합니다(고후 1:8-9).

GIVE IT YOUR ALL

“For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life”(2 Corinthians 1:8).

In Acts 19, Luke vividly captures for us some of the Apostle Paul’s unpleasant experiences as he went about preaching the Gospel. He talked about his personal risks and imprisonments, the riot orchestrated by Demetrius the silversmith, and in the 22nd chapter, how a commander ordered that he be taken into the barracks to be flogged and interrogated.

No wonder Paul himself recounts, “…in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft” (2 Corinthians 11:23). In his first epistle to the Corinthian church, Paul recalls his experience of Ephesus and said, “…I have fought with beasts at Ephesus…” (1 Corinthians 15:32).

In his second epistle, he narrated how in Asia, it became so bad they felt like they’d been sent to death row, but graciously had supernatural deliverance (2 Corinthians 1:8-9).

This same Gospel has been committed to your trust, will you take it lightly or put your all into it? Would you stick out your neck to preach the Gospel to your co-workers or business associates even if it means losing your job or losing out on business contracts you’ve so much desired?

How about your family members who aren’t yet born again? Would you go all out for them, or remain quiet to avoid being hated, disliked or ostracized? There’re those who for the fear of losing the relationships they’ve built, will never witness to their friends. How sad!

You’re a witness to your generation, and the Lord will hold you responsible as their witness. You’ve got to be committed to bringing salvation to those in your world. What you’re into isn’t something to save your head; it’s not about the comforts of life or the benefits you get out of it, no! You’re not into this for what any man can give you, but for the honour and glory of Christ the Lord.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, there’re no limits to how far I’m willing to go for this priceless Gospel that has been committed to my trust. I preach it boldly in the power of the Spirit, delivering many from the Kingdom of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

당신이 사도 바울과 주님의 다른 사도들이 기록한 말씀을 읽을 때, 그들이 우리에게 이 말씀을 전하기 위해 어떤 대가를 치렀는지 생각해 본 적이 있습니까? 교회사를 공부해보면 많은 사람들이 복음 때문에 죽임을 당했다는 것을 알게 됩니다.

스데반에 대해 읽어보십시오. 스데반이 유대인들을 회심하게 하는데 성공하자 의회는 분노했고, 결국 그는 돌에 맞아 죽었습니다! 어떤 이들은 목이 잘리고, 십자가에 못 박히고, 화형을 당하고, 끓는 가마솥에 던져졌습니다. 따라서 당신은 이 말씀이 당신에게 오기까지의 비용을 생각해봐야 합니다.

COUNT THE COST

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God”(Acts 20:24).

In Acts 20:17–27, Luke tells us how Paul and his team left Troas and sailed to Miletus, where he gave his heartfelt farewell to the elders of Ephesus. There, he reminded them of how he served the Lord with all humility, in tears in the midst of adversity, affliction and trials.

In the twenty third verse, he said, “…the Holy Spirit clearly and emphatically affirms to me in city after city that imprisonment and suffering await me. But none of these things move me; neither do I esteem my life dear to myself…” (Act 20:23-24 AMPC). This great apostle minced no words about the fact that he had put his life on the line for the sake of the Gospel. What an inspiration! What a commitment!

When you go through the scriptures written by the apostle Paul and the other apostles of the Lord, have you ever thought what it cost them to get the message across to us? Study church history, and you’ll discover that many of them were killed for the sake of the Gospel.

Read about Stephen. His success in converting Jews drew the indignation of the Sanhedrin, and he was stoned to death! Some were beheaded, crucified, burned at the stakes and others were thrown into cauldron of boiling oil. So, you have to count the cost.

Be ready and willing to lay your life on the line for the Gospel, especially in these last days. Nothing should be too much for you to give up, give for, or go through for the Gospel. No matter the sacrifices you make for the Gospel, be ready and willing to give your life for it, if it comes to that.

How dear is your life? Is it so important that you wouldn’t do more for the Lord, just so you could save your name, yourself, or the money that you’ve got? Is that all there is about life to you? You should come to that point in your life where you’re absolutely convinced that nothing is too much for you to give for the Gospel, including your life. Jesus said in Mark 8:35, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.”

PRAYER

Dear Father, I remain resolute and unapologetic about the Gospel; I stand for the Gospel everywhere, preaching it boldly with absolute convictions, even unto death if need be. Amen.

ACTUATE YOUR POTENTIAL

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”(Ephesians 2:10).

Potential is a latent ability, a hidden power that hasn’t been developed. It is that unused ability, hidden away in the inner recesses of your heart, mind, and soul.

Potential is what you could be that you aren’t yet, what you could do that you haven’t done, or everything inside you that is yet to be actuated. Potential doesn’t refer to the successes you’ve achieved, but the ones that are possible that you’re yet to achieve.

Many have lived and died without actuating their potential or fulfilling God’s dream for them; many have died without becoming what He wanted them to be. Nothing could be more miserable than that! How would you feel if, at the judgment seat of Christ, you’re shown everything you could have been, and the possibilities you could have fulfilled but that were never actuated?

So, learn about the real you, through the Word and stand up to be what the Word has described you to be with limitless possibilities; the ability to do more and be more.

Remember the words of the Lord Jesus in John 12:24. He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”

Consider a fruit-tree seed: That seed has the potential of not just becoming a tree, but a forest. Every tree has the potential of a forest. God doesn’t only reserve the rights, but also intends to hold men accountable for their potentials. We’re dealing here with your potential in God. The Bible says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body…” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

At the Judgment, some are going to see all that they were meant to be that they never became; all they could have said that they never said; and all they could have done that they never did. So make up your mind you’d be everything God has chosen you to be. Trust the Holy Spirit to help you see and live to your fullest potential and fulfil your destiny and calling in Christ.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for helping me to live to my fullest potential and fulfil my destiny and calling in Christ. I’m running my race swiftly, pressing towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, under the inspiration of your Spirit, and guidance of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

YOU’RE TOP-CLASS

“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures”(James 1:18).

Observe the beginning of the construction in the opening verse; it says, “Of his own will begat He us….” That means the Lord gave birth to us of His own volition; it was His choice to give birth to us with the Word of truth that we should be a kind or a type of first fruit of His creatures!

What’s the meaning of first fruits? First fruit means the first and the best of anything; it implies “top class. You’re top class; excellent all the way, because you’re born of God. Hallelujah!

The same truth is reiterated by the apostle Peter in 1 Peter 1:23: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). John also referenced the fact that this happened by God’s own design; it was His will: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

It was His will to make you top-class. So, live your best and be your best for Him. Keep your mind on the image of you that God has given you in His Word. You’re His peculiar treasure, His reproduction, His excellent handiwork, a bundle of success, an achiever, and a victor in Christ Jesus.

He made you for glory and beauty. See how He describes you in Ephesians 2:10 AMPC: “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” Let this put springs in your steps.

It makes no difference who condemns you; refuse to be distracted by what others might be saying about you. What counts is who you are in Christ: you’re top-class; perfected in righteousness, holy unblameable, and unreproveable in God’s sight (Colossians 1:22). Glory to His Name forever!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for you’ve made me the expression of your beauty, excellence, perfections and grace. Thank you for your glory in my life. I declare that my life is for your praise and glory, and I fulfil my destiny in Christ, bringing forth fruits unto righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Born Of Him

“영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니 이는 혈통으로나 육정으로나 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하고 오직 하나님께로부터 난 자들이니라”(요 1:12-13)

그리스도인은 평범한 사람이 아닙니다. 그리스도인은 하나님과 같은 종류로 태어났습니다. 당신은 거듭남으로 신성한 본성에 참여하는 자가 되었고, 하나님과 같은 종류의 존재가 되었습니다(벧후 1:4). 당신이 생물학적 부모로부터 태어났을 때는 인간과 같은 존재였습니다. 당신은 낳아준 부모와 같이 인간으로 태어났습니다.

그러나 당신이 부모로부터 받은 인간의 생명은 부패하고, 죽음의 운명에 처해 있으며, 썩어 없어질 생명이었습니다. 그러므로 그 생명은 하나님의 생명과 본성으로 대체되어야 했습니다. 그래서 예수님은 다음과 같이 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 네게 거듭나야 하겠다 하는 말을 놀랍게 여기지 말라.”(요 3:7)

당신이 거듭난 지금, 불굴의, 썩지 않는, 초월적인 하나님의 생명이 인간의 생명을 대체했습니다. 우리가 말 그대로 하나님의 아들이며 그분에게서 태어났다는 점은 자연적인 생각으로는 도저히 믿을 수 없는 사실입니다.

사도 요한이 이렇게 말한 것도 당연합니다. “보라 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 베푸사 하나님의 자녀라 일컬음을 받게 하셨는가…사랑하는 자들아 우리가 지금은 하나님의 자녀라…”(요일 3:1-2) 여기서 “자녀”로 번역된 단어는 그리스어로 “테크논(teknon)”이며, 실제로 누군가에게서 난 자녀를 뜻합니다. 직접 낳은 ‘자녀’가 아닐 수도 있는 그리스어 “휴오스(huois)”와는 대조됩니다.

사도 요한은 “테크논”이라는 단어를 사용하여 당신이 실제로 하나님에게서 태어났음을 강조합니다. 생명을 가진 모든 것은 그 종류대로 번식합니다. 독수리는 독수리를 낳고, 개는 개를 낳고, 사람은 사람을 낳습니다. 하나님께서 우리를 낳으셨다면, 우리는 어떤 자입니까?

주 예수께서는 시편 기자를 인용하여 대답하셨습니다. “예수께서 이르시되 너희 율법에 기록된 바 내가 너희를 신이라 하였노라 하지 아니하였느냐…”(요 10:34-36) 예수님이 지상에 계실 때 생각하셨던 것처럼 스스로에 대해 생각하십시오. 예수님의 특별한 행보를 보고 그분이 어떻게 사셨는지 기억하십시오! 성경은 말합니다. “주께서 그러하심과 같이 우리도 이 세상에서 그러하니라.”(요일 4:17) 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 당신의 신성한 생명이 나의 온 존재인 영, 혼, 몸을 가득 채우는 영생의 생생한 경험에 감사드립니다! 하나님의 신성함이 내 안에서 나를 통해 온전히 드러나며, 나는 의와 영광과 승리 가운데 걷습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

BORN OF HIM

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”(John 1:12-13).

The Christian is not an ordinary person. He’s born into God’s class. Being born again made you a partaker of the divine nature; an associate of the God-kind (2 Peter 1:4). When you were born of your biological parents, you became an associate of the human-kind; you became as human as your parents that gave birth to you.

However, that human life you got from your parents was depraved, death-doomed, and corruptible. Therefore, it needed to be supplanted by the life and nature of God. It’s the reason Jesus said, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

Now that you’re born again, the indomitable, incorruptible and transcendent life of God has supplanted the human life. This absolutely beggars the natural mind; to think that in reality, we’re literally sons of God—born of Him.

No wonder John cries out, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…Beloved, now are we the sons of God…” (1 John 3:1-2). The word that’s translated as “Sons” is the Greek, “teknon”; it actually refers to someone that is born of another, in contradistinction to the Greek “huois” which may not be ‘sons’ by birth.

The apostle John uses the word “teknon” to emphasize that you’re actually born of God. Everything in life reproduces after its kind. An eagle reproduces eagles, a dog gives birth to dogs, and humans give birth to humans. Now, since God gave birth to us, who are we?

The Lord Jesus, quoting the psalmist, gives us an answer. He said, “Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods…?” (John 10:34-36). Think about yourself the same way you’d think about Jesus when he walked the earth; how He lived, His extraordinary walk! The scripture declares: As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the vital experience of eternal life through which your divine life has completely inundated my entire being—spirit, soul and body! I walk in righteousness, glory and victory, as your divinity is fully expressed in and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
