Three Important Questions
“예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라”(요 14:6)
사람들은 세 가지 중요한 질문을 합니다. 때때로 그들은 소리를 들을 수 있게 묻기도 하고 심령 안에서 묻기도 합니다. 첫 번째 질문은 영원한 생명에 관한 것입니다. 누가복음 18:18에서 어떤 관리가 예수님께 묻습니다. “선한 선생님이여 내가 무엇을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까?” 그는 분명 영원한 생명에 대해 알고 있었습니다. 그는 유대인이었으며 예수님께서 영원한 생명에 대해 설교하시는 것을 듣고 이에 대해 더 알고 싶었습니다.
두 번째 질문은 요한복음 18:38에서 찾을 수 있습니다. 여기서 예수님은 신성모독죄로 체포되어 빌라도에게 넘겨졌습니다. 성경은 “빌라도가 이르되 진리가 무엇이냐”라고 물었다고 말합니다. 굉장한 질문입니다! 빌라도는 예수님께서 이전 구절에서 그에게 하신 말씀 때문에 위와 같은 질문을 했습니다. 함께 읽어보겠습니다. “빌라도가 이르되 그러면 네가 왕이 아니냐 예수께서 대답하시되 네 말과 같이 내가 왕이니라 내가 이를 위하여 태어났으며 이를 위하여 세상에 왔나니 곧 진리에 대하여 증언하려 함이로라 무릇 진리에 속한 자는 내 음성을 듣느니라 하신대”(요 18:37)
세 번째 중요한 질문은 요한복음 14:5에 있으며, 예수님의 제자 중 하나인 도마가 한 질문입니다. “… 주여 주께서 어디로 가시는지 우리가 알지 못하거늘 그 길을 어찌 알겠사옵나이까” 이는 오늘날 많은 사람들이 하는 질문과 같습니다. “하나님께로 가는 길이 너무 많습니다. 어떤 길이 맞는지 우리가 어떻게 아나요? 교회가 너무 많은데 어떤 교회가 옳은지 어떻게 알 수 있나요?”
주 예수님께서는 이 모든 질문들에 대해 요한복음 14:6에서 대답하셨습니다. “…내가 곧 길(the way)이요 진리(the truth)요 생명(the life)이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라.” 여기 언급된 정관사 “the”에 주목하십시오. 그분은 부정관사 “a”를 쓰지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 정관사 “the”를 쓰셨으며, 이는 유일하다는 의미입니다. 다른 길은 없습니다. 예수님은 다른 길의 여지를 두지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 “나는 여러 길들 중 하나다”라고 말씀하실 수도 있었지만 그러지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니”라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그분의 이름에 영원토록 영광을 드립니다!
당신이 이것을 이해한다면, 이는 당신의 모든 세상을 바꿀 것입니다. 당신의 삶은 완전히 바뀔 것입니다. 당신이 발산하는 담대함과 삶에서의 결과들은 뛰어나며 놀라울 것입니다. 할렐루야!
고백
복되신 예수님, 당신은 길이고 진리이며 생명입니다. 당신 외에는 어떠한 길도 없습니다. 내가 그리스도 안에서 완전하고, 그 무엇도 부족하지 않으며, 아무것도 더 필요하지 않다는 것을 알게 되어 얼마나 영광스러운지요! 예수님은 나의 전부이시며, 영원토록 주님께만 영광과 존귀와 찬송을 드립니다. 아멘

Three Important Questions
Jesus saith to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
People ask three important questions. Sometimes, they ask audibly or in their hearts. The first of these questions is about eternal life; we see this in Luke 18:18, where a certain ruler asked Jesus, “…Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” The ruler obviously knew something about eternal life; he was a Jew, and he heard Jesus preach about it and wanted to know more about it.
The second question is found in John 18:38. Jesus, at this time, had been arrested and brought before Pilate, upon being charged with blasphemy. The Bible says, “Pilate saith to him, What is truth?” What a question! Pilate asked Jesus that question because of what Jesus said to him in the preceding verse. Let’s read: “Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a King then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice” (John 18:37).
The third important question is found in John 14:5, and it was asked by one of His disciples, Thomas. He said “…Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” It’s like what many say today: “There’re so many ways to God; how do we know which one is right? There’re so many churches, how can we know which one is right?”
The Lord Jesus answered all of these three questions in John 14:6. He said, “…I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.” Notice the definite article, “THE”; He didn’t say, “I’m a way, a truth, and a life.” He used the definite article, meaning this is it! There’s no other. He took away every opportunity for options. He could have said, “I’m one of the ways”, but He didn’t say that. He said, “I AM the way. I AM the truth. I AM the life.” Glory to His Name forever!
If you understand this, it’ll change your whole world; your life will be completely altered. The boldness you’d exude and the results of your life will be outstanding and astounding. Hallelujah!

Blessed Jesus, you’re the way, the truth and the Life; besides you, there’s no other. How glorious it is to know that I’m complete in you, lacking nothing and in need of nothing. You’re my everything; and to you alone be all glory, honour and praise forevermore. Amen.
