Dominion Over Death And Hell
“곧 살아 있는 자라 내가 전에 죽었었노라 볼지어다 이제 세세토록 살아 있어 사망과 음부의 열쇠를 가졌노니”(계 1:18)
성경은 아담의 불순종 이후 죽음이 모든 사람에게 이르렀다고 말합니다. “그러므로 한 사람으로 말미암아 죄가 세상에 들어오고 죄로 말미암아 사망이 들어왔나니 이와 같이 모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 사망이 모든 사람에게 이르렀느니라”(롬 5:12). 죽음은 죄와 관련이 있었습니다. 그래서 아담이 사탄에게 순종하므로 에덴동산에서 반역을 범했을 때, 죽음이 모든 사람에게 이르렀습니다. 사탄은 아픔, 질병, 파멸, 그리고 궁극적으로 죽음을 이용하며 그가 원하는 대로 사람들을 괴롭히는 자유를 얻었습니다.
그러나 예수님께서 오셨을 때, 모든 것이 바뀌었습니다. 죽음의 공포 때문에 한평생 매여 종 노릇 하던 모든 사람들이 죽음과 무덤을 이기신 예수 그리스도의 승리로 해방되었습니다. “자녀들은 혈과 육에 속하였으매 그도 또한 같은 모양으로 혈과 육을 함께 지니심은 죽음을 통하여 죽음의 세력을 잡은 자 곧 마귀를 멸하시며 또 죽기를 무서워하므로 한평생 매여 종 노릇 하는 모든 자들을 놓아주려 하심이니”(히 2:14-15).
예수님은 사탄의 영역인 지옥으로 바로 들어가셔서 사탄과 그 무리를 무력화하시고, 사망과 음부의 열쇠를 손에 넣으셨습니다! 예수님은 죽음으로부터 당당하게 부활하시고 인간에게 새 생명을 주시며 죽음의 문제를 완전히 끝내셨습니다.
오늘날 거듭난 자는 죽음을 두려워할 필요가 없습니다. 예수님께서 사망을 이기셨기 때문입니다. 고린도전서 15:54-57이 다음과 같이 말하는 것도 당연합니다. “이 썩을 것이 썩지 아니함을 입고 이 죽을 것이 죽지 아니함을 입을 때에는 사망을 삼키고 이기리라고 기록된 말씀이 이루어지리라 사망아 너의 승리가 어디 있느냐 사망아 네가 쏘는 것이 어디 있느냐 사망이 쏘는 것은 죄요 죄의 권능은 율법이라 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 승리를 주시는 하나님께 감사하노니.”
예수님은 우리에게 사망과 무덤을 이긴 승리를 주셨습니다. 이제 사탄은 더 이상 그 누구의 생명도 마음대로 빼앗을 수 없습니다. 사탄이 죽음의 권세를 가지고 있지 않기 때문입니다. 그리스도께서 우리에게 충만한 삶을 위한 생명을 주셨습니다. 그분의 임재에는 기쁨이 가득하고 그분의 오른손에는 영원히 즐거움이 넘쳐납니다. “나는 양들이 생명을 얻어 누리게 하고, 더 풍성히 (그 생명이 흘러 넘칠 때까지 최대한으로) 얻게 하려고 왔다”(요 10:10 확대번역본).
고백
나는 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔으나 살아 있습니다. 그러나 내가 사는 것이 아니라 그리스도께서 내 안에 사십니다. 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 하나님의 아들의 믿음으로 사는 것입니다! 나는 생명과 불멸 안으로 들어왔습니다. 나는 두려워하지 않습니다. 죽음이 예수님에 의해 꼼짝하지 못하고 패배했기 때문입니다. 예수님께서 승리하셨을 때 나는 그분 안에 있었습니다. 할렐루야!

Dominion Over Death And Hell
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death”(Revelation 1:18).
Following Adam’s disobedience, the Bible says death came upon all men: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:12). Death was associated with sin, and so when Adam committed high treason back in the Garden of Eden by obeying Satan, death began to work in every man. Satan gained liberty to afflict men with sickness, disease, destruction and ultimately death, at his will.
But when Jesus came, things changed. Men and women who were all their lifetime subject to bondage because of the fear of death, were liberated through the victory of Jesus Christ over death and the grave: “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15).
Jesus went right into hell—Satan’s domain—paralyzed Satan and his cohorts, and obtained the keys of death and hell! He dealt with the problem of death when He triumphantly rose from the dead and ushered man into a new life.
Today, anyone who’s born again needs not fear death, for death has been defeated by Jesus. No wonder the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:54-57, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
He’s given us victory over death and the grave. Today, Satan can no longer take anybody’s life at will because he doesn’t have the power of death anymore. Christ has given us life to live to the full. In His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures evermore: “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [2] overflows)” (John 10:10 AMPC).
CONFESSION
I’m crucified with Christ, nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God! I’ve been brought into life and immortality. I’m fearless, for death has been paralysed—defeated by Jesus, and when He did it, I was in Him! Hallelujah!
