우리의 영원한 변호자
Our Eternal Advocate
“나의 자녀들아 내가 이것을 너희에게 씀은 너희로 죄를 범하지 않게 하려 함이라 만일 누가 죄를 범하여도 아버지 앞에서 우리에게 대언자가 있으니 곧 의로우신 예수 그리스도시라”(요일 2:1)
우리를 향한 아버지의 사랑의 위대함은 언제나 인간의 이해를 초월합니다. 성령님께서 바울을 통해 교회를 위해 기도하실 때, 우리를 향한 아버지의 무조건적인 그 사랑의 깊이와 너비를 깨닫게 해달라고 기도하신 이유가 있습니다(엡 3:18-19). 하나님은 예수님을 우리를 대신해 죽으시도록 보내셨습니다. 하나님은 예수님을 죽은 자 가운데서 살리셨고, 예수님을 우리의 영원한 변호인으로 임명하셨습니다. 할렐루야!
오늘의 본문 구절은 말합니다. “만일 누가 죄를 범하여도 아버지 앞에서 우리에게 대언자가 있으니 곧 의로우신 예수 그리스도시라.” 당신을 대신하여 죽으신 분 외에는 아무도 당신을 변호할 충분한 자격을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 예수님께서는 당신을 대신하여 죄인의 자리에 서셨고 그분의 의를 당신에게 주셨습니다. 아버지 앞에서 감히 당신을 정죄할 자가 없습니다.
성경은 사탄이 하나님의 백성을 정죄하는 자라고 말합니다. 이러한 사탄이 당신을 정죄하고 당신이 하나님의 축복을 받을 자격이 없는 사람이라고 생각하게끔 만들 때, 당신의 변호자이신 주 예수님께서 당신의 편에서 당신을 보호하십니다. 예수님께서 당신을 변호하십니다. 성경은 예수님께서 우리를 사랑하시고 그분 자신의 피로 우리의 죄를 깨끗하게 씻으셨다고 말합니다(계 1:5-6).
예수님의 보혈이 항상 당신의 편에서 대변하고 있으며, 모든 불의와 죄의 얼룩으로부터 당신을 깨끗케 하십니다(요일 1:7-9).
예수님께서 이 모든 일을 행하신 것은 당신을 하나님 앞에 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 세우기 위함입니다(골 1:22). 하늘에서 예수님은 아버지의 진노로부터 여러분을 보호하려 애쓰고 계시지 않습니다. 아버지께서도 친히 여러분을 사랑하시기 때문입니다(요 16:27). 하나님 아버지는 예수님을 당신의 변호자이자 당신을 보호하는 자로 세우셨습니다. 예수님을 당신 편에 둔 이상 당신이 패배하거나 불리한 상황에 놓이는 것은 불가능합니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 당신의 은혜와 자비와 사랑에 감사드립니다. 그로 인해 나는 영광의 삶을 살며, 죄와 정죄와 책망으로부터 자유로운 삶을 살아갑니다. 나를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하고 나를 아버지가 보시기에 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 만드신 예수님의 보혈에 감사합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

Our Eternal Advocate
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”(1 John 2:1).
The greatness of the Father’s love for us is indeed beyond human comprehension. No wonder the Spirit had to pray through Paul for the Church to come to the understanding of the immensity, magnitude and unconditional love of the Father towards us (Ephesians 3:18-19). He sent Jesus to die for us; He raised Him from the dead, and appointed Him as our eternal advocate. Hallelujah!
He said in our theme verse, “If anyone sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous.” No one else qualifies to plead your case, except the one who died in your place; He took your place as a sinner and gave you His righteousness. No one can condemn you before the Father.
When Satan, who is described in Scripture as the accuser of God’s people, accuses you and tries to make you undeserving of God’s blessings, the Lord Jesus, your advocate stands up in your defence. He pleads your case. The Bible says He loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood (Revelation 1:5-6).
His blood speaks continually in your behalf, cleansing you from all unrighteousness and every stain of sin (1 John 1:7-9).
Jesus did all that He did in order to present you holy, blameless and unreproveable in the sight of God (Colossians 1:22). In heaven, Jesus isn’t trying to defend you from the Father’s wrath, for the Father Himself loves you (John 16:27). The Father ordained Jesus to be your advocate—counsel for the defence. With Him on your side, it’s impossible for you to be defeated or disadvantaged. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your grace, mercy and love by which I live a life of glory, free from sin, guilt and condemnation. Thank you for the blood of Jesus that cleanses me from all unrighteousness, making me holy, unblameable and unreprovable in your sight, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
