He Has Presented His Blood

“그리스도께서는 참 것의 그림자인 손으로 만든 성소에 들어가지 아니하시고 바로 그 하늘에 들어가사 이제 우리를 위하여 하나님 앞에 나타나시고”(히 9:24)

요한복음 20:11-18은 부활하신 주님께서 가장 처음 나타나신 날의 이야기입니다. 예수님께서 십자가에 못 박히시고 장사되신 후, 막달라 마리아가 셋째 날에 그분의 몸에 향료로 기름을 붓기 위해 무덤으로 향했습니다. 그러나 무덤에 도착했을 때, 입구를 막고 있던 돌은 옆으로 굴러가 있었습니다. 몹시 놀란 마리아는 그대로 달려가 예수님의 제자였던 베드로와 요한에게 누군가가 주님의 시신을 가져갔다고 말했습니다.

성경이 우리를 위해 기록한 내용을 11절에서 보면, 베드로와 요한이 떠난 후 마리아가 울며 무덤 곁에 머물렀습니다. 그러나 마리아가 돌아서서 떠나려는 순간, 그녀가 모르는 어떤 사람이 서 있는 것을 보았습니다. (이 분이 예수님이셨습니다.) 그분은 왜 그녀가 우는지 물었고, 그녀는 누가 예수님의 시신을 가져갔다고 설명했습니다.

그 순간 주님은 “마리아” 라고 그녀의 이름을 부르셨고, 마리아는 그분이 예수님이심을 깨달았습니다. 너무나 기뻤던 마리아가 예수님을 껴안으려 몸을 돌렸지만, 예수님은 만지지 말라고 알려주시며 그 이유를 말씀하셨습니다. “…나를 붙들지 말라 내가 아직 아버지께로 올라가지 아니하였노라 너는 내 형제들에게 가서 이르되 내가 내 아버지 곧 너희 아버지, 내 하나님 곧 너희 하나님께로 올라간다 하라 하시니.”(요 20:17)

이 뜻은 예수님께서 갈릴리에서 제자들과 만나기 전에, 그리고 그분을 다시 만질 수 있게 되기 전에, 예수님이 우리의 대제사장으로서 아버지께로 올라가 그분의 피를 주시는 것을 의미합니다. 구약에서는 제사장들이 매년 한 해의 속죄를 위해 제물을 드렸지만, 예수님께서는 한 번에 인류의 영원한 속죄를 이루셨습니다.

따라서 그분의 희생은 하늘로 올라가 바치신 예수님의 보혈이었습니다. 히브리서 9:12에서 읽은 것과 같이, 그분의 보혈이 드려졌습니다. “염소와 송아지의 피로 하지 아니하고 오직 자기의 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루사 단번에 성소에 들어가셨느니라.”

마태의 기록에 따르면 예수님께서 갈릴리에 가셨을 때, 제자들에게 가장 먼저 말씀하신 것은 “all hail(만세)”(마 28:9)였습니다. 예수님께서는 이렇게 말씀하고 계신 것입니다. “모든 일이 끝났다! 그 일이 일어났다! 내가 나의 피를 바치고 인류를 위한 영원한 속량을 얻었다.” 하나님을 송축합니다!

고백

복되신 주 예수님, 우리의 죄를 담당하시고 당신의 피로 단번에 영원히 깨끗케 하시니 감사드립니다! 예수님께서는 인간이 초래한, 해결 방법이 없는 죄에 대한 모든 대가를 지불하셨습니다. 이제 나는 깨끗케 되었고, 거룩하게 구별되었고, 의로워졌습니다. 나는 죄와 사망과 멸망으로부터 자유합니다. 주 예수님의 이름을 영원히 찬양하고 경배합니다!

HE HAS PRESENTED HIS BLOOD

“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us”(Hebrews 9:24).

John 20:11-18 tells us the story of the first appearance of the risen Lord. After Jesus was crucified and buried, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb on the third day to anoint His body with spices. However, when she arrived at the tomb, she found that the stone covering the entrance had been rolled away. Rattled, Mary ran to tell Peter and John, two of Jesus’ disciples, that someone had taken the body of the Master.

The Bible records for us in the 11th verse that after Peter and John left, Mary stayed at the tomb, weeping. But as she turned to leave, she saw a man standing there, whom she did not recognize (the man was Jesus). He asked her why she was crying, and she again explained that someone had taken away Jesus’ body.

At that moment, the Master called her by name, “Mary,” and she realized that it was Jesus Himself. Overjoyed, Mary turned to hug Him, but He instructed her to not touch Him, and told her why: “…Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:17).

This means that before He meets with the disciples in Galilee, and before anyone could touch Him, He would have ascended to His Father, as our High Priest and presented His blood. Whereas the priests of the Old Testament had to offer sacrifices year after year for a yearly atonement, Jesus did it once and obtained eternal redemption for mankind.

So, His sacrifice was in His own blood which He went to heaven to present. His blood was accepted as read in Hebrews 9:12: “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

In Matthew’s account, when He came to Galilee, the first thing He said to His disciples was “All hail” (Matthew 28:9). In other words, “It’s done! It has happened! I’ve presented my blood and obtained eternal redemption for mankind.” Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Blessed Lord Jesus, thank you for bearing our sins and washing them away with your blood, once and for all! You paid the ultimate price for sin, which man had incurred without a means of settlement. Now, I’m washed, sanctified, and justified; free from sin, death, and destruction. Your name be praised and adored forever!
