Embrace The Picture Of The New You
“너희 중에 이와 같은 자들이 있더니 주 예수 그리스도의 이름과 우리 하나님의 성령 안에서 씻음과 거룩함과 의롭다 하심을 받았느니라”(고전 6:11)
거듭난 후에도 계속해서 자신을 “은혜로 구원받은 죄인”으로 바라보는 것이 잘못된 것임을 알고 계셨습니까? 많은 사람들이 이런 사고방식을 가지고 살고 있기 때문에 그들은 그리스도인의 삶을 사는 데 비효과적입니다. 거듭나면, 당신의 생명은 새롭고 신성합니다. 그러므로 새로운 자신의 모습을 받아들이십시오. 당신은 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 의입니다. 예수님이 지금 그러하시듯이 당신도 이 땅에서 그러합니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 새 생명에 대해 더 크게 의식하십시오. 그 생명은 당신에게 죄를 초월하여 사는 힘을 줍니다. 누군가는 “만약 그것이 사실이라면, 왜 저는 아직도 잘못된 일을 하고, 잘못된 생각을 하는 건가요?”라고 묻기7도 합니다. 그것은 당신이 말씀의 통치를 받고, 말씀 안에서 그리고 말씀을 따라 사는 것에 자신을 완전히 양보하지 않았기 때문입니다. 이는 오늘의 본문 구절이 포함된 고린도전서 6:9-11을 떠올려 줍니다.
사도 바울은 고린도에 있는 그리스도인들 중 일부가 삶의 방식에 있어서 그들이 받은 새로운 의의 본성을 반영하지 않았기에 그들을 꾸짖었습니다. 그러나 바울은 그들을 “죄인”이라 부르지 않았습니다. 그는 이렇게 편지를 썼습니다. “불의한 자가 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못할 줄을 알지 못하느냐 미혹을 받지 말라 음행하는 자나 우상 숭배하는 자나 간음하는 자나 탐색하는 자나 남색하는 자나 도적이나 탐욕을 부리는 자나 술 취하는 자나 모욕하는 자나 속여 빼앗는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못하리라 너희 중에 이와 같은 자들이 있더니 주 예수 그리스도의 이름과 우리 하나님의 성령 안에서 씻음과 거룩함과 의롭다 하심을 받았느니라.”
바울이 “너희 중에 이와 같은 자들이 있으니”라고 말하지 않고, “너희 중에 이와 같은 자들이 있었으니”라고 과거 시제를 사용하여 말한 것에 주목하십시오. 그리스도 안에 있는 당신은 이제 모든 불의함으로부터 깨끗해졌기 때문입니다. 당신은 씻음을 받았고 죄에서 하나님께로 분리되었으며, 주님의 이름 안에서 그리고 우리 하나님의 성령으로 의롭다고 선포되었습니다!
당신의 새로운 정체성을 인식하십시오. 새로운 모습을 보고 그에 따라 사십시오. 말씀을 공부하고 묵상하십시오. 말씀은 당신의 진정한 영광을 보여주며 진정한 인격을 드러냅니다. 당신은 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 의입니다!
고백
나는 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 의입니다. 그러므로 나는 어떤 두려움이나 죄책감이나 정죄감 없이 담대하게 살아가며, 자신의 의로 말미암아 경건하지 않은 자를 의롭다 하시는 나의 의가 되신 주님을 확신하며 살아갑니다. 할렐루야!

EMBRACE THE PICTURE OF THE NEW YOU
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:11).
Did you know that as one who’s born again, it’s wrong for you to keep seeing yourself as “a sinner?” Many live with this mentality and it reveals why they’re ineffective in their Christian walk. Now that you’re born again, your life is new and divine; therefore, embrace the picture of the new you. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; as Jesus is, so are you in this world.
Have a greater consciousness of your new life in Christ. That life gives you power to live above sin. You may ask, “If this is true, why do I still do wrong things and think wrong thoughts?” It’s because you haven’t fully yielded and subjected yourself to the dominion of the Word, to live in, and by the Word.
It reminds of the account in 1 Corinthians 6:911, part of which we read as our theme verse. The Apostle Paul rebuked some of the Christians in Corinth because their way of life didn’t reflect the new nature of righteousness they had received. Yet, he didn’t call them “sinners.” He writes, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
Notice he didn’t say, “And such are some of you…”; rather, he says, “…and such were some of you,” because now that you’re in Christ, you’ve been cleansed of all unrighteousness. You’ve been washed; separated from sin unto God, and declared righteous, in the Name of the Lord, and by the Spirit of our God!
Recognise your new identity; see the picture of the new you and live accordingly. Study and meditate on the Word; it shows your real glory; it reveals your true personality. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!
CONFESSION
I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; therefore, I live with boldness without any sense of fear, guilt or condemnation, being confident in the Lord who is my righteousness, and in His righteousness, justifies the ungodly. Hallelujah!
