Don’t Live For Yourself
“그러므로 우리는 기회 있는 대로 모든 이에게 착한 일을 하되 더욱 믿음의 가정들에게 할지니라”(갈 6:10)
오늘의 본문 구절은 매우 심오한 의미를 담고 있습니다. 즉 그리스도인인 우리에게 생물학적 가족뿐 아니라 그 이상의 사람들에 대해서도 책임이 있다는 것을 알게 합니다. 하나님은 당신이 당신의 가정(핵가족과 확대가족)을 부양하길 기대하십니다. 그러나 그 수준을 넘어 당신의 생물학적 가족 밖에 있는 사람들, 특히 믿음의 가정들의 필요도 충족시켜야 합니다. 다른 사람들을 돌보고 도움을 주기 위해 다가갈 때 당신은 성공한 자가 됩니다.
하나님의 아이디어 곧 당신의 번영을 위한 하나님의 계획은 당신이 다른 사람들을 풍성하게 도울 수 있도록 충분이상으로 갖게 하는 것입니다. 당신이 남을 돕는 것에 대해 생각할 때, 그분은 그것을 실현하기 위해 놀라운 방법으로 당신에게 은혜를 전해주십니다. 그러므로 남을 돕는 사람과 남을 세워 주는 사람이 되십시오. 당신에게는 다른 사람들을 축복해 줄 기회가 언제나 있을 것이며, 그런 기회가 오면 언제든지 그 기회를 잡으십시오.
예를 들어 지금은 기쁨과 즐거움과 축하를 나누는 크리스마스 시즌입니다. 그러나 이때를 축하할 수 없는 사람들도 있습니다. 기뻐하고 싶지 않아서가 아니라 돈이 없기 때문입니다. 어떤 이들은 이 시기에 적절한 식사를 할 여유조차 없습니다. 하지만 크리스마스 때입니다. 하나님은 당신이 그런 사람들을 기억하고 돕기 원하십니다. 도움을 줄 사람들을 찾아봐야 한다면 그렇게 하십시오.
또한 도심의 가난하고 도움이 필요한 사람들을 돕기 위해 지역 교회가 다 함께 노력하는 일들을 알아보고, 그 중 중요한 역할을 맡고 싶어질 수도 있습니다. 다른 사람들에게 크리스마스를 축하할 이유를 주십시오. 그들이 당신의 번영으로부터 혜택을 받을 수 있게 하십시오. 하나님은 당신을 부자가 되게 하셨고, 당신만이 아니라 다른 사람들을 돕는 데에도 충분이상으로 주셨습니다.
주님께서는 당신이 축복이 되기를 원하십니다. 그분의 은혜는 당신의 인생에 넘칩니다. 그것을 인정하고 선한 일을 위해 사용하십시오. 당신이 가진 것을 나누어 주십시오. 당신의 일터와 거리, 특히 당신이 속한 지역 교회를 둘러보고 도움의 손길을 내밀 수 있는 사람을 찾으십시오. 만약 찾을 수 없다면, 목사님께 물어보십시오. 이번 크리스마스 시즌에 당신은 누군가와 연결될 것이고 주님은 당신을 그 사람의 축복이 될 수 있게 하실 것입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 저에게 넘치는 축복을 주시고, 저를 축복이 되게 하시니 감사합니다. 아버지께서는 저를 뛰어나게 하셨고, 많은 사람들을 세워주는 사람이 되게 하셨습니다. 세상 사람들에게 축복이 될 수 있는 기회를 알아차리기 위해 저는 항상 성령님의 인도를 받습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

DON’T LIVE FOR YOURSELF
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).
Our opening verse is so profound; it lets us know that as Christians, we have a responsibility beyond our biological families. God expects you to cater for your household, your nuclear and extended families, but beyond that, you must also cater for those who are outside of your immediate biological family, especially those in the household of faith. You become a success when you look out for others and reach out to help them.
God’s idea, His plan for your prosperity, is for you to have more than enough to be able to help others abundantly. When you think of helping others, He channels His grace towards you in an extraordinary way to make it happen. So, be a helper and a lifter of others. There’ll always be opportunities for you to be a blessing to others, and anytime that opportunity comes your way, seize it.
For example, it’s Christmas season, a time of joy, merriment, and celebration. But there’re some who aren’t able to celebrate, not because they don’t want to, but because they just don’t have the wherewithal. Some can’t even afford a decent meal at this time; yet, it’s Christmas. God wants you to remember such people and help them. If you have to seek them out to help them, do so.
You may also want to find out about corporate endeavours in your local church geared towards helping the poor and needy in the inner cities, and be a vital part of it. Give others a reason to celebrate. Let others benefit from your prosperity. God has made you rich, and given you more than enough for yourself and to be able to help others.
The Lord wants you to be a blessing. His grace abounds in your life; acknowledge it; use it for good works. Share what you have. Look around in your place of work, your street, and especially your local church and find someone you can lend a helping hand. If you don’t find one, meet your Pastor and ask him or her; you’ll be connected with someone to whom the Lord can make you a blessing this Yuletide season.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for blessing me so abundantly, and making me a blessing! You’ve made me great, and a lifter of many. I’m guided by your Spirit always, to identify the opportunities to be a blessing to those in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
