주님을 위해 사십시오
Live Unto Him
“우리가 살아도 주를 위하여 살고 죽어도 주를 위하여 죽나니 그러므로 사나 죽으나 우리가 주의 것이로다”(롬 14:8)
많은 사람이 다양한 걱정과 삶의 문제에 대해 불만을 가지며 해결하려고 애씁니다. 종종 그들의 불만은 그리스도를 위해 사는 삶의 가치와 성취를 배우지 못한 데서 비롯됩니다. 그분을 위해 산다는 것은 그분을 기쁘시게 하는 일에서 만족과 성취감을 느끼는 것을 의미합니다. 그리고 그분을 기쁘시지 않게 하는 일에서 당신 역시 기쁘지 않게 되는 것입니다.
다시 말해, 당신의 불만은 오직 그분의 불만을 반영합니다. 즉, 당신이 그 무엇도 개인적으로 받아들이지 않는 것입니다. 당신은 개인적인 부정적 감정에 영향을 받지 않게 됩니다. 당신이 주님을 위해 살고 있다고 주장하면서 여전히 상처, 모욕, 분노를 품고 있다면, 주님을 기쁘시게 하려는 당신의 갈망이 진실한 갈망인지 살펴봐야 합니다.
이는 사무엘상 8:4-7의 이야기를 생각나게 합니다. 이스라엘의 장로들은 라마에 있는 선지자 사무엘에게 가서 다른 나라들처럼 왕이 있기를 원한다고 말했습니다. 사무엘은 그들의 요구가 기쁘지 않았고, 그에 대해 주님께 기도를 드렸습니다. 하나님께서는 사무엘에게 백성들의 목소리에 귀를 기울이라고 지시하셨고, 그들의 요구는 사무엘을 거절한 것이 아니라 그들의 왕이신 하나님에 대해 거절한 것임을 분명히 밝히셨습니다.
선지자 사무엘은 개인적으로 기분이 상했지만, 하나님께서는 사무엘에게 상처받지 않는 것에 대해 가르쳐주시고 그를 교정해 주셨습니다. 사람들이 상처를 주는 것은 그에게 하는 일이 아닌 하나님께 하는 일이라는 것을 가르쳐주셨습니다. 주님을 위해 사는 것은 개인적인 감정을 초월해서 사는 것과 당신을 그분의 신성한 뜻에 자신을 일치시키는 것을 포함합니다.
고백
사랑하는 아버지, 나는 다른 사람을 향한 사랑으로 충만한 상태로 항상 주님을 위해 살고 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 일을 하기로 결단합니다. 나는 나의 갈망을 아버지의 신성한 뜻에 일치시킵니다. 나의 기쁨과 만족은 아버지를 기쁘시게 하고, 아버지를 위해 살고, 그리스도 안에 있는 내 목적을 성취하는 것에 있습니다. 아멘.

LIVE UNTO HIM
“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:8).
In life, many grapple with discontentment, burdened by various concerns and life’s challenges. Often, their dissatisfaction stems from not having learnt the value and fulfilment of living unto Christ. Living unto Him means finding contentment and fulfilment in what pleases Him, and your displeasure is confined to that which also displeases Him.
In other words, your displeasure can only be a reflection of His displeasure, which means you’ll take nothing personally; you become impervious to personal offences. If you claim to be living unto the Lord, but still harbour hurt, offence, or anger, it raises the question of whether your desire to please the Lord is genuine.
It brings to mind the story in 1 Samuel 8:4-7; the elders of Israel approached the prophet Samuel at Ramah, expressing their desire for a king, to rule over them like other nations. Samuel, displeased by their request, prayed to the Lord. God responded, instructing Samuel to heed the people’s voice, clarifying that their request was a rejection of Him as their King, rather than a rejection of Samuel.
The prophet Samuel felt personally offended, but God corrected and taught him a great lesson about being impervious to hurts, as it was about Him, not Samuel. Living for The Lord involves transcending personal feelings and aligning yourself with His divine will.
CONFESSION
Dear Father, I choose to live unto you and please you at all times, full of love towards others. I align my desires with your divine will, and my joy and satisfaction come from pleasing you, living for you, and fulfilling my purpose in Christ. Amen.
