Attaining Spiritual Maturity

“자녀들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희 죄가 그의 이름으로 말미암아 사함을 받았음이요 아비들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희가 태초부터 계신 이를 알았음이요 청년들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희가 악한 자를 이기었음이라”(요일 2:12-13)

오늘의 본문 구절에서 사도 요한은 하나님의 백성들을 세 부류로 나눕니다. 첫째로 어린 자녀들, 그리고 청년들, 마지막으로 아버지들입니다. 이 구절에 나오는 “아버지들”은 남성 부모를 말하는 것이 아니라 그리스도 안에서 영적 성숙함에 이른 사람들을 가리킵니다. 그들은 다른 사람들을 양육하는 자들이며 말씀을 통해 하나님을 경험할 만큼 오랫동안 주님 안에 있던 자들입니다.

그들은 영적으로 어른이 된 사람들입니다. 그들 안에서 주님의 말씀이 성취됩니다. 이런 사람들은 성령을 통해 다양한 사안에 대한 하나님의 마음을 알고 이해하며 그분의 의를 세울 수 있습니다.

성경을 공부하고 묵상하며, 하나님의 말씀을 알고, 날마다 말씀을 따라 살기만 한다면 영적 성숙함에 도달할 수 있습니다. 바울은 디모데후서 2:15에서 이렇게 권면했습니다. “너는 공부하고, 열망하며, 최선을 다하여 진리의 말씀을 옳게 분별하며 [올바르고 능숙하게 가르치는] 부끄러울 것이 없는 일꾼으로 하나님께 인정받는(시험받는) 사람이 되기를 힘쓰라”(AMPC). 또한 예수님은 요한복음 5:39에서 말씀하셨습니다. “성경을 상고하라…”(한글킹제임스)

성경은 당신을 성숙함에 이르게 할 수 있습니다. “지금 내가 여러분을 주와 및 그 은혜의 말씀에 부탁하노니 그 말씀이 여러분을 능히 든든히 세우사 거룩하게 하심을 입은 모든 자 가운데 기업이 있게 하시리라”(행 20:32). 말씀이 당신의 생명입니다. 그러므로 말씀이 당신을 세우고 양육하도록 말씀에 자신을 내어드리십시오. 베드로전서 2:2은 말합니다. “갓난 아기들로서 순수한 말씀의 젖을 사모하라. 이는 너희가 그것으로 인하여 자라게 하려 함이니라.”(한글킹제임스) 말씀은 우리의 삶을 영, 혼, 육 모두에서 변화시키고 세우는 유일한 재료입니다.

사랑하는 아버지, 나의 심령은 당신의 말씀을 받아들이고 말씀에 따라 살도록 열려 있습니다. 나는 영광에서 영광으로 변모되며, 내 삶을 향한 당신의 운명과 계획을 성취하는 자가 됩니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

ATTAINING SPIRITUAL MATURITY

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one… (1 John 2:12-13).

The Apostle John, in the opening text, addresses three classes of God’s people: first, the little children, then the young men, and finally, the fathers. “Fathers” in this context isn’t referring to a male parent, but to those who have attained spiritual maturity in Christ; those who have raised others and have been in the Lord long enough to have the experience of God through the Word. It refers to those who have come to spiritual manhood. In them, the Word of the Lord is fulfilled. Through the Holy Spirit, these ones are able to understand and interpret the mind of God on wide variety of issues and establish His righteousness.

Attaining to this level of spiritual maturity is simply by giving yourself to the Scriptures in study and meditation, knowing God’s Word and living by it every day. In 2 Timothy 2:15 AMPC, Paul admonished: “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.” Also, Jesus said in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures….”

The Scriptures have the capacity to build you unto maturity: “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts 20:32). The Word is your life; therefore, yield yourself to the Word to build and nourish you. The Bible says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). The Word is the only ingredient that can transform and build our lives on all three levels: spirit, soul and body.

PRAYER

Dear Father, my heart is opened to receive your Word and live by it today. I’m transformed from glory to glory, and positioned to fulfill your destiny and plan for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Active Word From God

“기록되었으되 사람이 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니요, 하나님의 모든 말씀으로 사느니라.”(눅 4:4, 한글킹제임스)

오늘의 본문 구절은 사탄의 유혹에 대한 주님의 반응이며, 이는 말씀을 어떻게 사용해야 하는지에 대한 가장 놀라운 통찰력을 줍니다. 여기서 예수님이 실제로 말씀하신 바는 사람이 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니라 하나님의 모든 말씀(레마)로 산다는 것입니다. 그분은 하나님의 로고스 즉 전체 성경말씀을 언급하신 것이 아닙니다. 로고스(Logos)는 하나님의 생각, 성품, 계획, 목적을 표현하는 계시된 하나님의 말씀입니다. 그러나 “레마(rhema)”는 특정한 사람에게, 특정한 목적을 위해, 특정한 시기에 역사하는 하나님의 말씀입니다.

성경에 어떤 내용이 기록되어 있어도 당신이 그 말씀을 모르거나 자신의 것으로 만들지 못했다면 그 말씀에 따라 살 수 없을 것입니다.

성경에 기록된 말씀은 하나님의 로고스이며 진리의 전체입니다. 그러나 당신은 “지금” 당신의 삶에 주어진 로고스 혹은 하나님의 영이 당신을 위해 사역하고 있는 말씀으로 살아갑니다.

이것이 바로 예언이 중요한 이유입니다. 당신이 예언적인 말씀을 받을 때, 그 말씀이 지금 당신에게 필요한 전부이므로 그 말씀은 당신에게 축복이 됩니다. 예를 들어, 당신이 위태로운 상황에 있을 때 불현듯 “… 내가 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라…”(마 28:20)고 하시는 주님의 말씀을 받을 수도 있습니다.

그 말씀은 오래 전에 성경에 기록된 말씀이지만, 하나님의 영이 당신의 삶에 일어난 특정 상황을 위해 주신 것이므로 그 말씀은 당신에게 “레마”가 됩니다. 순간적으로 그러한 말씀이 당신에게 주어질 때, 당신을 향한 하나님의 약속을 다시금 확언하십시오. 그분은 당신과 함께 하시므로 당신은 이길 것입니다. 당신은 힘을 얻고, 강해지며, 승리하도록 고무됩니다! 할렐루야!

기도

THE ACTIVE WORD FROM GOD

…It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4).

The verse above is the Master’s response to one of Satan’s temptations, and it gives a most remarkable insight on how to use the Word. What Jesus actually said is that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word (rhema in Greek) of God. He wasn’t referring to the Logos of God, which is the whole body of truth; the revealed Word of God that expresses His thoughts, character, plans, purposes and personality. But “rhema,” on the other hand, is the spoken and active Word from God to a specific person, for a specific purpose, at a specific time.

Even though something is written in the Scripture, you may not be able to live by it if you don’t know it or if you don’t personalise it, being addressed to you. What you have in Scripture is the Logos of God, the entire body of truth, but you live by every word of that Logos that’s addressed to you in the “now” of your life, or every word that the Spirit of God ministers to you for you.

This is the reason prophecy is important. When you receive a prophetic word, it blesses you because it’s what you need for the moment. For example, you may be in a precarious situation and suddenly, you receive a word from the Lord saying, “…lo, I am with you always…” (Matthew 28:20).

Now, those words were written in the Scriptures long ago, but it becomes “rhema” when the Spirit of God brings it to you in the now of your life in whatever situation you’re in. As brief as those words are, they’re loaded, and reaffirm God’s commitment to you. He’s with you, and for that reason, you have it made; you’re energized, strengthened and inspired to win! Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your spoken and active word that comes to me through your Spirit as I study and meditate on the divine truths in the Scriptures. Your Word puts me over and above all situations and causes me to excel in everything, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

당신의 생일 날, 당신이 가장 좋아하는 부유하고 인심 좋은 삼촌으로부터 전화가 와서 생일선물로 차를 사주겠다는 말을 들었다고 가정해봅시다. 아직 차를 보지는 못했을지라도 당신은 삼촌의 말을 믿고 즉시 신날 것입니다. 그것이 믿음입니다. 믿음은 물리적 증거를 필요로 하지 않습니다.

당신이 믿고 기뻐하는 이유는 당신이 삼촌의 성품을 신뢰하기 때문입니다. 그렇지 않다면 당신은 삼촌이 한 말에 대해 의심을 표현할 것입니다. 마찬가지로 당신이 하나님의 말씀의 진실성에 근거하여 생각하고 말하고 행동한다면, 그것은 당신의 믿음을 표현하는 것이고 놀라운 결과를 얻게 될 것입니다.

어떤 사람은 하나님께서 자신의 치유와 번영과 회복에 대한 구체적인 말씀을 주셨지만, 아직 그 말씀이 이루어졌다는 증거를 보지 못했다고 한탄합니다. 사실 그의 말은 불신앙을 나타내고 있는 것입니다. 하나님의 말씀 외에 당신의 축복과 승리에 관한 증거가 또 있겠습니까?

하나님의 말씀에 완전히 설득되십시오. 하나님이 당신의 소유라고 말씀하신 것을 갖기 전에 어떠한 물리적 증거를 기다리지 마십시오. 당신의 믿음이 증거입니다. 믿음은 말씀에 의해 선포된 것을 사실로 인식하기 때문입니다.

FAITH DOESN’T REQUIRE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

Assume it was your birthday, and your favourite uncle, rich and generous, called you on the phone to tell you he just bought you a car. You’d believe him and immediately get excited, even though you hadn’t seen the car. That’s faith; it doesn’t require physical evidence.

The reason you believe and rejoice is that you trust your uncle’s character; otherwise, you’d express doubt upon receiving the news. Similarly, when you think, talk and act based on the integrity of God’s Word, you’re expressing faith, and you’re bound to have extraordinary results.

Someone once lamented how God gave him a specific word about his healing, prosperity and restoration, yet he claimed he didn’t see evidence that the Word came to pass in his life. His language actually manifested unbelief. What other evidence is there concerning your blessings and triumphant life besides the Word of God?

Become fully persuaded by the Word of God. Don’t wait for any physical manifestation before you take what God says is yours. Accept His Word and live accordingly. Your faith is the manifestation, for faith perceives as fact that which has been declared by the Word.

CONFESSION

My faith is active and prevails even now! I anchor my life on God’s Word, and refuse to be swayed by contrary winds or circumstances, for my faith is the title-deed to unseen realities. I walk in the light of my inheritance in Christ, in power and grace, living in divine health and supernatural prosperity. I’m victorious evermore, because I live in and by the Word. Amen.

When His Words Are At Home In You

“너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라”(요 15:7)

웨스트(Wuest) 번역본은 요한복음 15:7에 나오는 예수님의 말씀이 약속보다 지시에 가깝다는 것을 보여줍니다. 그분은 당신의 심령이 갈망하는 바를 구하라고 지시하십니다. “네가 나와 살아있는 교제를 지속하고 내 말이 네 안에 거하면, 너의 심령이 갈망하는 것은 무엇이든지, 즉시, 너를 위해 구할 것을 지시한다. 그러면 그것은 너의 것이 될 것이다.”

WHEN HIS WORDS ARE AT HOME IN YOU

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7 ESV).

The Wuest translation helps us see that Jesus’ remark in John 15:7 is more of an instruction than a promissory note. He’s commanding you to ask whatever your heart desires. It says, “If you maintain a living communion with me and my words are at home in you, I command you to ask, at once, something for yourself, whatever your heart desires, and it will become yours.”

Can you trust His Word? Yes, you can! Faith is about acting on the integrity of God’s Word. In these challenging times, you can rely on the Word of God. He said, “If you abide in me, and my words are in you, ask what you want, and it shall be done for you.” The Complete Jewish Bible puts it this way: “If you remain united with me, and my words with you, then ask whatever you want, and it will happen for you.”

All that’s required is for you to abide in Him and for His words to be resident in you. Are the words of Christ at home in you? Or do you set them aside? When His words are at home in you, it’s blessings all the way; victories only; success unlimited.

Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly….” When the Word is in you and abides, your faith is built strong; then you’re positioned to make a demand and create the kind of life you want, irrespective of circumstances.

PRAYER

Thank you, precious Father, for your Word to me today! The words of Christ dwell in me richly, and are at home in me. I trust the Word wholeheartedly, and I refuse to be distracted by contrary information or circumstances. Therefore, victory, success, prosperity and divine health are evident in my life because I’ve given myself wholly to the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

여호수아는 신성한 계시를 통해 승리한 성경 인물 중 한 명입니다. 그가 중요한 전투에서 이스라엘을 이끌기 위해 준비하고 있었을 때, 주님의 천사가 그에게 나타나 적을 물리칠 전략을 알려주었습니다.

여리고는 외부 침략을 막기 위해 요새화된 도시였음에도 불구하고, 당시 여호수아에게 주어진 하나님의 말씀은 그에게 승리를 보장했습니다. “너희 모든 군사는 그 성을 둘러 성 주위를 매일 한 번씩 돌되 엿새 동안을 그리하라 제사장 일곱은 일곱 양각 나팔을 잡고 언약궤 앞에서 나아갈 것이요 일곱째 날에는 그 성을 일곱 번 돌며… 그 나팔 소리가 너희에게 들릴 때에는 백성은 다 큰 소리로 외쳐 부를 것이라 그리하면 그 성벽이 무너져 내리리니 백성은 각기 앞으로 올라갈지니라”(수 6:3-5).

여리고 성벽은 보통 성벽이 아니었고 거대한 방어벽이었습니다. 그러나 주님이 지시하신 대로 이스라엘 백성들이 크게 소리치자 여리고 성벽은 무너졌습니다. (여호수아 6장을 읽어보십시오.)

그날을 제외하고는 인류 역사상 사람들이 소리쳐서 성벽이 무너진 경우가 한 번도 없었습니다. 저는 이스라엘 백성들이 소리쳤을 때 모든 사람이 성벽을 무너뜨리게 하는 소리 코드를 풀어놓았다고 믿습니다. 바로 말의 힘입니다! 바른 말 혹은 소리가 풀어지면 물리적인 장벽이 무너질 뿐 아니라 재정적인 장벽과 같은 다양한 종류의 장벽들이 제거될 수 있습니다.

당신은 재정적인 어려움에 처해있을 수도 있습니다. 재정이 묶여 상황이 극도로 힘들 수도 있습니다. 그렇다면 지금이 그 상황에 대한 하나님의 말씀을 붙잡고, 그 말씀을 풀어놓을 때입니다. 변화가 있을 때까지 계속해서 말씀을 말하십시오. 여호수아에게 여리고를 정복할 전략을 주신 성령님께서 당신에게 그분의 말씀을 주셨습니다. 그분은 고린도전서 3:21에서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “만물이 다 너희 것임이라.” 로마서 8:17에서는 당신이 하나님의 상속자이자 그리스도와 함께 한 공동상속자라고 말씀하셨습니다.

말씀 묵상을 통해 당신의 심령과 입에 그분의 말씀을 두십시오. 당신이 다루고 있는 상황이 무너질 때까지 계속해서 말씀을 숙고하고, 중얼거리고, 큰 소리로 외치십시오. 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 당신은 모든 위기에 대한 탈출구를 알고 계시기에 끔찍한 일이 벌어진다 할지라도 당황하지 않으십니다. 나는 항상 당신의 대단한 전략을 확신합니다. 내가 당신의 말씀의 빛 가운데 살아갈 때 나의 삶, 사역, 가족, 사업은 날마다 점점 더 넘치도록 번성하며, 전진하고, 위대해집니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

VICTORY IN YOUR MOUTH

Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour (Joshua 6:1-2).

Joshua was one of such characters in the Bible who was guided to victory by divine revelation. As he prepared to lead Israel in one of her defining battles, the angel of the Lord appeared to him and gave him the strategy by which he should defeat the enemy. Even though the city, Jericho, was greatly fortified against aggression, God’s Word to him at that moment assured him of victory. The Holy Spirit gave Joshua the winning strategy. He said, “And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, …and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him” (Joshua 6:3-5).

Those walls weren’t ordinary walls; they were fortifications of massive proportions. However, when the Israelites shouted according to the Lord’s instruction, the walls came crumbling down (Read Joshua 6).

Aside that day, never in the history of mankind has it ever happened that people shouted and great walls fell down flat. I believe that when they shouted, every one of them released a sound code that caused the walls to come down: the energy of words! If releasing the right words or sound could bring down physical barriers, it’ll also remove financial barriers or any other kind of barrier.

Perhaps you’re in a financial strait; no money is coming in and none is going out; things are extremely hard. It’s time for you to get a hold of God’s Word for that situation and release it. Keep speaking until there’s a change. The same Holy Spirit that gave Joshua the strategy to take Jericho has given you His Word. He said in 1 Corinthians 3:21, “…all things are yours.” In Romans 8:17, He said you’re an heir of God, and a joint-heir with Christ.

Keep His Word in your heart and in your mouth in meditation. Keep pondering, muttering and shouting the Word until the situation you’re dealing with crumbles before you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, it makes no difference how dire things get, you’re never confused; you know the way out of every crisis. I’m confident of your extraordinary strategies all the time. Operating The God-Kind Of Faith

“… 하나님은 죽은 자를 살리시며 없는 것을 있는 것으로 부르시는 이시니라”(롬 4:17)

믿음은 우리가 하나님의 왕국에서 살아가는 원리입니다. 성경은 말합니다. “의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라”(롬 1:17). 그리고 우리가 받은 믿음은 하나님과 같은 믿음입니다. 당신은 하나님이 성경에서 행하신 것처럼 믿음을 적용하여 똑같은 결과를 얻는 것을 보장받을 수 있습니다. 성경은 하나님이 믿음으로 우주와 세상을 지으셨다고 말합니다(히 11:3).

예수님이 마가복음 11:22에서 “하나님을 믿으라”고 말씀하신 것은 당연합니다. 다른 번역본들은 “하나님의 믿음을 가지라” 혹은 “하나님과 같은 종류의 믿음”이라고 말합니다. 즉 이것은 하나님이 사용하시는 초자연적인 믿음입니다. 오늘의 본문 구절은 하나님은 없는 것을 있는 것으로 부르신다고 말합니다. 보이지 않는 것을 보는 것입니다. 당신은 선포하는 말로써 감각으로 인식할 수 없는 것들에 물리적인 실체를 가져 옵니다.

당신이 원하지 않지만 이미 존재하는 것들은 어떻게 합니까? 성경은 말합니다. “하나님께서 세상의 천한 것들과 멸시받는 것들을 선택하신 것은 없는 것들로 있는 것들을 쓸모없게 만들려 하심이라.”(고전 1:28, 한글킹제임스) 그분은 우리가 “없는 것들로 있는 것들을 쓸모없게 만든다”고 하십니다. 얼마나 대단한 원리입니까!

“없는 것(nought)”이라는 단어는 그리스어 “카타르게오(katargeo)”에서 유래되었으며, ‘공허하게 만들다, 무의미하게 만들다, 효과가 없게 하다, 죽이다’라는 뜻입니다. 당신은 말 즉 믿음의 선포로 이것을 할 수 있습니다. 당신은 말로 이미 존재하는 것들을 파괴하거나 없앨 수 있습니다. 기억하십시오. 당신은 없는 것을 있는 것으로 부를 수 있습니다. 할렐루야!

하나님의 자녀는 불이익을 당할 수 없습니다. 당신이 오늘 어떤 상황을 마주하든지 그곳에는 탈출구가 있습니다. 승리는 당신의 입에 달려있습니다. 상황을 보지 마십시오. 상황은 변해야 하는 대상이기 때문입니다. 보이지 않는 당신의 승리를 보십시오. 하나님의 말씀이 보여주는 그림을 보십시오. 말씀이 당신에게 말하는 바를 보고 말씀을 굳게 지키십시오.

상황이나 환경이 끔찍할수록 말씀을 더 많이 고백하고 당신이 예수 이름 안에서 승리한다고 선포하십시오! 예수 이름은 실패할 수 없습니다! 그 이름을 사용하십시오. 그러면 당신은 항상 승리할 것입니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

OPERATING THE GOD KIND OF FAITH

… even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were (Romans 4:17).

Faith is a principle by which we live in the Kingdom of God. The Bible says, “…the just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17). And the faith we’ve been given is the God-kind of faith. You can apply it as God did throughout the Scriptures and be guaranteed the same results. The Bible says by faith, He framed the cosmos, the worlds (Hebrews 11:3).

No wonder Jesus averred in Mark 11:22, “…Have faith in God.” Several translations read “Have the faith of God” or “the God-kind of faith”?the supernatural faith that God operates. We read about it in our opening verse: He calls things that are not as though they were; seeing the unseen. By the spoken word, you bring into physical manifestation things which are not perceptible to the senses.

What about things that are already there that you don’t want? The Bible says, “And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are” (1 Corinthians 1:28). He says we use “things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.” What a principle!

The word “nought” is from “katarge?” (Greek), meaning to make void, bring to nought or nothing, to make or become of no (none, without) effect; to decimate. This you can achieve with your words?your faith proclamations. With words, you can destroy or decimate things which are. Remember, you can call things that are not, as though they were. Hallelujah!

There’s no disadvantage to the child of God. Whatever the situation you’re facing today, there’s a way out. The victory is in your mouth. Don’t look at the circumstances, for they’re subject to change. Look at the unseen?your victory?the picture the Word of God projects. Look at what the Word is telling you, and stick to the Word.

The more dire the situation or circumstance is, the more you affirm the Word and proclaim that you’re victorious in the Name of Jesus! The Name of Jesus can’t be overthrown. Use it, and you’ll always win.

The Proof Of His Love

“우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라”(롬 5:8)

우리가 “하나님은 당신을 사랑하십니다”고 말할 때, 많은 사람들은 이것이 모든 사람을 향한 하나님의 사랑을 표현하는 말이라고 생각합니다. 맞습니다. 그분은 진정 모든 사람을 사랑하십니다. 그러나 그분은 당신을 이 땅에 하나뿐인 존재로 여기십니다. 우리 모두는 하나님께 유일무이하게 귀한 존재입니다. 우리는 그분께 예수님만큼 귀합니다. 이것은 우리가 제대로 이해하기에는 너무나 엄청난 진리이므로 우리는 하나님의 말씀에 대한 이해와 성령님의 생각이 필요합니다.

THE PROOF OF HIS LOVE

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

When we say, “God loves you,” many think it’s just a generic communication about God’s love for everyone. Yes, He does love everyone, but He thinks of, and relates to you like you’re the only one on the face of the earth. Each one of us is uniquely valuable to God; as valuable to Him as Jesus is. This is so huge a truth that it takes understanding the Word of God and the thinking of the Spirit to accept it.

God proved His love for you with the price He paid: the life of Jesus. The Bible says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). If you were the only one on earth that needed salvation, Jesus would have still come to die for you. He didn’t come because we were many.

Luke 15:7 says, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” If that’s the truth as it is, I want you to think what it means to the Father for anyone to go to hell. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

He wants everyone to know, embrace, and walk in the truth of His love. He’s entrusted us with the message of His love, to share it with the whole world. Remember, He saves you and makes you His partner in saving others?a soul winner. Therefore, make this Easter count for someone in your world who hasn’t yet known the Lord. The responsibility is on you to reach those in your sphere of influence with the news of Christ’s love and saving power.

Think about what the apostles of Christ did for us regarding this glorious Gospel; they gave everything and even their lives because they thought it was worth that much. They wanted to make sure that the Gospel went to others, until it got to us.

Let it be your ultimate passion, joy, love and pride to give of your finances, time and energy for the spread of the Gospel around the world. It’s such a great honour and privilege to be a part of something so sublime and so divine.

PRAYER

Dear Father, what a blessing it is to know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that I was saved, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. I go all out with the Gospel, and see others through your eyes of kindness and love, reaching out to them with the good news of salvation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Be Conditioned To Your Divine Nature

“너희는 아직도 육신에 속한 자로다 너희 가운데 시기와 분쟁이 있으니 어찌 육신에 속하여 사람을 따라 행함이 아니리요”(고전 3:3)

거듭나지 않은 주변 사람들이 보기에는 거듭난 당신에게 겉으로 아무런 변화가 없어 보일 수도 있지만, 진정한 변화는 당신의 영 안에서 일어났습니다. 당신은 실제로, 문자 그대로 신성하게 태어났습니다. 하나님의 생명과 본성으로 새롭게 태어났습니다. 당신은 경건할 뿐 아니라 하나님과 같은 종류입니다.

하지만 많은 사람들은 이 사실을 모르기 때문에 “우리는 다 똑같은 사람일 뿐이야.”라고 말합니다. 그렇지 않습니다. 당신이 거듭나기 전에는 그랬습니다. 그러나 사람인 “당신”은 죽었고, 새로운 당신이 하나님으로부터 태어났습니다. 이는 요한이 “자녀들아 너희는 하나님께 속하였고 또 그들을 이기었나니 이는 너희 안에 계신 이가 세상에 있는 자보다 크심이라”(요일 4:4)고 말했을 때 그가 의미한 바입니다. 즉 당신이 하나님으로부터 태어났으므로 당신의 생명은 신성한 생명이라는 뜻입니다.

하나님은 당신이 신성한 본성으로 훈련되기를 원하십니다. 이것이 당신의 마음을 새롭게 하는 목적입니다. 로마서 12:2은 말합니다. “너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아…”

그러나 당신은 사도행전에서 베드로가 고넬료에게 자신이 사람이라고 말한 것과, 또한 루가오니아의 사람들이 바울이 행한 표적과 기적 때문에 그를 경배하려고 하자 바울이 “우리도 여러분과 같은 성정을 가진 사람이라”(행 14:15)고 말한 경우를 언급할 수도 있습니다.

당신은 사도들이 당시에 복음의 신비를 완전히 이해한 상태가 아니었다는 것을 이해해야 합니다. 그들이 온전히 이해했다면 다른 단어를 사용했을 것입니다. 생각해 보십시오. 예수님은 그런 식으로 말씀하신 적이 한 번도 없으십니다. 그분은 “나는 위에서 났으며 너희는 이 세상에 속하였고 나는 이 세상에 속하지 아니하였느니라”(요 8:23)고 말씀하셨습니다.

BE CONDITIONED TO YOUR DIVINE NATURE

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (1 Corinthians 3:3).

If you’re born again, even though outwardly you may look like your next-door neighbour who isn’t born again, a real transformation took place in your spirit. You were actually, literally, born divine?born anew with the life and nature of God. Not only are you godly, you’re God-like.

But because many don’t know this, they say, “We’re all humans.” No, we’re not; that’s what you were before you were reborn. The human “you” died, and a new you came from God. That’s what John meant when He said, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4); it means you hail from God; your life is divine.

What God expects is that you become conditioned to your divine nature. It’s the purpose for the renewing of your mind: Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind….”

You may say, “But in the Book of Acts, Peter told Cornelius that he himself was a man.” You may also refer to the occasion where the people at the cities of Lycaonia almost worshipped Paul because of the signs and wonders he had performed, and he told them, “…

We also are men of like passions with you…” (Acts 14:15).

But here’s what you must understand: the apostles, at this time, hadn’t fully understood the mystery of the Gospel. Otherwise, they’d have communicated differently. Think about it: Jesus never talked like that. He said, “…I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23).

When it dawned on Paul through revelation of the Spirit that he was the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, he expressed it differently. He said the Christian is “a new creature”?a new type of man (2 Corinthians 5:17). The same Peter also graduated to a higher class and in His epistle, he called the Christian “partaker of the divine nature”; associate of the God-kind.

Psalm 82:6 says, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” If you talk and live as a man, you’ll suffer the things men suffer. Become conscious of your divine nature and practise the divine life.

CONFESSION

Through meditation on the Word, I’ve become conditioned to my divine nature. I have “Kingdom sight,” and Kingdom perception. I think, talk, and live as an associate of the God-kind. Glory to God!

The Word, Prayer And Worship

“우리는 오로지 기도하는 일과 말씀 사역에 힘쓰리라 하니”(행 6:4)

하나님에 관해 당신이 가장 먼저 이해해야 할 것은 그분이 당신에게 하시는 말씀입니다(말씀). 두 번째는 당신이 그분께 말씀드릴 수 있는 특권입니다(기도). 세 번째는 제물과 제사의 형태로 드리는 당신의 경배입니다(히 13:15). 이 세 가지는 우리와 주님과의 관계의 핵심입니다.

사람은 영이고, 그 사람의 영은 하나님의 영으로부터 왔으며, 하나님의 말씀에 의해 창조되었습니다. “너희가 거듭난 것은 썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니요 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것이니 살아 있고 항상 있는 하나님의 말씀으로 되었느니라”(벧전 1:23). 그러므로 말씀으로 거듭난 당신은 참된 삶을 살기 위해 반드시 지속적으로 말씀을 먹어야 합니다. 베드로전서 2:2은 말합니다. “갓난 아기들로서 순수한 말씀의 젖을 사모하라. 이는 너희가 그것으로 인하여 자라게 하려 함이니라”(한글킹제임스). 주 예수님은 누가복음 4:4에서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “기록되었으되 사람이 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니요, 하나님의 모든 말씀으로 사느니라”(한글킹제임스).

아버지는 항상 말씀하십니다. 그분은 항상 당신의 영과 소통하시며 그분의 생각을 당신과 나누십니다. 따라서 당신이 기도할 때 무슨 말을 하는지 만이 아니라, 하나님의 영이 당신에게 사역하실 수 있도록 기회를 드리는 것이 중요합니다.

또한 우리는 경배 가운데 양질의 시간을 가집니다. 이는 주님께 찬양과 경배의 노래를 드리는 것입니다. 우리가 주님을 경배할 때 그분의 영과 우리의 영이 섞이게 되고, 주님의 임재의 축복과 영광 가운데 도취되어 신성한 황홀감을 경험하게 됩니다.

주 예수님은 요한복음 4:23에서 영과 진리로 드리는 참된 경배에 대해 설명하십니다. 이는 당신이 하나님의 말씀에 따라 당신의 영으로 아버지께 경배 드려야 한다는 의미입니다. 그러므로 참된 경배는 말씀에 계시된 그분의 성품과 본질에 근거하여 그분의 이름을 고백하는 것을 수반합니다. 할렐루야!

기도

하늘에 계신 아버지, 말씀으로 길러지고 양육되고 세워지는 축복에 감사드립니다. 또한 기도를 통해 당신과 지속적으로 교제할 수 있는 기회를 주셔서 감사합니다. 지금도 저는 제 삶 가운데 있는 당신의 은혜와 영광을 인식하며 당신의 위엄을 경배하고 찬양합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE WORD, PRAYER AND WORSHIP

But we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4 AMPC).

In relating with God, the first thing you need to understand is what He has to say to you (the Word). Secondly, what He gives you the privilege to say to Him (prayer). Third is your worship, which is also in the form of sacrifices and offerings (Hebrews 13:15). These three are central in our relationship with the Lord.

Man is a spirit, and the spirit of man came from God’s Spirit, and was created by the Word of God:“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). Being born of the Word, you must, therefore, continually feed on God’s Word to truly live. 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” The Lord Jesus said in Luke 4:4, “…It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

The Father always speaks; He’s always in communication with your spirit, sharing His thoughts with you. So, it’s not just the words that you say during the times of prayer that matter, but the opportunity it provides for the Spirit of God to minister to you as you minister to Him.

We also give quality time to worship, that is, to sing unto the Lord in praise, and adoration. When we worship the Lord, it’s a mingling of spirits; a moment of divine ecstasy, where you’re enraptured in the bliss and glory of His presence.

The Lord Jesus, in John 4:23, outlines true worship as that which is done in spirit and in truth; meaning that you’re to worship the Father from your spirit and according to His Word. Thus, it involves making confessions to His Name on the basis of who He is, in line with the revelation of His personality in the Word.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the blessedness of being cultured, nurtured and built up by the Word, and also for the opportunity of continuous fellowship with you through prayer. Even now, I worship you and praise your majesty, acknowledging your grace and glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

메시아가 오시기 전에 엘리야가 먼저 올 것이라고 예언되었습니다(말 4:5-6). 서기관들은 이 예언을 예수님이 메시아가 아니라는 증거로 사용했습니다. 그러나 제자들은 변화산에서 예수님이 엘리야와 이야기하는 것을 눈으로 직접 보았고(마 17:1-3 참고), 예수님께 이렇게 여쭤보았습니다. “그러면 어찌하여 서기관들이 엘리야가 먼저 와야 하리라 하나이까?”

놀랍게도 예수님은 엘리야가 메시아보다 먼저 와야 한다고 주장한 서기관들의 말을 확증해 주셨습니다. 그분은 말씀하셨습니다. “엘리야가 과연 먼저 와서 모든 일을 회복하리라 내가 너희에게 말하노니 엘리야가 이미 왔으되 사람들이 알지 못하고 임의로 대우하였도다 인자도 이와 같이 그들에게 고난을 받으리라 하시니”(마 17:11-12). 성경은 말합니다. “그제서야 제자들이 예수께서 말씀하신 것이 세례 요한인 줄을 깨달으니라”(마 17:13). 엘리야는 이미 왔었지만, 사람들은 그것을 알지 못했습니다. 그들이 육신의 눈으로 보고 있었기 때문입니다!

오늘날에도 많은 그리스도인들이 그런 식으로 자신을 봅니다. 그들은 하나님 안에서 자신이 되기 원하는 것과 소유하기 원하는 것들에 대해 꿈꾸고 기도하고 분투하지만, 이미 그들은 그것들을 소유하고 있습니다. 다만 그 사실을 모를 뿐입니다. 이것이 바로 당신이 말씀을 알아야 하는 이유입니다. 말씀을 아는 지식을 통해 당신은 그리스도 안에서 자신의 정체성과 유업을 깨닫게 됩니다.

당신 안에 계신 그리스도보다 더 위대하고 좋은 것은 없습니다. 주께서 그러하심과 같이 우리도 그러하다는 것을 온전히 깨달아야 합니다(요일 4:17). 당신은 하나님의 의이며 그분의 본성인 선함, 친절, 사랑, 겸손, 탁월함과 일치하는 모든 완전한 것들의 표현입니다!

바로 이것이 오늘의 본문 구절에서 당신의 마음을 새롭게 하라고 권면하는 이유입니다. 오직 성령으로 쓰여진 성경을 통해서만, 하나님께서 당신을 그리스도 안에서 어떤 존재로 만드시고 무엇을 주셨는지 발견할 수 있기 때문입니다.

고백

하나님은 나에게 생명과 경건에 속한 모든 것을 주셨습니다. 나는 육신의 눈으로 보기를 거절합니다. 나는 분투하거나 조바심 내지 않습니다. 이제 복음의 모든 유업은 법적으로 그리고 실제적으로 나의 소유입니다! 나는 나의 유업과 복음의 완전한 축복 안에 삽니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

DISCOVER WHO YOU ARE IN HIM

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

Before the coming of the Messiah, it was prophesied that Elijah would come first (Malachi 4:5-6). The Scribes used this prophecy as evidence against the messiahship of Jesus. But the disciples, having seen Elijah with their own eyes talking with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (Read Matthew 17:1-3), asked Jesus, “…Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?” (Matthew 17:10).

To their surprise, Jesus confirmed the Scribes insistence that Elijah must come first before the Messiah. He said, “…Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them” (Matthew 17:11-12).

The Bible says, “Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist” (Matthew 17:13). Elijah already came, but they didn’t know it, because they were looking in the flesh!

There’re many Christians who are like that today. All they’re dreaming, praying, struggling to be and have in God, they already are, and already have, but they don’t know it. This is why you must know the Word. Through the knowledge of the Word, you’re enlightened as to your identity and heritage in Christ.

Nothing could be greater or better than Christ in you, and you in Christ. You’ve got to come to the full realization that as He is, so are you (1 John 4:17).

You’re His righteousness, the expression of all the perfect things that are consistent with His nature?His goodness, His kindness, His love, His humility, and excellence!

This is why our theme verse admonishes that you renew your mind, because it’s only through the Scriptures, by the Spirit, that you discover what God has already made you and granted you in Christ.

CONFESSION

Everything I require for life and godliness has been granted me by God. I refuse to look in the flesh. I don’t struggle, and I don’t fret. Every provision of the Gospel is both legally and vitally my possession NOW! I walk in my inheritance, in the full blessings of the Gospel, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
