Focus On Fulfilling His Dream
“이 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하지 말라 누구든지 세상을 사랑하면 아버지의 사랑이 그 안에 있지 아니하니 이는 세상에 있는 모든 것이 육신의 정욕과 안목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑이니 다 아버지께로부터 온 것이 아니요 세상으로부터 온 것이라”(요일 2:15-16)
주님의 재림이 그 어느 때보다 가깝다는 것에는 의심의 여지가 없습니다. 그러나 성경은 말합니다. “… 이는 먼저 배교하는 일이 이르지 않고서는 그날이 오지 아니함이라. 그리고 나서 죄의 사람 곧 멸망의 아들이 나타나리라”(살후 2:3, 한글킹제임스). 이 구절을 확대번역본은 이렇게 번역합니다. “… 배교가 먼저 일어나지 않는 한 [그리스도인이라고 공언한 사람들이 배교하는 일이 많이 일어나지 않는다면] 그날은 오지 않을 것이다. 그리고 나서 파멸(멸망)의 아들인 무법(죄)의 사람이 나타나리라.”
이는 그리스도인이라고 공언했음에도 신앙을 버리는 사람들이 있을 것이라는 뜻입니다. 자신의 선택으로 예수님에 대한 믿음을 포기하는 배교가 일어날 것입니다. 이 일은 이미 일어나고 있으며, 그 주된 이유는 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹과 기타 욕심 때문입니다. 그렇다면 하나님은 어떤 것을 보고 계시고, 당신은 이 마지막 때에 어떻게 행해야 합니까? 당신은 어떤 선택을 해야 합니까?
오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 내용이 하나님께서 권면하시는 바입니다. 그리스도 안에 머무십시오! 이 세상의 일시적인 즐거움이 아니라 왕국의 일들에 초점을 맞추십시오. 골로새서 3:1은 이 내용을 아름답게 표현합니다. “그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 다시 살리심을 받았으면 위의 것을 찾으라 거기는 그리스도께서 하나님 우편에 앉아 계시느니라.”
하나님의 꿈이자 그분의 비전인 왕국 확장과 세계 복음화를 이루는 일에 당신의 에너지를 집중하십시오. 자신의 개인적인 이득과 안위만을 신경 쓰며 세상의 것들에 매달리는 사람들처럼 되지 마십시오. 그들은 세상의 영에 정복되었습니다.
예수님은 “사람이 온 세상을 얻고도 자신의 영혼(soul)을 잃는다면 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?”(막 8:36)고 말씀하셨습니다. 당신이 그리스도 안에서 세워지고 깊게 뿌리 내린 삶을 사는 것은 매우 중요합니다. 굳건하게 서서 요동하지 말고 주님의 일을 기쁨으로 하십시오. 할렐루야!

사랑하는 아버지, 신성한 부르심으로 불러 주시고 당신을 위해 살도록 힘을 주셔서 감사드립니다. 나는 그리스도 안에 깊게 뿌리 내리고 있습니다. 나는 육신과 함께 정욕과 탐심을 십자가에 못 박았습니다. 나의 열정은 오직 당신의 왕국을 확장하고 그리스도의 사랑과 그분의 구원을 땅끝까지 전하는 것에 있습니다. 할렐루야!

FOCUS ON FULFILLING HIS DREAM
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (1 John 2:15-16).
There’s no doubt, the coming of the Lord is nearer than ever. But the Bible says, “…for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” (2 Thessalonians 2:3). The Amplified Classic puts it thus: “…for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition).”
This means there’d be people who had professed to be Christians, but they’ll fall away from the Faith; there’ll be an apostasy-people giving up their faith in Jesus, by choice. This is already happening, and the major reason is the cares of this world; the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust for other things. So, what’s God looking at, and how should you walk in these last days?
What choices should you make?
His counsel is what we read in our opening verse. Stay in Christ! Focus on the things of the Kingdom, and not on the transient pleasures of this world. Colossians 3:1 captures it beautifully. It says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”
Focus your energies on fulfilling God’s dream, His vision of Kingdom expansion and world evangelisation.
Refuse to be among those clinging to the things of the world, concerned only about their personal gain and comfort. They’ve been conquered by the spirit of the world. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). It’s so important that you live your life established in Christ, deeply rooted and founded in Him. Remain steadfast, unmoveable, doing the work of the Lord with joy. Hallelujah!

Dear Father, thank you for calling me with a holy calling, and for granting me the inner strength to live for you. I’m deeply rooted and grounded in Christ; I’ve crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.
My only passion is the expansion of your Kingdom, propagating Christ’s love and His salvation to the ends of the earth. Hallelujah!
