Supplanted, NOT Supplemented
“그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다”(고후 5:17)
거듭난 사람은 두 가지 생명 혹은 본성을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 그는 오직 한 생명만 가지고 있으며 그 생명은 신성한 생명입니다. 당신이 거듭났을 때, 새로운 생명이 당신의 영 안에 들어가게 되었고 당신이 이 땅의 부모로부터 받은 인간의 생명은 중단되었습니다. 그 생명은 하나님의 생명과 본성으로 대체되었습니다! 이는 연구실에서 발견할 수 있는 것이 아니라 영적인 것입니다.
또한 이러한 변화는 일부 사람들이 생각하는 것처럼 천국에서 일어나는 일이 아니라 이미 일어난 일입니다. 그것이 바로 그리스도께서 전하신 메시지입니다. 그분은 우리에게 신성한 생명을 주셔서 우리를 하나님의 자녀로 삼기 위해 오셨습니다. “…사랑하는 자들아 우리가 지금은 하나님의 자녀라 장래에 어떻게 될지는 아직 나타나지 아니하였으나 그가 나타나시면 우리가 그와 같을 줄을 아는 것은 그의 참모습 그대로 볼 것이기 때문이니”(요일 3:1-2) 고린도후서 5:17은 위의 말씀을 더욱 지지하고 있습니다. “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다”
“새로운 피조물”이라는 문구에 주목하십시오. 이 말은 그 전에는 알려지지 않았다는 의미입니다. 그것은 새롭거나 심지어 “특이한” 것입니다. 당신이 무언가를 슬쩍 봤지만 그게 실제로는 무엇인지 모를 때 당신이 그것에 대해 묘사할 수 있는 최선의 방식은 이렇습니다. “저는 어떤 생명체를 봤습니다. 그건 고양이도 아니고 개도 아닙니다. 그것이 무엇인지는 잘 모르겠습니다. 생명체는 맞는데 뭔가 특이합니다.” 이전에 본 것과는 전혀 다른 무언가입니다.
이것이 정확히 고린도후서 5:17에서 바울이 생각한 바입니다. 우리는 새로운 종족입니다. 이 전에 존재한 적이 없었던 생명체입니다. 새로운 종류의 인간입니다! 당신이 신성한 본성과 인간의 본성이 뒤섞인 존재가 아니라는 것을 깨닫고 이해하는 순간, 당신은 바르게 살기 위해 고군분투하는 일을 멈추고 안식의 위치에서 당신의 삶을 향한 그분의 뜻을 영광스럽게 성취하는 자신을 발견하게 될 것입니다. 할렐루야!
고백
사랑하는 아버지, 나의 옛 생명은 새로운 생명으로 완전히 대체되었음에 감사드립니다. 나의 새로운 생명은 자연인에게 영향을 미치는 아픔, 질병, 패배, 타락을 능가하는 생명입니다. 나의 신성한 본성은 세상의 부패한 시스템에 대한 통치권을 주며 내가 상황을 다스리는 자가 되게 합니다. 의의 본성이 나로 말미암아 오늘도 당신의 온전한 뜻 안에서 행하게 합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

SUPPLANTED, NOT SUPPLEMENTED
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The one who’s born again doesn’t have two lives or natures; he only has one, and that’s the divine life. When you were born again, a new life was introduced into your spirit, and the human life with which you were born of your earthly parents ceased to be; it was supplanted by the life and nature of God! It’s not something that can be figured out in the laboratory; it’s spiritual.
Moreover, this change isn’t one to take place in heaven, as some also think; it’s already happened. That’s the message of Christ. He came to give us the divine life; to make us sons of God: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2). Our theme verse further buttresses this; it says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Notice the phrase, “new creature”; it connotes something that’s not known; it’s new, or even “strange.” It’s like thinking you saw something sneak by, but couldn’t really make out what it was, and the best way you could describe it was to say, “I saw a creature; it’s neither a cat nor a dog; but I’m not sure what it is; it’s something strange.” It wasn’t like anything you’ve ever seen.
This is exactly Paul’s inference in 2 Corinthians 5:17. We’re a new species; a kind of creature that never existed before; a new type of man! When you come to this realization and understanding that what you have isn’t a mix of the divine and human natures, you’ll cease from the struggles to live right, and you’ll find yourself fulfilling God’s will for your life gloriously from a position of rest. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for my old life has been completely supplanted by the divine life, which is superior to sickness, disease, defeat and all depravities that affect the natural man. My divine nature has made me a master over circumstances, with dominion over the world’s deplorable systems. The nature of righteousness causes me to walk in your perfect will today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
