Refuse To Compromise

“너는 이것을 알라 말세에 고통하는 때가 이르러 사람들이 자기를 사랑하며 돈을 사랑하며 자랑하며 교만하며 비방하며 부모를 거역하며 감사하지 아니하며 거룩하지 아니하며 무정하며 원통함을 풀지 아니하며 모함하며 절제하지 못하며 사나우며 선한 것을 좋아하지 아니하며 배신하며 조급하며 자만하며 쾌락을 사랑하기를 하나님 사랑하는 것보다 더하며 경건의 모양은 있으나 경건의 능력은 부인하니 이같은 자들에게서 네가 돌아서라 (딤후3:1-5)

우리는 마지막 날에 있으며, 당신은 하나님의 말씀의 지식 안에서 걷는 법을 배워야 합니다. 우리는 성경이 말하는 “어렵거나 고통하는 때”의 시대에 살고 있습니다. 리빙 바이블은 오늘의 본문 구절을 다음과 같이 번역합니다. “디모데야, 말세에 그리스도인이 되는 것이 매우 어려울 것이라는 것을 너도 잘 알 것이다.”

왜 누군가에게는 그리스도인이 되는 것이 어려울까요? 이는 그들이 해야 하는 선택, 곧 많은 이들이 택하지 않는 선택들이 있기 때문입니다. 제가 말하는 선택들이란 진리와 의를 수호하는 것, 당신의 믿음을 타협하기를 거부하는 것, 편리한 것보다 말씀이 말하는 대로 행하며 말씀을 지키는 것들입니다.

돈과 세상적인 인정 때문에 타협하며 결정하는 사람들이 있습니다. 이에 따른 결과로 그들은 잘못된 일들을 합니다. 그리스도인의 행보와 맞지 않는 일을 합니다. 당신이 이렇게 되어서는 안 됩니다. 그것이 대중적인 의견이라는 이유로 선택하지 마십시오. 군중을 따르지 마십시오.

예수님께서 하신 말씀을 기억하십시오. “좁은 문으로 들어가라 멸망으로 인도하는 문은 크고 그 길이 넓어 그리로 들어가는 자가 많고 생명으로 인도하는 문은 좁고 길이 협착하여 찾는 자가 적음이라”(마7:13-14). 이 말씀은 매우 교훈적입니다.

하나님의 말씀에 대한 지식, 즉 하나님의 지혜가 당신의 선택과 결정을 인도하게 하십시오. 당신의 지역에서, 이웃들 사이에서, 학교에서 또는 직장에서 복음과 예수 그리스도를 위해 신념을 지키는 이가 당신 한 명이라도 상관없습니다. 그 선택과 결정을 지키십시오. 타협하지 마십시오. 오히려 “…견실하며 흔들리지 말고 항상 주의 일에 더욱 힘쓰는 자들이 되라 이는 너희 수고가 주 안에서 헛되지 않은 줄 앎이라”(고전15:58).

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 당신의 지혜는 당신의 교회 안에서 그리고 교회를 통해 점점 더 나타납니다. 당신의 말씀은 그 어느 때보다도 우리 마음 안에서 강건하게 자라고 있습니다. 우리는 당신의 뜻을 아는 지식에 있어 모든 지혜와 영적인 이해로 충만합니다. 나는 언제나 넘치도록 주의 일을 하며, 믿음에 강건하고, 하나님께 영광을 돌립니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

Refuse To Compromise

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”(2 Timothy 3:1-5).

We’re in the last days, and you have to learn to walk in the knowledge of God’s Word. We’re in what the Bible shows as “difficult or perilous times.” Here’s how the living Bible renders verse one of our opening scripture: “You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian” (2 Timothy 3:1 TLB).

Why is it going to be difficult for some? It’s because of the choices they have to make; unpopular choices. I’m talking about such choices as standing for truth and righteousness, refusing to compromise your faith, sticking to the Word—doing what the Word says—rather than what’s convenient.

There’re those who are going to compromise and make decisions because of money and earthly favours. As a result, they’ll do the wrong things; things that aren’t consistent with the Christian walk. That shouldn’t be you. Don’t make a decision in life because it’s popular opinion; never follow the crowd.

Remember what Jesus said: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). This is very instructive.

Let the knowledge of God’s Word—the wisdom of God—guide the choices and decisions you make. It makes no difference that you’re the only one taking a stand for Jesus Christ and for the Gospel in your estate, neighbourhood, school or place of work; keep at it. Refuse to compromise. Rather, remain, “…stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

PRAYER

Dear Father, your wisdom is manifested more and more in and through your Church, and your Word is growing strong in our hearts more than ever before. We are filled with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, always abounding in the work of the Lord, strong in faith, and giving glory to God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
