우리의 참된 목적
OUR TRUE PURPOSE
“사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 자기 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요”(막8:36)
오늘의 본문 구절은 곰곰이 생각해볼 만한 중요한 내용입니다. 그 누구도 예수님 없이는 참으로 세상을 “얻을” 수 없습니다. 세상이 예수님께 속했기 때문입니다. 예수님께서 세상을 소유하고 계십니다. 오늘날 당신이 어떤 부동산을 소유하고 있을지라도 수년 전 그 부동산은 다른 사람의 소유였습니다. 그 사람도 마찬가지로 그 사유지를 걸으며 “내가 무엇을 가지고 있는지 봐라.”고 말했을 것입니다.
저는 사람들에게 “지금 이집트의 파라오와 유럽의 황제들은 어디에 있습니까? 카이사르는 어디에 있습니까?” 라고 묻습니다. 그들은 오래전에 이 세상을 떠났습니다. 그들은 당시 세상을 제패하고 자신이 영원히 그 땅을 지배할 거라 생각했지만, 얼마 지나지 않아 세상을 떠났고 그 자리는 다른 사람이 차지했습니다.
자연적인 영역의 사람은 영원히 살기 위해 무엇이든 내줄 것입니다. 그러나 아무리 열심히 죽음을 피하는 방법을 찾아보아도 사람은 결국 원하든 원치 않든 이 세상을 떠나야 합니다.
예수님은 수확물이 너무 많아 저장고가 부족하자 기존의 창고를 허물고 새 창고를 지어야 했던 엄청난 부자에 대해 가르치셨습니다. 그 부자는 몇 년이고 쓸 수 있는 자원을 축적한 것에 대해 굉장히 신났습니다. 부자가 이렇게 생각하고 있을 때, 하나님께서 그의 방으로 들어오셔서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “어리석은 자여! 오늘 밤에 네 영혼을 도로 찾으리니 그러면 네 준비한 것이 누구의 것이 되겠느냐?”(눅12:20)
이 세상에서 당신의 삶의 목적은 무엇입니까? 당신은 왜 여기에 계십니까? 제가 당신에게 그 이유를 알려드리겠습니다. 바로 예수 그리스도의 복음이 땅끝까지 이르도록 하기 위함 입니다. “일어나 너의 발로 서라 내가 네게 나타난 것은 곧 네가 나를 본 일과 장차 내가 네게 나타날 일에 너로 종과 증인을 삼으려 함이니”(행26:16) 이것이 하나님께서 당신을 이 땅에 남겨두신 이유입니다. 그리고 이것이 당신의 열정이자, 당신을 신나게 하는 일이어야 합니다. 당신은 목사, 전도자, 교사, 선지자 또는 사도로 부름 받지 않았을 수 있습니다. 그러나 당신은 영혼구원자로 부름 받았습니다.
고백
나는 하나님의 대사이자 예수 그리스도의 복음의 증인입니다. 나는 이 땅의 영혼들을 구원하기 위해 하늘 왕국에서 보내졌습니다. 내 마음은 일상의 반복이 아닌 신성한 목적에 고정되어 있습니다. 나의 매일의 열정은 이 땅과 사람들의 마음에 하나님의 왕국을 세우는 것입니다. 그리고 나는 이것을 성령의 능력으로 합니다. 할렐루야!

OUR TRUE PURPOSE
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”(Mark 8:36).
Our opening verse is an important food for thought. No man can truly “gain” the world without Jesus because it belongs to Him. He owns the world. You may own a piece of property today, but many years ago, that same property belonged to someone else who must have walked through its length and breadth and said “Look, what I got.”
I ask people, “Where are the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Emperors of Europe? Where are the Caesars?” They’re long gone. Though they conquered the world at a point in their lives and thought they’d rule it forever, they had to leave it after a while, and someone else took over.
The natural man will give anything to live forever. But no matter how he tries to find a cure for death, he still has to answer the call whether or not he wants to.
Jesus taught about a rich man who had such a bountiful harvest that he needed to tear down his storehouses and build new ones to store his crops. He was excited to have laid up so much supplies for himself that could last for years. While he was thinking about this, God came into his room and said, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” (Luke 12:20 NIV).
What’s the purpose for your life in this world? Why are you here? I’ll tell you: It’s to make sure the Gospel of Jesus Christ goes to the ends of the earth. “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee” (Acts 26:16). This is the reason God left you here and it should be your passion. It should be what excites you. You may not be a Pastor, evangelist, teacher, prophet or Apostle, but you are called to be a soul- winner.
CONFESSION
I’m an ambassador of God and a witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I’ve been sent from the heavenly Kingdom for the salvation of souls in the earth. My heart is set on my divine purpose and not on the mundanities of life. My daily passion is to establish the Kingdom of God in the earth and in the hearts of men; and I do this by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
