믿음은 “볼” 수 있습니다
Faith Can Be “Seen”
“믿음은 바라는 것들의 실상이요 보이지 않는 것들의 증거니”(히 11:1)
믿음에 관해 명확히 이해해야 할 심오한 내용이 있습니다. 믿음은 “볼” 수 있지만, 실제 눈으로는 볼 수 없습니다. 영 안에서 보는 것입니다. 히브리서 11:1에서 읽은 믿음에 대한 정의는 하나님께서 사람들에게 성령으로 말미암아 설명해 주시는 것입니다. 영 안에서 볼 수 없다고 말하는 것은 아닙니다. 믿음은 영으로부터 나고, 영 안에서 “볼” 수 있기 때문입니다.
예를 들어, 마가복음 2장을 보면 예수님께서 집에서 가르치고 계셨고, 성경은 그곳이 사람들로 가득 차서 문 근처에도 자리가 없을 정도였다고 말합니다. 네 명의 남성이 침상에 누워있는 중풍병자를 들고 그 무리를 뚫고 지나가려고 했습니다. 그러나 너무 많은 사람들이 있다 보니 그들은 문을 넘어 예수님께로 갈 수 없었습니다. 그래서 지붕으로 올라가서, 지붕을 뜯고 부순 뒤, 그 중풍병자를 예수님 바로 앞으로 내렸습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “예수께서 그들의 믿음을 보시고 중풍병자에게 이르시되 작은 자야 네 죄 사함을 받았느니라 하시니”(막 2:5)
예수님께서 그들의 믿음을 “보셨습니다”. 어떻게 보셨습니까? 바로 그들의 행동을 통해 보셨습니다! 바울은 루스드라에서 태어날 때부터 불구가 되어 걸을 수 없었던 어떤 사람을 통해 비슷한 경험을 했습니다. 성경은 말합니다. “그 사람이 바울이 말하는 것을 듣거늘 바울이 그를 똑바로 쳐다보고 고침 받을 만한 믿음이 그에게 있음을 알고는(perceiving) 큰 소리로 이르되, 네 발로 똑바로 일어서라, 하니 그 사람이 뛰고 걸으니라.”(행 14:9-10, 한글 흠정역)
“알다(perceive)”라는 단어에 주목해 보십시오. 이는 실제로 “보다”라는 뜻입니다. 바울은 그 사람이 말씀을 듣고 받아들이는 모습을 보고 그의 믿음을 “보았습니다”. 유대인 성경 번역본(Complete Jewish Bible)은 바울이 “그를 주의 깊게 바라보며 그가 고침을 받을 믿음이 있음을 보고 큰 소리로 이르되 “너의 발로 일어서라!” 하니 그가 뛰어 일어나 걷기 시작하니라”
믿음은 당신의 말, 행동, 심지어 당신의 경향에서 드러납니다. 믿음은 수동적이거나 순응적이지 않습니다. 당신은 행동으로 당신의 믿음을 증명합니다. 그래서 성경은 “이와 같이 행함이 없는 믿음은 그 자체가 죽은 것이라”(약 2:17)고 말합니다. 믿음은 뇌나 생각의 반응이 아닙니다. 믿음은 하나님의 말씀에 대한 당신의 영의 반응입니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 나는 주변 상황이나 정보와 상관없이 내 믿음을 하나님의 말씀에 단단하게 고정합니다. 나는 믿음의 눈으로 자연적인 영역 너머를 보고 하나님의 뜻과 목적을 인식합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

FAITH CAN BE “SEEN”
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
There’s something profound about faith that needs to be clearly understood. Faith can be “seen,” howbeit, not with the optical eyes; it’s seen in the spirit. The definition of faith as read in Hebrews 11:1 is an explanation as God, by the Spirit, presents it to man. In the spirit, it’s not put in those words because faith is of the spirit and can be “seen” in the spirit.
Take for example in Mark chapter two when Jesus was in a house teaching and the Bible says the place became packed with people that there was no space left, not even near the door. Attempting to press through that crowd were four men, carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. But due to the large crowd, they couldn’t get through the door to where Jesus was, and so decided to go up to the roof, dug through it, and lowered the paralyzed man down on his mat, right in front of Jesus. The Bible says, “When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mark 2:5).
Jesus “saw” their faith; how? In their action! Paul had a similar experience in Lystra with a certain man who was crippled from birth and had never walked. The Bible says, “The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked” (Acts 14:9-10).
Notice the Word “perceiving”; it actually means “seeing”; Paul “saw” the man’s faith in the way he listened and received the Word. The Complete Jewish Bible actually says, Paul, “…looking at him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up on your feet!” He jumped up and began to walk.”
Faith is seen in your words, actions, and even your disposition. Faith is not passive or docile; you prove your faith by your actions. That’s why the Bible says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17). Faith isn’t a response of the brain or of the mind; it’s the response of your spirit to God’s Word. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I anchor my faith firmly on your Word, regardless of the circumstances or reports around me. I see beyond the natural and perceive your will and purposes through the eyes of faith, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
