Let The Word Control Your Values
“육신의 생각은 사망이요 영의 생각은 생명과 평안이니라”(롬 8:6)
성경에서 육신적인 생각에 대해 말할 때에, 그것은 죄를 저지르기 쉬운 생각이긴 하나 그 자체로 죄가 되는 것은 아닙니다. 육신적인 생각이란 평범한 생각을 뜻합니다. 곧 단순한 인간의 이해와 삶에서 난 생각입니다.
어떤 사람이 거듭났다 할지라도 육신적인 생각을 하는 사람이라면, 그는 자연인과 같이 생각하고 행동합니다. 그는 감각에 따라 삽니다. 그는 육신의 것들에 더욱 맞춰져 있고 관심을 기울입니다. 말씀과 왕국의 영적 실재들은 그의 관심을 끌지 못합니다.
성경은 그렇게 사는 것은 하나님과 원수가 되는 일이라고 말합니다(롬 8:7). 육신적인 그리스도인은 하나님과 반대되는 목적으로 살아간다는 의미입니다. 그는 하나님의 말씀에 순종하거나 다스림을 받지 않습니다. 은혜롭고 신성한 모든 것에서 구별된, 죽음에 이르는 상태입니다! 도대체 왜 누군가가 그러한 낮은 수준의 삶을 살고 있어야 합니까?
영의 지배를 받고 말씀의 통치를 받으십시오. 육신적인 것들에 흔들리거나 끌리는 것을 거부하십시오. 성경은 말합니다. “육신을 따르는 자는 육신의 일을 생각하나니”(롬 8:5) 당신을 고무시키는 것은 무엇입니까? 기억하십시오. 당신의 보물이 있는 곳에 당신의 마음이 있습니다.
당신의 관심과 시간과 에너지가 그리스도와 그분의 복음, 그분이 우리에게 주신 영생과 관련된 것들에 초점을 맞추고 있다면 당신은 영을 따르는 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 말씀이 당신의 가치, 생각, 의견, 선택 및 결정을 지배하게 하십시오.
고백
나는 감각을 통해 느끼거나 보거나 감지하는 것을 근거로 행하지 않습니다! 나는 거듭나서 성령과 내 안에 있는 그리스도의 생명으로 충만합니다. 그러므로 나는 평범하지 않습니다! 나의 생각과 관심은 주님과, 그리스도와, 그분의 복음과 영원한 왕국의 것들에 고정되어 있습니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

LET THE WORD CONTROL YOUR VALUES
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6).
When the Bible talks about the carnal mind, it doesn’t mean a sinful mind per se, even though the carnal mind is prone to sin. A carnal mind means a mind that’s ordinary; of mere human understanding; just normal human life.
The person who’s carnally-minded, even though he’s born again, reasons and acts like the natural man. He lives according to the senses. He’s more attuned to, and concerned about the things of the flesh. The Word and the spiritual realities of the Kingdom hardly get his attention.
Now, the Bible tells us that to live that way is enmity against God (Romans 8:7); meaning that the carnal Christian walks at cross-purposes with God. He’s not ruled by or subject to the Word of God; a state that leads to death—separation from everything gracious and divine! Why in the world should anyone live at such a base level?
Be Spirit-ruled and Word-governed. Refuse to be stirred by and attracted to fleshly things. The Bible says, “…they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh…” (Romans 8:5). What are the things that stir you up? Remember, where a man’s treasure is, there will his heart be also.
You’re after the Spirit if your affection time and energies are focused on things pertaining to Christ, His Gospel, and the eternal life that He’s given us. So, let the Word of God control your values, ideas, opinions, choices and decisions.
CONFESSION
I’m not moved by what I feel, see or perceive through the senses! I’m born again and full of the Holy Ghost, with the very life of Christ in me. Therefore, I’m not ordinary! My mind and affections are set on the Lord and things pertaining to Christ, His Gospel, and eternal Kingdom. Blessed be God!
