“기분이 좋은 것”이 축복받았다는 뜻은 아닙니다
“Feeling Good” Doesn’t Mean Being Blessed
“영으로 하나님께 경배하고 그리스도 예수님을 기뻐하며 육체를 신뢰하지 아니하는 우리가 곧 할례자니라.”(빌 3:3, 한글 흠정역)
저는 하나님의 말씀을 사랑합니다! 하나님의 말씀은 우리가 삶을 어떻게 살아야 하는지, 주님을 어떻게 섬기고 경배해야 하는지에 대해 항상 분명하게 알려줍니다. 오늘의 본문 구절에 대해 잠시 묵상해 보십시오. 위 구절은 우리가 영으로 하나님을 경배하고 육체를 신뢰하지 아니하므로 할례자라고 말합니다. 다시 말해서, 우리의 경배는 “느낌”이나 육체의 나타남과는 아무 상관이 없습니다.
어떤 사람들은 단지 “기분을 좋게” 만드는 어떤 곡들을 부르며 자신이 축복을 받고 있다고 생각합니다. 그러나 아무리 당신의 기분을 좋게 만들어 줄지라도 비성경적인 노래라면 당신의 삶에 어떤 발전도 만들어내지 못합니다.
예를 들어, “능력, 능력, 오순절의 능력은 오늘도 여전히 여기 있네…”라는 곡이 있습니다. 만일 당신이 이 곡을 좋아하고, 부르고, “몸을 흔들고”, 당신이 축복을 받고 있다고 생각하더라도, 그렇지 않습니다. 성경은 “오순절의 능력”에 대해 그 무엇도 말하지 않습니다. 오순절의 능력 같은 것은 없습니다.
하지만 많은 그리스도인들이 기분이 좋아진다는 이유로 그런 곡을 부릅니다. 기분이 좋은 것과 축복을 받는 것은 같지 않습니다. 축복을 받으면 당신의 삶은 발전합니다. 당신의 삶에 발전이 없더라도 당신의 기분은 좋을 수 있습니다.
어떤 사람들은 자신을 춤추게 하는 음악을 기대하며 교회에 갑니다. 그래서 그들은 하나님을 찬양한다고 생각하면서 땀에 흠뻑 젖을 때까지 춤을 추고 또 춥니다. 육체 안에서 그런 춤을 추면 기분이 좋아질 수도 있지만, 그것이 당신이 축복받는다거나 하나님께서 받아들이셨다는 의미는 아닙니다.
참된 경배는 영으로, 영 안에서 드리는 것입니다. 우리가 오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 내용을 떠올려 보십시오. 이는 주 예수님께서 요한복음 4:23에서 하신 말씀과 비슷합니다. “아버지께 참되게 예배하는 자들은 영과 진리로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이 때라 아버지께서는 자기에게 이렇게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라”
주님께서 “아버지께서 무도장에서 온 힘을 다하고 땀을 흘리며 춤추는 자들을 찾으신다”고 말씀하지 않으셨음에 주목하십시오. 참된 경배는 하나님의 말씀과 성령으로 말미암아 드립니다.
따라서 하나님을 찬양할 때 당신의 심령을 그분께 맞추십시오. 하나님께 그분의 이름을 영광스럽게 하는 말, 즉 그분의 인격, 성품, 사랑, 은혜, 부드러운 자비, 거룩함, 의로움, 위대함과 일치하는 말을 하십시오. 바로 그것이 당신을 축복하고 당신의 삶에 변화를 불러옵니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 하나님의 말씀과 뜻에 일치하는 마음으로 영과 진리로 하나님을 경배할 수 있는 특권, 축복, 기회를 주시니 감사합니다. 아버지의 이름을 영광스럽게 하는 찬양의 말을 할 수 있는 것이 얼마나 영광스러운 일인지요! 주님은 만유의 왕이시요, 유일하신 참되고 의로우신 하나님이십니다. 나는 오늘 그리고 항상 주님을 사랑합니다. 아멘.

“FEELING GOOD” DOESN’T MEAN BEING BLESSED
“For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Philippians 3:3).
I love the Word of God! It’s always so clear as to how we’re to live our lives, how to serve and worship the Lord. Ponder for a moment what we just read in our theme scripture. It says we’re the circumcision that worship God in the spirit, and have no confidence in the flesh. In other words, our worship has nothing to do with “feelings” or the manifestations of the flesh.
Some people sing certain songs that only make them “feel good” and they think they’re being blessed. Any unscriptural song, no matter how good it makes you feel, doesn’t bring any improvement to your life.
For example, the song, “The power, the power, the Pentecostal power is still here today….” If you like, sing it and “shake” and think you’re being blessed; you’re not. The Bible doesn’t say anything about “Pentecostal power”; there’s no such thing as Pentecostal power.
But a good number of Christians sing such songs because it makes them “feel good.” Feeling good and being blessed aren’t the same. When you’re blessed, your life is improved. You can feel good without your life being improved.
Some go to church looking forward to music that makes them dance. So, they dance and dance until they’re drenched in sweat, thinking they’re praising God. Such dancing in the flesh may make you feel good, it doesn’t mean you’re blessed and that God accepts it.
True worship is of the spirit and in the spirit; not in the flesh. Recall what we read in our theme verse. It parallels the words of the Lord Jesus in John 4:23, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
Notice the Master didn’t say, “The Father seeks those who will dance with all their might and sweat on the dance floor.” True worship is done according to the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit.
So when you praise God, let your heart be attuned to Him. Offer to Him words that glorify His Name—words that are consistent with His person, His character and love, His grace, tender-mercies, holiness, righteousness and greatness. That’s what blesses you and brings transformation to your life.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege, blessing and opportunities to worship you in spirit and in truth, with a heart that is aligned with your Word and your will. What an honour it is to offer words of praise that glorify your Name; you’re the great King of all, the only true and righteous God. I love you now and always. Amen.
