겸손 안에서 행하십시오
Walk In Humility
“예수께서 또 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 세상의 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어둠에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라”(요8:12)
주 예수님은 모든 면에서 우리의 완벽한 모범이십니다. 그분은 의인화된 겸손이셨습니다. 당신이 그분에게 열심히 배우며 따라가면, 당신은 절대 길을 잃지 않을 것입니다. 그분은 말씀하셨습니다. “… 나를 따르는 자는 어둠에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라.” 당신은 그분의 발자취를 따르고 있으면서 동시에 교만할 수 없습니다. 그것은 불가능합니다.
어떤 사람들은 교만에 사로잡힐까 두려워합니다. 그러나 당신이 예수님을 진정으로 알고 따르고 있다면 그럴 수 없습니다. 그분을 따르는 방법은 말씀을 통해 가능합니다. 말씀을 행하는 자가 되십시오. 베드로전서 5:5은 말합니다. “젊은 자들아 이와 같이 장로들에게 순종하고 다 서로 겸손으로 허리를 동이라 하나님은 교만한 자를 대적하시되 겸손한 자들에게는 은혜를 주시느니라.”
주님과 그분의 말씀에 순종하십시오. 이것이 진정한 겸손입니다. 빌립보서 2:3(확대번역본)에서 성령은 이렇게 단언합니다. “[논쟁, 투쟁, 이기심 혹은 가치 없는 목적을 위한] 분파적인 동기 또는 자만심이나 공허한 오만에서 시작된 일은 아무것도 하지 마십시오. 대신 진정한 겸손(겸허한 마음)의 영으로 각자는 [자기 자신보다 서로를 더 높게 평가하며] 다른 사람을 자신보다 더 훌륭하고 우월하게 여기십시오.” 요약하자면, “겸손하라!”는 것입니다. 그리스도 안에 있는 형제 자매, 특히 주님 안에 있는 리더들을 결코 무시하지 마십시오. 그들에게 순종하십시오.
교만은 마귀로부터 왔습니다. 교만은 마귀를 자만심과 건방짐으로 이끌었고, 하나님은 그를 명예의 자리에서 내쫓으셨습니다. 겸손 안에서 살기로 의식적으로 결단하십시오. 이것은 당신 안에 계신 그리스도의 생명을 나타내는 일 중 하나입니다. 겸손은 당신을 승진시킵니다. 성경은 하나님께서 교만한 자들을 물리치시고 겸손한 사람들에게 더 많은 은혜를 주신다고 말합니다. 그리고 그 은혜는 명예, 증가, 확장, 발전을 가져옵니다. 할렐루야!
고백
나는 하나님 말씀의 권위와 영향력에 순종합니다. 나는 말씀을 내 마음에 받아들이고 그에 따라 행하며 말씀으로 내 성품과 태도를 확고히 변화시킵니다. 나는 날마다 지극히 겸손한 마음 가운데 삽니다. 나는 기꺼이 다른 사람들에 대한 사역의 책임을 지고 말씀에 충성함으로써, 신성한 호의와 승진을 끌어당깁니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!

Walk In Humility
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”(John 8:12).
The Lord Jesus is our perfect example in everything: He was humility personified. You couldn’t follow or emulate Him and miss your way; He said, “…he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” You couldn’t follow His steps and walk in pride; it’s impossible.
There’re those who say they’re afraid pride might take a hold of them; no; not when you truly know and follow Jesus. The way to follow Him is through the Word. Be a doer of the Word. 1 Peter 5:5 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
Be submissive to the Lord and His Word; that’s true humility. In Philippians 2:3 (AMPC), the Spirit adjures, “Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].” In essence, it’s saying, “Be humble!” Never disdain your brothers and sisters in Christ, especially your leaders in the Lord; be submissive.
Pride is of the devil. It led to his self-exultation; and for his haughtiness, God kicked him out of his place of honour. Make the conscious decision to walk in humility. It’s part of the manifestation of the life of Christ in you. It brings promotion. The Bible says God resists the proud and gives more grace to the humble. That grace results in honour, increase, enlargement, and progress. Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
I’m submissive to the authority, influence, and impact of God’s Word. I receive the Word into my heart, acting accordingly, making definite changes in my character and attitude with, and through the Word. Every day, I walk in excellent humility of heart, with the willingness to take on the responsibility of service to others, in loyalty to the Word, thereby attracting divine favour and promotion. Glory to God!
