세상을 사랑하지 마십시오
Love Not The World
“무릇 흙에 속한 자들은 저 흙에 속한 자와 같고…”(고전 15:48)
오늘의 본문 구절은 흙에 속한 자처럼 다시 거듭나지 않은 사람들을 가리킵니다. 이는 그들이 세상에 속했다는 의미입니다. 그들이 아는 모든 것들은 세상에 있는 것들이며, 그것이 그들의 삶입니다. 이것이 인간들의 실패의 이유이며, 거슬러 올라가면 타락한 아담이 근본적인 이유입니다. 그렇기 때문에 예수님께서 “너희는 거듭나야만 한다”(요 3:7)고 말씀하신 것입니다.
한 사람이 부모로부터 태어나 이 세상에 와서 살고 있는 삶을 지속한다면, 아무리 열심히 노력해도 그는 실패할 것입니다. 그가 어떤 부를 누리고 있는지 상관없이 그는 실패할 것입니다. 어떤 사람들은 그들의 커리어의 정점을 찍고 사회에서 강력하고 영향력 있는 사람이 되었지만, 동시에 그들은 삶에 그 이상의 무언가가 있다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다.
예수님은 그분의 제자들에게 “사람이 온 세상을 얻고도 자신의 혼을 잃는다면 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?”(막 8:36)고 말씀하셨습니다. 그분은 제자들에게 그들의 관심을 세상에 두지 않도록 조심하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 이 세상이 당신에게 모든 것을 줄 수도 있지만, 그것은 충분치 않습니다. 하나님께서 주시는 것이 최고이며 당신에게 필요한 모든 것입니다.
요한일서 2장 15절은 “이 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하지 말라 누구든지 세상을 사랑하면 아버지의 사랑이 그 안에 있지 아니하니”라고 말합니다. 안타깝게도, 그리스도인이 된 이후에도 세상을 사랑하고 세상의 것들을 사랑하는 사람들이 있습니다.
예를 들어, 디모데후서 4:10에서 우리는 데마에 관해 내용을 읽을 수 있습니다. 그는 사도 바울의 동역자 중 한 명이었습니다. 그러나 “데마는 이 세상을 사랑하여 나를 버리고 데살로니가로 갔고…” 데마는 바울과 함께 사역했고 바울을 통해 성령께서 일으키신 위대한 기적을 보았지만, 그는 도중에 타협했습니다. 데마는 세상을 사랑했기 때문에 성령의 길과 삶에서 벗어났습니다. 오늘날에도 똑같은 일이 많은 사람들에게 일어납니다. 사도 바울은 이렇게 선언했습니다. “세상이 나에게 십자가에 못 박히고 나도 세상에게 그러하니라.”(갈 6:14, 한글킹제임스) 이것이 당신의 신념이자 의식이 되어야 합니다.
당신의 삶과 영적 성장에 대한 당신의 유일한 열정이 하나님의 왕국의 확장이 되는 그 지점으로 오십시오. 그리스도의 사랑과 그분의 재림이 당신의 갈망하는 모든 것이며 당신이 사는 이유입니다.

LOVE NOT THE WORLD
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy… (1 Corinthians 15:48).
Our opening verse refers to those who aren’t born again as earthy; that means they’re of this world. All they know is in this world; that’s their life. This is the reason for the failures of men; it’s traced to the fallen Adam. This is why Jesus said, “…Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). If a man continues with the life with which he came into this world from his parents, he’ll be a failure, no matter how hard he tries. It makes no difference what wealth he enjoys, he’ll still become a failure.
There’re people who got to the zenith of their career; they became powerful and influential, but at some point, they realized there was more to life.
Jesus said to His disciples, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). He was telling them to be careful not to put their attention in this world. This world may offer you everything, but it’s not enough. What God offers is the best and it’s all you need. 1 John 2:15 says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Sadly, there’re those who love the world and the things of the world, even after they’ve become Christians.
For example, in 2 Timothy 4:10, we read about Demas. He was one of Apostle Paul’s co-labourers in the Gospel. But read his pathetic end in the words of Paul: “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica….” Demas worked with Paul and saw the great miracles wrought by the Spirit through Paul, but he compromised along the line. He deviated from the way and life of the Spirit, because he loved the world.
The same thing happens to many people today. Paul the Apostle declared: “I am crucified unto the world, and the world is crucified unto me” (Galatians 6:14).
This ought to be your persuasion and consciousness. Come to that point in your life, in your spiritual growth, where your only passion is the expansion of God’s Kingdom; where Christ—His love and His soon return—is all you desire and live for.
CONFESSION
I’m crucified unto the world, and the world is crucified unto me! I live for Christ and the spread of the Gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe. I’m an ambassador for Christ, called to establish heaven and righteousness in the hearts of men, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
