Sanctification Of The Spirit
“… 하나님이 처음부터 너희를 택하사 성령의 거룩하게 하심과 진리를 믿음으로 구원을 받게 하심이니”(살후 2:13)
거룩하게 하심은 우리 삶에서 성령님이 하시는 사역의 한 부분입니다. 거듭남으로 당신의 영이 하나님께 대해 살아있다 할지라도, 당신의 마음은 여전히 그 안에 있는 모든 더러운 것들로부터 정화되어야 합니다. 이것이 성경이 로마서 12:2에서 말한 마음을 새롭게 하는 것의 이유입니다.
하나님의 말씀을 공부하고 말씀을 받을수록, 당신의 마음에 있는 잘못된 생각, 아이디어, 옛 본성의 산물은 사라지고 하나님의 거룩한 생각, 그분의 거룩한 말씀, 그분의 왕국의 나타남으로 교체됩니다. 그것이 성경에서 “그리스도의 말씀이 너희 속에 풍성히 거하여…”(골 3:16)라고 말하는 이유입니다.
옳지 않은 일을 하고, 세상의 길을 가고, 잘못된 선택을 하려는 갈망은 오직 하나님의 말씀으로만 제거할 수 있습니다. 따라서 로마서 12:1은 이렇게 말합니다. “그러므로 형제들아 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물로 드리라 이는 너희가 드릴 영적 예배니라.” 그분은 이것을 세상 사람들이 아닌 하나님의 사람들에게 말씀하셨습니다. 당신의 마음을 죄에 내어주지 마십시오. 당신의 마음을 불의의 도구로 내어주지 마십시오. 당신은 거룩한 사람입니다.
고린도전서 6:9-11은 말합니다. “불의한 자가 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못할 줄을 알지 못하느냐 미혹을 받지 말라 음행하는 자나 우상 숭배하는 자나 간음하는 자나 탐색하는 자나 남색하는 자나 도적이나 탐욕을 부리는 자나 술 취하는 자나 모욕하는 자나 속여 빼앗는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못하리라 너희 중에 이와 같은 자들이 있더니 주 예수 그리스도의 이름과 우리 하나님의 성령 안에서 씻음과 거룩함과 의롭다 하심을 받았느니라.”
밑줄 친 부분에 주목하십시오! 당신은 살아있는 하나님을 섬기기 위해 성령으로 거룩하게 되었습니다. 그분은 당신을 대신한 예수 그리스도의 대속적인 희생을 통해 당신의 양심을 죽은 행실에서 깨끗하게 하셨습니다. 그분이 “너희는 하나님으로부터 나서 그리스도 예수 안에 있고 예수는 하나님으로부터 나와서 우리에게 지혜와 의로움과 거룩함과 구원함이 되셨으니”(고전 1:30)라고 말씀하신 것은 당연합니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!
기도
복되신 주님, 당신은 나를 영광스럽고 거룩하며 당신의 목적에 합당한 그릇으로 만드셨고 모든 선한 일에 준비되게 하셨습니다. 나는 당신의 말씀이 나의 삶과 성품을 지어가도록 말씀에 완전히 내어드립니다. 의와 참된 거룩함의 삶을 살 수 있는 능력을 주심에 감사드립니다. 아멘.

SANCTIFICATION OF THE SPIRIT
…God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:13).
Sanctification is part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Even though you’re born again and your spirit is alive to God, your mind still needs to be purified of all the garbage recorded therein. It’s the reason for the renewal of the mind the Bible talks about in Romans 12:2.
The more you study and receive God’s Word, the more the wrong thoughts, ideas and relics of the old nature in your mind are removed and replaced with God’s holy thoughts, His holy words and the manifestation of His kingdom. That’s why the Bible says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Colossians 3:16).
That desire to do the wrong things, to go in the way of the world, to make the wrong choice, only the Word of God can get rid of it. So, Romans 12:1 says,
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Notice that He’s addressing God’s people and not the people of the world. Don’t yield your mind to sin; don’t yield it as an instrument of unrighteousness.
You’re a sanctified person.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Notice our underlined portion! You’ve been sanctified by the Spirit to serve the living God. He’s purged your conscience of dead works through the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ in your behalf.
No wonder He says, “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption”
(1 Corinthians 1:30). Blessed be God!
PRAYER
Blessed Lord, you’ve made me a vessel unto honour, sanctified and fit for your use and prepared unto every good work. I’m fully yielded to your Word to mould my life and character. Thank you for granting me the ability to lead a life of righteousness and true holiness. Amen.
