“… 내가 예루살렘으로부터 두루 행하여 일루리곤까지 그리스도의 복음을 편만하게 전하였노라 또 내가 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 곳에는 복음을 전하지 않기를 힘썼노니 이는 남의 터 위에 건축하지 아니하려 함이라”(롬 15:19-20)
사도 바울은 오늘의 본문 구절에서 그의 선교 사역의 범위에 대해 심오한 내용을 알려줍니다. 그가 “온전히 전파했다”고 말한 것은 그리스도의 메시지 전체를 전했으며, 복음 전파를 위해 할 수 있는 모든 노력을 다했다는 것을 의미합니다.
다시 말해, 바울은 유대교 신앙의 중심지인 예루살렘에서부터 일루리곤까지 광범위하게 여행하며 영혼을 구원하고, 교회를 세우고, 그리스도인들을 믿음 안에서 양육했습니다. 그리스도가 전해지지 않은 지역에 복음을 전하려는 바울의 헌신은 복음을 듣지 못한 사람들에게 복음을 전하고자 하는 열망에서 비롯되었습니다. 이는 주 예수님께서 주신 “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아…”(마 28:19-20)라는 위대한 사명을 성취하는 일이었습니다.
바울은 많은 사람들이 아직 구원의 메시지를 듣지 못했기 때문에 복음 전파의 긴급성을 이해했습니다. 이후 23절에서 바울은 그 지역에서 더 이상 복음을 전할 곳이 없다고 말했습니다. 이는 바울이 하나님께서 그에게 맡기신 일을 충실히 수행했으며, 이제 새로운 지역으로 갈 준비가 되었음을 나타냅니다. 바울은 복음을 전파하여 그 메시지가 뿌리를 내리게 했습니다. “이제는 이 지방에 일할 곳이 없고 또 여러 해 전부터 언제든지 서바나로 갈 때에 너희에게 가기를 바라고 있었으니”(롬 15:23)
올해 주님께서 우리에게 주시는 은혜 중 하나는 모든 민족에게 복음 전파하는 일을 성취하는 것입니다. 이것을 믿고 당신의 역할을 인식하십시오. 마태복음 24:14에서 예수님은 “이 천국 복음이 모든 민족에게 증언되기 위하여 온 세상에 전파되리니 그제야 끝이 오리라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 모든 민족에게 복음을 전하라는 위대한 명령의 일원이 될 기회를 주셔서 감사합니다. 나는 올해 하나님의 메시지가 온 땅에 충만하게 전파되는 것을 보게 될 것이라고 선포합니다. 모든 지역의 그리스도인들과 교회들은 하나님의 성령으로 말미암아 힘을 얻고, 하나님의 진리를 담대하게 선포하며, 하나님의 말씀에 대한 지식이 물이 바다를 덮음 같이 온 땅을 덮습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE FULL PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL
“…So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.” (Romans 15:19-20 NIV).
The Apostle Paul, in the theme verse, tells us something profound about the extent of his missionary work. His declaration that he had “fully preached” the Gospel signified that he had delivered the entirety of Christ’s message, leaving no stone unturned in his evangelistic efforts.
In other words, from Jerusalem, the heart of the Jewish faith, to Illyricum, Paul travelled extensively, winning souls, establishing churches and nurturing Christians in the Faith. His commitment to preaching the Gospel in regions where Christ had not been named was driven by a desire to reach the unreached, fulfilling the Great Commission given by the Lord Jesus to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19-20).
Paul understood the urgency of spreading the Gospel, knowing that many were yet to hear the life-changing message of salvation. Later on, in the 23rd verse, He affirmed that he had “no more place” to preach the Gospel in those regions. It indicates that he had faithfully executed the task entrusted to him by God, and now, he was ready to move on to new territories. Paul preached the Gospel in such a way that the message had taken root: “But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you” (Romans 15:23).
One of the remarkable things the Lord is gracing us this year is to complete the full preaching of the Gospel in all nations. Believe this and identify your role in it. In Matthew 24:14, Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the opportunity to be part of the great commission to preach the Gospel to all nations. I declare that this year, we will see the fullness of your message reach every corner of the earth. Christians and churches everywhere are empowered by your Spirit to boldly proclaim your truth and the knowledge of your Word covers the earth as the waters cover the sea, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
