“나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나오리라 하시니”(요 7:38)
오늘의 본문 구절에 나오는 예수님의 말씀은 모든 그리스도인의 삶에서 실제적이고 구체적으로 드러나야 합니다. 이 구절은 당신의 배에서 생수의 강이 흐를 것이라고 말합니다. 생수의 강이 당신에게서 흘러나오는 것은 정말 중요합니다! 더 읽어보면, 39절에서는 예수님께서 믿는 자들에게 생수의 강이 부어지고, 채워지고, 흐르도록 하시는 성령님에 대해서 말씀하십니다. “이는 그를 믿는 자들이 받을 성령을 가리켜 말씀하신 것이라 (예수께서 아직 영광을 받지 않으셨으므로 성령이 아직 그들에게 계시지 아니하시더라)”(요 7:39)
이사야 55:10도 이 내용에 대한 통찰력을 줍니다. “이는 비와 눈이 하늘로부터 내려서 그리로 되돌아가지 아니하고 땅을 적셔서 소출이 나게 하며 싹이 나게 하여 파종하는 자에게는 종자를 주며 먹는 자에게는 양식을 줌과 같이” 비가 땅을 비옥하게 하듯이 하나님의 말씀도 하나님의 목적을 이루기 위해 쏟아집니다. 잠언 18:4은 말합니다. “명철한 사람의 입의 말은 깊은 물과 같고 지혜의 샘은 솟구쳐 흐르는 내와 같으니라”
확대번역본은 이 구절을 더 자세히 설명합니다. “[신중하고 지혜로운] 사람의 입의 말은 깊은 물과 같고 [풍성하고 헤아리기 어려운], 능숙하고 경건한 지혜의 샘은 [반짝거리고, 신선하고, 순수하고, 생명을 주는] 솟아나는 시냇물과 같습니다.” 밑줄 친 부분을 주목하십시오. 이 부분은 성령으로 말미암아 영감을 받은 말의 능력과 생명을 강조합니다.
누가는 사도행전 10:44에서 베드로가 고넬료의 집에서 설교하는 동안 일어난 놀라운 사건을 기록합니다. “베드로가 이 말을 할 때에 성령이 말씀 듣는 모든 사람에게 내려오시니” 베드로가 한 말은 성령의 능력으로 솟아나는 시냇물처럼 흘러내려 듣는 모든 사람에게 생명을 주었습니다.
당신이 성령을 받으면 당신의 말을 통해 성령님을 섬기게 됩니다. 예수님께서 그분의 말씀에 대해서 말씀하신 것과 같이 당신의 말은 영이요 생명입니다. “살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말은 영이요 생명이라”(요 6:63) 할렐루야! 예수님의 말씀은 눈먼 자의 눈을 뜨게 했고(요 9:6-7), 귀신을 쫓아냈고(막 5:1-20), 죽은 자를 살리고(요 11:43-44), 폭풍을 잠잠케 했습니다(막 4:39). 그분은 자연에게 말씀하셨고, 자연은 그 말씀에 순종했습니다(마 8:26-27).
당신의 말은 동일한 능력을 가지고 있습니다. 당신은 자신의 몸에 말하고, 병이 더 자라지 못하게 명령하고, 당신의 심장과 폐와 신장에 치유를 선포할 수 있습니다. 당신과 당신의 상황에 대해 하나님의 말씀을 말하는 훈련을 하십시오. 생수의 강, 곧 성령의 능력이 있는 생명의 말이 당신에게서 흘러나오게 하십시오.

사랑하는 아버지, 내 삶을 능력과 목적으로 채우시는 성령의 은사에 감사드립니다. 하나님의 영이 내 안에 계시므로 내 말은 영이요 생명입니다. 나는 계속해서 하나님의 진리와 일치하는 말을 하고 내 세상에 변화를 불러옵니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER ISSUING OUT OF YOU
“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38).
The words of Jesus in the scripture above should be real and tangible in the life of every Christian. It says out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water. How important it is to have these rivers of living water issuing out of you! If you read further, the 39th verse explains that Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit: “But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:39).
Isaiah 55:10 also gives some insight into this. It says, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.” Just as rain pours down to nourish the earth, so does the Word of God pour out to fulfil God’s purpose. Proverbs 18:4 tells us, “The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.”
In the Amplified Classic, it is further expounded: “The words of a [discreet and wise] man’s mouth are like deep waters [plenteous and difficult to fathom], and the fountain of skillful and godly Wisdom is like a gushing stream [sparkling, fresh, pure, and life-giving].” Notice the underlined portion; it underscores the power and life in words that are inspired by the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 10:44, Luke narrates a remarkable incident that happened while Peter was preaching in the house of Cornelius: “…the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.” The words Peter spoke were empowered by the Holy Spirit, pouring out like a gushing stream, bringing life to all those who heard them.
When you receive the Holy Ghost, you minister the Spirit through your words. Your words are spirit and life, just as Jesus said of His own words: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Hallelujah! Jesus’ words opened blind eyes (John 9:6-7), cast out demons (Mark 5:1-20), raised the dead (John 11:43-44), and calmed the raging tempest (Mark 4:39). He spoke to nature, and it obeyed (Matthew 8:26-27).
Your words carry the same power. You can speak to your body, command growths to disappear, and declare healing in your heart, lungs, and kidneys. Practice speaking the Word of God over yourself and your circumstances. Let the rivers of living water issue out of you—words of life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who fills me with power and purpose. My words are spirit and life because of your Spirit within me. I continually speak words that align with your truth and bring transformation to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
