Advancing The Kingdom
“…나라와 권세와 영광이 아버지께 영원히 있사옵나이다 아멘”(마 6:13)
예수님께서 제자들에게 주신 주기도문의 결론 부분에서 그분은 제자들에게 이렇게 말하도록 가르치셨습니다. “나라가 아버지의 것입니다.” 여기서 예수님은 하나님의 왕국(Kingdom of God)을 의미하셨습니다. 하지만 마태복음에는 “하늘의 왕국(Kingdom of Heaven, 역자 주: 킹제임스 및 흠정역에서 사용되는 표현)”이라는 표현도 있습니다. 이 표현은 하나님의 왕국과 같은 의미로 사용되지만, 정확히는 이 둘은 다른 의미를 가지고 있습니다.
하나님의 왕국은 하나님의 통치와 권세 아래 있는 모든 영역을 의미하지만, 하늘의 왕국(Kingdom of Heaven)은 주로 메시아 예수 그리스도와 그분의 통치 아래 있는 곳과 관련 있습니다. 하늘의 왕국(Kingdom of Heaven)은 하나님의 왕국의 일부로서 이 땅에서 예수님을 머리로 삼아 지어진 곳입니다.
‘하늘 왕국’의 비전은 이 땅에 하나님의 왕국을 세우고 확장하는 것입니다. 이것이 예수 그리스도의 사역이며, 우리가 교회로서 매우 중요한 역할을 합니다. 우리가 자신의 역할을 아는 것이 중요합니다. 첫째, 하나님의 왕국의 확장을 위해 우리 모두에게 각자 책임이 주어졌습니다. 우리가 이 왕국에 속해 있기 때문입니다. “그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라”(마 6:33)
먼저 하나님의 왕국과 의를 구하라는 주님의 명령은 우리에게 우선순위를 재점검하고 올바른 우선순위에 따라 행하라고 말합니다. 당신의 궁극적인 갈망은 복음으로 세상에 영향을 미칠 때 당신을 통해 왕국이 전진하는 것이 되어야 합니다.
당신의 시간과 노력과 자원을 복음 전파에 쏟으십시오. 하나님의 말씀이 당신의 도시, 지역, 나라, 이 세상에서 세력을 얻을 수 있도록 당신이 할 수 있는 일들이 너무나 많습니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 나는 그 어느 때보다도 그리스도의 구원과 인류를 향한 그분의 놀라운 일에 대한 영광스러운 소식을 땅 끝까지 전하기 원합니다. 하나님의 왕국이 내 마음에 세워졌습니다. 평안과 아름다움, 영광과 은혜, 그리고 하나님의 생명이 내 영 안에서 온전히 기능하며, 내 안에서 또 나를 통해 온전히 표현됩니다. 나를 통해 하나님의 말씀이 우리 도시, 지역, 나라, 그리고 전세계에서 세력을 얻습니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

ADVANCING THE KINGDOM
“…For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”(Matthew 6:13).
In the concluding part of the format of prayer Jesus gave to His disciples, He taught them to say, “Thine is the Kingdom.” He was referring to the Kingdom of God. But in St. Mathew’s Gospel, there’s another expression, “the Kingdom of heaven,” which, though interchangeably used with the Kingdom of God, is different from it.
While the Kingdom of God refers to the rulership or dominion of God which transcends territories and is universal, the Kingdom of heaven is applied mostly in connection to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and His messianic reign. It’s that part of the Kingdom of God that’s established in the earth and is headed by Jesus.
The vision of the Kingdom of heaven is the establishment and expansion of the Kingdom of God in the earth; it’s the work of Jesus Christ, of which we, the Church, are a vital part. It’s important for us to know our role. Each one of us actually has a responsibility, first, in seeing to the expansion of the Kingdom of God, because we belong in that Kingdom: “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
The Lord’s injunction for us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness calls for every one of us to reappraise our priorities and walk accordingly. Your ultimate desire should be that the Kingdom is advancing through you as you impact your world with the Gospel.
Devote your time, efforts, and resources to the furtherance of the Gospel. There’s so much more you can do to ensure God’s Word prevails in your city, region or country, and the world.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I’m determined, more than ever, to spread, to the ends of the earth, the glorious news of Christ’s salvation and His wondrous works towards mankind. The Kingdom of God has been set up in my heart: the peace, beauty, glory, grace, and the life of God are fully functional in my spirit; expressed in and through me. Through me, the Word prevails in my city, region, country, and the world. Blessed be God!
