예수님은 “그리스도인들”을 위해 죽지 않으셨습니다
He Didn’t Die For “Christians”
“그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다”(고후 5:17)
우리는 보통 “예수님은 온 세상을 위해 죽으셨다”고 말합니다. 그렇습니다. 이것은 절대적인 정답입니다. 하지만 어떤 의미에서 예수님은 그리스도인들을 위해 죽으신 것이 아닙니다. “우리 모두” 라고 말할 때, 세상 모든 사람들을 지칭하는 것과 그리스도인만을 뜻하는 것에는 큰 차이가 있습니다.
예수님은 우리 모두, 곧 온 세상을 위해 죽으셨고, 우리를 위해 심판 받으셨습니다. 그러나 당신이 예수님께서 당신을 위해 죽고, 당신을 의롭게 하시기 위해 다시 살아나셔서, 당신의 영에 영생을 얻을 수 있도록 하셨다는 것을 믿었을 때 거듭났습니다. 당신은 그리스도인, 즉 새로운 피조물이 되었습니다.
새로운 피조물은 완전히 새로운 사람, 완전히 새로운 종류의 존재입니다. 새로운 피조물에게는 과거가 없습니다. “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새것이 되었도다”(고후 5:17) 당신은 아버지와 어머니에게서 태어난 사람이 아닙니다. 그 사람은 죄의 본성을 가지고 있던 “옛 사람”입니다. “옛 사람” 또는 “옛 당신”은 그리스도와 함께 죽었습니다. “우리가 알거니와 우리의 옛 사람이 예수와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 것은 죄의 몸이 죽어 다시는 우리가 죄에게 종 노릇 하지 아니하려 함이니”(롬 6:6)
새로운 당신, 새로운 피조물은 부활로부터 났습니다. “그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이라”(롬 6:4) 이 “새로운 당신”은 의와 거룩함으로 창조되었습니다: “하나님을 따라 의와 진리의 거룩함으로 지으심을 받은 새 사람을 입으라”(엡 4:24) 할렐루야!
만약 새로운 피조물에게 과거가 없다는 것이 사실이라면 (그리고 이것은 사실입니다) 예수님께서는 새로운 피조물을 위해 죽으신 것이 아닙니다. 이 사실을 이해하면 당신이 그리스도인으로 살아가는데 많은 도움이 될 것입니다. 당신이 왜 의롭게 되었는지 이해할 수 있을 것입니다. 성경은 예수 그리스도께서 우리를 의롭다 하시기 위해 다시 살아나셨다고 말합니다(롬 4:25). 당신은 그리스도 안에서 의롭게 되었습니다. 의의 관점에서 볼 때 당신은 한 번도 죄를 지은 적이 없는 것입니다. 당신은 그리스도 안에서 하나님의 의입니다.

He Didn’t Die For “Christians”
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”(2 Corinthians 5:17).
When we speak generically, we say, “Jesus died for the whole world.” Yes; that’s absolutely correct. But in some sense, He didn’t die for Christians. There’s a huge difference when we say, “all of us,” meaning everyone in the world, and “all of us,” referring to Christians.
In the generic sense, Jesus died for all of us—the whole world—He was judged for us. But when you believed that He died for you, and was raised back to life for your justification, that made it possible for eternal life to be imparted to your spirit. Once that happened, you were born again; you became a Christian—a new creation.
The new creation is a brand-new man, a brand-new species of being; he has no past: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You aren’t the same person that was born of your Father and your mother; that’s the “old man” with the sin-nature. That “old man” or “old you” died with Christ: “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” (Romans 6:6).
The new you—the new creation—came from the resurrection: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). This “new you” is created in righteousness and holiness: “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). Hallelujah!
If it is true that the new creation has no past (and it is true), then he isn’t the one that Jesus died for. Understanding this will help you a great deal in your Christian walk. It’ll make it easy for you to understand why you’re justified. The Bible says, Jesus Christ was raised back to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). You’ve been justified in Him. In other words, in the mind of justice, you never sinned. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ.

I bless you Father, Lord God of heaven and earth, for blessing me with your Word; I declare that I’m a new creation in Christ Jesus and the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places. I refuse to struggle for anything for you’ve blessed me richly with all things to enjoy. I walk in favour, divine health and prosperity all the days of my life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
