예수님은 주님이시며 왕이십니다
JESUS IS LORD AND KING
“우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때까지 흠도 없고 책망 받을 것도 없이 이 명령을 지키라 기약이 이르면 하나님이 그의 나타나심을 보이시리니 하나님은 복되시고 유일하신 주권자이시며 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주시요”(딤전 6:14-15)
주 예수님은 왕 중의 왕이시며 주 중의 주이십니다. 성경은 예수님이 태어나셨을 때 “…동방으로부터 박사들이 예루살렘에 이르러 말하되 유대인의 왕으로 나신 이가 어디 계시냐 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고 그에게 경배하러 왔노라 하니”(마2:1-2) 라고 말합니다. 예수님은 왕이 되신 것이 아닙니다. 그분은 왕으로 태어나셨습니다.
요한복음 18장에서 우리는 빌라도가 “그러면 네가 왕이 아니냐?”고 물었을 때 예수님 자신이 직접하신 증언을 볼 수 있습니다. 예수님은 대답하셨습니다. “네 말과 같이 내가 왕이니라”(요18:37). 그분의 대답은 “네 말이 옳다”는 뜻이었습니다. 예수님은 동의하셨습니다. 실제로 39절에서는 빌라도가 유대인들에게 “…그러면 너희는 내가 유대인의 왕을 너희에게 놓아주기를 원하느냐?”고 말하며 예수님의 말씀을 확증하였습니다.
만일 예수님께서 자신이 왕이심을 부인하셨다면, 빌라도는 그분을 유대인의 왕이라 하지 않았을 것입니다. 사도행전 2:30에서 베드로는 회중에게 말했습니다. “그는 선지자라 하나님이 이미 맹세하사 그(다윗) 자손 중에서 한 사람을 그 위에 앉게 하리라 하심을 알고.”
요한복음 12:13에서 예수님께서 예루살렘에 승리의 입성을 하실 때, 사람들은 그분께 아낌없이 영광을 돌리며 예루살렘에 왕을 보내신 하나님을 찬양했습니다. 그들은 외쳤습니다. ”호산나, 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이 곧 이스라엘의 왕이시여…”
물론 유대인 장로들은 이를 언짢아 하며 예수님께 그분을 찬양하고 왕으로 영접하는 자들을 잠잠케 하라고 말했습니다(눅 19:39). 예수님은 대답하셨습니다. “만일 이 사람들이 침묵하면 길가의 돌들이 소리 지르리라 하시니라”(눅19:40). 다시 말해, 돌들도 똑같이 확증할 것이라는 뜻입니다. 할렐루야!
주 예수님은 지극히 높으신 하나님, 불멸의 하나님이시며 신성한 영광의 눈부신 빛 가운데 거하고 계십니다. 주님과 같은 분은 없습니다. 우리는 단순히 한 종교 지도자를 섬기는 것이 아니라 온 우주의 왕이자 주권자이신 분을 섬기고 있습니다. 그분은 하늘과 땅과 땅 아래의 모든 권세를 가지고 계십니다. 그분과 당신의 동일시됨을 당당히 인정하고, 담대히 그분을 대신하여 말하십시오. 영원히 예수님의 이름에 영광을 드립니다!

사랑하는 주 예수님, 당신은 모든 권세, 영광, 위엄을 지닌 영원하신 불멸의 왕이십니다! 당신은 하늘의 기쁨이요 땅의 소망이십니다. 당신은 지극히 높으신 하나님이시며, 홀로 모든 찬양과 존귀와 경배를 받기 합당하십니다. 당신은 만세의 왕이십니다. 나는 오늘 그리고 영원히 당신을 경배합니다. 아멘.

JESUS IS LORD AND KING
“… Until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords”(1 Timothy 6:14-15).
The Lord Jesus is the King of kings, and Lord of Lords. When He was born, the Bible says, “…there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” (Matthew 2:1-2). He didn’t become a king; He was born a king.
In John 18, we find His own testimony when Pilate asked Him, “Art thou a king then?” Jesus responded, “Thou sayest that I am a king” (John 18:37). His response meant, “You’re right.” He spoke in the affirmative. In fact, in the 39th verse, speaking to the Jews, Pilate confirmed Jesus’ affirmation when he said, “…will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?”
Had Jesus denied being a King, Pilate wouldn’t call Him the King of the Jews. In Acts 2:30, speaking to an audience, Peter said, “Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him (David), that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne.”
In John 12:13, upon His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the crowds extravagantly honoured Him and praised God for sending this King into Jerusalem. They cried out, “Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
Of course, the elders of the Jews were offended and told Him to silence those who praised Him and received Him as King (Luke 19:39). Jesus responded, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers” (Luke 19:40 NLT). In other words, even the stones will affirm the same. Hallelujah!
The Lord Jesus is the exalted God, the immortal God, living in unapproachable light of divine glory. There’s none like Him. We’re not serving a mere religious leader, but one who is King and Monarch of the universe. He has all authority in heaven, in earth, and under the earth. Be unapologetic in your identity with Him, and speak boldly of Him. Glory to His Name forever!
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, you’re the King eternal, immortal, with all power, glory and majesty! You’re the joy of heaven and hope of the earth. You’re the Most High God, who alone is worthy of all praise, honour and adoration. You’re King of the ages, I worship you today and forever. Amen.
