성령님 – 복음의 능력

THE HOLY SPIRIT—THE POWER OF OUR MESSAGE

“주의 성령이 내게 임하셨으니 이는 가난한 자에게 복음을 전하게 하시려고…”(눅4:18)

1981년에 기도하던 중, 저는 제 삶을 변화시킨 성령님과의 개인적인 만남이 있었습니다. 저는 교제를 경험하기 시작했고 제 삶에 성령님의 능력을 더 실제적이고 본질적으로 적용하게 만드는 그분의 지식을 경험했습니다.

저는 유럽에서 아프리카로 온 선교사들에 대해 읽었습니다. 그들 중 몇몇은 믿지 않는 자들을 그리스도께로 인도하기 위해 수년을 보냈지만 많은 결과를 얻지 못했습니다. 그들은 노력했습니다. 일부는 그 과정에서 죽기도 했지만 별 다른 결과는 없었습니다. 문제는 그들이 종교를 가지고 왔다는 것이었습니다. 그들은 그리스도의 선하심을 알리는 좋은 메시지를 가지고 왔습니다. 그것도 매우 훌륭하지만, 그들에게는 좋은 메시지 그 이상이 필요했습니다.

아무리 예수님을 사랑하고 세상의 죄인들에게 복음을 전하는 일의 필요성에 감동을 받아도, 당신이 성령으로 충만하지 않다면 소용이 없습니다. 그래서 예수님께서는 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “너희는 위로부터 능력으로 입혀질 때까지 이 성에 머물라”(눅24:49)

누구라도 “나는 예수님을 사랑하고 평생 그분을 섬기겠습니다!”고 말할 수 있습니다. 베드로도 똑같이 말했습니다. 베드로는 주님께 이렇게 말했습니다. “비록 모든 사람이 다 주님을 버릴지라도, 나는 절대로 버리지 않겠습니다.”(마26:33, 새번역) 그는 “주님과 함께 죽는 한이 있을지라도, 절대로 주님을 모른다고 하지 않겠습니다.”(마26:35, 새번역) 라고 말했습니다. 그러나 몇 시간 후에 고작 군인 몇 명, 어린 소녀 한 명, 그리고 몇 명의 사람들만으로도 그는 예수님을 부인했습니다.

그러나 사도 베드로가 성령을 받고 나자 그의 두려움은 사라졌습니다. 한때 “무식한 어부”였던 그는 초자연적인 일을 말하고 행하기 시작하였고, 이런 일들이 수도 없이 일어나며 베드로의 설교를 통해 하루에 삼천 명의 영혼이 회심했습니다!

당신이 이미 성령을 받았다면 그것은 시작에 불과합니다. 당신은 성령님을 알아야 합니다. 당신은 그분과 함께 그리고 그분 안에서 행해야 합니다. 그분께 당신의 삶의 영원한 자리를 내어드려야 합니다. 기억하십시오. 우리 복음의 능력은 큰소리로 외치는 데 있지 않으며, 유창하게 말하는 것에 있지도 않습니다. 우리 복음의 능력은 성령님 안에 있습니다. “내 말과 내 전도함이 설득력 있는 지혜의 말로 하지 아니하고 다만 성령의 나타나심과 능력으로 하여”(고전2:4)

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 내 안에 살아 계시며 나를 당신의 완전한 뜻으로 인도하시는 성령님께 감사합니다. 나는 내 안에 있는 그분의 신성한 능력으로 힘을 얻습니다. 그분의 신성한 능력은 내가 복음을 가지고 내 세상에 가게 하고 나에게 담대함을 줍니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel…”(Luke 4:18).

While praying many years ago, precisely in 1981, I had some encounters with the Holy Spirit that changed my life. I began to experience a fellowship and knowledge of the Holy Spirit that made His power in my life more real and inherently applicable in life’s situations.

I had read about the missionaries who came from Europe to Africa. Some of them spent years trying to get converts to Christ without much results. They tried; some even died in the process, but it didn’t work. The problem was that they came with religion; they came with a nice message that exhibited the kindness of Christ. That was great, but they needed more than just a nice message.

No matter how much you love Jesus and how much you’re touched by the need to preach the Gospel to sinners in the world, if you’re not filled with the Holy Spirit, it won’t work. That’s why Jesus said to His disciples, “…tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

Anyone can say, “I love Jesus, and I’ll serve Him all my life!” Peter also said the same thing. He said to the Master, “…Even if everyone else deserts you, I will never desert you” (Matthew 26:33 NLT). He emphasized, “…Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you…” (Matthew 26:35 NLT). Of course, it only took some soldiers, a little girl, and some other fellow to make Peter deny Jesus few hours later.

But after Peter received the Holy Spirit, His fears disappeared. The once “unlearned fisherman” began to say and do supernatural things, so much so that in one day, through his preaching, three thousand souls were converted!

If you’ve received the Holy Spirit already, that’s just the beginning. You have to know Him; you have to walk in and with Him. He has to become a constant part of your life. Remember, the power of our message isn’t in the shouting, nor is it in the ability to use many words. The power of our message is the Holy Spirit: “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (1Corinthians 2:4).

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the Holy Spirit who lives in me and guides me in the path of your perfect will for me. I’m turned on from within by His divine power, which energizes me and fills me with courage to reach my world with the Gospel, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

주 안에서 강건 하십시오

BE STRONG IN THE LORD

끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고”(엡6:10)

오늘의 본문 구절에서 밑줄이 그어진 세 단어에 주목하십시오. 제가 차례대로 설명하도록 하겠습니다. 첫번째 단어는 “강건하다(strong)”라는 단어입니다. 누가복음 1: 80은 침례 요한에 대해 말합니다. “아이가 자라며 심령이 강하여지며(strong) 이스라엘에게 나타나는 날까지 빈 들에 있으니라.”

또한 누가복음 2:40은 또 다른 아이에 대해 설명합니다. “아기가 자라며 강하여지고(strong) 지혜가 충만하며 하나님의 은혜가 그의 위에 있더라.” 이는 예수님에 대한 설명입니다. 그러므로 침례 요한과 예수님께서 심령이 강해졌다는 뜻은 그들이 강건해졌다는 뜻입니다.

“능력(power)”이라는 단어는 그리스어 “크라토스(kratos)”에서 파생되었으며, 힘을 뜻합니다. 다음 단어인 “힘(might)”은 그리스어 ” 이스큐스(ischus)”는 한 사람이 행사하거나 쓸 수 능력을 의미합니다. 하나님은 우리에게 어떤 말씀을 하고 계십니까? “주님의 힘과 그분이 쓰실 수 있는 능력 안에서 강건하여라” 하나님이 얼마나 강력한 힘을 그 상황에 행사하실 수 있겠습니까? 하나님의 능력의 유익을 누리십시오. 할렐루야!

기억하십시오. 당신의 능력이 아닌 성령의 능력입니다. 당신의 힘이 아닌 그분의 힘을 사용하십시오. 온 마음을 다해 그분을 신뢰하십시오. 그분이 하실 수 있는 일을 신뢰하십시오. 그분이 어떤 일을 하실 수 있는지 알기 위해 당신은 그분을 알아야 하는 것입니다. “여호와여 주의 이름을 아는 자는 주를 의지하오리니 이는 주를 찾는 자들을 버리지 아니하심이니이다”(시9:10).

칼이나 창이 아니라 물매와 매끄러운 돌 다섯 개로 골리앗과 싸웠던 다윗을 생각해 보십시오. 거인 골리앗이 다윗을 향해 걸어올 때, 다윗은 도망치지 않았습니다. 도리어 다윗은 골리앗을 향하여 돌격하여 하나의 돌멩이로 골리앗을 무너뜨렸습니다. 다윗은 주 안에서 강건하였고 하나님의 힘으로 거인을 이겼습니다. 주 안에서 강건하고 그분의 힘의 능력으로 강해지십시오. 하나님의 진리 안에서 강건 하십시오.

고백

나는 영원한 승리자입니다. 내가 하나님으로부터 났고 그분의 말씀대로 살기 때문입니다. 원수가 나에게 무슨 일을 하더라도 나는 당황하지 않습니다. 내 안에 계신 이가 세상에 있는 자보다 더 크시기 때문입니다. 나는 주 안에서 강건합니다. 나는 엄청난 일을 행하실 그분의 힘의 능력으로 강건합니다. 할렐루야!

BE STRONG IN THE LORD

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”(Ephesians 6:10).

Notice the three words underlined in our opening verse; I’ll explain them one after the other. The first one is “strong.” In Luke 1:80, talking about John the Baptist, the Bible says, “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”

Also, in Luke 2:40, the Bible talks about another child who “…grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” This is Jesus. So, John the Baptist and Jesus waxed strong in spirit, meaning that they became strong.

The word, “power” is from the Greek, “kratos” which means strength. The next word, “might” is from the Greek, “ischus” which means force that one has the ability to wield or apply. What’s God telling us? He’s saying, “Be strong in the strength of the Lord andin His ability to apply force.” What amount of force is God able to apply in a situation? Take advantage of it; take advantage of God’s ability. Hallelujah!

Remember, it’s the Spirit’s might and not your might. Apply His strength and not your strength. Trust in Him with all your heart. Trust what He can do. That’s why you have to know Him to have an idea of how much He’s able to do. The Bible says, “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee” (Psalm 9:10).

Consider David who went into battle with Goliath, not with a sword or a spear, but with a sling and five smooth stones. When the giant, Goliath, stepped forward against him, he didn’t turn back; rather, he charged towards Goliath and struck him down with just a stone. David was strong in the Lord and applied God’s strength to defeat the giant. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Be strong in God’s truth.

CONFESSION

I’m triumphant forever, because I’m born of God and live by His Word. No matter what the enemy throws at me, I’m unflustered because greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. I’m strong in the Lord and in the power of His might to do exploits! Hallelujah!

신성한 경험

THE DIVINE EXPERIENCE

“이로써 그 보배롭고 지극히 큰 약속을 우리에게 주사…신성한 성품에 참여하는 자가 되게 하려 하셨느니라”(벧후1:4)

거듭났을 때 당신은 흑암의 권세에서 하나님의 기이한 빛, 곧 그분의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 쏘아 올려졌습니다. “우리로 하여금 빛 가운데서 성도의 기업의 부분을 얻기에 합당하게 하신 아버지께 감사하게 하시기를 원하노라 그가 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내사 그의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮기셨으니”(골1:12-13).

그리고 나서, 베드로후서 1:4은 이렇게 말합니다. “이로써 그 보배롭고 지극히 큰 약속을 우리에게 주사… 신성한 성품에 참여하는 자가 되게 하려 하셨느니라.” 우리는 신성한 경험에 참여하는 자입니다. 우리는 왕국의 구경꾼이 아닙니다. 우리는 변화시키는 과정에 참여하는 자들입니다. 할렐루야!

우리는 지금까지 다른 어떤 존재도 가지지 못했던 하나님의 특별한 생명에 참여하고 있습니다. 이제 우리는 하나님의 본성을 가졌습니다! 이것이 바로 당신이 있는 곳에서 말하면 그 일들이 이루어지는 이유입니다. 당신은 자신의 손을 통해 하나님의 능력을 원하는 방향으로 움직일 수 있습니다.

모세를 기억하십니까? 하나님은 그에게 “네 손을 물 위로 내밀어 그것을 갈라라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 모세는 바다 위로 손을 내밀어 홍해를 갈랐습니다. 모세는 이때 신성한 경험에 참여한 것입니다. 하나님은 말씀을 주시고, 모세는 행동했습니다. 그러자 기적이 일어났습니다.

사람의 손과 거센 바다 사이에는 어떤 관계가 있었겠습니까? 하나님은 이를 통해 우리에게 영적인 메세지를 주고 계신 것입니다. 바로 그분과 하나됨, 그리고 신성한 경험에서의 우리의 역할에 대해 보여주고 계십니다. 예수님께서 요한복음 15:5에서 하신 말씀을 기억하십시오. “나는 포도나무요 너희는 가지라…나를 떠나서는 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없음이라.”

이 구절의 후반부는 반대로 바꿔 말해도 참됩니다. 우리가 그분을 필요로 하는 만큼 그분도 우리를 필요로 하십니다. 그분은 오늘날 우리 안에서 그리고 우리를 통해 역사하십니다. 당신이 마치 모세처럼 손을 들면 그것은 하나님의 손이 됩니다. 따라서 하나님께서는 당신에게 응답하십니다. 당신의 승리는 확정되었습니다. 당신이 해야 할 일은 그저 빛 가운데 행하는 것입니다. 신성한 경험 안에서 당신의 역할을 알고 행하기 위해 말씀을 공부하십시오. 당신은 평범한 사람이 아닙니다.

고백

아버지, 내게 신성한 경험에 참여할 수 있는 특별한 생명을 주셔서 감사합니다. 나는 항상 승리의 관점으로 모든 상황을 바라보며 기능합니다. 하나님이 내 안에서 역사하시며 그리스도의 생명과 본성이 나를 새롭게 하기 때문입니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE DIVINE EXPERIENCE

“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature…”(2 Peter 1:4).

When you were born again, you were catapulted from the domain of darkness into God’s marvelous light—the Kingdom of His Love- Son: “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:12-13).

Then 2 Peter 1:4 says, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature….” We’re participators in the divine experience. We’re not spectators in the Kingdom; we’re part of the process of making things happen. Hallelujah!

We’re now involved in that special life that God has, which hitherto no other being had. Now we have the nature of God! It’s the reason you can speak from where you are and things will happen. You can direct the power of God in a certain direction through your words or your hands.

Do you remember Moses? God said to him, “Stretch your hand over the water and divide it!” (Exodus 14:16). Moses parted the Red Sea by stretching forth his hand over the sea. That was him participating in the divine experience: God gave the Word, Moses acted; a miracle ensued.

What could have been the connection between a man’s hand and a raging sea? God is showing us something spiritual about our oneness with Him and our role in the divine experience. Recall the words of Jesus in John 15:5: “I am the vine, ye are the branches…for without me ye can do nothing.”

For the latter part of that verse, the reverse is also true. He needs us as much as we need Him. He works, and walks in and through us today. Like Moses, when you lift your hands, they’re God’s hands; therefore, God responds. Your victory has been settled; all you have to do is walk in the light of it. Study the Word to know and play your role in the divine experience. You’re not an ordinary person.

Thank you Father for such a priviledge to be involved

in the God-experience. I function every moment from

the standpoint of advantage and victory, for you’re at

work in me, invigorating me with the life and nature

of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

지식의 능력

THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE

내 백성이 지식이 없으므로 망하는도다… (호4:6)

오늘의 본문 구절에서 우리는 두 가지 놀라운 사실을 알 수 있습니다. 하나님의 백성이 멸망할 수 있다는 것과 멸망의 이유는 하나님의 말씀에 대한 지식이 없기 때문이라는 것입니다. 하나님의 말씀을 모르는 것은 끔찍한 일입니다. 예수님께서는 유대인들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “너희가 성경을 알지 못하므로 잘못하였도다.”

이는 디모데후서 2:15이 다음과 같이 말하는 이유를 설명합니다. “너는 진리의 말씀을 옳게 분별하며 부끄러울 것이 없는 일꾼으로 인정된 자로 자신을 하나님 앞에 드리기를 힘쓰라.” 모든 문제에 대한 해결책, 모든 질문에 대한 해답, 그리고 삶에 필요한 모든 것이 말씀 안에 있습니다. 말씀을 무시하지 마십시오.

말씀을 무시한다면 당신은 스스로를 실패와 불필요한 고난을 겪게 만드는 것입니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다. “진리를 알지니 진리가 너희를 자유롭게 하리라”(요8:32) 잠언 11:9은 말합니다. “…의인은 그의 지식으로 말미암아 구원을 얻느니라.” 또한 사도행전 20:32은 말합니다. “지금 내가 여러분을 주와 및 그 은혜의 말씀에 부탁하노니 그 말씀이 여러분을 능히 든든히 세우사 거룩하게 하심을 입은 모든 자 가운데 기업이 있게 하시리라”(행20:32)

하나님의 말씀에 대한 지식을 얼마나 가지고 있는지가 중요합니다. 베드로후서 1:3은 말합니다. “그의 신기한 능력으로 생명과 경건에 속한 모든 것을 우리에게 주셨으니 이는 자기의 영광과 덕으로써 우리를 부르신 이를 앎으로 말미암음이라.”

당신은 하나님에 대해 얼마나 잘 알고 있습니까? 이것이 당신이 번영, 영광, 다스림, 그리고 승리의 영역에서 얼마나 누릴 수 있는지를 결정합니다. 당신이 신성한 삶을 위해 필요로 하거나 바라는 것들은 이미 그리스도 안에 있습니다. 하지만 이를 당신의 삶에서 효과적으로 나타내는 것은 그분에 대한 당신의 지식에 달려있습니다.

여기서 베드로가 명시한 지식은 “에피그노시스(그리스어)”, 즉 완전하고 정확한 지식입니다. 매일 시간을 내어 하나님의 말씀을 공부하고, 듣고, 묵상하십시오. 당신의 영과 혼과 생각을 말씀으로 충만하게 하십시오. 말씀이 말한대로 “그리스도의 말씀이 너희 속에 풍성히 거하게”(골3:16) 하십시오. 그 결과는 점점 증가하는 은혜, 계속 깊어지는 교제, 계속 증가하는 영광, 끝없는 성공과 모든 면에서 번영하는 삶입니다.

기도

사랑하는 하늘에 계신 아버지, 내 안에 풍성히 거하시는 아버지의 말씀에 관한 지식에 감사합니다. 이 말씀은 나를 믿음과 다스림과 영광과 능력 가운데 행하도록 만들어줍니다. 당신의 말씀의 계시 지식을 통해 나는 영원한 승리 가운데 지금 그리고 영원히 살아가며 기능합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge… “Hosea 4:6).

Two striking things are revealed to us in our theme verse: the first is the fact that God’s people can be destroyed and the second is the reason it’s possible for them to be destroyed, which is their lack of knowledge of God’s Word. The ignorance of God’s Word is such a terrible thing. Jesus said to the Jews, “You err, because you don’t know the Scriptures” (Matthew 22:29).

This helps us further understand why the Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The solution to every problem, the answer to every question, and everything you’d ever require in life are all in the Word. Don’t ignore the Word.

To ignore the Word is to set yourself up for failure and unnecessary hardships in life. Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Proverbs 11:9 says, “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” Acts 20:32 says, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

It’s about your knowledge of God’s Word. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”

How much and how well do you know Him? That’s what’s going to determine how far you go—your prosperity, glory, dominion and victories in life. The things you require or desire for a godly life are already yours in Christ. But the way to make them effectual in your life is a function of your knowledge of Him.

The knowledge Peter writes about is full, exact knowledge—“epignosis” (Greek). Spend time every day, studying, listening to, and meditating on the Word of God. Inundate your spirit, soul and mind with the Word. As the Scripture says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16). The result will be a life of ever-increasing grace, everincreasing relevance, ever-increasing glory, unending success and all-round prosperity.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the knowledge of your Word that dwells in me richly, causing me to walk in faith, dominion, glory and power. Through the revelation knowledge of your Word, I live and function in absolute victory, now and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

주께서 호령과 천사장의 소리와 하나님의 나팔 소리로 친히 하늘로부터 강림하시리니 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고 그 후에 우리 살아남은 자들도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니 그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라 그러므로 이러한 말로 서로 위로하라 (살전4:16-18)

제가 주님의 재림과 교회의 휴거를 얼마나 기다리고 있는지요! 당신도 그러길 바랍니다! 그분은 호령과 천사장의 소리와 나팔 소리와 함께 오십니다. 그분은 엄청난 환호성과 함께 오십니다. 할렐루야!

그것은 일반적인 외침이 아닐 것입니다. 그것은 너무나 큰 소리라서 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자, 곧 이제까지 죽은 모든 그리스도인이 그것을 듣고 다시 살아날 것입니다. 성경은 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자가 먼저 일어나고 그 다음에 우리 살아남은 자도 그들과 함께 공중에서 주님을 만나기 위해 끌어올려질 것이라고 말합니다. 그분은 공중에서 우리를 기다리실 것입니다. 그리고 성경은 이렇게 말합니다. ”그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라.”

이 외침은 요한복음 11장의 이야기를 생각나게 합니다. 예수님께서 큰소리로 부르시니 나사로라는 죽은 자가 무덤에서 나왔습니다. “이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니 죽은 자가 수족을 베로 동인 채로 나오는데 그 얼굴은 수건에 싸였더라 예수께서 이르시되 풀어 놓아 다니게 하라 하시니라”(요11:43-44).

예수님께서 나사로를 특정하여 이름을 부르지 아니하셨더라면, 모든 죽은 자가 그분의 외침을 듣고 무덤에서 나왔을 것입니다. 하지만 예수님께서는 구체적으로 “나사로야, 나오라” 명하셨습니다. 예수님은 다시 외치실 것입니다. 그리고 그분이 외치실 때, 죽기 전에 예수님을 위해 살았던 사람들과 지금 그분을 위해 살고 있는 우리들만이 교회의 휴거와 함께 그 소리를 들을 것입니다!

그 날이 오고 있습니다. 준비되셨습니까? 우리는 그 날을 위해 이 모든 일을 하고 있습니다! 이것이 우리가 말씀의 실재를 모든 언어로 제작하여 전 세계에 배포하는 이유입니다. 우리는 그분의 재림을 위해 열방을 준비하고 있습니다. 우리는 이 땅의 모든 남자, 여자, 소년, 소녀에게 복음을 전하기를 원합니다. “이 천국 복음이 모든 민족에게 증언되기 위하여 온 세상에 전파되리니 그제야 끝이 오리라”(마24:14)

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 우리 모두가 예수님을 보는 날이 얼마나 영광스러울지요! 성도들과 함께 이끌려 공중에서 주님을 만나는 특권을 주셔서 감사합니다. 나를 통해 그리스도께서 살아 계시며 영광스럽게 이 땅을 다스리십니다. 할렐루야!

HE’S COMING WITH A SHOUT

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words”(1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

How I look forward to the coming of the Lord, the Rapture of the Church! I hope you do too. His coming is with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump. He’s coming “with a bang.” Hallelujah!

This isn’t going to be an ordinary shout; it’s going to be so loud the dead in Christ—every Christian who ever died—will hear it and come back to life. The Bible says the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we that are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air; He’ll be waiting for us in the air. And the Bible says, “…so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

That shout reminds of a story in John 11; Jesus shouted and a dead man named Lazarus came out of the grave: “And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes…” (John 11:43-44).

If Jesus hadn’t singled out Lazarus, calling him by name, every dead person would have heard His shout and come out of the grave. But He was specific and said, “Lazarus, come forth!” He’s going to shout again, and when He does, only those who had lived for Him before they died and those of us living for Him now will hear it at the Rapture of the Church!

That day is coming; are you ready? That’s what all this is for! That’s why we’re producing and distributing Rhapsody of Realities to the whole world in every language: we’re preparing the nations for His return. We want to reach every man, woman, boy and girl on the face of the earth with the Gospel: “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14).

PRAYER

Dear Father, what a glorious day it’ll be when we all see Jesus! I earnestly look forward to being caught up together with the saints to meet the Lord in the air. Christ lives and reigns gloriously in the earth through me. Hallelujah!

PRAYER ISN’T THE “LAZY MAN’S WAY”

“모든 기도와 간구를 하되 항상 성령 안에서 기도하고 이를 위하여 깨어 구하기를 항상 힘쓰며 여러 성도를 위하여 구하라”(엡6:18)

어떤 사람이 “기도를 너무 많이”하는 사람에 대해 불평하는 것을 본 적이 있습니까? 그들은 오랜 시간 기도하는 사람이 아무것도 하지 않는 사람이라고 생각합니다. 그래서 그들은 기도하는 사람을 “기도만 하는” 사람이라고 비웃습니다. 아닙니다. 당신은 기도할 때 “실제로 어떤 일을” 하고 있습니다.

기도의 능력과 영적인 영역을 이해하지 못하는 사람들은 기도가 게으른 사람의 방식이라고 생각합니다. 18세기의 위대한 사역자 존 웨슬리는 이렇게 말했습니다. “우리가 기도하지 않는다면 하나님께서는 아무 일도 행하지 않으실 것입니다.” 그는 자신과 다른 사람들이 기도할 때 자신의 삶과 사역과 사회에서 변화가 일어나는 것을 보았기 때문에 그렇게 말할 수 있었습니다.

우리가 기도하지 않고는 결코 볼 수 없는 많은 결과들이 있습니다. 기도는 하나님이 우리와 교제하시는 방식입니다. 그분께서는 우리에게 기도하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 기도하셨고, 또 우리에게 기도하는 법을 가르쳐 주셨습니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다 “…항상 기도하고 낙심하지 말아야 할 것을…”(눅18:1). 예수님은 왜 그렇게 많이 기도하셨습니까? 그분은 어둠의 세상에 사셨지만 사람들의 삶에 변화를 일으키셔야 했기 때문입니다. 그분이 매우 효과적이셨던 이유 중 하나는 기도입니다.

오늘날 세상에서 일어나는 많은 일들에 대해 우리가 할 수 있는 게 없다고 생각해서는 안 됩니다. 우리가 할 수 있는 일들이 있습니다. 모든 그리스도인은 실제로 변화를 일으킬 수 있습니다. 패배감으로 가득 차서 “내가 할 수 있는 일은 그저 기도하는 것뿐이야”라고 말하지 마십시오. 우리는 그저 기도만 하는 것이 아닙니다. 우리는 기도를 통해 확실한 변화를 일으킬 수 있습니다.

하나님은 한 번도 우리에게 하나의 종교 행위로서 기도하라고 말씀하신 적이 없습니다. 하나님은 상황이 우리의 유익을 위해 변화하도록 기도하라고 말씀하셨습니다.

예수님께서 하신 말씀을 기억하십시오. “오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고”(행1:8). 그 힘은 변화를 일으키는 역동적인 능력이며, 지금 당신 안에 있습니다. 그러므로 다음에 기도할 때는 아무리 급한 일이더라도 기도로 시간을 낭비하고 있다고 생각을 하지 마십시오. 오히려 당신은 그 상황을 감당하기 위한 하나님의 영의 능력을 가져오는 것입니다.

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 나에게 기도의 특권을 주셔서 감사합니다. 기도는 내가 하나님의 편에 서서, 당신의 뜻을 땅에서 집행하며 환경과 사탄과 그의 어둠의 무리를 다스리게 합니다. 성령 안에서 기도할 수 있는 축복에 감사합니다. 나는 당신의 온전한 뜻을 따라 기도하고 모든 상황에서 성령의 능력을 나타냅니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

PRAYER ISN’T THE “LAZY MAN’S WAY”

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”(Ephesians 6:18).

Have you ever heard anyone complain about someone who “prays too much”? They think that spending a lot of time in prayer is doing nothing, so they deride someone who prays often and term him or her as one who “does nothing but pray.” You’re actually “doing something” when you pray.

Those who don’t understand the power in prayer and don’t understand the spirit realm are the ones who think that prayer is the lazy man’s way. John Wesley, a great minister in the 18th century, once said, “It appears God will do nothing except we pray.” He made this important statement because he observed that changes took place in his life and ministry and in the society when he and others prayed.

There’re lots of results we’ll never see except we pray. It’s God’s way of relating with us; He asked us to do it. Jesus prayed and taught us to pray. He said, “…Men ought always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). Why did He pray so much? It’s because He was living in a world of darkness and needed to effect changes in men’s lives. It’s one of the reasons He was so effective.

With so much going on in our world today, we should never think we’re helpless. There’s something we can do. Any Christian can actually effect changes. Don’t be like the person who says with a note of defeat, “All I can do is just pray.” No. We don’t just pray. In our praying, we’re definite enough to make definite changes. God never told us to “just pray” as a form of religion. He told us to pray so that things can be changed to our advantage.

Remember what Jesus said: “You shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you” (Acts 1:8). That power is the dynamic ability to cause changes and it’s in you now. So, when next you take up a matter in prayer, no matter how urgent it is, don’t for a second think you’re wasting time by praying. Instead, be conscious that you’re bringing the power of the Spirit of God to bear on that situation.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege of prayer, which gives me the opportunity to side with you and enforce your will in the earth, exercise dominion over circumstances, Satan, and his cohorts of darkness. Thank you for the blessing of praying in the Spirit, thus, praying according to your perfect will and bringing the power of the Spirit to bear in every situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

평강의 하나님

THE GOD OF PEACE

“평강의 하나님께서 너희 모든 사람과 함께 계실지어다 아멘”(롬15:33)

구약에서는 하나님을 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱의 하나님이라 부르는 경우가 많았습니다. 그러나 신약, 특히 서신서에서 하나님은 누구보다 평강의 하나님으로 불리십니다. 하나님은 사랑의 하나님 또는 의의 하나님이라는 이름보다 평강의 하나님으로 더 자주 불리셨습니다. 빌립보서 4:9에서도 이를 확인할 수 있습니다. “…평강의 하나님이 너희와 함께 계시리라”. 또한 데살로니가전서 5:23은 말합니다. “평강의 하나님이 친히 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고…”

“평강”라는 단어는 그리스어 “이레니(Eirēnē)”에서 비롯되었으며 이는 히브리어 “샬롬(Shalom)”과 유사한 뜻을 가지고 있습니다. 이 단어는 번영과 함께 온 평강을 뜻합니다. 이것이 모든 사람을 향한 하나님의 꿈입니다. 천사들이 누가복음 2:14에서 이렇게 선언한 것이 당연합니다. “지극히 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요 땅에서는 하나님이 기뻐하신 사람들 중에 평화로다 하니라.” 생각해보십시오. 하나님께서 우리와 그분 사이에 화평을 주셨습니다. “그러므로 우리가 믿음으로 의롭다 하심을 받았으니 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님과 화평을 누리자”(롬5:1).

오늘날 세계의 일부 지역에서 나타나는 혼돈은 우연히 발생하지 않았습니다. 이런 상황은 혼돈 속에서 무성해지는 혼돈의 마귀에게서 비롯되었습니다. 그들은 혼돈을 도구로 인간을 숙주로 삼아 그들의 악한 계략들을 자행하고, 그들이 원하는 것에 사람들이 굴복할 때까지 그 악행을 지속합니다. 하지만 하나님은 평강을 원하십니다. 또한 우리에게 이방인들에게 평강을 선포하라고 말씀하십니다.

모든 사람을 위해 기도하라고 말씀하셨을 때 그분의 의도는 우리가 경건하고 평안한 삶을 사는 것입니다 (딤전 2:1-2). 그분께서 우리에게 원하시는 것은 평안한 삶입니다. 그분은 항상 평강의 편이십니다. 지금 당신의 도시와 국가에 평강을 명하십시오. 능력의 주 예수님의 이름으로 경건한 평강이 당신의 나라를 다스리고 그 평강이 자유, 은혜, 힘, 건강 그리고 번영을 가져오기를 명하십시오.

기도

의로우신 아버지, 당신은 평강의 하나님이십니다. 나는 당신의 평강을 우리나라에 선포합니다. 모든 이해를 뛰어넘고 자유, 은혜, 힘, 건강 그리고 번영을 가져오는 당신의 평강이 모든 나라를 다스릴 것을 예수 이름으로 선포합니다. 아멘.

THE GOD OF PEACE

“Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen”(Romans 15:33).

In the Old Testament, God was often called the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. However, in the New Testament, particularly in the epistles, God is known, more than anything else, as the God of peace. He’s called the God of peace more than He’s called the God of love or the God of righteousness. We see this referenced in Philippians 4:9: “…the God of peace shall be with you,” and in 1 Thessalonians 5:23: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly….”

The word “peace” is from the Greek “Eirēnē”, which is akin to “Shalom” in Hebrew; it’s peace with prosperity. This is God’s desire for all men. No wonder the angels declared in Luke 2:14: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Think about it! He brought peace between us and Him: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

The chaos experienced in some parts of the world today didn’t happen by chance. They were inspired by demons of chaos who thrive in chaos. They use chaos as a tool for perpetrating their nefarious schemes through their human hosts and keep at it until people bow to their wishes. But God wants peace and tells us to proclaim peace to the nations.

In the prayer He tells us to pray for all men, His intent is that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life (1 Timothy 2:1-2). That’s what He wants us to have. He’s always about peace. Even now, command peace for your city and your country. Declare in the mighty Name of the Lord Jesus that godly peace that brings liberty, grace, strength, health and prosperity will hold sway in your nation. 

PRAYER

Righteous Father, you’re the God of peace, and I proclaim your peace upon my nation. Your peace, which passes all understanding and brings liberty, grace, strength, health and prosperity holds sway in all nations, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

하나님께서 보내신 사랑의 선물

GOD’S LOVE-PACKAGE

“내가 아버지의 이름을 그들에게 알게 하였고 또 알게 하리니 이는 나를 사랑하신 사랑이 그들 안에 있고 나도 그들 안에 있게 하려 함이니이다”(요17:26)

예수님께서 당신에게 영감을 주십니까? 성경에 기록된 그분에 관한 내용을 읽어본다면 당신은 영감을 받을 것입니다. 갈릴리에서 태어난 그분의 입술에서 영광스러운 말이 쏟아졌습니다. 그분은 너무나 자비롭게 말씀하셔서 그분을 체포하러 간 관리들도 이렇게 말했습니다. “그 사람이 말하는 것처럼 말한 사람은 이 때까지 없었나이다!”(요7:46)

항상 사람들은 예수님의 주위에 모여 그분의 말씀을 들었습니다. 한번은 광야에서 사흘 동안 그분과 함께 있었고 음식이 떨어질 때까지 집에 가는 것을 까맣게 잊어버렸습니다. 그러나 아무도 배고프다고 불평하지 않았습니다. 그들은 그저 예수님과 함께 있는 것으로 만족했습니다. 예수님께서 그들에게 무엇을 주셨기에 그랬습니까? 그분은 말씀의 주님이셨습니다. 하나님께 영광 돌립니다!

나사렛 사람의 몸 안에 갇히셨으나, 그분은 온 천하를 창조하신 하나님의 말씀이셨습니다. “태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라”(요1:1-3). 또한 히브리서 1:1-2은 말합니다. “전에는 선지자들을 통하여 우리 조상들에게 여러 번에 걸쳐 다양한 방법으로 말씀하신 하나님께서 이 마지막 날들에 그의 아들을 통하여 우리에게 말씀하셨으니, 이 아들을 만물의 상속자로 세우시고 또 그를 통하여 그분께서 세상들을 지으셨느니라.”(히1:1-2, 한글킹제임스)

예수 그리스도께서 세상들을 지으셨습니다! 그저 행성들과 은하계에 대해 말하는 것이 아닙니다. 그분께서는 사람들의 인생의 때와 시기도 만드셨습니다. 요한복음 1:14은 말합니다. “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매…” 예수님을 송축합니다! 우주를 창조하신 그 말씀이 우리를 사랑하시려고 육신을 입고 오셨습니다. 이것에 대해 어떻게 설명할 수 있겠습니까?

성경이 “…하나님은 사랑이시라”(요일 4:8)라고 말하는 것은 당연합니다. 사랑은 그분의 본성이며 그분은 사랑의 표현이십니다. 하나님의 사랑은 그리스도 예수 안에 담겨 우리에게 왔습니다! 제가 예수님을 얼마나 사랑하는지요! 예수님은 하늘의 빛과 아름다움, 하나님의 영광의 빛이자 찬란함이시며, 하나님의 빛의 광채이십니다. 예수 그리스도는 이런 분이십니다! 할렐루야!

기도

주 예수님, 당신은 정말 위대하고 귀한 분이십니다. 나를 향한 당신의 아낌없는 사랑의 표현에 감사합니다. 나는 오직 한 분이신 참된 하나님 안에서 완전합니다. 주님께 영광 돌립니다. 나는 영원한 영광의 왕이신 당신을 경배합니다. 나는 내 안에서 역사하시는 당신의 은혜를 인식하고 귀하게 여깁니다. 주님께서는 나를 그분의 영광이자 의로 만드셨습니다. 나는 주님을 영원히 사랑합니다. 아멘.

GOD’S LOVE-PACKAGE

“And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them”(John 17:26).

Does Jesus inspire you? If you read about Him in the Scriptures, you’ll surely be inspired. Glorious words came out of the lips of this man of Galilee. He spoke words so gracious that even the officers who were sent to arrest Him testified, “…No man ever spoke like this Man” (John 7:46 WEB).

Always, people gathered around Him to hear Him. Once, they were with Him for three days in the desert and didn’t remember to go home until their food was exhausted. Yet, no one complained of hunger; they were just content to be with Jesus. What was He giving them? Words! He was a Master of words. Glory to God!

Though encapsulated in the body of a Jewish man from Nazareth, Jesus was the Word of God that created the whole world: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:1-3). The Bible also says in Hebrews 1:1-2, “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past untothe fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.”

Jesus Christ made the worlds! This isn’t just talking about the planets and the galaxies; He also made the times and the seasons of men’s lives. John 1:14 says, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us….” Blessed Jesus! The Word that created the universe came in a body to love us. How can you explain that!

No wonder the Bible says, “…God is love” (1 John 4:8). That’s His nature; He’s the description of love. The love of God is packaged in Christ Jesus! How I love Jesus! He’s the light and the beauty of Heaven, the brightness and the effulgence of God’s glory, the out-shining and out-ray of God’s light; that’s Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Lord Jesus, how great and precious you are! Thank you for lavishly demonstrating your love for me. How glorious it is to know that I’m complete in you, the only true God. I worship you, eternal King of glory. I acknowledge and appreciate your grace at work in me. You’ve made me your glory and righteousness, and I love you forever. Amen.

“THE LAST TRUMP”

마지막 나팔에 순식간에 홀연히 다 변화되리니 나팔 소리가 나매 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나고 우리도 변화되리라 (고전15:51-52)

어느 날 누군가 이렇게 물었습니다. “마지막 나팔소리가 무엇입니까? 요한계시록에 나오는 일곱 나팔 후에 불리는 것인가요?” 아닙니다. 이것은 다른 나팔이며, 이 내용을 이해하려면 문맥을 분석해 볼 필요가 있습니다. 당신이 오늘의 본문 구절의 앞 몇 구절을 읽어본다면, 바울이 지속적으로 이중적인 의미를 말하고 있음을 알 수 있습니다.

바울은 여러 구절에 걸쳐 영적인 것과 자연적인 것, 그리고 하늘의 것과 땅에 속한 것에 관해 썼습니다. 또한 그는 ‘처음과 나중’, 다음으로는 ‘첫째와 둘째’라는 용어를 사용했습니다. “그러므로 기록된바, 첫 사람 아담은 살아 있는 혼이 되었더라, 함과 같이 마지막 아담은 살려주는 영이 되셨느니라. … 첫 사람은 땅에서 나서 땅에 속하거니와 둘째 사람은 하늘로부터 나신 주시니라.”(고전15:45-47, 한글킹제임스) 

이 문맥에서 보면 바울은 “마지막”과 “둘째”를 동일한 의미로 여겼습니다. 따라서 우리가 같은 의미로 오늘의 본문 구절을 읽는다면 다음과 같습니다. “두 번째 나팔에 순식간에 홀연히 …” 이는 많은 사람들이 생각하는 것처럼 하나의 나팔이 아니라 두 개의 나팔이 있음을 의미합니다.

이 구절의 확대번역본은 이를 확실하게 입증합니다. “마지막 나팔(the last trumpet)소리가 날 때 눈 깜짝할 사이에 순식간에 다 변화되리라. 나팔(a trumpet)이 소리가 나매 [그리스도 안에서] 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 일어나고…” 많은 사람들은 바울이 동일한 나팔에 대해 얘기하고 있다고 생각했기에 이 사실을 놓쳤습니다. 이것이 왜 중요합니까?

구약은 우리에게 중요한 두 나팔을 알려줍니다. 첫번째 나팔은 주님이 나타나실 때 불었으며, 두번째 나팔은 회중을 위해 불었습니다. 첫번째는 하나님의 영광을 나타내기 위해, 두번째 나팔은 사람들을 불러 모으기 위해 분 것입니다. 휴거 때 첫번째 나팔이 울리면, 주 예수님께서 하늘로부터 강림하실 것이며, 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자가 썩지 않은 채 일어날 것입니다.

두번째이자 마지막 나팔은 살아 남아있는 우리 모두를 불러 모을 것입니다. 그 나팔 소리가 나면 우리는 변화되어 공중에서 주님을 영접할 것입니다. 주님의 임박한 재림을 준비하십시오. 더 위대한 복음전파를 위해 힘을 내십시오. 더 많은 사람들에게 다가가며 그들과 함께 마지막 나팔 소리에 공중에서 주님을 만날 준비를 하십시오. 그것이 얼마나 영광스러운 만남이 될 지 상상해 보십시오! 할렐루야!

기도

사랑하는 아버지, 전 세계에 복음을 전하고 수많은 사람들을 구원에 이르도록 당신의 자녀들에게 아낌없이 허락하신 초자연적인 능력과 속도에 감사드립니다. 오늘 우리는 당신의 말씀의 빛 가운데 걷습니다. 우리는 그 무엇보다도 당신의 왕국이 이 세상과 사람들의 마음에 세워지는 것을 원합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

“THE LAST TRUMP”

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed”(1 Corinthians 15:52).

Someone once asked me, “What’s the last trump? Will it be blown after the seven trumpets in the Book of Revelation?” No, this is a different trumpet, and to understand it requires a contextual analysis. When you read through some of the preceding verses in the same 1 Corinthians 15, you’ll observe a consistency of duality in Paul’s communication.

In several verses, he wrote about the spiritual and the natural, the celestial and the terrestrial. He also used the terms, “the first and the last,” and then “the first and the second”: “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit….The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven (1 Corinthians 15:45-47).

In this context, Paul considered “last” to mean “second.” So if we read our opening verse by the same token, it would go thus: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the second trump….” This means there’re two trumpets, not one like many people think.

The Amplified Classic version of the verse corroborates this: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will beraised imperishable….” Many missed it because they thought he was talking about the same trumpet. Why is this important? 

In the Old Testament, the Bible tells us about two important trumpets. The first one was sounded when the Lord showed up, and the second was sounded for the assembly. The first was for the manifestation of God’s glory, while the second was for gathering the assembly. When the first trumpet sounds at the Rapture, the Lord Jesus will come out of heaven, and the dead in Christ will be raised incorruptible. 

The second and last trumpet is the one that’ll assemble all of us who are alive and remain. When it sounds, we’ll be changed and caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Prepare for the Master’s soon return. Brace up for greater evangelism so that we can reach more people and get them ready to meet the Lord in the air at the sound of the last trumpet. Imagine what a glorious meeting it’ll be! Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the supernatural ability and speed you’ve so lavishly granted your children to preach the Gospel and lead multitudes to salvation all around the world. We walk in the light of your Word today, seeking, above all, the rule and reign of your Kingdom in the earth and in the hearts of men, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THE DAY OF CHRIST

“영으로나 말로나 또는 우리에게서 받았다고 하는 편지로나 그리스도의 날이 가까웠다고 마음이 쉽게 흔들리거나 두려워해서는 안 될 것이라.”(살후2:2, 한글킹제임스)

오늘 본문구절에서 있는 “그리스도의 날”이라는 표현을 두고 많은 사람들이 이를 “마지막 날”로 잘못 생각합니다. 교회의 휴거, 그리스도의 재림, 그리고 그리스도의 날에는 모두 차이가 있습니다. 그리스도의 날은 심판으로 시작하는 천년왕국을 의미합니다. 이는 요한계시록 20:11에 나타난 크고 흰 보좌의 심판이나 고린도후서 5:10의 그리스도의 심판석을 뜻하지 않습니다. 그리스도의 날은 그리스도의 재림 때 원수들을 향한 심판입니다. 이는 예수님의 천년왕국의 통치 바로 직전에 나타납니다.

이 특별한 날에 주 예수님께서는 하늘로부터 나타나실 것입니다. 예수님이 세상을 다스리러 오실 것입니다. 그분이 나타나실 때, 종말에 이른 세상은 즉시 예수님과 그분의 성도들을 대적하여 연합할 것입니다. 하지만 원수들과 그분을 대적한 모두는 멸망할 것입니다. “그리고 내가 왕 됨을 원하지 아니하던 저 원수들을 이리로 끌어다가 내 앞에서 죽이라 하였느니라”(눅19:27). 또한 데살로니가후서 1:7-9은 말합니다. “…예수께서 자기의 능력의 천사들과 함께 하늘로부터 불꽃 가운데에 나타나실 때에 하나님을 모르는 자들과 우리 주 예수의 복음에 복종하지 않는 자들에게 형벌을 내리시리니 이런 자들은 주의 얼굴과 그의 힘의 영광을 떠나 영원한 멸망의 형벌을 받으리로다.”

그러나 성경은 이 위대한 그리스도의 날이 오기 전에 배교가 있을 것이라고 말합니다. 그리스도인이라고 고백했던 많은 이들이 믿음으로부터 멀어질 것입니다. “누가 어떻게 하여도 너희가 미혹되거나 속지 않도록 하라 그 날이 이르기 전 먼저 배교하는 일이 있고…”(살후2:3) 어떤 것이 이와 같은 배교를 야기시키겠습니까?

바로 이 세상의 염려입니다. 재물의 유혹과 향락을 향한 욕망입니다. 그렇기 때문에 성경은 “이 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하지 말라…”(요일2:15)고 말합니다. 그리스도의 날이 가까울수록 당신이 넘어지지 않도록 그분 안에서 더욱 강건한 삶을 사는 것이 중요합니다.

세상의 것을 고수하지 마십시오. 당신의 초점을 주님께 두십시오. 그리고 그분께서 하늘로부터 나타나실 그 날에 초점을 맞추십시오. 우리 모두는 그분과 영원히 함께 하기 위해 그분께로 모일 것입니다. 그날은 얼마나 좋은 날이 될까요!

그리스도의 사랑, 그분의 말씀, 그분의 임박한 재림에 대한 기대가 내 삶을 이끌어갑니다. 나는 그분의 의로 지어졌으며, 영 안에서 깨어 있습니다. 오늘 내가 많은 사람들에게 복음을 전할 때, 그들은 어둠에서 나와 하나님의 아들들의 영광스러운 자유 안으로 들어갑니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

THE DAY OF CHRIST

“That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand”(2 Thessalonians 2:2).

The expression, “the Day of Christ”, in our opening verse is wrongly assumed by many to generally mean “the last days.” There’s a difference between the Rapture of the Church, the Second Coming of Christ, and the Day of Christ. The Day of Christ refers to the millennium that begins with judgment. This isn’t the Great White Throne judgment in Revelation 20:11 or the Judgment Seat of Christ in 2 Corinthians 5:10. No! It’s the judgment of His enemies at His second coming, just before He sets up His millennial reign.

On that special day, the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven; He’ll come to rule in this world. At His appearing, the world, being at the Armageddon, will immediately unite against Him and the saints with Him, but these enemies will be destroyed, and all who reject Him: “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me” (Luke 19:27). 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 also says, “…the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.”

However, before that great day of Christ, the Bible says there’ll be an apostasy: many who professed to be Christians will fall away from the faith: “Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first…” (2 Thessalonians 2:3 AMPC). What could bring about such a thing?

It’s the cares of this world: the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust for its pleasures. That’s why the Bible says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…” (1 John 2:15). It’s important that as the coming of the Lord approaches, you live your life stronger and stronger in Him so that you don’t fall away. 

Don’t cling to the things of the world. Let your focus be on the Master and on that day when He shall be revealed from heaven. We all will be gathered unto Him to be with Him always. What a day that will be! 

CONFESSION

My life is guided by Christ’s love, His Word, and my expectation of His imminent return. I’m established in His righteousness, awake and alert in the spirit. Through me, many today are brought out of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God as I minister the Gospel to them, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
