“빛이 어둠에 비치되 어둠이 깨닫지 못하더라”(요 1:5)
사도 요한은 요한복음 1장에서 성육신 한 말씀에 대한 계시를 줍니다. 그는 그분(말씀)이 세상에 계셨지만 세상이 그분을 알지 못했다고 설명합니다. 요한은 하나님의 말씀이 생명이었다고 분명하게 선포합니다. 그리고 그 빛은 사람들의 빛이었습니다!
그는 요한복음 1:5에서 계속해서 설명합니다. “빛이 어둠이 비치되 어둠이 깨닫지 못하더라.” 여기에서 “깨닫다”라는 단어는 그리스어 “카탈람바노(katalambano)”에서 유래했으며 장악하다, 획득하다, 혹은 이기다 라는 의미입니다. 그러므로 빛이 어둠에 비치면 어둠은 그 힘을 얻을 수 없습니다. 어둠은 이기거나 장악할 수 없습니다.
어둠은 빛의 신비를 붙잡거나 이해할 수 없었습니다. 어둠은 빛을 압도하거나 이길 수 없었고 여전히 그렇습니다! 당신은 방에 불을 켰는데도 어둠이 너무 짙어서 빛이 희미해진 것을 본 적이 있습니까? 그런 일은 절대 일어날 수 없습니다! 어둠이 얼마나 짙든지 상관없이 어둠은 빛을 이길 수 없습니다. 빛이 약하거나 깜박거릴지라도 어둠은 사라져야 합니다.
이는 예수님이 “너희는 세상의 빛이라…”(마 5:14)고 말씀하셨을 때 당신이 어떤 존재인지를 이해하는데 도움이 될 것입니다. 그분은 그리스도인으로서 당신의 부르심에 대해 이야기하신 것이며, 당신은 반드시 이 진리를 의식해야 합니다. 당신은 자신의 세상과 자신이 영향력을 끼치는 영역에서 어둠을 밝히도록 부름 받았습니다. 당신은 어둠이 이길 수 없는 그 빛입니다.
당신은 학생이나 보안 요원, 변호사, 은행원, 의사, 혹은 과학자일 수 있습니다. 당신은 자신이 일하고 있는 지역사회의 빛입니다. 만일 어떤 사람을 둘러싸고 있는 어둠이 너무 짙다면, 그에게 해결책을 줄 수 있는 사람은 바로 당신입니다. 당신은 그 영역에 필요한 해결책을 주는데 재능이 있고 초자연적인 아이디어로 가득 채울 수 있는 빛입니다.
오늘 당신의 세상을 비추십시오. “이같이 너희 빛이 사람들 앞에 비치게 하여 그들이 너희의 도덕적 탁월함과 칭찬받을 만한, 고귀한, 착한 행실을 보게 하고, 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지를 인식하고, 공경하고, 찬양하고, 영화롭게 하게 하라.”(마 5:16, AMPC)
고백
내가 있는 모든 곳에서 그리고 내가 하는 모든 일에서 내 빛은 세상이 볼 수 있을 정도로 빛나고 있습니다. 나는 내 세상에 하나님의 영광을 공개적으로 나타내고, 예수 이름으로 어둠의 일을 없애고, 몰아내고, 쫓아냅니다. 아멘.

The Mystery Of Lights
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (John 1:5).
The Apostle John gave us the revelation of the incarnate Word. He describes how He (the Word) was in the world, but the world knew Him not.
He unequivocally declares that God’s Word is life; that life being the light of men!
In the fifth verse, he continues, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” The word translated “comprehend” is the Greek, “katalamban?”; it means to seize, to attain, and also, to overcome. Thus, the light shines in darkness and the darkness couldn’t attain to its power; it couldn’t overcome, nor seize it.
The darkness couldn’t take a hold of, or comprehend the mystery of lights. The darkness couldn’t overpower or overcome light, and still hasn’t! Have you ever turned on the light in a room and the darkness was so thick that it caused the light to recede? That can never happen! Even if the light is small or a mere flicker, the darkness has to pull apart.
This should help you understand who you are when Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world…”
(Matthew 5:14). He was talking about your calling as a Christian, and you must become conscious of this truth. You’re called to light up the darkness in your world, in your sphere of influence; you’re that light that darkness can’t comprehend.
Perhaps you’re a student, a security guard, a lawyer, a banker, doctor or scientist; you’re the light in your community of practice. If there’s so much darkness surrounding a subject, you’re the one to proffer answers. You’re the light in that field, imbued with supernatural ideas and genius for the solutions needed.
Light up your world today: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 AMPC).
CONFESSION
Everywhere I am, and in all that I do, my light shines with so much intensity for the world to see. I openly manifest the glory of God in my world, dispelling, ousting, and expelling darkness and all of the works thereof, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
