참된 복음의 의미
What The Gospel Truly Is
“내가 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라 먼저는 유대인에게요 그리고 헬라인에게로다”(롬 1:16)
누군가가 예수님을 믿으면서도 복음이 무엇인지 진정으로 이해하지 못할 수 있습니다. 이것이 사도 바울이 로마의 그리스도인들에게 편지를 쓰면서 “내가 로마에 있는 너희에게도 복음 전하기를 원하노라”라고 말한 이유입니다. 그들은 그리스도인이었지만, 바울은 여전히 그들에게 복음을 전할 필요가 있었습니다.
이것은 당신에게 중요한 무언가를 알려줍니다. 복음은 단순히 예수 그리스도를 알리는 것 이상입니다. 복음은 반드시 이해되어야 하는 계시입니다. 많은 사람이 복음을 전한다고 말하지만, 그리스도의 이름으로 말하는 모든 것이 복음인 것은 아닙니다. 복음은 명확한 내용, 명확한 능력, 명확한 목적을 가지고 있습니다.
바울은 이것을 정확하게 정의합니다. “이 복음은 구원에 이르게 하는 하나님의 능력이다” 이는 복음이 단순한 메시지가 아니라는 것을 의미합니다. 복음은 역사하는 하나님의 능력, 즉 믿는 모든 사람을 구원하고, 변화시키고, 구출하고, 의 안에 세우시는 하나님의 역동적인 능력입니다. 하나님의 능력을 경험하고 싶다면 복음을 이해해야 합니다. 복음 안에 하나님의 능력이 계시되어 있기 때문입니다.
그 다음, 더 깊은 진리가 등장합니다. “복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서…”(롬 1:17) 하나님의 의는 복음 안에서 드러납니다. 사람이 복음을 이해하지 못하면 이 의를 진정으로 알 수 없습니다. 많은 사람이 하나님과 올바른 관계를 맺기를 원하지만, 그것을 드러내는 복음을 이해하지 못합니다.
그것이 바로 우리가 나서야 하는 이유입니다. 우리가 복음을 전파하고 가르칠 때, 사람에게서 온 것이 아니라 하나님께로부터 온 하나님의 의가 드러납니다. 이 의는 당신을 하나님과 올바른 관계로 만들고, 그분의 임재 안에서 담대함을 주며, 당신을 다스림 가운데 세웁니다.
또한 성경은 이 의가 “믿음으로 믿음에 이르게” 나타난다고 말합니다. “기록된 바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라”(롬 1:17) 이것은 점진적인 나타남을 의미합니다. 당신이 믿음 안에서 행할수록, 이 의는 당신의 삶에서 더욱 분명히 나타나게 됩니다. 이것이 바로 이 의를 받은 사람의 삶입니다. 믿음으로 다스려지고, 믿음으로 유지되며, 믿음을 통해 표현되는 삶입니다.
그렇다면 복음은 무엇입니까? 복음은 단순히 예수님의 이야기가 아닙니다. 예수님의 죽음과 장사와 부활에 대한 선포만도 아닙니다. 복음은 예수님의 죽음과 장사와 부활이 성취한 것에 대한 계시입니다. 복음은 하나님의 의에 대한 계시입니다. 사람이 행위가 아니라 믿음으로 하나님과 올바른 관계를 맺는 방법에 대한 계시입니다. 다음 말씀의 실재에서 더 나누도록 하겠습니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 구원에 이르게 하는 하나님의 능력인 그리스도의 복음에 감사드립니다. 나의 이해가 밝아져 복음 안에 나타난 의를 압니다. 나는 이 의를 인식하며 행하고, 믿음으로 삽니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

WHAT THE GOSPEL TRULY IS
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” (Romans 1:16).
It’s possible for someone to believe in Jesus and yet not truly understand what the Gospel is. This is why the Apostle Paul, writing to Christians in Rome, said, “I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.” These were Christians, yet he still needed to preach the Gospel to them.
That tells you something profound: the Gospel is more than the mere announcement of Jesus Christ; it’s a revelation that must be understood. Many say they’re preaching the Gospel, but not everything said in the name of Christ is the Gospel. The Gospel has a definite content, a definite power, and a definite purpose.
Paul defines it clearly: “it is the power of God unto salvation.” That means the Gospel isn’t just a message; it is God’s power in operation—His dynamic ability to save, transform, deliver, and establish in righteousness everyone who believes. If you want to experience God’s power, you must understand the Gospel, because that’s where His power is revealed.
Then comes the deeper truth: “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed…” (Romans 1:17). The righteousness of God is unveiled in the Gospel. Until a man understands the Gospel, he cannot truly know this righteousness. Many desire to be right with God, but they don’t understand the Gospel that reveals it.
That’s where we come in. As we preach and teach the Gospel, the righteousness that is of God, one that comes from Him, not from man, is unveiled. This righteousness makes you right with God, gives you boldness in His presence, and establishes you in dominion.
Furthermore, the Bible says this righteousness is revealed “…from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17). This means it’s a progressive unveiling. The more you walk in faith, the more this righteousness becomes evident in your life. This is the life of the one who has received this righteousness—a life governed by faith, sustained by faith, and expressed through faith.
So, what is the Gospel? It’s not merely the story of Jesus. It’s not just the announcement of His death, burial, and resurrection. The Gospel is the unveiling of what His death, burial, and resurrection accomplished. It’s the revelation of God’s righteousness: how a man is made right with God, not by works, but by faith. We’ll learn more in our next study.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the Gospel of Christ, which is your power unto salvation. My understanding is enlightened to know the righteousness revealed in the Gospel. I walk in the consciousness of this righteousness and live by faith, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
