Discern The Source
“예수께서 돌이키시며 베드로에게 이르시되 사탄아 내 뒤로 물러 가라…”(마 16:23)
옳게 들리는 모든 것이 하나님께로부터 온 것은 아닙니다. 좋게 다가오는 모든 생각, 아이디어, 의견이 성령님의 감동으로 된 것은 아닙니다. 당신은 분별하는 법을 배워야 합니다. 예를 들어, 마태복음 16장에서 주 예수님께서 제자들에게 물으셨습니다. “너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐”(마 16:15)
베드로가 대답했습니다. “주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다”(마 16:16) 그러자 주님은 베드로에게 말씀하셨습니다. “바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라”(마 16:17)
그러나 얼마 후, 주 예수님께서 자신의 죽음에 대해 말씀하시기 시작하셨을 때, 베드로가 그분을 한쪽으로 데려가서 항변하며 “주여 그리 마옵소서 이 일이 결코 주께 미치지 아니하리이다”(마 16:22)라고 말했습니다. 다음에 무슨 일이 일어났는지 보십시오. 즉시 주님께서 “돌이키시며 베드로에게 이르시되 사탄아 내 뒤로 물러 가라 너는 나를 넘어지게 하는 자로다 네가 하나님의 일을 생각하지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다”(마 16:23)라고 말씀하셨습니다.
동일한 베드로였지만 한 순간에는 하나님으로부터 온 계시로 말하고 있었고, 바로 다음 순간에는 사탄이 그를 통해 말하고 있었습니다. 그러나 주 예수님은 베드로가 한 말들의 근원을 분별하셨습니다. 주님은 베드로를 한 사람으로 대하지 않으셨습니다. 그 근원을 향해 말씀하셨습니다. “사탄아 내 뒤로 물러가라”
이는 당신이 모든 말, 영감, 행동의 근원을 분별해야 한다는 뜻입니다. 당신이 말할 때, 그것은 항상 하나님으로부터 나온 것이어야 합니다. 당신의 생각은 항상 성령님으로부터 영감을 받아야 하며, 그래야 당신의 말이 하나님의 완전한 뜻과 일치하게 될 것입니다.
베드로는 개인적인 욕망에서 말했습니다. 그는 세상의 왕국을 원했습니다. 그는 지위를 원했습니다. 그는 자신에게 유리한 체제를 원했습니다. 염려처럼 들렸던 것은 사실 이기심이었습니다. 그러므로 들리는 대로 판단하지 마십시오. 성령으로 분별해야 합니다.
좋게 들리는 모든 말이나 감정적인 반응이 다 영적인 것은 아닙니다. 그래서 당신은 항상 성령으로 충만하고 하나님의 말씀이 당신 안에 풍성히 거하게 해야 합니다. 요한일서 4장 1절은 선포합니다. “사랑하는 자들아 영을 다 믿지 말고 오직 영들이 하나님께 속하였나 분별하라…” 데살로니가전서 5장 20-21절은 말씀(예언)을 멸시하지 말고 범사에 헤아려 좋은 것, 즉 덕을 세우는 것을 취하라고 말합니다. 다시 말해, 그 근원을 분별하라는 것입니다.

DISCERN THE SOURCE
“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan…” (Matthew 16:23).
Not everything that sounds right is from God. Not every thought, idea, or opinion that comes nicely is inspired by the Spirit. You must learn to discern. In Matthew 16, for example, the Lord Jesus asked His disciples, “…whom say ye that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).
Peter answered, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God…” (Matthew 16:16). Then the Lord said to Peter, “…Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17).
But shortly afterwards, when the Lord Jesus began to speak about His death, Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee (Matthew 16:22). Notice what happens next: immediately, the Lord “…turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men” (Matthew 16:23).
This was the same Peter; one moment, he was speaking by revelation from God, the next moment, Satan is speaking through him. But the Lord Jesus discerned the source of the words Peter spoke. He didn’t address Peter as a person; He addressed the source and said, “Get thee behind me, Satan.”
That means you must discern the source of every word, inspiration and action. When you speak, it should always be from God. Your thoughts should always be inspired by the Holy Spirit so that your words will synchronize with God’s perfect will.
Peter spoke from personal desire. He wanted an earthly kingdom. He wanted a position. He wanted a system that favoured him. What sounded like concern was actually self-interest. So, don’t judge things by how they sound; you’re to discern them by the Spirit.
Not every good-sounding word or emotional reaction is spiritual. That’s why you must stay filled with the Spirit and let the Word of God dwell in you richly. 1 John 4:1 declares, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God….” 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 tells us not to despise the Word (prophecies) but to test everything and hold fast to that which is good and edifies. In other words, discern the source.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for granting me spiritual discernment. I’m not led by appearances or emotions; I’m led by your Spirit. I recognize the source of thoughts and words, and I walk in alignment with your perfect will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
