은혜와 의
Grace And Righteousness
“한 사람의 범죄로 말미암아 사망이 그 한 사람을 통하여 왕 노릇 하였은즉 더욱 은혜와 의의 선물을 넘치게 받는 자들은 한 분 예수 그리스도를 통하여 생명 안에서 왕 노릇 하리로다” (롬 5:17)
하나님은 우리 삶을 향한 그분의 목적에 따라 우리에게 은혜를 주십니다. 그분의 은혜는 당신 안에서 역사하여 하나님께서 당신을 위해 계획하시고 부르신 일을 성취합니다. 그 은혜는 하나님의 계획에 따라 당신과 연결된 사람들에게 영향을 미치고 그들을 축복할 것입니다.
그러나 어떤 사람이 그 은혜의 영향력 안으로 부름을 받지 않았다면, 그들은 그 부르심을 받지 않았기 때문에 그 은혜를 받지 못할 수 있습니다. 그러나 의는 은혜와 다릅니다. 우리 모두는 동일한 의를 가지고 있습니다. 우리의 의는 예수 그리스도의 의이기 때문입니다. 우리는 그분의 의로 말미암아 의롭게 되었습니다.
우리 중 누구도 자신의 의를 근거로 하나님 앞에 설 수 없습니다. 우리 중 누구도 자신의 노력으로 하나님께 받아들여질 수 없습니다. 당신이 5분 전에 거듭났든, 10년 전에 거듭났든, 50년 전에 거듭났든, 우리가 가진 의는 모두 동일합니다. 당신은 오늘의 당신보다 더 의로워질 수 없습니다. 당신은 예수 그리스도의 완전한 의를 받았기 때문입니다. 그 의는 더 나아질 수 없습니다.
로마서 5장17절은 이것을 분명히 밝힙니다. “은혜와 의의 선물을 넘치게 받는 자들은…” 의의 선물은 하나뿐이며, 이미 언급했듯이 이는 주 예수님의 대속적인 희생으로 말미암아 모든 인류가 받을 자격이 있는 선물입니다. 의는 얻는 것이 아니라 받는 것이며, 자라거나 증가하지 않습니다.
반면에 은혜는 증가하거나 배가될 수 있습니다. “하나님과 우리 주 예수를 앎으로 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 더욱 많을지어다”(벧후 1:2) 야고보서 4장 6절은 말합니다. “그러나 더욱 큰 은혜를 주시나니 그러므로 일렀으되 하나님이 교만한 자를 물리치시고 겸손한 자에게 은혜를 주신다 하였느니라” 그러나 의는 모든 그리스도인에게 동일하며, 그 의는 예수 그리스도의 의입니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 나의 부르심을 위한 하나님의 은혜에 감사드립니다. 또한 내가 하나님 앞에 의롭다 함을 받고 예수 그리스도를 통해 생명 안에서 다스리게 하는 의의 선물에 감사드립니다. 나는 내 안에서 역사하는 하나님의 은혜를 인식하고 있으며, 그리스도의 의 안에서 안전합니다. 나는 담대하며 목적의식을 가지고 하나님의 뜻을 성취하며 살아갑니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

GRACE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17).
God gives us grace according to His purpose for our lives. His grace works from within you to accomplish what He has designed or called you to do. That grace will influence and bless those who are connected to you according to God’s plan.
But if someone isn’t called to be within the influence of that grace, they may not be blessed by it, because they are not assigned to that calling. However, righteousness is not like grace. We all have the same righteousness because our righteousness is the righteousness of Jesus Christ. We’ve been made righteous by His righteousness.
None of us stands before God on the basis of personal righteousness. None of us is accepted by God because of our own efforts. Whether you were born again five minutes ago, or ten years ago, or fifty years ago, the righteousness we all have is the same. You will never be more righteous than you are today, because you have received the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ. You can’t improve it.
Romans 5:17 makes this clear. It says, “they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness….” There’s only one gift of righteousness, and as already stated, it’s a well-deserved gift for all humanity, following the vicarious sacrifice of the Lord Jesus in our behalf. It’s not earned but received, and it doesn’t grow or increase.
Grace, on the other hand, can increase or be multiplied: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). God gives more grace, as James 4:6 says, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” But righteousness is the same for every Christian, being the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your grace that you’ve granted me for my calling, and for the gift of righteousness by which I stand before you, justified, and to reign in life through Jesus Christ. I’m conscious of your grace at work in me and I’m secure in the righteousness of Christ. I live boldly and purposefully, fulfilling your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
