Understanding The Father’s Heart
“인자는 사람의 생명을 멸하러 온 것이 아니요 구하러 왔노라 하시고…” (눅 9:56)
변화를 일으키기 위해 기도할 때, 특히 당신의 마을, 도시 또는 국가를 위해 기도할 때는 말씀에 대한 명확한 이해와 하나님의 마음에 대한 통찰력이 중요합니다. 예를 들어, 한 도시나 국가에 있는 그리스도인들이 특정 정부 관료를 원하지 않는다고 합심하여 기도하는 상황을 생각해 보십시오. 한편, 그리스도인 중에는 그 지도자와 함께 일하며 그 지도자가 성공하고 직책을 유지하도록 날마다 기도하는 사람들도 있을 것입니다.
변화를 선포하는 사람들이 의롭다 할지라도, 하나님은 그 지도자를 위해 믿음으로 서 있는 그분의 자녀들의 기도를 귀하게 여기십니다. 이것은 하나님의 본성, 즉 아버지의 본성을 보여줍니다. 당신은 하나님께서 특정한 방식으로 행동하실 것이라고 기대하지만, 그분은 그렇게 행동하지 않으실 수도 있습니다. 그분은 다르게 생각하시기 때문입니다. 하나님의 행동은 그분의 사랑, 자비, 목적에 의해 결정됩니다.
누가복음 9:54-56에 나오는 야고보와 요한의 경우를 생각해 보십시오. 그들은 주 예수님을 영접할 준비가 되어 있지 않은 사람들에게 화가 나서 이렇게 물었습니다. “주여, 우리가 하늘에서 불이 내리도록 명하여 마치 엘리야가 한 것처럼 그들을 살라 버리기를 원하시나이까?”(눅 9:54, 한글 킹제임스) 그러나 예수님은 그들을 꾸짖으시며 말씀하셨습니다. “너희는 너희가 어떤 영을 지녔는지 알지 못하고 있도다. 인자는 사람들의 생명을 멸하려고 온 것이 아니라 구원하려고 왔느니라.”(눅 9:55-56, 한글 킹제임스)
주님은 그분의 사역을 통해 아버지의 사랑과 자비의 마음을 보여주셨습니다. 예수님은 자신의 목적을 이해하셨고, 아버지의 뜻에 따라 그 목적을 성취하는 일에 헌신하셨습니다. 하나님의 본성은 변함이 없으십니다. 그분은 자비롭고 사랑이 많으십니다. 그분은 지혜로 역사하시며, 항상 사람들을 구원하시고, 그분의 신성한 목적에 그분의 자녀들이 일치하게 하십니다.
이 진리를 이해하면 우리의 갈망이 정당하다고 생각할 때에도 하나님께서 우리가 기대하는 방식으로 항상 행동하지 않으시는 이유를 알 수 있습니다. 당신이 말씀과 성령님의 인도에 자신을 내어드릴 때, 당신은 점점 더 모든 상황에서 하나님의 완전한 뜻과 계획을 알고 행하게 될 것입니다. 그리고 당신은 방향과 정확성을 가지고 효과적으로 기도할 수 있게 될 것입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 아버지의 사랑, 자비, 지혜에 감사드립니다. 나는 아버지의 마음을 인식하고, 아버지의 뜻과 목적에 나 자신을 내어드리며, 말씀을 따라 행하고 아버지의 목적을 성취할 때 아버지의 사랑과 은혜가 내 삶과 내 주변 사람들의 삶에 가득할 것을 선포합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

UNDERSTANDING THE FATHER’S HEART
“For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them” (Luke 9:56)
In praying to effect changes, especially in your town, city or nation, a clear understanding of the Word and insight into the mind of God is important. For example, consider a scenario where a group of Christians in a city or nation are praying in agreement that they don’t want a particular government official. Meanwhile, there’re other Christians who work with that same leader who may be praying every day for the leader to succeed and remain in office.
While those declaring a change may be justified, God also considers the prayers of His children who are standing in faith for that leader. It reveals something about the nature of God—His fatherly nature. You may expect Him to act in a certain way and He doesn’t. It’s because He thinks differently. His actions are governed by His love, mercy, and purpose.
Consider the case of James and John in Luke 9:54-56. They were offended by those who did not plan adequately to receive the Lord Jesus and asked, “Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?” But Jesus rebuked them, saying, “Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”
The Master demonstrated the Father’s heart of love and mercy throughout His ministry. He understood His purpose and remained committed to fulfilling it according to the will of the Father. God’s nature is consistent. He is merciful and loving. He operates as wisdom, always seeking to save, and to bring His children into alignment with His divine purpose.
Understanding this helps us appreciate why God may not always act the way we expect Him to, even when we think our desires are justified. As you give yourself to the Word, and the guidance of His Spirit, you will increasingly know and walk in His perfect will and plan in every situation and be able to pray effectively with direction and precision.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for your love, mercy, and wisdom. I recognize your fatherly heart, and I yield myself to your will and purpose, and declare that your love and grace prevail in my life and in the lives of those around me, as I walk in alignment with your Word and fulfil your purpose, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
