His Focus Is Human Souls

“사람의 아들은 잃어버린 것을 구원하려고 왔느니라.”(마 18:11, 한글 흠정역)

하나님께 가장 중요한 것은 영혼입니다. 바로 그것이 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 자신의 생명을 주신 이유입니다. 성경은 “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라”(요 3:16)고 말합니다. 예수님께서는 이 세상의 산, 언덕, 아름다운 초목을 구원하기 위해 오신 것이 아닙니다. 이러한 창조물들 역시 하나님께 귀하고 아름답지만, 주님의 희생적인 사명의 대상은 아니었습니다. 그분은 사람들, 즉 남성, 여성, 소년, 소녀들을 구하기 위해 오셨습니다!
예수님의 삶, 죽음, 부활은 모두 인류의 구원에 중심을 두고 있었습니다. 이 사랑의 행위는 하나님께서 각 사람에게 얼마나 큰 가치를 두고 계신지 강조합니다. 우리는 이것을 마음 속에 간직하고 항상 모든 사람이 하나님께 중요하다는 인식을 가지고 살아야 합니다.
이에 대해 이해는 당신의 인간관계, 결정, 우선순위를 형성할 것입니다. 이는 당신이 목적 의식을 가지고 살게 하며, 성경이 말하는 것처럼 교회의 휴거 전에 주님께 인도되어야 할 영혼들이 있다는 것을 알게 할 것입니다. 따라서 복음전파는 당신의 심장 박동과 삶의 방식이 됩니다.
다른 사람들에게 복음을 전하는 일에 열정적이고 뜨거우십시오. 당신의 시간, 에너지, 자원을 복음 전파에 쓰십시오. 모든 영혼의 본질적인 가치를 인식하고, 그들이 하나님의 운명을 성취하는 것을 보겠다고 결단하십시오. 전세계 영혼 구원을 위해 간절히 기도하십시오.

HIS FOCUS IS HUMAN SOULS

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost” (Matthew 18:11).

The most important thing to God is human souls. It’s the reason Jesus came and gave His life. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). He didn’t come for the redemption of the mountains, hills and beautiful vegetation of the world. These creations, while majestic and valuable to God, were not the focus of His sacrificial mission. He came to save human beings—men, women, boys and girls!
His life, death, and resurrection were all centred on the salvation of mankind. This act of love underscores the immense value God places on each person. We must have that in our hearts and live always with the consciousness that every human being is important to God.
If you live with this understanding, it’ll shape your interactions, decisions, and priorities. It’ll drive you to live purposefully, knowing that according to the scriptures, there’s a definite number of souls that must be won to the Lord before the Rapture of the Church. Therefore, evangelism becomes your heartbeat and lifestyle.
Remain passionate and fervent in sharing the Gospel with others. Put your time, energy and resources into it. Recognize the intrinsic value of every soul and be determined to see them fulfil God’s destiny for them. Pray earnestly for the salvation of souls around the world.
Remember, the Bible says God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). So, in addition to fervently and radically preaching the Gospel, intercede for those who haven’t yet known the Lord that the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ will shine unto them for their salvation, prevailing over darkness, idolatry and deception. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, as your children around the world go forth preaching the Gospel today, men’s hearts are open to receive the message for their salvation; they are delivered from Satan’s dominion into God’s Kingdom. I declare that in every nation in the earth, every resistance to the Gospel is broken, and the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ shines brightly into the hearts of men, women, boys and girls for a great harvest of souls into the Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

요즘은 영어 성경의 버전이 너무나 많다보니 많은 사람이 성경이 원래 영어로 쓰여졌다고 오해하기 쉽습니다. 그러나 번역가들이 이 중요한 작업을 해냈고, 성령님께서는 오늘날에도 번역가들은 인도하셔서 더 많은 사람들이 자신의 모국어로 성경과 여러 기독교 자료들을 접할 수 있게 합니다.
성경의 신성한 글들이 히브리어, 그리스어, 아람어로 쓰여졌다는 사실에 대해 생각해 보십시오. 그러나 주님을 사랑하고 그분의 메시지를 전 세계에 전파하고자 하는 헌신적인 사람들이 있었기에 지금처럼 다양한 언어로 볼 수 있게 되었습니다.

THE MISSION CONTINUES

“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it” (Psalm 68:11).

With so many English Bible versions available today, it’s easy for many to erroneously believe that the Bible was originally given in English language. However, it was the translators who performed this crucial work, and the Holy Spirit continues to guide them even today to make the Bible and other Christian materials accessible to many more in their native languages.
Think about the fact that the sacred writings of the scriptures were written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. But it took dedicated individuals who loved the Lord and desired to spread His message to the entire world to make it available in various languages as we have today.
This mission continues through the work of modern-day missionaries and evangelists who travel to distant lands, much like those early translators. They go into remote and often challenging environments to find those who have not yet heard the Gospel, and they bring it to them in the language they best understand. The Lord Jesus instructed us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). He sent us to find the lost, to seek them out in the byways and highways.
This directive is clear in the Scriptures, and it drives the mission of Christians today. We carry on the vision that He gave us. This vision is about actively reaching out to those who need to hear the message of salvation, and this involves going beyond our comfort zones, reaching out to speakers of all languages, thus ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel.
The work is far from over, and the vision of reaching every person with the Gospel remains as vital as ever. That’s why we’re grateful to the Lord to have those who are working with us in various nations to make it possible for this devotional to become accessible in all known languages and dialects of the world, and as a result, reaching the ends of the earth before the Lord’s return.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I pray for translators, missionaries, and evangelists of the message of the Gospel all over the world, who are dedicated to its spread, especially in regions that’re hostile to this cause, that they be protected and shielded from wicked and unreasonable men, that they continue to be effective witnesses for Christ, making your Word known without hindrance, in Jesus’ Name. 구원을 위한 하나님의 위대한 계획
God’s Grand Plan For Redemption

“한 사람이 순종하지 아니함으로 많은 사람이 죄인 된 것 같이 한 사람이 순종하심으로 많은 사람이 의인이 되리라”(롬 5:19)

아담이 창조되었을 때, 그는 순수한 존재였으며 하나님께서 창조하신 모든 것은 선했기 때문에 오직 선한 것만 알고 있었습니다(창 1:31). 하나님께서는 아담에게 창조물에 대한 그분의 권세를 주시고, 이 세상의 청지기로 삼으셨습니다. 그분은 이 권세와 함께 구체적인 지시를 주셨는데, 그 중 가장 주목할 만한 지시는 정원 한가운데 있는 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라는 것이었습니다.
하나님께서는 아담에게 나무의 열매를 먹는 결과에 대해 분명히 경고하셨습니다. “… 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라 하시니라”(창 2:16-17) 그럼에도 불구하고 아담은 하나님께 불순종하여 금지된 나무의 열매를 먹었습니다. 이러한 불순종 행위는 하나님께 대한 반역으로 여겨졌고, 그 결과 아담은 자신의 권세를 사탄에게 빼앗겨 사탄이 이 세상의 신이 되었습니다.
하지만 하나님께서는 끝이 없는 자비와 지혜 안에서 구원의 계획을 가지고 계셨습니다. 그분은 또 다른 아담, 즉 두 번째이자 마지막 아담인 예수 그리스도를 보내셨습니다. “… 첫 사람 아담은 살아 있는 혼이 되었더라, 함과 같이 마지막 아담은 살려주는 영이 되셨느니라… 첫 사람은 땅에서 나서 땅에 속하거니와 둘째 사람은 하늘로부터 나신 주시니라.”(고전 15:45, 47, 한글 흠정역) 오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 내용을 기억해 보십시오. 주 예수 그리스도께서는 십자가에서의 완벽한 순종과 희생적 죽음을 통해 하나님과 인류 사이의 깨진 관계를 회복하셨습니다.
예수님의 순종은 아담의 불순종을 물리치셨고, 그분을 믿는 모든 사람에게 의롭다 하심과 영생을 주셨습니다. 따라서 예수 그리스도를 통해 구원과 의를 위한 하나님의 계획이 성취되었습니다. 예수님께서 요한복음 14:6에서 “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라”고 말씀하신 것은 당연합니다. 예수님만이 영원한 구원이십니다. 할렐루야!

GOD’S GRAND PLAN FOR REDEMPTION

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:19).

When Adam was created, he existed in innocence, knowing only good because everything God created was good (Genesis 1:31). God entrusted Adam with authority over His creation, effectively making him the steward of this world. Along with this authority, God provided Adam with specific instructions, of which notably, was to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which was in the midst of the garden.
God clearly warned Adam of the consequences of eating of the tree: “…for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). Adam, nonetheless, disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden tree. This act of disobedience constituted treason against God, and as a result, Adam forfeited his authority to Satan, who then became the god of this world.
But God, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, had a plan for redemption. He sent another Adam—the second and last Adam—Jesus Christ: “…The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit…The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:45 & 47). Recall what we read in our opening scripture. The Lord Jesus Christ, through His perfect obedience and sacrificial death on the cross, restored the broken relationship between God and humanity.
Jesus’s obedience countered Adam’s disobedience, offering justification and eternal life to all who believe in Him. Therefore, through Jesus Christ, God’s plan for redemption and righteousness was fulfilled. No wonder He declared in John 14:6, “I am The Way, The Truth and The Life: No man comes to the Father, but by me.” He is the eternal salvation. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I’m eternally grateful for the redemption you’ve provided through the obedience of Jesus Christ. Thank you for what His vicarious sacrifice and His glorious resurrection have ushered us into. I’m the expression of your grace, love, and righteousness, living out the incorruptible, imperishable, impregnable life in Christ. Amen.

Don’t Seek To Please Godless Men

“너는 악한 자들을 보고 부러워하지 말며 그들과 함께하기를 바라지도 말라.”(잠 24:1, 한글 흠정역)

어떤 그리스도인들은 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람들을 부러워하고 그들과 어울리기를 원합니다. 어떤 그리스도인들은 “유명한 사람들”과 자신을 동일시하는 것을 좋아합니다. 그들이 어떤 이유로 인해 그런 유명한 사람들과 어울릴 수 있는 자리에 초대를 받으면, 그것을 대단한 일로 여깁니다. 그러나 하나님은 그렇게 보지 않으십니다. 그분은 당신이 하나님을 믿지 않는 남성들과 여성들을 부러워하기를 원치 않으십니다.
하나님께서 시편 1:1에서 하신 말씀을 기억하십시오. “복 있는 사람은 악인들의 꾀를 따르지 아니하며 죄인들의 길에 서지 아니하며 오만한 자들의 자리에 앉지 아니하고” 주님의 길과 왕국의 삶을 멸시하는 악한 자들과 어울리지 않기 때문에 누리는 복이 있습니다. 그들을 부러워하거나 기쁘게 하려고 하지 마십시오. 그들이 부유하고 영향력이 있더라도 그들의 부에 유혹받지 마십시오.
저는 아주 어렸을 때 오늘의 본문 구절을 접했고, 이 구절은 저에게 인간 관계에 대한 좋은 지침, 즉 무엇이 저에게 좋고, 무엇이 저에게 나쁜지에 대해 알게 되었습니다. 그래서 저는 아주 어린 나이 때부터 그리스도를 위해 살지 않는 사람들에게 영감을 받은 적이 없습니다. 그들이 누구이든, 무엇을 가졌든 상관없습니다.
오늘의 본문 구절의 다음 구절은 왜 그런 사람들을 부러워하거나 그들과 함께 하는 것을 즐겨서는 안 되는지 보여줍니다. “그들의 마음은 멸망을 연구하고 그들의 입술은 해악을 말하느니라.”(잠 24:2, 한글 흠정역) 그들은 어둠의 본성을 가지고 있지만, 당신은 빛의 자녀입니다. 사실, 당신은 빛입니다(엡 5:8). 당신이 왜 그들을 기쁘게 하기 위해 애쓰면 안 되는지 아시겠습니까?

고백
나는 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람들을 부러워하지 않으며 그들과 어울리기를 원하지 않습니다. 나는 빛의 자녀로써 행합니다. 나는 주님 안에서 빛이기 때문입니다. 나의 기쁨은 주 예수님을 기쁘시게 하는 일에 있으며, 나는 항상 그분을 존중합니다. 나는 의의 열매들을 맺기 위해 내 안에 계시며 나를 의의 길로 인도하시는 하나님의 영에 인도받습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

DON’T SEEK TO PLEASE GODLESS MEN

“Be not envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them” (Proverbs 24:1 RSV).

Sometimes, you find Christians who envy godless individuals and wish to be in their company. Some get really excited to identify with some “big names.” If, for some reason, they get invited to be in the company of certain well-known people, they consider it a big deal. But that’s not how God sees it. He doesn’t want you to envy Godless men and women.
Remember what He said in Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” You’re blessed for not hanging out with the wicked who despise the way of the Lord and the life of the Kingdom. Don’t envy or seek to please them. Even if they’re rich and influential, don’t be enticed by their wealth.
I came across our opening verse when I was still very young, and it gave me good instruction about human relationships: what’s good for me and what’s not good for me. So, right from a very young age, I’ve never been inspired by people who weren’t living for Christ, irrespective of who they were or what they had.
The next verse to our opening scripture shows why you shouldn’t envy them or enjoy being in their company: “For they spend their days plotting violence and cheating” (Proverbs 24:2 TLB). They have a nature of darkness, but you are a child of light; in fact, you’re light (Ephesians 5:8). Do you see why you should never seek to please them?
The only person you should want to please is the Lord Jesus. That’s important because those who truly love Jesus Christ will be pleased with the things you do. But if those who don’t love Jesus are pleased with the things you do, then there’s a problem and you should be concerned. In Galatians 1:10 CEV, Paul said, “I am not trying to please people. I want to please God. Do you think I am trying to please people? If I were doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

CONFESSION
I don’t envy Godless men or desire to be in their company. I walk as a child of light, for I am light in the Lord. My delight is in pleasing the Lord Jesus, and I seek to honour Him always. I’m guided by the Spirit of God who lives in me and guides me in the path of righteousness, to produce fruits and works of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Counsellor In You

“지략이 없으면 백성이 망하여도 지략이 많으면 평안을 누리느니라”(잠 11:14)

대부분 사람들은 “많은 상담자”라는 말이 여러 명의 상담자를 의미한다고 오해합니다. 심지어 일부 성경 번역본은 그렇게 번역합니다. 예를 들어, NIV 번역본은 “인도가 부족하면 나라가 망하지만, 많은 조언자들을 통해 승리한다”고 번역합니다. 그러나 이 구절은 많은 수의 상담자들에 대한 내용이 아닙니다. “다수”로 번역된 히브리어는 “위대한”이라는 뜻도 가지고 있으며, “상담자”로 번역된 단어는 Authorized 번역본에서 많은 경우 “상담”으로 번역되었습니다.
상담자는 정보를 제공합니다. 따라서 “많은 상담자(위대한 상담)”은 적절한 행동 방침을 결정하는 데 도움이 되는 충분한 정보를 제공한다는 것을 의미합니다. 당신은 결정을 내릴 때 필요한 충분한 정보를 얻고 있습니다. 만일 당신이 적절한 행동 방침을 결정하는 데 충분한 정보가 없다면, 조언이나 상담이 충분하지 않은 것으로 간주됩니다.
이 구절이 쓰여졌을 당시에는 오늘날 우리가 가지고 있는 것만큼 많은 정보에 접근할 수 없었습니다. 그들에게는 “왕의 고문”이라고 불리는 사람들이 있었습니다. 모든 정보를 그들에게 의존했습니다. 그들은 “현명한” 사람들이었습니다. 어떤 행동을 할 지 결정하기 위해서는 그들로부터 충분한 정보를 받아야 했습니다.

THE COUNSELLOR IN YOU

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).

The term “multitude of counsellors” is an interesting one that’s misunderstood by many to mean a multiplicity of counsellors. Even some Bible versions translate it this way. The NIV, for instance, says, “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.” It’s actually not about a multiplicity of counsellors; the Hebrew word translated “multitude” also means “greatness”, while the word translated counsellors is translated ‘counsel’ many more times in the ‘Authorized version’.
Counsellors provide information. A “multitude of counsellors” therefore means that you’re getting sufficient information to help you decide an appropriate course of action. You’re getting enough information that’s necessary to make a decision. If you don’t have enough information to decide an appropriate course of action, it’s deemed that you have insufficient advice or counsel.
Back in those days when this verse was written, they didn’t have access to as much information as we have today. They had what they called the “king’s advisors.” He depended on them for all information. They were the “wise” men. For him to decide a course of action, he needed sufficient information from them.
But today, we have lots of materials that we can study to get sufficient information on a subject that can help you make an informed decision. So, it’s about information, not about the number of people you’re calling to counsel you.
However, you have the most dependable Counsellor in you who can give you the most accurate information you require, and that’s the Holy Spirit. The Psalmist said, “I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons” (Psalm 16:7). The Holy Spirit is the one who instructs you in your inward man. He gives you instructions by which He guides your life. Some of these may not even be expressly dealt with in the Scriptures.
For example, you could require information concerning travelling or making some purchases. The Counsellor in you—the Holy Spirit—can provide you with sufficient information to enable you make the right choices and decisions.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the Holy Spirit, my divine Counsellor, who lives in me, granting me insight into mysteries and secrets, and sufficient information to make wise and informed decisions and choices. I’m triumphant always and in every place because I’m guided and instructed by the Spirit in all my affairs, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

HE KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT EVERYTHING

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come” (John 16:13).

Oftentimes, when people get sick, many aren’t aware of the reason for their trouble. They try all kinds of drugs, some of which even cause more problems than they realize. When nothing changes, they begin to wonder, “Why am I going through these difficulties? Why am I feeling so sick? Why is this happening to me?”
Well, the Holy Spirit was sent to guide you into all truth, including the truth about your health. He can help you know the problem and also the solution. Did you know the Holy Spirit is a healer? Yes, He is. The Bible says, if He lives in you, He will vitalize your physical body. It doesn’t matter that you’ve been diagnosed with some disease; now that He lives in you, there’s the guarantee for a change. Glory to God!
Maybe you’re a student or you’re carrying out research for a project; the Holy Spirit is the Teacher inside you. You need to listen to Him because He knows everything. He’s the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He can fill you with the knowledge of God’s will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding concerning anything. Just ask Him.
The Holy Spirit has come to help you in all aspects of life, whether in business, in family, or in your finances. He’s come to help you gain the mastery, to make you a wonder. Your greatest asset while you’re here in this world is the Holy Spirit. He’ll teach you the Word of God, and remind you of things you’ve learned.
The Holy Spirit guides you in prayer, and shows you the future. So, with Him, you can never lose or fail. Encourage His work and ministry in your life by acknowledging that He’s in you and with you always. You can speak with Him more than you do anyone else. Thank Him for being your ever-present teacher, helper and guide.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life. I’m always attentive to His guidance, as He leads me in victory in every aspect of my life: in my finances, health, job, family, relationships, and ministry. I walk in wisdom and discernment, always knowing the steps to take as I fulfil my destiny in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

성령님께서 세상을 책망하십니다
The Holy Spirit Convicts The World

“그가 와서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라”(요 16:8)

주 예수님은 십자가에 못 박히시기 전 제자들과 마지막으로 만났을 때 오늘의 본문 구절을 말씀하셨습니다. 13장에 나오는 긴 가르침 가운데 주님은 떠나실 것이라고 말씀하셨고, 제자들은 그 말씀에 당황했습니다. 그러고 나서 주님은 “내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하리니 그는 진리의 영이라 세상은 능히 그를 받지 못하나니…”(요 14:16-17) 라고 말씀하셨습니다.
이후 요한복음에서 주님은 그들에게 보혜사가 누구신지 알려주셨습니다. “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령…”(요 14:26) 이분은 주님께서 요한복음 16장에서 언급하신 분과 동일하신 분이십니다. “그가 와서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라”(요 16:8) 주님께서 이 구절에서 의미하신 바는 무엇입니까?
“책망하다”라는 단어는 “유죄를 선고하다” 혹은 “납득시키다” 라는 뜻을 가진 그리스어 “엘렌코(elegcho)”에서 번역되었습니다. 이는 성령님의 역사입니다. 예수님께서 말씀을 전하실 때 많은 사람들이 믿지 않았습니다. 어떤 사람들은 믿고 기적을 받았지만, 대부분 사람들은 믿지 않았습니다.
성경은 말합니다. “이렇게 많은 표적을 그들 앞에서 행하셨으나 그를 믿지 아니하니”(요 12:37) 그들은 납득하지 못했습니다. 왜 그렇습니까? 그들에게 성령이 부어지지 않았기 때문입니다. 그러나 예수님께서 성령이 임하시면 그분께서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하실 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다.
오늘날 사람들에게 성령이 부어졌기 때문에 그들이 하나님의 말씀을 들을 때 심령 가운데 확신할 수 있습니다. 당신이 예수님을 본 적이 없음에도 그분께서 하나님의 아들이심을 확신할 수 있는 이유는 성령님께서 당신의 영에 그 계시를 주셨기 때문입니다. 어떤 사람이 당신을 설득한 것이 아닙니다. 성령님께서 당신의 심령에 그 일을 행하셨습니다. 성령님께서 당신을 도와주셨기 때문에 당신이 믿을 수 있는 것입니다.
따라서 영혼을 구원하기 위해 나아갈 때, 성령의 능력으로 그 일을 행하는 것이 중요합니다. 사람들을 납득시키는 분은 성령님이십니다. 성령님께서 당신의 말을 듣고 있는 사람들을 설득하시고 믿게 하십니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!

THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS THE WORLD

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” (John 16:8).

The Lord Jesus made the statement above in one of the last meetings He had with His disciples before He was crucified. During the long teaching, which started in the 13th chapter, He told them He was going away and the disciples were puzzled. Then, He said, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive” (John 14:16-17)
In subsequent verses, He told them who the Comforter is: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… (John 14:26). This was the same person He was referring to in chapter 16 when He said, “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” What did He mean by this statement?
The word “reprove” is translated from the Greek word “elegcho” which means “to convict” or “to convince.” This is the work of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus preached, many didn’t believe. Even though certain individuals believed and received miracles, the people generally didn’t believe.
The Bible says, “But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him” (John 12:37). They weren’t convicted. Why? Because the Holy Spirit hadn’t been poured out on the people. But Jesus said when the Holy Spirit comes, He will convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
Today, men can be convicted in their hearts—convinced—when they hear the Word of God because the Holy Spirit has been poured out. The reason you’re convinced that Jesus is the Son of God, even though you haven’t seen Him is because the Holy Spirit brought that revelation to your Spirit. It wasn’t a man that convinced you; the Holy Spirit did that in your heart. You believe because He helped you to believe.
That’s why, when you go out to win souls, it’s important to do so by the power of the Holy Spirit. He’s the one who convicts the people; He convinces those listening to you and makes them believe. Glory to God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit around the world today as your children proclaim the Gospel everywhere; our listeners are convinced and converted. There’s a great harvest of souls into the Kingdom today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Glory In Submission

우리가 종종 사람들에게 주님께서 그들을 영광스럽게 하셨다고 말할 때, 그들은 피부에서 빛이 나는 등의 외적인 무언가를 볼 것을 기대합니다. 하지만 그것은 성경이 가르치는 바가 아닙니다. 하나님의 영광은 꼭 감각으로 느껴지거나 인식되는 것은 아닙니다. 하나님의 영광은 당신의 영으로 인식하는 것입니다.

성경은 예수님께서 영광을 받으셨기 때문에 사방에서 빛이 비추기 시작했다고 말하지 않았습니다. 영광은 예수님의 순종 안에 있었습니다. 바로 이것이 예수님께서 행하신 일입니다. 예수님은 아버지의 뜻에 완전히 순종하시고 “지금 인자가 영광을 받았다”고 선포하셨습니다. 자신의 삶을 성령님께 드리는 것에 바로 영광이 있습니다.
당신이 그분께 더 많이 내어드릴수록 당신의 영광은 증가합니다. 당신이 적게 내어드릴수록 하나님의 영광은 당신의 삶에서 더 적게 나타납니다. 그렇다면 당신은 어떻게 하시겠습니까? 그분께 순종하십시오. 말씀을 행하고 당신이 받은 성령님의 지시를 행하십시오. 그러면 당신은 삶에서 하나님의 영광이 더 많이 나타나는 것을 경험하게 될 것입니다. 할렐루야!

THE GLORY IN SUBMISSION

“And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified” (John 12:23).

Sometimes, when we tell people the Lord has glorified them, they expect to see something outwardly, like a ray of light glowing from their skin. But that’s not what the Bible teaches. The glory of God isn’t necessarily felt or perceived by the senses. It’s something you recognize with your spirit.
Look at Jesus. The Bible tells us in John 12 about some Greeks who sought an audience with Him. When He was told that they had come to see Him, He knew this was a sign: It was time for the salvation of the Gentiles. This also signified that He was about to die. Jesus responded by saying, “The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit” (John 12:23-24).
When Jesus said, “The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified,” the Bible didn’t record that any spectacular event happened. The heavens didn’t open up, and there was no earthquake. In the next chapter, while Jesus was sitting with His disciples at night, Judas got up after supper and went away quickly. Jesus then said, “Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him” (John 13:31).
The Bible didn’t say lights started beaming everywhere because He was glorified. No. The glory was in His submission. Here’s what the Master did: He submitted Himself totally to the will of the Father and declared, “Now is the Son of man glorified.” The submission of one’s life to the Spirit is where the glory is.
The more yielded you are to Him, the more your glory increases. The less yielded you are, the less of God’s glory is manifested in your life. So, what would you rather do? Be yielded to Him! Do the Word and carry out every instruction of the Spirit that comes to you, and you’ll experience greater manifestations of His glory in your life. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your glory in my life. Thank you for the privilege and blessing to experience ever-increasing glory as I do your Word and carry out every instruction of the Spirit that I receive, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

You Give Light To The World

“내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라”(요 9:5)

어느 날 예수님은 지나가시다가 태어날 때부터 눈먼 사람을 보셨습니다. 그분과 함께 있던 제자들은 그 사람이 눈먼 것이 자신의 죄 때문인지 아니면 부모의 죄 때문인지 질문했습니다. 그러나 예수님께서는 그 사람의 죄나 부모의 죄와는 아무 상관이 없다고 대답하셨습니다(요 9:3-4) 그리고 주님은 요한복음 9:5에서 놀라운 말씀을 하셨습니다. “내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라”
예수님은 그렇게 말씀하신 후에 놀라운 일을 행하셨습니다. 땅에 침을 뱉으시고, 침으로 진흙을 만들어 눈먼 사람의 눈에 문지르셨습니다. 역사가들은 그 사람이 단순히 눈이 멀었던 것이 아니라 안구가 없었고 눈구멍이 비어 있었다고 말합니다. 예수님은 진흙을 눈으로 바꾸는 기적을 행하셨고, “내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 당신은 그 말씀의 뜻이 무엇인지 아십니까?
예수님께서는 “내가 있다(I AM)”고 말씀하실 때마다, 하나님께서 모세가 “주님의 이름이 무엇입니까?”라고 물으셨을 때 하신 말씀을 동일하게 말씀하신 것입니다. 하나님께서는 모세에게 “나는 네가 필요로 하는 모든 존재다. 네가 구원을 필요로 한다면, 나는 너의 구원이다. 치유가 필요하다면, 나는 너의 치유이다. 네가 필요한 것이 무엇이냐? 내가 그것이다.”
따라서 예수님께서 “내가 그것이다”라고 말씀하실 때, 하나님께서 “나는 네가 필요로 하는 그 존재이다”라고 말씀하신 것입니다. 주님은 눈이 없는 사람을 보시고 “나는 세상의 빛이다” 라고 말씀하셨습니다. 성경은 “눈은 몸의 등불이니”(마 6:22, 눅 11:34) 라고 말합니다. 그러므로 예수님께서는 “나는 세상의 눈이다. 세상은 내가 없이 볼 수 없다.”고 말씀하신 것입니다. 예수님은 즉시 그 사실을 증명하셨고 그 사람에게 눈을 주셨습니다.

YOU GIVE LIGHT TO THE WORLD

“…As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9:5).

On a certain day as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from birth. His disciples, who were with Him, asked if the man’s blindness was a result of his sin or his parents’ sins. But Jesus replied that it had nothing to do with either the man’s or his parent’s sin (John 9:3-4). But then He made a remarkable statement in the fifth verse: “…As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
After saying this, Jesus did something mind-blowing: He spat on the ground, made clay with the spittle, and rubbed it into the man’s eyes. Historians tell us the man wasn’t just blind; he had no eyeballs but empty in the sockets. Jesus performed a miracle by turning clay into eyes, having said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Do you know what this means?
Every time Jesus made that statement, “I AM”, He was reiterating what God said to Moses when he asked, “What is your name?” and God said, “I AM.” God was saying to Moses, “I am whatever you need me to be. If you need deliverance, I am your deliverance. If you need salvation, I am your salvation. If you need healing, I am your healing. What is it you need? I AM.”
So, when Jesus said, “I AM…,” He was saying the same thing God said: “I am what you need.” He saw a man who didn’t have eyes, and said, “I am the light of the world.” Remember what the Bible says, “The light of the body is the eye” (Matthew 6:22, Luke 11:34). So, Jesus was saying, “I am the eyes of the world. Without me, the world can’t see.” Right away, He proved it and gave the man eyes.
Now, here’s the most intriguing part: the same Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world…” (Matthew 5:14)? That means, just like Him, you give “eyes”—sight—to the world! Without you, the world can’t see. You give direction, clarity, and vision to the world. Even now, boldly declare, “I am the light of the world!” It means that when you go out and meet someone who is down, you can lift such a person up. Someone can have his eyes restored just because you showed up: someone who was sick can get healed. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, you’ve made me a light in this world; equipped and empowered to bring hope, healing, and deliverance to those around me. Your light in me dispels darkness. Thank you for making me an oasis of love, and a haven of peace, joy, hope and faith in a troubled world; what a privilege! Thank you Father, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

선한 싸움
It’s A Good Fight

“믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라 영생을 취하라 이를 위하여 네가 부르심을 받았고 많은 증인 앞에서 선한 증언을 하였도다”(딤전 6:12)

당신이 알든 모르든 그리스도인으로서 당신은 싸움 중에 있습니다. 어떤 사람들은 이 사실에 대해 알고 싶어하지 않습니다. 그들은 싸우고 싶어하지 않기 때문입니다. 오히려 그들은 어떻게든 일이 저절로 해결되기를 바랍니다. 아닙니다! 당신은 싸워야 합니다. 일이 풀리지 않게 하려는 대적이 있기 때문입니다.
세상은 당신의 믿음에 적대적이라는 사실을 아십시오. 세상은 하나님의 왕국에 적대적입니다. 그러나 예수님께서는 “담대하라 내가 세상을 이기었노라”(요 16:33)고 말씀하셨습니다. 그러므로 우리는 세상을 이기려고 애쓰지 않습니다. 우리는 이미 그리스도 예수 안에서 세상을 이겼고, 믿음으로 그 위치를 유지하고 있습니다. 성경은 우리의 믿음이 세상을 이기는 승리라고 말합니다. “무릇 하나님께로부터 난 자마다 세상을 이기느니라 세상을 이기는 승리는 이것이니 우리의 믿음이니라”(요일 5:4)
이제 주님께서 우리에게 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라고 말씀하신 이유를 이해할 수 있습니다. 믿음은 승리입니다. 그러므로 항상 믿음의 눈으로 보십시오. 처음부터 끝을 보고 끝까지 말씀에 집중하십시오. 무슨 일이 일어나든지 당신의 승리는 보장되어 있다는 것을 아십시오. 당신이 항상 승리하기 때문에 믿음의 선한 싸움이라고 부르는 것입니다.
당신이 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우는 동안 주의해야 할 세 가지 중요한 사항이 있습니다. 첫째, 감각적인 정보를 거절하고 말씀에 집중하십시오. 둘째, 당신의 마음을 말씀으로 새롭게 하고, 말씀이 당신의 동기가 되게 하십시오(롬 12:2, 약 1:25). 셋째, 말씀을 묵상하여 당신의 삶에 대한 말씀의 영향력이 더욱 강력해지도록 하십시오(수 1:8). 할렐루야!

기도
사랑하는 아버지, 예수 그리스도 안에서 주신 승리에 감사드립니다. 나는 아버지께서 주신 권세 안에 굳건히 서 있으며, 나를 대적하여 만들어진 어떤 무기도 성공할 수 없음을 압니다. 내 안에 있는, 내 온 존재에서 역사하고 있는 하나님의 생명에 감사드립니다. 나는 모든 상황 가운데 승리합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

IT’S A GOOD FIGHT

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12).

Whether you know it or not, as a Christian, you’re in a fight. Some people don’t like to hear this because they’re just not willing to fight. Instead, they hope that things will somehow just fall into place. No! You’ve got to fight. Why? Because there’s an adversary working to ensure that things don’t fall into place for you.
Understand that the world is hostile to your faith; it’s hostile to the Kingdom of God. Jesus, however, said, “Cheer up; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). So, we’re not trying to overcome the world; we already did in Christ Jesus and keep it in that position with our faith. The Bible says our faith is the victory that triumphs over the world. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).
Now you can understand why He tells us to fight the good fight of faith. Faith is the victory, so always see with the eyes of faith. See the end from the beginning and stay focused on the Word, knowing that no matter what happens, your victory is guaranteed. It’s called the good fight of faith, because you always win.
Here are three important things to note as you fight the good fight of faith: refuse to consider sensory perceptions and focus on the Word. Secondly, keep renewing your mind with the Word, and let it be your motivation (Romans 12:2; James 1:25). Then, meditate on the Word to deepen its impact in your life (Joshua 1:8). Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for the victory you’ve given me in Jesus Christ. I stand firm in the authority you have given me, knowing that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Thank you for the life of God in me, working in every fibre of my being. I am victorious in every situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
