Perfect And Full-grown
“그러므로 누구든지 우리 온전히 이룬 자들은 이렇게 생각할지니 만일 어떤 일에 너희가 달리 생각하면 하나님이 이것도 너희에게 나타내시리라”(빌 3:15)
어떤 사람들은 영적 성숙은 하늘 나라에 가야 성취할 수 있고, 이 땅에서는 계속 성장할 뿐이라고 믿습니다. 그러나 그것은 사실이 아닙니다. 하나님의 말씀은 그리스도인들이 자신의 영적인 여정에서 완전한 성장과 성숙을 위해 노력하도록 격려합니다. 오늘의 본문 구절에서 바울은 영적으로 성숙하고 완전히 성장한 사람들을 묘사하기 위해 “텔레오스”라는 그리스어를 사용했습니다.
목표는 모든 그리스도인이 이 수준의 영적 성숙에 도달하는 것입니다. 에베소서 4:11-13은 이 진리에 대해 강조합니다. 바울은 교회 내 오중사역자들 혹은 은사, 그리고 그들의 고유한 목적에 대해 설명합니다. “그가 어떤 사람은 사도로, 어떤 사람은 선지자로, 어떤 사람은 복음 전하는 자로, 어떤 사람은 목사와 교사로 삼으셨으니 이는 성도를 온전하게 하여 봉사의 일을 하게 하며 그리스도의 몸을 세우려 하심이라 우리가 다 하나님의 아들을 믿는 것과 아는 일에 하나가 되어 온전한 사람을 이루어 그리스도의 장성한 분량이 충만한 데까지 이르리니”
이어서 나오는 14절은 11-13절에서 읽은 내용의 목적을 말해줍니다. 바로 우리 모두가 믿음과 하나님의 아들을 아는 지식에 하나가 되어 온전해지고 완전히 자라나는 것입니다. “…우리가 다 믿음 안에서 하나가 되고 하나님의 아들에 대한 [충만하고 정확한] 지식의 이해에 이르러 [우리가] 참으로 성숙한 인격 (그리스도의 완전함의 수준에 못지않은 인격의 완전함), 그리스도의 충만함과 그분 안에서 발견되는 완전함의 척도에 [도달할 때까지]”(엡 4:13, 확대번역본)
이 일은 하늘이 아닌 이 땅에서 일어납니다! 하나님께서는 우리가 이 땅에서 그리스도의 충만함의 분량에 이르기까지 성장하기를 기대하십니다. 삶의 모든 면에서 그리스도의 충만함을 나타내고, 당신의 말, 행동, 성격을 통해 그분의 영광을 나타내는 것입니다. 이것이 성장에 대한 당신의 비전이 되게 하십시오.
당신이 이것을 경험하게 될 것이라고 결단하십시오. 이 빛 안에서 살기로, 그리스도의 충만함의 분량 안에서 행하기로 결단하십시오. 당신 안에 있는 그리스도는 실제 삶에서, 완전하게 영광의 소망이십니다. 하나님을 찬양합니다!

사랑하는 아버지, 영적 성숙을 지금 성취할 수 있다고 보장해 주셔서 감사합니다. 나는 하나님의 말씀을 통해 성령으로 말미암아 완전하고 온전해지도록 세워집니다. 나는 하나님의 영의 충만함 가운데 행합니다. 우리가 세워지고, 건설되고, 강화되고, 성숙에 이르기까지 양육되도록 교회 안에 세워주신 사역 은사들에 감사드립니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

PERFECT AND FULL-GROWN
“Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you” (Philippians 3:15).
Some people believe that spiritual maturity is only attainable when we get to heaven, and that on earth, we can only keep growing. But that’s not true. God’s Word encourages Christians to strive for maturity and full growth in their spiritual journey. In our opening verse, Paul uses the Greek word “teleos” to describe those who are spiritually mature and full-grown.
The goal is for every Christian to attain this level of spiritual maturity. Ephesians 4:11-13 emphasises this truth as Paul highlights the five-fold ministry offices or gifts within the Church and their distinct purposes. It says, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
The ensuing verse 14 tells us the purpose for all that we read in verses 11-13; it’s for us all to come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, perfect and full-grown: “…until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.” (Ephesians 4:13 AMPC).
This is not in heaven but in the earth! He expects us to grow to the full measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ here on earth. It is about embodying Christ’s fullness in every aspect of life, reflecting His glory through your words, actions, and character. Make this your vision of growth.
Make up your mind that this would be your experience. Be determined to walk in this light—to walk in the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Christ in you is the hope of glory, in reality, and in totality. Praise God!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the assurance that spiritual maturity is attainable now. Through your Word, I’m being raised by the Spirit to be perfect and full-grown, walking in the fullness of your Spirit. Thank you for the leadership ministry gifts you have established in the Church so that we may be built up, edified, strengthened, and nurtured unto maturity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
