죽음을 두려워하지 마십시오
Have No Fear Of Death
“맨 나중에 멸망 받을 원수는 사망이니라”(고전 15:26)
오늘의 본문 구절에 나오는 바울의 표현에서 주목해야 하는 차이점이 있습니다. 바로 그가 “맨 나중에 패배할 원수는 사망이니라”라고 말하지 않고 “멸망받다”라는 단어를 사용했다는 사실입니다. 이는 죽음이 패배했지만 아직 파괴되지 않았기 때문입니다.
그렇다면 왜 많은 사람들이 여전히 죽음을 두려워합니까? 히브리서 2:14-15에 그 답이 있습니다. “자녀들은 혈과 육에 속하였으매 그도 또한 같은 모양으로 혈과 육을 함께 지니심은 죽음을 통하여 죽음의 세력을 잡은 자 곧 마귀를 멸하시며 또 죽기를 무서워하므로 한평생 매여 종 노릇 하는 모든 자들을 놓아 주려 하심이니”
주 예수님께서는 그분의 대속적인 죽음을 통해 (한때 죽음의 권세를 가졌던) 마귀를 무력하게 만드셨고, 그의 사람들을 죽이는 능력과 권세를 효과적으로 폐하셨습니다. 따라서, 사탄은 더 이상 그 권세를 가지고 있지 않습니다. 그러면 이제 사탄은 어떤 일을 합니까? 그는 기만적인 전략을 사용하여 사람들을 두려워하게 만듭니다. 많은 사람들이 두려움으로 인해 죽게 됩니다. 두려움은 사람들을 속박합니다. 두려움은 그들을 떨게 만들고 자신이 해야 할 일들을 하지 못하게 만듭니다.
그러나 하나님께 감사드립니다. 예수님은 인류를 죽음으로부터 완전히 구원하셨습니다. 당신은 그리스도의 생명 안에서 죽음에 대한 두려움이 없는 곳에 있어야 합니다. 그곳이 바로 당신이 두려움을 없애버리는 장소입니다. 예수님께서는 지옥과 사망의 열쇠를 가지고 계십니다. 예수님께서 죽음을 다스리는 권세를 가지셨으므로 더 이상 두려워할 것이 없습니다. 예수님의 확신의 말씀을 읽어보십시오. “곧 살아 있는 자라 내가 전에 죽었었노라 볼지어다 이제 세세토록 살아 있어 사망과 음부의 열쇠를 가졌노니”(계 1:18)
요한복음 5:24에서 예수님은 “내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 내 말을 듣고 또 나 보내신 이를 믿는 자는 영생을 얻었고 심판에 이르지 아니하나니 사망에서 생명으로 옮겼느니라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 당신은 사망에서 생명으로 옮겨졌습니다. 당신은 생명의 영역에 있습니다. 이것은 약속이 아닙니다. 육신적인 죽음은 영적인 죽음의 결과입니다. 만일 당신 안에 영적인 죽음이 없다면 육신적인 죽음도 없어야 합니다.
요한은 자신이 쓴 서신에서 같은 말을 반복했습니다. “우리는 형제를 사랑함으로 사망에서 옮겨 생명으로 들어간 줄을 알거니와…”(요일 3:14) 할렐루야! 요한복음 14:30에서 예수님께서 말씀하셨듯이 마귀는 당신 안에 사망, 질병, 약함, 무력감을 포함한 그 무엇도 없다는 사실을 항상 기억하십시오. “이후에는 내가 너희와 말을 많이 하지 아니하리니 이 세상의 임금이 오겠음이라 그러나 그는 내게 관계할 것이 없으니”
고백
우리가 그리스도 안에 가지고 있는 사망을 이기는 승리로 인해 하나님을 송축합니다. 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 몸을 버리신 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것입니다. 나는 죽음에서 생명으로 옮겨졌음을 알기에 두려움 없이 삽니다. 내 안에 있는 하나님의 생명은 나를 초자연적으로 만들고 아픔, 질병, 실패, 죽음, 마귀로부터 내가 패배할 수 없게 만듭니다. 할렐루야!

HAVE NO FEAR OF DEATH
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:26).
There’s a distinction that I’d like you to observe in Paul’s expression in the theme verse. It’s the fact that he didn’t say, “The last enemy that shall be defeated is death.” Rather, he used the word “destroyed”; this is because death has been defeated, but not yet extirpated.
Since this is the case, why then are many still afraid of death? Hebrews 2:14-15 provides a solution: “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
The Lord Jesus, through His vicarious death, rendered the devil (who once had the power of death) powerless, effectively abolishing his authority and ability to kill. So, Satan doesn’t have that power anymore. What does he do now? He employs his deceptive strategies and makes people afraid. Fear is why many are subject to death; it puts people in bondage; it makes them tremble and refuse to do what they should do.
But thanks be unto God; Jesus delivered humanity from death completely. You have to come to that place in your Christian life where you have no fear of death; where you lose your fears. Jesus has the keys of hell and of death; He has authority over death so there’s nothing to fear anymore. Read His reassuring words: “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death” (Revelation 1:18).
In John 5:24, He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” You’ve passed from death to life. You’re in the arena of life. This isn’t a promise. Physical death is the result of spiritual death. If there is no spiritual death in you, there ought not to be physical death in you.
John reiterated the same words in his epistle when he said, “We know that we have passed from death unto life…” (1 John 3:14). Hallelujah! Always remember, the devil has nothing—death, sickness, weakness, feebleness—in you just like Jesus said in John 14:30: “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”
CONFESSION
Blessed be God for the victory over death that we have in Christ. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of Jesus Christ my Lord, who loved me and gave Himself for me! I live fearlessly, knowing that I have passed from death to life. The God-life in me makes me supernatural and impregnable to sickness, disease, failure, death, and the devil. Hallelujah!
