주님을 따르십시오
Follow Him
“말씀하시되 나를 따라오라 내가 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라 하시니”(마 4:19)
오늘의 본문 구절에서 주님께서 말씀하신 내용을 주목해 보십시오. “나를 따라오라 내가 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라” 당신이 할 일은 그분을 따르는 것이며, 그러면 그분은 당신의 모든 꿈을 이루어주실 것입니다. 그분을 따르십시오. 그분이 당신이 하나님의 부르심과 당신의 삶에 관한 운명을 성취하게 하실 것입니다. 그렇다면 당신이 어떻게 그분을 따라야 합니까?
당신이 예수님 시대에 이스라엘에 살았다면, 예수님을 따른다는 것은 거리에서 거리로, 마을에서 마을로, 혹은 도시에서 도시로 그분과 동행한다는 뜻으로 생각했을 것입니다. 그러나 그 이상입니다. 실제로 예수님을 따라다녔던 유다는 결국 예수님을 배신하고 떠났습니다. 이는 예수님을 육신적으로 따라다니는 것만으로는 충분치 않다는 것을 증명합니다.
예수님을 따르는 첫 번째 측면은 말씀 안에서 그분을 따르는 것입니다. 예수님은 살아있는 말씀이시기 때문입니다. 요한복음 1:14은 말합니다. “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라” 당신이 말씀 안에서 그분을 따른다면, 당신은 예수님을 따르는 것입니다. 기록된 말씀은 모두 예수님에 관한 것입니다.
두 번째 측면은 말씀을 통해 그분을 따르는 것입니다. 당신이 말씀을 공부한다면 예수님을 발견하고, 그분의 사고방식과 믿음을 이해하며, 그분의 행동을 관찰하게 될 것입니다. 예수님께서 모든 것에 대해 어떻게 반응하셨는지 알게 될 것입니다. 예를 들어, 그분이 어떻게 격렬한 폭풍우에 반응하셨는지 볼 수 있습니다. 예수님께서는 자연에 대한 그분의 권세와 혼돈 속에서도 평안을 가져오는 그분의 능력을 보여주셨습니다(막 4:38-39).
예수님에 관한 모든 것은 말씀에 나타납니다. 예수님께서 다양한 상황 가운데 어떻게 반응하셨는지 배우는 일은 우리 삶에 귀중한 통찰력을 줍니다. 예수님께서 배고프셨을 때 어떻게 행동하셨습니까? 그분은 피곤하실 때 어떻게 행동하셨습니까? 그분은 우리에게 어떻게 살아야 하는지 보여주시기 위해 모든 일을 하셨습니다. 그러므로 우리는 말씀 안에서, 말씀을 통해, 말씀으로 그분을 따라야 합니다. 말씀으로 그분을 따른다는 것은 그분의 말씀대로 행하고 그분이 말씀하신 것을 행한다는 뜻입니다. 야고보서 1:22은 말합니다. “말씀을 행하는 사람이 되십시오. 그저 듣기만 하여 자신을 속이는 사람이 되지 마십시오.”(새번역)

사랑하는 아버지, 말씀 안에서, 말씀을 통해, 말씀으로 예수님을 따를 수 있는 특권을 주시니 감사합니다. 나는 매일 하나님의 말씀에 푹 잠깁니다. 나는 말씀의 신비와 심오한 비밀을 이해하고, 주님의 가르침과 원리를 내 삶에 적용할 수 있는 깊은 통찰력을 얻었습니다. 나는 말씀을 행하는 사람입니다. 나는 삶의 모든 면에서 승리를 경험합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

FOLLOW HIM
“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).
Notice what the Lord said in the verse above: “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Your responsibility is to follow Him and He’ll make all your dreams come true. Follow Him and He’ll see to it that you fulfil God’s calling and destiny for your life. But how do you follow Him?
If you had lived in Jesus’ day in Israel, you might have thought that following Him meant physically accompanying Him from street to street, village to village, or town to town. It’s however beyond that. Judas, who followed Jesus physically ultimately betrayed Him and lost out with God, proving that following Him physically wasn’t enough.
The first aspect of following Jesus is to follow Him in the Word, for He is the living Word. John 1:14 tells us, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” When you follow Him in the Word, you’re following Jesus Himself. The written Word is all about Jesus.
Secondly, you must follow Him through the Word. As you study the Word, you’ll find Jesus and understand His mindset, His beliefs, and observe His actions. You’ll see how He responded to everything. You’ll read, for example, how He reacted to a billowing tempest; He demonstrated authority over nature and His ability to bring peace even in the midst of chaos (Mark 4:38-39).
Everything about Jesus is revealed in the Word. Learning how He responded in various situations provides valuable insights for our own lives. When He got hungry, what did He do? When He felt tired, what did He do? He did all He did to show us how to live. Therefore, we must follow Him in, through, and by the Word. Following Him by the Word means to act on His Word, to do what He says. James 1:22 (NIV) says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the privilege to follow Jesus in, through, and by the Word. I immerse myself in your Word daily, and I’m granted deep insights to understand its mysteries and deep secrets, and apply the principles and teachings of the Lord in my life. I’m a doer of the Word, and I experience victory and triumphs in every aspect of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
