Wisdom To Discern Right From Wrong
“그러므로 사람이 선을 행할 줄 알고도 행하지 아니하면 죄니라”(약 4:17)
오늘의 본문 구절은 매우 놀라운 사실을 보여줍니다. 만일 당신이 옳은 일을 행할 줄 알면서도 행하지 않는다면 그것은 당신에게 죄입니다. 다른 사람에게는 죄가 아닐 수도 있지만 당신은 그것이 옳은 일인 줄 알았기 때문에 당신에게는 죄가 됩니다. 이것은 하나님의 백성이 그들의 삶에서 신성한 지혜의 역사와 인도를 이해해야 하는 주된 이유 중 하나입니다.
지혜는 옳고 그름을 판단하고 분별할 수 있는 능력을 줍니다. 지혜는 당신이 악으로부터 의를 구별할 수 있게 도와줍니다. 하나님의 말씀에서 말하는 지혜에는 크게 세 가지 종류가 있는데, 그리스어로 “소피아”, “수네시스”, 그리고 “프로네시스”입니다.
“소피아”는 이론적 지혜입니다. 하나님께서 주시는 실재에 대한 통찰력입니다. “수네시스”는 이해력, 지각, 이해입니다. 개념들을 이해하고 그 개념 사이의 관계성을 볼 수 있는 능력입니다. 이는 행동하기 전에 우선으로 있어야 하는 빠른 이해, 예리한 생각을 뜻합니다.
그러나 우리가 지혜를 옳고 그름을 판단하고 분별하는 능력이라고 할 때, 우리는 실천적 지혜인 “프로네시스”를 말하는 것입니다. “프로네시스”는 사고방식, 즉 의인의 사고방식입니다. 이것은 힘입니다. 우리가 지혜를 힘이라고 말한다면, 그것이 바로 “프로네시스”입니다. 우리는 “프로네시스”를 말하고 있습니다!
“프로네시스”는 당신의 이성을 넘어서 하나님의 뜻 안에 존재하려는 성향입니다. 당신의 이해를 넘어서는 하나님의 뜻의 체계나 범위 안에 자신이 있게 하는 특별한 영적 묘약입니다. “프로네시스”는 당신이 있어야 할 곳에 당신이 있게 합니다. 그것은 당신이 먼저 판단할 필요도 없이 당신이 해야 할 일을 하게 합니다. “프로네시스”가 당신의 시스템 안에 사고방식을 만들어두었기 때문입니다. 바르게 말하고, 바르게 생각하고, 바르게 살고, 바른 일을 하는 것은 당신의 기본 설정값입니다. 프로그래밍 되어있는 것입니다.
그러므로 “소피아”로 무엇이 옳은지 알고도 행하지 않는다면 이는 당신이 “프로네시스”가 부족하다는 뜻입니다. “프로네시스”는 프로펠러와 같습니다. 다른 사람들은 보지 못하지만 당신이 봐야만 하는 것을 보게 도와줍니다. 아름다운 점은 당신이 의식적이고 지속적인 하나님의 말씀에 대한 묵상을 통해 스스로를 “프로네시스” 안에서 기능하도록 발전시킬 수 있다는 사실입니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 내가 아버지의 영의 인도에 나를 내어드릴 때, 나는 더 증가된 실용적인 지혜, 즉 의인의 사고방식으로 기능합니다. 나는 바르게 생각하고, 말하고, 행하고, 하나님의 말씀의 빛 가운데 계속해서 살도록 프로그램되어 있습니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

WISDOM TO DISCERN RIGHT FROM WRONG
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17).
Our opening scripture reveals something quite striking. It says if you know the right thing to do and don’t do it, to you, it’s a sin. That thing may not be a sin to someone else but it is a sin to you because you knew it was the right thing to do but you didn’t do it. This is one major reason God’s people need to understand the workings and guidance of divine wisdom in their lives.
Wisdom gives you the ability to decide and discern right from wrong. Wisdom helps you distinguish righteousness from evil. There’re three major kinds of wisdom the Word of God talks about, and the Greek words for them are “Sophia,” “Sunesis” and “Phronesis.”
“Sophia” is theoretical wisdom; the insight that God gives you into reality. “Sunesis” is comprehension, perception, understanding; the ability to understand concepts and see relationships between them. It suggests quickness of apprehension, the penetrating consideration which precedes action.
But when we say wisdom is the ability to decide and discern right from wrong, we’re referring to “Phronesis,” which is practical wisdom. “Phronesis” is a mindset, the mindset of the righteous; it’s a force. When we say wisdom is a force, that’s it! We’re referring to “Phronesis!”
“Phronesis” is that disposition of being in the will of God beyond your reasoning. It’s a special spiritual elixir that locates you within the framework or ambits of God’s will beyond your understanding. It locates you in the places where you ought to be; it causes you to do the things you ought to do without having to reason them out first, because it has created a mindset within your system. It’s your default setting to only talk right, think right, live right, and do right. It’s a programming.
If therefore you know what is right by “Sophia” and you don’t do it, then it means you lack “Phronesis.” “Phronesis” is a propeller. It helps you see what you should see that others may not see. The beautiful thing is, you can develop yourself to function always in “Phronesis” through conscious and constant meditation on the Word of God.
PRAYER
Dear Father, as I yield myself to the guidance of your Spirit, I function with an increased manifestation of practical wisdom—the mindset of the righteous. I’m programmed to think, talk, live and act right, and walk consistently in the light of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
