기도로 뜨겁게 수고하십시오
Labouring Fervently In Prayers
“너희에게 속한 사람으로 그리스도의 종인 에바브라가 너희에게 문안하느니라. 그가 너희를 위해 항상 기도로 뜨겁게 수고하나니 이것은 너희가 하나님의 모든 뜻 안에서 완전하고 완벽하게 서게 하려 함이라.”(골 4:12, 킹제임스 흠정역)
사도 바울은 에바브라를 “항상 기도로 뜨겁게 수고하는” 사람으로 묘사합니다. “뜨겁게 수고하는”이라는 두 단어는 에바브라가 무엇을 어떻게 했는지에 대한 우리가 충분히 이해할 수 있게 합니다. 이 두 단어는 동일한 그리스어 “에고니조마이(agonizomai)”에서 비롯되었으며, “싸우다”라는 뜻입니다!
그러므로 오늘의 본문 구절은 이렇게도 읽을 수 있습니다. “너희에게 속한 사람으로 그리스도의 종인 에바브라가 너희에게 문안하느니라. 그가 너희를 위해 항상 기도로 싸우고 있나니.” 아마 “만약 에바브라가 기도로 싸우고 있었다면, 누구를 상대로 싸움을 하고 있던 것입니까?”라고 물을 수도 있습니다. 그 상대는 분명 하나님은 아닙니다. 애초에 에바브라에게 기도하도록 영감을 주신 분이 하나님이기 때문입니다. 하나님은 기도를 들으시고 응답하시는 분이십니다. 그러므로 당연히 기도로 싸우는 대상은 하나님이 아닙니다.
에바브라의 기도의 목적은 우리에게 원수가 누구인지에 대한 단서를 줍니다. 에바브라의 기도는 골로새에 있는 그리스도인들이 하나님의 모든 뜻 안에서 온전하고 완전하게 서기 위한 것이었습니다. 원수 사탄이 그들이 하나님의 뜻 안에서 온전하고 완전하게 되는 것을 막으려고 방해했기 때문입니다. 사탄이 그리스도인인 그들의 성장을 방해하려고 했습니다.
바울은 에베소서 6:12에서 이러한 마귀의 세력에 대해 설명하면서 다음과 같이 말했습니다. “우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라.” 여기서 악한 세력이란 사람들의 마음을 어둡게 하여 그들이 하나님의 진리의 길에서 떠나게 하는 자들입니다.
이것이 바로 에바브라가 한 것처럼 우리 또한 사람들을 위해 기도로 싸워야 하는 이유입니다. 저는 오늘 당신이 더 이상 하나님의 말씀의 빛 가운데 행하지 않거나 믿음에서 떠나간 사람들의 이름을 적고, 그들을 위해 기도로 싸우기를 강권합니다. 매일 그들을 위해 뜨겁게 기도하십시오. 그러면 놀라운 결과를 보게 될 것입니다. 할렐루야!

사랑하는 아버지, 나는 나의 가족, 친구들, 아직 거듭나지 않은 전세계의 많은 사람들을 지배하고 있는 어둠의 악한 영의 세력을 끊습니다. 나는 그들의 심령이 주님께 열려서 영광스러운 복음의 빛이 그들의 마음을 강렬하게 비춰 그들의 구원을 위한 하나님의 은혜를 받아들이기를 기도합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

LABOURING FERVENTLY IN PRAYERS
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God”(Colossians 4:12).
The apostle Paul cites Epaphras as one “Always labouring fervently in prayers.” Those two words “labouring fervently” are rendered that way to provide a good understanding of what he actually did and how. Both words are from the same Greek word, ‘agonizomai’—fight!
You can read that verse thus, “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, greets you, always fighting for you in prayers.” A question to ask would be, “If Ephraphas was fighting for them in prayers, who was he fighting against?” It certainly wasn’t God, as it was God who inspired him to pray in the first place; it’s God who hears and answers prayers. So, certainly, God is not the enemy.
Now, the purpose of his prayer gives us an idea of the enemy. His prayer was for the Christians in Colossae that they would stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. This must be because there’s an enemy, Satan, out there trying to stop them from becoming perfect and complete in the will of God. This he tries to do by hindering them or attempting to hinder their Christian growth.
Paul describes these demoniacal forces in Ephesians 6:12 when he said, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” These evil forces are the ones darkening the minds of men, swaying them from the path of God’s truth.
It’s the reason we must fight for them in prayers as Epaphras did. I encourage you to write down names of people whom you might have noticed or heard are not walking in the light of God’s Word or have strayed from the faith and fight for them in prayer. Pray fervently for them every day, and you’d see remarkable results. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I break the influence of the evil spirit of darkness over family members, friends and others around the world who aren’t yet born again. I pray that their minds and hearts are opened to the Lord, as the light of the glorious Gospel shines with great intensity into their hearts to embrace the grace of God for their salvation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
