그분의 이름의 권세와 통치권

“그의 힘의 위력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떠한 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라 그의 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사 모든 통치와 권세와 능력과 주권과 이 세상뿐 아니라 오는 세상에 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나게 하시고”(엡1:19-21)
에베소서 1:17-18에서 성령님은 사도 바울을 통해 하나님의 백성을 위한 아름다운 기도를 하셨습니다. 성령님은 기도하시며 예수님이 진정 어떤 분이신 지 우리에게 보여주셨고, 예수님의 이름에 부여된 권세와 능력과 통치권에 대해 설명하셨습니다.
19-20절은 말합니다. “그의 힘의 위력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떠한 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라 그의 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사.” 하나님께서 예수님을 죽음에서 살리시고 하나님의 오른편에 두셨다는 사실에 주목하십시오. “오른편”은 그저 방향이나 지리적 위치에 대한 설명이 아닙니다. 이는 권세의 자리를 의미합니다.
누군가를 당신의 오른팔이라고 말할 때 그것은 그 사람이 당신을 대표한다는 뜻입니다. 그는 당신을 대신하여 행동할 수 있는 권세를 가지고 있습니다. 예수님께서 하나님의 자리에 계십니다. 정확히는 어디입니까? 성경은 말합니다. “…모든 통치와 권세와 능력과 주권과 이 세상뿐 아니라 오는 세상에 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나게 하시고”(엡1:21). 이곳이 바로 예수님이 계신 그분의 권세의 자리입니다.
따라서 예수 그리스도의 이름은 모든 권세, 통치권, 정부와 권위 위에 있습니다. 웨스트 번역은 에베소서 1:21을 훌륭하게 번역합니다. 이 번역본은 예수님께서 “모든 정부와 권세와 능력과 주권과 이 세상 뿐 아니라 오는 세상에서도 항상 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나신” 분이라고 말합니다.
사도들이 예수님의 이름을 사용하므로 그들 시대에 세상을 다스린 것은 당연합니다! 오늘날 전세계 그리스도인들은 예수님의 이름의 권세를 반드시 다시 발견해야 합니다. 모든 상황에서 그 이름을 사용하는 법을 배우십시오.
고백
예수님의 이름은 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름이며 나는 오늘 그 이름을 사용합니다. 예수님의 이름은 암보다 크십니다. 예수님의 이름은 불구가 된 팔다리를 새롭게 합니다. 예수님의 이름은 눈먼 자를 눈 뜨게 하고, 귀머거리를 듣게 하고, 죽은 자를 일으킵니다. 나는 예수님의 이름으로 내가 정복자보다 더 나은 자이며 영원한 챔피언임을 선언합니다. 나는 영원히 열매를 맺고 생산적으로 살아갑니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power…Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”(Ephesians 1:19-21).
In Ephesians 1:17-18, the Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, prayed a beautiful prayer for God’s people. As He progressed in the prayer, He showed us something about who Jesus really is, and expounds on the authority, power and dominion vested in His Name.
Verses seventeen to twenty says, “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” Notice that God raised Jesus from the dead and set Him at His own right hand. “Right hand” isn’t a description of directional or geographical location; it implies the seat of power.
When you refer to someone as your right-hand man, what you mean is that he represents you; he has your authority to act in your stead. Jesus is in God’s seat. Where exactly is that? It says, “…in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:21). That’s where Jesus is—His position of authority.
Thus, the Name of Jesus Christ is above every power, every rulership, every government, and every authority. The Wuest translation gives us a more excellent rendering of Ephesians 1:21. It tells us that Jesus is “over and above every government and authority and power and lordship and every name that is constantly being named, not only in this age, but also in the one about to come.”
No wonder, the apostles used the Name of Jesus and ruled the world of their time! This is what Christians around the world must rediscover today: the power of the Name of Jesus. Learn to use that Name in all circumstances.
CONFESSION
The Name of Jesus is the name above all names, and I use that Name as an instrument today. His Name is greater than cancer; it replaces maimed limbs; it opens blind eyes, unstops deaf ears, and raises the dead. In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I’m more than a conqueror, a champion forever; eternally fruitful and productive. Blessed be God!
