A More Excellent Way To Give Praise
“다윗이 여호와 앞에서 힘을 다하여 춤을 추는데 그 때에 다윗이 베 에봇을 입었더라”(삼하 6:14)
오늘의 본문 구절을 보고 다윗이 그저 육신 안에서 춤을 춘 것이라고 생각하는 사람들이 있습니다. 그들은 종종 다윗처럼 춤을 추고 싶다고 말하면서 온 힘을 다해 빙빙 돌기 시작합니다. 아닙니다! 다윗은 성령의 사람이었습니다. 하나님의 궤가 다윗 성으로 옮겨질 때 오늘의 본문 구절은 “다윗이 여호와 앞에서 힘을 다하여 춤을 추는데 그 때에 다윗이 베 에봇을 입었더라”고 말합니다.
밑줄 친 부분에 주목하십시오. 그 당시에 베 에봇을 입는 것은 제사장의 직분을 상징했습니다. 제사장이 그 의복을 입을 때는 자신의 영적 직분을 수행하는 것이었습니다. 다윗 역시 분명 성령의 인도를 받는 선지자로서 베 에봇을 입었고, 히브리어 원어로 묘사된 그의 춤은 일반적인 기쁨을 표현하는 육신적인 춤과는 매우 달랐습니다.
성경에서 다윗이 주님 앞에서 춤을 추었다고 할 때, 춤을 뜻하는 히브리어 단어는 “카라(karar)”이며 이는 대부분의 사람들이 생각하는 빙글빙글 도는 움직임을 뜻하지 않습니다. “카라(Karar)”는 아이처럼 팔짝팔짝 뛰고, 점프하고, 자신의 축을 기준삼아 도는 것입니다.
다윗의 춤은 누가복음 10:21에서 예수님이 하신 행동과 비슷합니다. 성경은 “그 때에 예수께서 성령으로 기뻐하시며(그리스어:아갈리아오(agalliao)…”(눅 10:21) 라고 말합니다. 그분은 어린 아이처럼 뛰셨습니다. 따라서, 다윗이 “힘을 다하여” 추었다는 것은 오늘날 대부분의 사람들이 춤추는 것처럼 무대에서 육신적으로 힘껏 노력하는 것을 의미하지 않습니다. 히브리어 “oze, oze(오제, 오제)”는 그가 자신의 모든 영광과 위엄으로 춤을 췄다는 의미입니다. 그는 하나님의 의복을 모두 걸치고 춤을 추었습니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!
이에 대한 가장 좋은 설명은 신약에 나오는 그리스어 “아갈리아오(agalliao)”로 내면으로부터 나오는 춤입니다. 육신 안에서의 춤은 당신의 영의 참된 경배와 예배를 방해합니다. 또한 영적 능력을 소멸시킵니다. 그러나 많은 사람들이 이것에 대해 깨닫지 못합니다.
이 마지막 때에 하나님의 영은 우리에게 하나님께 참된 찬양과 예배를 드릴 수 있는 더 탁월한 방법을 보여주십니다. 그리스도인 회중 가운데 육신의 춤을 추던 시대는 끝났습니다. 우리가 주님을 예배할 때는 반드시 항상 영 안에 있어야 합니다. “이는 영 안에서 하나님을 경배하며, 그리스도 예수 안에서 기뻐하고, 육신을 신뢰하지 않는 우리가 할례파임이니라.”(빌 3:3, 한글킹제임스) 그리고 요한복음 4:23-24은 말합니다. “아버지께 참되게 예배하는 자들은 영과 진리로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이 때라 아버지께서는 자기에게 이렇게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라 하나님은 영이시니 예배하는 자가 영과 진리로 예배할지니라”

사랑하는 주님, 예배의 특권을 주시고 당신이 받으시는 참된 찬양과 예배의 방식으로 인도해 주시니 감사합니다. 내 세상에 영향을 끼치도록 당신의 영광을 전하는 내 심령으로부터 당신께 참된 예배를 드릴 수 있도록 나의 생각과 감각을 조정할 수 있는 능력을 주시니 감사합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

A MORE EXCELLENT WAY TO GIVE PRAISE
“And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod” (2 Samuel 6:14).
There’re those who thought that in the verse above David was merely dancing in the flesh. So, oftentimes they’d say they want to dance like David danced, and they start gyrating with all their might. No! David was a man of the Spirit. When the Ark of God was being brought into the city of David, our theme verse says “…David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.”
Notice the underlined part. In those days, dressing with a linen ephod represented the office of the priest. Whenever the priest was in that regalia, he functioned in his spiritual office. David was girded with a linen ephod; being also a prophet, evidently instructed by the Spirit, his dance as described in the Hebrew text was very different from the fleshly dance of normal celebrations.
When the Bible says he danced before the Lord, the Hebrew word for dance is ”kârar”, and it doesn’t refer to the kind of whirling and gyrating that most people think. “Kârar” means to skip and jump and spin, turning around about your own axis, like a child.
David’s dance is similar to what Jesus did in Luke 10:21; the Bible says, “In that hour Jesus rejoiced (Greek: agalliao) in spirit….” He was skipping and jumping like a child. So, that David danced with all “his might” doesn’t refer to exerting himself physically on the dance floor, like most people do today. The term is “oze, oze” in Hebrew, meaning that he danced with all his glory, all his majesty; he danced with all of God’s regalia on him. Glory to God!
The best description for it in the New Testament is the Greek word “agalliaō”; it’s a dance from the inside. Dancing in the flesh distracts your spirit from true reverence and worship; it dissipates spiritual power, and many don’t realize this.
In these last days, the Spirit of God is showing us a more excellent way to give God true praise and worship. The days of fleshly dance in Christian congregations are over. When we worship the Lord, it must and should always be in the spirit: “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Philippians 3:3). Also, John 4:23-24 says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Dear Lord, thank you for the privilege of worship and for guiding me on the way of true praise and worship that’s acceptable to you. Thank you for granting me the ability to condition my mind and senses to offer you true worship from my heart that transmits your glory to impart my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
