끈질기게 계속 기도하십시오
Persisting In Prayer
“그러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병이 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 큼이니라”(약 5:16)
오늘의 본문 구절의 확대번역본은 끈질긴 기도의 중요성을 말합니다. “… 의인의 열렬한(진심에서 우러나오는, 지속적인) 기도는 엄청난 능력이 있음이라[역동적으로 일하느니라].” “지속적인”이라는 단어는 반드시 끈기가 있어야 한다는 의미입니다! 몇 마디를 중얼거리고 문제가 “완전히 끝났다”고 말하는 것이 아닙니다. 당신은 영 안에 승리의 확신이 있을 때까지 계속 밀고 나가야 합니다.
주님을 본받으십시오. 어느 날 그분은 가까운 세 명의 제자였던 베드로, 야고보, 요한을 데리고 기도하기 위해 겟세마네라는 장소에 가셨습니다. 마태복음 26:39은 말합니다. “조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 이르시되 내 아버지여 만일 할 만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마시옵고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고.”
누가는 성령으로 말미암아 이것을 보여주었습니다. “예수께서 힘쓰고 애써 더욱 간절히 기도하시니 땀이 땅에 떨어지는 핏방울 같이 되더라”(눅 22:44). 예수님은 애쓰며 온 힘을 다해 기도하셨습니다. 이것은 무심한 2분짜리 기도가 아니었습니다! 예수님이 제자들의 연약함과 그들이 한 시간도 그분과 함께 깨어 기도하지 못하는 것에 대해 꾸짖으셨던 것을 기억하십시오(마 26:40).
주님은 무엇이 걸려있는지 아셨으므로 끈질기게 기도하셨습니다. 그분은 자신이 아닌 미래 세대를 위해 기도하셨습니다. 과거, 현재, 미래의 사람들을 위해 기도하셨습니다. 그분은 지나간 모든 사람들, 당시에 살고 있던 사람들, 앞으로 올 사람들을 위해 영원을 바라보고 계셨습니다! 그러므로 그분은 기도하셨습니다. 그리고 기도를 멈추지 않으셨습니다.
이것이 오늘날 우리에게 요구되는 일입니다. 그 어느 때보다도 우리의 기도의 중요성이 훨씬 더 높아졌습니다. 영혼들을 위한 싸움이 있고, 우리는 그들의 구원을 위해 기도에 힘써야 합니다. 우리는 교회의 휴거가 있기 전에 우리가 이겨와야 하는 마지막 영혼들이 왕국 안으로 들어오도록 계속 기도하고 중보해야 합니다.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 나를 강하게 하시고 성령을 통해 기도생활을 승리하도록 해 주셔서 감사합니다. 지금도 나는 왕국 안으로의 위대하고 강력한 영혼 추수를 위해 기도합니다. 당신의 영광이 오늘 이 땅을 덮고, 회심하지 않은 영혼들이 당신의 복음의 빛으로 영향을 받아 어둠에서 빛으로 그리고 하나님의 아들의 영광스러운 자유 안으로 돌아서도록 기도합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

Persisting In Prayer
…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16).
The Amplified Classic version of our theme verse places the premium on persistent prayer:
“…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” The word “continued” is a clear indication that there must be some persistence.
You don’t just mutter a few words and say the issue is “done and dusted”; you keep pushing, until you have the note of victory in your spirit.
Let’s take a cue from the Master. On a certain occasion, He took His three closest disciples?Peter, James and John with Him to a place called Gethsemane, to pray. Matthew 26:39 tells us, “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
Luke, by the Spirit, reveals, “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground” (Luke 22:44). Jesus was distraught, and He prayed with much intensity. This was no casual twominute prayer! Recall that He chastised the disciples for their weakness and inability to keep watch (pray) with Him for an hour (Matthew 26:40).
The Lord persisted because He understood what was at stake. What He was praying about was beyond Himself; He was about to endure a separation from His Father. It was about the salvation of generations:
past, present and future. He was looking at eternity, for all those who had gone by, and those who were living at the time, and those who would ever come.
So, He prayed and persisted in prayer.
This is what is required of us today; the stakes are much higher than ever. There’s a fight for the souls of men and we must agonize in prayer for their salvation.
We must keep praying and interceding until the last soul that must be won is reached and brought into the Kingdom before the Rapture of the Church.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for helping me build a strong and prevailing prayer life through the Holy Spirit.
Even now, I pray for a great and mighty haul of souls into the Kingdom; your glory covers the earth today, and the souls of the unconverted are impacted with the light of your Gospel, turning them from darkness to light and glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
